It is possible a form to save automaticaly?

Hello People!
I am a problem with my form.
My form has a save button, but same user clicking on this button and saving, when it try to close the file, the sortware Adobe Reader seeks to save again. I believe that this happen because my form use function dynamic. But, How do I block it? It is possible the form save automaticaly or really block it?
NOTE: I know to look like a meaningless problem , but I need this to avoid the user sends the part wrong the form.
Seizing the opportunity
I wanted to do the following:
On the click at the save button, I want that Save the file and if the user really saved, I want that it send e-mail.
I tried this:
if(app.execMenuItem("SaveAs"))
... send e-mail
But it doesn't work

Thanks Srini for you reply. But about the save automaticaly, is it possible?
I have also another question in another post (about the save different when send by e-mail) answered for you. Can you help there too?
Thanks so much.

Do you want to automatically save the document, or do you want to skip the save altogether?

  • How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form?

How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form?  I have provided my clients a lifecycle .pdf form they can use to record data for unique client meetings.  They want the ability to save their completed data whenever they use the form under a unique file name.  I've told them the only way I know how to do this is to print the completed form as a .pdf document and then save it.
Is their a way to save the data to a unique file name without printing the filled form?
Is there a way to reset the form with blank fields after saving? or to add a clear fields button?
    Thanks.

If you reader extend  a pdf using livecycle reader extensions then you can save the filled in data - this is true if you are using Adobe reader to view the PDF's. If you open it in Acrobat then the functionality is already there.

  • To Call Another Form and Save Related MAster Data from a Transaction Form

    Hi
Our project requires that forms for creating masters be called whenever the value (Key Value) being referenced in other forms are not found. For doing this I had used the When-Validate-Item Trigger and checked for the key value in the master tables and if not present, I use the Call_Form method to call the master form and create the key value and then come back to the Form in which I was working to continue processing the rest of the data.
It works well if the CAlling forms is in INSERT MODE but Not in UPDATE MODE ( returns a message A Calling Form has unapplied Changes, Cannot Save data (Error: FRM-40403)).
This same feature I tried to work it out around with a Key-Next-Item Trigger, it works fine for both the cases but as long as the user tabs out of the field from keyboard controls like the Enter Key or the Tab Key. But in case he wishes to click on the next field or some other button with a mouse OR he uses a keyboard shortcut to do some other operation viz. F10 for saving data, the trigger is not fired and that returns a ORACLE error (in case a database Integration issue arises) OR saves an invalid data.
I would like to know what kind of triggers could we write to exactly call a master form to save a new key value irrespective of whether the calling form is working in INSERT mode or QUERY Mode.
One way to do it is to use EXIT_FORM(DO_COMMIT, NO_ROLLBACK). But if the Primary/Calling form is closed without a Commit, then the related Master DAta is also Not Saved.
Please Let me know if we can save the master data whatever be the state of the CAlling Form permanently.
    Thanks and Regards

You are going to need to POST in the Called Form rather than committing (and make sure that you do not rollback when you exit).
The Post will insert the master record into the DB but it will not be committed until you issue the commit in the Calling Form.

    Dave,
Thanks for the reply. Of all the suggestions I've received this seemed to
be most promising. I gave it a try and the problem is that when I attempt
to save as optimized a message box pops up and says I have to save my
document first. Low and behold when I save it, compression occurs. Even
when I select the options you suggest I'm left with a compressed document.

You don't want the UncompressPDF plugin - that's designed to split out the
COS objects but doesn't remove the Flate encoding (plus if you've never
compiled a plugin before, it's not really the time to learn).
Instead, simply save your PDF file using the PDF (Optimized) file type,
click the Settings button and under "Clean Up" - "Object compression
options", choose "Remove compression". Turn everything else off if you
want to retain the PDF content exactly as it was before.
Your document-level scripts will then be in the file as plain text.

