It takes 3hours to make QT ref
Hi everybody, i'm using fcp 7. I've got apple pro res 422 LT clips. The sequence is set in the right format, but when i want to make a qt ref (of a sequence of 2hours whitout audio) it takes me 3 hours!!
What is the problem?
I suppose that the clips in reality are not apple pro res 422, but MPEG-4: this is what MediaHUD told me about the clip.

The laboratory that gave me the files told that it's impossible: the clips are Apple pro res 422, in effect final cut read them as apple pro res 422 LT!

It takes forever to make a phone call go thru.Often does not get thru. Hard for others to hear me.
Both iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 in same plan can't place calls or when call goes thru the other person can't hear me. I went to the Verizon store and they are replacing the iPhone 4 but suggested I go to Apple store(ugh!) to get replacement of whic I know they won't have. So I want to know what the heck is going on that both phones have this problem after attempting other phones, in-network, out of network,landlines, etc. I can do my apps, sometimes the texts don't go thru for non-verizon or non-iPhones. I can recieve most emails, twitter but at times even they lag for a day behind. I reboot and that helps.

Intel takes action and makes changes on own boards for Prescott
According to this PDF document Intel has changed the design/specs of their own boards.
The changes read:
VREG enhancement - Moving from Northwood FMB 2 to Prescott FMB 1.5 support.
New BIOS - Includes updates to address an E9 POST hang. When the BIOS is released, detailed release notes will be posted to the following location: http://developer.intel.com/design/motherbd/BZ/bz_bios.htm

I doubt if we can make the boards Prescott ready with such a simple board mod. If Intel changed the spec too way out, you can't blame MSI for not being "ready" - but we can for them overpromising at the time many of us bought ours

If they need to change a lot of stuff on the board youll probably find a Rev 2 PCB or a new name... -
NEW HP OfficeJet 6500 - Takes FOREVER to make a copy
I have a brand new (4 weeks) OfficeJet 6500 - setup went fine - printer is visible and operates via USB and hardwire to the network. It prints, scans and faxes just fine. But SOMETIMES (I haven't found a pattern) - making a copy (either with sheet feed or off the glass) will take forever. I usually give up after 5-10 minutes of waiting and power cycle the printer. This has happened a couple times - so it's not an isolated issue.
When a copy is initiated, the printer loads paper like it's going to print - also the scanner can be heard moving into position - at which point, the process will stop. The screen is displaying an animated message (something like "please stand by - preparing to copy"). In short, everything LOOKs like it's going to work - but the printer just seems to freeze up at that point.
I'm assuming that the problem is software - because everything else works as advertized.Hello there! Welcome to the forums @bo1923 ,
I read your post about your Officejet 6500 copying very slowly. I want to offer my own suggestion!
Power reset the printer and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you, such as a replacement or trade in. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and if you are calling outside of the US/Canada region,: click here.

As, we can all see I have been working for so long I can no longer spell therefore please forgive my errors
It sounds like he simply wanted to select an element in one document and copied it over to another document.
One suggestion I can give: Step away from the computer every once in a while. It's not healthy to just sit there for hours on end. Get up for a few minutes every so often. -
I would like it to work like it did on the last version, so can I go back to the last version?

242 MB file takes 3hours to download ?
Hi,
I switched to bt broadband around christmas and have had issues with the download speeds. Downloading is ok with the cable plugged in directly to my laptop, but when using only the wireless it is very slow. I have looked through some posts here but am none the wiser.
What do i need to do/check/change ?
download speed - 10.45
upload speed - 0.89
ping latency - 117.25

Go to Solution.which router are you using? wireless for downloading is not recommended for the reaons you describe. have you tried a different channel?
you can try downloading inssider2.2 (istumbler if MAC) and then run it. This will show the broadcasting networks round about you and their channels including your own. If you then enter your router and change your wireless channel to a free or less congested channel.

Laptop takes ages to make connection to home hub
Whenever I start my laptop (including waking up from power-save modes), it attempts to reconnect to the hub - and fails. Eventually, it will find the connection, and then all is well, until I shut it down again...
I can't seem to do anything to speed up this process - this morning it took an hour before I had a connection, though it's probably half that on average. Other laptops and desktops connect straight away.
I'm using Vista, the desktops are XP, other laptops are XP and Vista, all connecting wirelessly to Home Hub 2. The errors I get are invalid key (which it clearly isn't) and timeout. Usually, mine is the only computer switched on, so it's not competition from the others. The hub itself is fine, and onward connections to broadband and the phone line (landline & broadband talk) are normal.
I was also getting random disconnects, but I found something on the net that suggested I disable wireless power save on the laptop - and that seems to have sorted that one. Is there anything else I can try?

