Issues with iMovie in viewing

I am getting weird playback issues with movies I've added to a project. My movie is like 40 minutes long. When I try to watch the finished product or put finishing touches on it, after hitting space bar the video skimmer moves, but the video preview stays still. I found the video in the library and same thing.
On a reboot or restart the program it works again normally then acts funky after a few minutes.
I didn't change my library, it just isn't previewing and I'm frustrated thinking the video is bad or something.
Has anyone had this buggy issue on previewing a movie in the screen or while skimming in your library or project that the video displays funny.
Brian

Ouch. I'm having the same problem. It is VERY annoying. Was hoping for a solution on here.
I find it is worse when I import 1080p from my camera. When I use 1080p, I can't even adjust the speed of large cuts (60 seconds) because iMovie will just freeze up on playback. Restarting iMovie will revert the clip back to normal speed but the same bug occurs when I try to adjust speed. I find I can break a long clip up into short sections (which makes no sense as iMovie optimizes the entire clip) and adjust speed on 5 second segments without and issue.
The playback is the most annoying. I don't know if it is worth exporting a movie, which takes time in HD, if it doesn't work on preview.
ANY fix for this?

  • Audio Syncing Issue with iMovie 10.0.1

As was the case with iMovie 9, there is an issue with the audio syncing properly to the video when uploaded to YouTube. I am wondering if anyone knows of the workaround for the same issue with iMovie 10 (Mavericks)?
    Thanks!

The bar codes are generated from an online service and are downloaded as vector art in the form of EPS files.I am opening the file in Illustrator after downloading the EPS file. I am not scaling it in any way, it just opens in Illustrator "wrong". "Placing" the file creates the same distorted effect. The EPS file looks fine if I view it in Preview or open it in Photoshop, but I need to use it as vector art.

  • Performance issue with a Custom view

    Hi ,
I am pretty new to performance tuning and facing a performance issue with a custom view.
Execution time for view query is good but as soon as I append a where caluse to view query ,the execution time increases.
    Below is the view query:
    CREATE OR REPLACE XXX_INFO_VIEW AS
    SELECT csb.system_id license_id,
    cst.name license_number ,
    csb.system_type_code license_type ,

I have forced an index to avoid Full table scan on OKC_K_LINES_TL and suppressed an index on CSI_item_instances.instance id to make the view query fast.
So when i do select * from XXX_INFO_VIEWit executes in a decent time,But when I try to do
    select * from XXX_INFO_VIEW where active_supp_flag='Y' and coverage_type='1'
    it takes lot of time.

    Hi,
You should always try using primary index fields, if not possible then secondary index fields.
Even if you cannot do anything from either of the two then try this,
Use Less distinct fields on the top.
In your case , you can use bukrs ,gjahr ,werks on the top in the where condition..then followed by less distinct values..
Even when you use secondary index if you have 4 fields in your sec index and you are using only two fields from the top then the index is useful only upto that two fields provided they are in sequence.

  • Issue with Windows Photo Viewer: "can't save picture because an unknown error occured"

    Hi,
I recently installed Windows 7 RC (Build 7100). I quite often have an issue in Windows Photo Viewer when rotating an image and trying to go to the next picture. It gives me the error "Windows Photo Viewer can't save picture because an unknown error occured".
Seperate from this issue: when I delete a picture in Windows Photo Viewer, it is still in the Windows Explorer overview of files. This did not use to be the case in Windows XP?
    Kind regards,
    Frederik

    Hi
    SOSv2 ,
This should be fixed in Windows 7 RTM.
Also, you can install Windows Live Photo Gallery to view and rotate pictures as well. To download it, please click
HERE . For more information about Windows Live Photo Gallery, you can
    a question on

In addition, please understand that Nikon RAW images (and most Canon) do not support rotate functionality in Windows Photo Viewer, and thus rotate is
disabled. To rotate those types of images, the user will need to use an image editing program that fully supports their RAW codec.
    Regards,
    Linda
I am using Win 7 x64 Ultimate RTM and still have this problem (with JPG's dumped from my Nikon to the hard drive).  Doesn't do it on every one that I rotate, but still very annoying.  Is there a fix?