  • Is it possible to hide the save function and only use the save as function in teststand

    Hi,
When i'm done building a sequence i want to prevent other engineers to save the sequence with the same filename (or version number).
Is it somehow possible to "hide" the save button and only use the save as function?
Or is there another possiblity to solve my problem.
The idea is to have a sequence called Sequence_V1.0.seq which i have build. When installing this in a factory enviroment I would like whenever there is a change needed in the sequence that the version number increases (manual action) (becomes Sequence_V1.1.seq). So from the moment you want to save i would like to only have the function save as. In this way you are obligated to fill in a new sequence name (original sequence will be read-only)
What would even be great if there could be a log of what the changes were
    Thx!!!

    1) You could mark the file as read-only, by default you would then not be able to save over it. The user could make it not read-only though if they know what they are doing.
    2) Another possibility is to lock the sequence file for editing (this is a teststand feature). Go to the Sequence File Property dialog, on the advanced tab, where it says Password Protection, set it to Not Editable and give it a good password. This doesn't however keep someone from saving another file to the same name as the locked one, but they at least won't be able to saved the locked file again without your password, nor will they be able to edit it.
    Hope this helps,
    -Doug

  • Is it possible to save or export an e-book chapter from Adobe Digital Editions? Is it possible to export or save from Adobe Digital Editions to an Adobe pdf?

Is it possible to save or export an e-book chapter from Adobe Digital Editions? Is it possible to export or save from Adobe Digital Editions to an Adobe pdf?

I hope you won't see this as rude, but what you are missing is the obvious point that Adobe are in business to make money. So they put as little in Adobe Reader as they can, so people are motivated to buy stuff. Every development intended for Reader has severe limitations on feasibility and techniques for this reason; it's a huge (but very common) mistake to just develop for Acrobat and assume Reader will follow.

  • Is this possible in forms

    Table
    project_number number
    country_code number
    state_code number
    project_start_date date
    project_status varchar2(30)
The primary key is project_number country_codestate_code
So the data can be something like this
    project_number country_code state_code project_start_date project_status
    10          USA TX 01/01/2003 ENDING
    10 USA AZ 01/01/2003 ENDING
    10          USA CAL 01/01/2003 ENDING
When such data exists, and we try to pull the data into a oracle forms block, there
obviously be duplicate data as shown above.
Is there a workaround in forms where in where in we show this data as master detail. ie.
    Block Master
    project_number project_start_date project_status
    10 01/01/2003 ENDING
    Block Detail
    country_code state_code
    USA TX
    USA AZ
         USA CAL
WE should also be able to not only query the data as show above , but also insert data into the said table from the same form.
With given design(which cannot be changed due to various factors) is it possible in forms?

Yes the simpel approach would be to create a multi-row block , but set the project_number project_start_date project_status columns to record Displayed 1.
You'll then get the appearance of a coordinated master detail without any of the work.
Of course if you want to update one of those columns that is only displayed once, then you'll have to write some validation code to coordinate with the other rows which need to be updated as well, but it's all do-able.

  • 1)form to capture data 2) massage data/output 3) import data from Step 2 to PDF FORM 4) save for download

I have a project that entails tax forms from the IRS  -- I know everyone's favorite stuff.
1)I need to setup a form that asks the webusers questions regarding their personal tax information -
    2) then validate/massage that data/information and determine what PDF form template to output this data to. (possibly output to 4 forms determined by users response)
    3) output the data collected in step 1 to the correct PDF template/form example template= http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040.pdf  - applying the data to the correct fields - bascially filling out the users name, address, calculations etc.
4)allow the user to save/print/download the produced form in step 3
I know I am not the first person to need this functionality. Can you please simply answer my question - can this be done?  Does it require software from other companies, or is this something that can be accomplished with just adobe products?  If so, can you point me to some tutorials that show me the necessary process to do this?
I very much appreciate any support you can provide me - I need to start on this project yesterday.
Thanks in advance for your time.