Also have you tried setting the hub so it allocates a fixed ip address to the problematic laptop?
You might find mutliple enteries for your laptop in your hub manager.
My PC and Laptop are set to 192.168.1.100 and .200. This keeps them 'out the way' from other ip addresses.
I'd say the best bit of advice on the guide from jarviser is to remove all the Bt software if you have it installed and let windows manage your wireless network. Does a much better job, personally I never use and wireless management utility that comes with any wireless adapter or laptop/PC, I find that they are all unreliable. -
HDV export as QT ref movie is an incompatible format in DVDSP
Just in case anyone runs into this:
I have a 15 min. program edited HDV 1080i 60. Sequence setting is set to handle renders as ProRes 422. No prob so far, edits, plays fine. I export as a QT reference movie. Still ok. Try to import into DVDSP and I get an "unable to import, incompatible format" error. Huh? Ok, back to FCP. Now I export QT movie again, this time instead of using the default of >setting >current settings I try Apple ProRes 422 HQ 1080 60i 48Khz. Now it imports into DVDSP.
In FCP audio in the sequence setting is showing up as 32 bit floating point. (can't change this) Source audio is 16 bit integer. It's the only thing I can figure. Ideas?ref movie both times. It took 2 hours to make the ref movie, I can't imagine how much time a self contained movie would take. I think it's taking so long because I'm using a modified template from Motion in several places.

How to make New Events appear at TOP of page, not Bottom?
When I import photos, they are automatically put into a new Event. That's great. But that Event appears way at the bottom of my long events list, even though my Events are shown chronologically with the most recent events right at the top. I have to drag the new event all the way through dozens of older events in order to bring it up to the top, where I can figure out which other event folders those new images might belong (ex: "family photos, Fall 2008").
This isn't the biggest problem in the world, but I'd love to know how to set iPhoto to create the new event at the top of the list instead of the bottom. Any help? Thanks.Welcome to the Apple Discussions. In the View->Sort menu select Descending. However that will also have the photos in the Photos mode be sorted descending. In the Event mode you can sort the events in one direction and the photos in those events in the other. In the Photos mode both the Events and photos are sorted the same direction.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard. -
The system boots without any problem, applications without a problem when I'm on the desktop and I need to open folders taking forever to open and for a moment I open and blocks other thing that the colored circle appears, use ten folders on the desktop where I'm keeping this information and take process and lock the desktop makes my job a little slow, and does anyone know anything about all of this as repairing system error?
Have then select one of the photos and type Command+i. In the Info window that comes up check to see which application is set as the default application. If it's iPhoto therein lies the problem. Regardless of what is set for the default select Preview and click on the Apply to All... button. See if that will fix the problem.

I have iCaht AV 2.1 and a Powerbook g4 etc etc and I am trying to set up a chat with my Dad in Australia on an IBM thinkpad running Windows XP and AIM Trillion or whatever it is.
What does it take to ACTUALLY have a 2-way Video chat coz NOTHING we are doing is working.... I have read REAMS of stuff on this forum - Ralph has established my computer can actually recieve and send both video and audio... but it just will NOT work. What is the BEST modem and broadband provider here in the UK and in Australia???

If nothing works - I want my money back from buying a completely USELESS iSight to do this..... It would be easier to book satellite time and use a flyaway kit complete with crews either end than to try to use this to have 2-ways......

Both of you should test with others. You can find some robot ("Autoresponder") and human Buddy Names for iChat Test here if you need them. Testing will help you find whose system needs the most attention.
Since you have now apparently connected with Ralph, it seems your computer can connect. Has your Dad tried others? Perhaps the problem is at Dad's end. If so, the list of things for the PC to check in my link above should be helpful.
Check your Broadband Speed. Some Australian broadband can be on the slow side. Therefore, if your Dad already subscribes to the maximum bandwidth that is available from his Australian ISP, he should be particularly careful that his AIM "Video Quality" is not set too high (as explained in the "Mac Video Chat with PCs" link.)