  • Issues with iMovie 9.0.9 in Yosemite

Using iMovie 9.0.9 in Yosemite and I am using a late 2009 MacBook.
Yosemite works fine till i started to use iMovie 9.0.9
After Launch, then I went to my projects and then it started it spinning and  it would not stop. Then I went to look if I had to force quit it and I did. It said "iMovie not responding" It does it all the time.
I did not change a thing on this computer except for going to Yosemite 10.10.
Is there any workaround so that doesn't do this or do we have to wait till Apple fixes it if they ever do?
Also, When I put in my SD  card  in my SD reader iMovie would not launch it. So I had to go ahead and create a quick time movie and then imported in that way.
That was the only workaround I founded be able to use iMovie again to capture video in iMovie 9.0.9.
    HELP!!!!!!

Im having the same issue with Yosemite, I have old projects from iMovie 9.0.9 that won't open in 10.0.6 and when I try to load a copy of 9.0.9 from my external to my new iMac it won't even copy over. Have a ton of projects i would hate to lose because of this stupid bug.

  • Stalling issues with iMovie 08 when publishing/exporting. Very frustrating.

    Hello-
I am having a really hard time with publishing/exporting from iMovie 08'. It hangs or stalls right when it gets to the end of exporting a project. I have the newest update (7.1.2) and it was just freshly installed from the startup discs that came with my macbook pro. The weird thing was that i think before i updated the OS to 10.5.3 i was able to publish projects as I have one that is exported.
Has anyone else had this problem? I searched the forums and people have issues with it stalling at other places but I didn't come across stalling problems at the same time.
What can I do to fix this?
Any help on this issue would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Hey guys I am really hoping someone can help me with this issue as I am trying to put a DVD together for a group I traveled with and I feel like I have tried everything.
Has anyone at least the same problem? I just feel frustrated because I spent numerous hours creating 6 projects to put on a DVD and the **** thing won't export to iDVD, Final Cut Express, or anything. I just don't want to lose my work and start from scratch in FCE.
I paid for this **** product and it should work!
Are there any programs that will somehow import an iMovie project that hasn't been exported?
I can't export on any format (avi, quicktime, mpeg4, etc.) and am getting desperate, haha.
    Thank you for any help.

  • Issue with Adobe Content Viewer

Don't know if anyone else has this issue. Am using CS5.5 and just installed Air 2.6 (to see if that solves it) I am new to the DPS, but know my way round InDesign, I am experimenting with the creation of pages. They upload fine into the Folio builder but when I click on Preview in the Folio Builder window i get the below screen and nothing else after it Launches.
I am taking files intended for Print and copying them into the new pages. However I have converted all the artwork to RGB, the images are jpegs. Is there any chance there could be an issue with that somehow?
Am I doing anything wrong in the creation of the files? I have followed the instructions and yet I still get this even with the tutorial assets.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Ian

    Hi, Ian:
Have you got it to work now? If you'd like, you can share the folio with me ([email protected]) and I can give it a try.
    Thanks!

  • Serious Issues with iMovie 08

I just installed iMovie and imported an HD movie tonight from my Sony HDR-HC3 camera and am not having much success...
The import started fine, but then after it completed I hit Done and it didn't show up anywhere...had to close and then reopen iMovie before the imported event finally showed up...then iMovie is stuck with a spinning beach ball for hours...the video clip is only 20 minutes long. I imported in 'Large' mode...920x540.
Any ideas? I rebooted, restarted iMovie several times...(had to kill it).
it is now in an infinite hanging state...never loads up and won't let me click on anything...
I reimported the clip with iMovie 06 and am in business using that, but would really like to be able to use 08...any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

How do I get iMovie to see a picture added to iPhoto?
The basic answer is to get them "thumbnailed" for previewing in the "Photo Browser." Unfortunately, there is no obvious switch or button to force a "refresh" of your content. It happened to me early on and I believe I simply created a separate album in iPhoto and moved/copied the "unseen" photos from their main Event or Photo area to the newly created album. This seemed to force them to be seen in iMovie '08 but that was several "upgrades" ago. It may or may not still work for you. On the other hand, you can manually drag and drop the photos from the Finder desktop, folder, or iPhoto application directly to your iMovie '08 project if you wish.