In your PHP code, change this -
    $editFormAction = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'];
    to this -
    ?>
    <?php
    if ((isset($_POST["MM_insert"])) && ($_POST["MM_insert"] == "registreren")) {
// add your captcha verification code here ....
// captcha most likely ends with a header command to relocate failed attempts, so make sure you add
// an exit() command after that header.  Otherwise, allow the successful captcha to fall into the following
    // block of code.
// don't ignore that closing brace
    ?>
    <?php
    $editFormAction = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'];

  • Add button to PDF Form to save file to specific location

I have a simple form that is completed daily by various supervisors. I have successfully added a button to the form to email the form which then sends the form to an email group. Now, I'm trying to add a second button to save the form to a network location. I'm looking for this to be a one-click type situation, where the button then saves the form to the specified folder on the network.
Lets call our form "Form.pdf". I'd like the filename to be "Form - date - time.pdf" where date and time are fields on the form that are completed by the user. The location will always remain the same and will be a UNC path ie \\server\share\filename
All users are using Acrobat X standard when completing the forms, will be connected to the network and will have permissions to write to the file share.
This seems like it sohould be easy, but I cant figure out how to do it in Acrobat.
Thanks in advance for any help.

It's only possible if you can install a script on the local machine of each
user. For more info, see this tutorial:

  • Link file name to a field in the form for save as button

Does anyone know how to have the file name auto populate from a field in your form when using a button that does a save as function?

    Hi
    Details:
JSP - Contains a Form for entering ID number.
Java Bean - Stores the ID number entered into the Form of the JSP page and also has the SQL Statement Object
The Problem: Where should you put the SQL Statement Object ?
Possible Solution: I think you are confused about SQL statements execution. This is what you can do. The Retrieved Id number from the Form has to be appended to the preformatted String which has the SQL statement stored in it. Once this is done this statement may be executed to retrieve the data associated with the ID number , if it exists.
Here is a link that should help you build an SQL statement on the fly and execute it. Try out some of the examples.

  • Form Guide save to draft error

    Hi all,
i got a very tedious problem here :)
I've got my form guide, which works perfectly, but when i try to save it in the draft folder within Workspace, i got the following error:
org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: XML document structures must start and end within the same entity.
    at org.apache.xerces.parsers.DOMParser.parse(Unknown Source)
    at org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderImpl.parse(Unknown Source)
    at com.adobe.workflow.DOMUtil.parseDocumentFromString(DOMUtil.java:154)
    at com.adobe.workflow.DOMUtil.parseDocumentFromString(DOMUtil.java:124)
My XSD is well formed and valid and i got this problem only when i set some number of fields' binding.
I.e. if i set (let's say) 30 fields it works, but when i add the 31th i got the error. It does NOT depend on the specific field, but just on the number of fields.
My guide is very big, and my xsd too.
Maybe is there some kind of size limit to the xml/guide???
Any help will be really appreciated.
    Thank you all.
    Alessio

    Hello Gentlemen,
I hate to get stuck in the middle here - but I have the need to write both the XML and PDF to a folder on their local drive AND no idea where to start.
Could you tell me if this is possible, and how I would achieve it? I do have access to programers on our team, if it is beyond the LiveCycle designer features.
Also, (while I'm at it) - I'd like both these functions to be built into one button, and to happen simultaneously.
    Thanks,
    Zoe

  • Customers are not able to open my Quote form I save and send on email.

I need your help.  I have a company provided quote form that is fillable with information that I save and email to clients.  I have had many customers say that they cannot open and see the quote I have attached to their email.  What am I doing wrong or missing?  Please help.  Dan

Sorry for the delay; the new forum software does not make it easy to find old topics.  But it's getting slowly better...
The forms you are sending out are PDF docs?  How exactly are the recipients open them?
There are so many ways people receive emails that some are just bound to fail.  E.g. if users use web-based mail, they may open it in a browser like Chrome or Firefox, which both use their own PDF viewer - not the Adobe Reader plugin.
Some people may open their mail on their mobile phone, which may or may not have Adobe Reader installed.  Many other combinations are possible.
My advice: don't send e-documents as email attachments, but use a file sharing service like Adobe Acrobat.com and upload, then share the docs with the intended recipients.

  • Tabular Form Validation - Save Correct Values

I'm using Denes' example of tabular form validation. It finds the errors and displays the error messages, but I lose any values that were entered correctly. Do I need to use a collection to save them? I've been looking through older posts and one comment was that you'd only need a collection if you wanted to show the user the values they entered incorrectly. With Denes' logic it tells them what line had the error and what the original value was.

It doesn't make sense to post your questions within a closed thread - start you own thread.
It is possible to do that but you would need to save your data into a collection to keep the changes and display the error message on the same page.
