If no answer satisfy you, you need response or close it.  It sounds you still using 2005A.  That had been out of support for many months already, why not to upgrade to new version?

  • OPEN FI enhancements at three levels - SAP, Partner and customer

    Hi,
While implementing OPEN FI enhancements like BTE the major advantage mentioned by SAP (help) is
Open FI assumes that enhancement will only take place on three levels (SAP - partners - customers), whereas with Business Add-Ins you can create and implement enhancements in as many software layers as you like.
I am understood with the 'SAP' implementation part,
But, unclear about 'Partner' - 'Customer' or 'SAP' - 'Customer' implementation part.
I mean how will you be able to differentiate out between them, and if I implement my own OPEN FI enhancement (BTE) then I must register as a 'Customer'.
Then, in that case can I implement as a partner?
Please throw some light on this point as it is very important to understand the difference.
    Best regards,
    Harsh Dave

    Hello,
the SAP-level is clear ( as you wrote ), mostly used by SAP for country specific enhancements.
The 'PARTNER'-level is intended for the use of companies which write additional products to enhance the standard SAP and sell this software. They (at least should) have a partner-namespace ( something /***/) registered by SAP. So all the functions in these enhancements should begin with that /***/.
The Customer-Level is intended for Customer-specific development - all functions used there should be named according to the Y/Z-namespace.
That's the theory behind that statement. I think practical you could use even in a customer system the partner-level, but you shouldn't do.

  • Mobile iPhone Application for SAP B1 Documentation

SAP releases the following statement on their landing page for their customers about using iPhone App in version 8.8.  Direct copy and paste:
I am already using SAP Business One. Are there any requirements to be able to use this app?
You need to be running SAP Business One version 8.8 with a professional user license. Before you start using the app, make sure your SAP partner configures the mobility settings in SAP Business One.
Where is the documentation that is the checklist for installing and getting the mobile app up and running?  You know, the usual documentation from step A to Z - go to Add-ons and do this, go to User and do this, etc.   All I can find are videos/documents that are marketing oriented.  I have the user guide "Setting Up Mobile Scenario in 8.8", but it is woefully lacking in several steps (ie, it says some fields are mandatory, but SAP does not even mention what "code" column is supposed to mean).
Anyone else have any luck digging out the pertinent information from SAP sites which SAP should have prominently highlighted to its partners before rolling this out?  Where can I find it?
This all seems to be a rather disconnected roll-out.
    Thanks in Advance - Zal

Here is part of the answer - Go here:  https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/sbo-swcenter
Until it is changed, select "Updates" (not the other areas stated in some documentation, videos, and threads) and select "SAP Business 8.8", then "B1 8.8 Integration Component", and then it can be downloaded.
I will add more info as the process goes along, if there is anything more...
    TIA - Zal

  • Using the Execute Preloaded Option for ABAP Dataflows in SAP BODS

    Hello All,
This is regarding the use of Advanced Option in SAP Application Type (ECC) Datastore settings in SAP BODS 4.2, where there are two options to select from for ABAP Execution Option property: (1)Generate and Execute and (2) Execute Preloaded. Since our ECC client is often locked by BASIS team even on DEV environment, we would like to make use of the second option 'Execute Preloaded' so that we could extract the data from ECC tables without having to ask the BASIS team to unlock the ECC client every time before extraction.
The problem is that we are getting an error upon generating and uploading the ABAP program to ECC client. I have searched the blogs and so far I have only found that there are certain ABAP programs or function modules that come with SAP BODS which need to be installed by BASIS team on ECC side to allow the ABAP dataflows to be generated and uploaded to ECC server. I would appreciate it if anyone could provide a list of which function modules BASIS needs to install on ECC or a blog that provides details around using this option.
So far, from the SAP BODS designer, we are performing below steps but getting an error upon generating and uploading the ABAP dataflow program:
    1. Create a test ABAP Dataflow using SAP ECC datastore. Provide the ABAP program options.
    2. Right click, select Generate ABAP Program.
    3. Once the ABAP Program Generation Dialog box appears, check the box "Upload Generated Program".
    4. Upon clicking OK, we are getting the following error:
    The ABAP program <ZRTEST01> for ABAP data flow <RT_TEST_R3> (datastore <R3_DS>) was not uploaded: < RFC CallReceive error <Function /BODS/RFC_ABAP_INSTALL_AND_RUN: RFC_ABAP_MESSAGE- Exception condition "NOT_SUPPORTED_BY_GUI" trigger[SAP NWRFC 720][SAP Partner ### ][clientname][servername][accountname][4103]>. >.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rizwan