  • Some Audio Issues with Imovie 09

    hey guys,
when i make my videos with imovie, i mute the sound of the video clip and synchronize the video to music. I dont want the audio from the actual clip to play.
When i export the video (i select the 'export using quicktime') and watch it in quicktime, there are random bits of audio from the clips (sometimes not even the same clip). It is rather annoying because it really takes away from the intensity of the video.
I checked through the video, and all the clips that have sound (when watching in quicktime) are indeed muted. when i play the video in IMOVIE there is no random sound but when i play the video in QUICKTIME (the exported video) there are random bits of sound.
Anyone know how to eliminate this?
    thanks

I really don't know, but I suspect it is tricky to eliminate frames or double frames and keep the sound synched. When you stick to a preset, you are eliminating or doubling an integer number of frames. When you do a number like 39%, you have to approximate to achieve that percentage while still being constrained to full frames.. This leads to problems with the synch.
In Final Cut Pro, you could do this with great flexibility, but it requires a great deal of effort to learn how to use all that flexibility. In iMovie, they provided some sophisticated features, but made the controls pretty vanilla, so they work for the average user. I think in this case, they imply a greater level of flexibility (through the speed slider) than they can deliver.
Just my opinion. Maybe someone knows the real reason.

  • HELP!  Sony miniDVD camera issues with iMovie.

I have a Sony DVD403 connected to my iMac, trying to bring over movie files to iMovie via USB connection. Apparently Sony records in MPEG format, and I cannot get iMovie or QT Pro to "see" my files....SONY support is no help. Is this Sony camera not supported on Mac? Am I going to have to ditch this $$$ mini DVD camera and invest in a DV camera??? Any and all suggestions welcomed!
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

welcome busy to the  board...
that "miniDVDcamcorder not supported" is a well discussed issue here, just read a few pages, if you're not too busy doing so...
    a) iMovie is a video edit app meant to work with firewire connected miniDV camcorders
by concept, no word of DVD... mpeg2 is a delivery format, not meant for further processing...
    b) iM can control cameras just by firewire protocol, not usb
    c) you can import miniDVD content, but...
    d) don't insert miniDVD in slot-in drives => get an ext. dvd drive..
    e) dvd/mpeg2 needs conversion, choose....:
    * DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    * Apple mpeg2 plugin (20$) + Streamclip (free)
    * Cinematize >60$
    * Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
    * Toast6/7 allows converting to dv/import dvd, hit apple-k
Am I going to have to ditch this $$$ mini DVD camera and invest in a DV camera?
best practise, in case you want to use iMovie....
    helpful?

  • Issue with iMovie

I downloaded video clips to iMovie from my sony handycam.  On the camera, viewing of the clips are fine.  But when I view on iMovie, all clips are jumpy and grainy.  Help please

This is possibly entirely unrelated to your problem, but I read somewhere in the forum that emptying iPhoto Trash may fix certain problems with iPhoto and iMovie working properly together. I can't remember the exact details and a search didn't bring up any useful information. But it's worth a try!
To empty iPhoto Trash, select the menu item iPhoto > Empty iPhoto Trash. Then empty the Mac's Trash. The iPhoto menu item will be greyed out if the Trash is already empty. To view Trash, click on Trash in the side column.

  • JVC JY-HD10 importing issues with imovie HD 5.02

Greetings. Here is my issue: Imovie sees the camera, can control the camera, but no video or audio is coming through. It used to work just fine but now nothing.
What I have tried: 1) reset the firewire port 2) reset the pram 3) reinstalled imovie, 4) trashed the plists 5) used 5 different firewire cables 6) started up garage band (a suggestion from another post) 7) created a new account to elimated custom apps that may be in the way 8) talked sweetly to my mac 9) threatened my mac with big stick 10) walked away in sadness (using a pc to post this
Anyone have this issue? Any insite to this mystery would be greatly apprieciated.

    Hi Emosan
Please! Test Your Camera with another Mac to find out if the problem persists.
    Why ?
The faulth that You describes is similar to a most nasty one I provoked to
my Camera (several devices) and it was expencive to repair.
Yes the Camera worked normally when filming(recording)
    when play-back to TV (analog)
where controllable by iMovie (forward, backward etc.) BUT JUST A BLUE SCREEN
    NO IMPORT or EXPORT
If Your Camera works on another Mac then You need not to worry about this
    sad experience.
Please stay in tuch and give feed back.
I have a long list of what to do if the Camera is OK.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Animation codec issue with iMovie 08

I use the Animation codec a lot as it's a good fit for my workflow.
However, it seems iMovie 08 has issues exporting movies containing clips with Animation video.
iMovie will import them without a glitch, they will play perfectly inside iMovie's preview window but when I export the movie, all the Animation-encoded clips will not be rendered. I still have audio, titles and others clips encoded with different codecs but all the Animation part are pitch black.
    Can anyone confirm this bug?

Check the video rate and the frame rate. See the pattern? Nothing I did would increase data rate or raise frame rate above 1. Looks like a real bug here.