    All,
The BASIS team reviewed steps provided in the BODS document and attempted to install the Function Modules but now none of the BODS jobs would work. All BODS jobs are being terminted with the Syntax Error error when extracting data from ECC using ABAP dataflows:

  • Very High messages not forwarded to SAP out of the Business Hours

    Dear Gurus,
I work for a SAP partner and we have the Solution Manager 7.0 + EHP1, SP stack 24, running under a Windows Server Machine with MS Sqlserver Data Base and we're facing the following problem:
In between the business hours we are able to forward messages to SAP manually, however, after the business hours, messages set as 'very high' priority aren't being forwarded automatically to SAP.
We have already triple checked the configs listed on the SAP Notes 1084744, as well ran the Z-Report included in the note 1225682, however no success at all.
Would you kindly please shed a light on this matter?
    Thank you in advance.
    Everton.

    Hello Everton,
If you are a var Customer using the transaction type ZLFN and action profile ZSLFN0001_ADVANCED, the action profile should be AI_SDK_STANDARD.
I don't now if that is the case.
If your issue persists, please trigger a message in SV-SMG-SUP.
    Best regards,

  • Why doesn't SAP use SAPUI5 for this and that

This is my personal opinion about this topic! Again and again I stumble about this and now I want to share some of my thoughts about this topic. I want to share this from a point of view, when I was not a SAP Employee - I worked at a SAP Partner company - because this best reflects the view from the outside.
    1. SAP "wants" us to use SAPUI5
I don't think that "wants" is the right word - the right word is offers! In terms of: hey now even included in your license and open sourced (because you wanted it so). Look - we build sooo many Fiori apps with it - and put in some great enterprise features (right to left, accessibility, translation, ...) and it is responsive. So if you want to build Fiori-like "apps" - there you go - this is your technology to go! This is what I understood.
I was very very very happy that it was build with open standards. But the main point for me another thing - (because I worked with Sybase Unwired Platform and SAP Mobile Platform) OMG an open data protocol!!! OData FTW! I could use ANY front-end technology and consume SAP data - the protocol is REST based - a dream came true. And so I did - yes I played around with Sencha Touch and OData, I used data.js and used it in a standard HTML5 application. We played around with an iOS application we already had and consumed the data. I feed the data into d3.js. I prototyped around with SAPUI5 and I have build apps with it. Brilliant, so I could choose whatever UI technology I wanted.
I always had the feeling, that SAPUI5 was meant for B2E applications - and building many of that - and they should look and feel the same and I can theme the apps. I can use it when I want to make my applications SAP like - so that the user thinks the apps are all the same and everything fits nicely into the Fiori launchpad - great if you want to build partner apps. In my ex company we won a SAP Pinnacle Award - for a native iOS app, no SAPUI5 in sight - but we have received an award, so SAP did not "want us" to use SAPUI5 ;-)
    2. Is it the right UI technology for everything?
At my ex-company I was dealing with mobile applications and web apps. I always knew that I get the best user experience when I write a real native application and if you want it to look like in a very specific way with awesome UI --> you would not do it with a write-once-run-everywhere HTML5 super-styled wrapped (phone gap/cordova) app - you would write the apps for the specific platform and it should feel like it was written for the platform. SAP offered us the SAP Fiori Client that I could enhance the user experience for the Fiori apps, but I was never told to use SAPUI5 it for everything.
The same discussion goes on with: why was the new SAP website not build with SAPUI5, or the UX Explorer (eat your own dog food), or a useful internal app - why Angular, or the other way around why do we even use SAPUI5 and not Angular JS itself. Back to the past - SAP did never tell me to build a website with it, or to build something tiny and small with it (a widget) - or to enhance parts of a website with it - or to build something super-specific with it.
And yes maybe the UI in a mobile app was not SAPUI5 but do you know if it uses Gateway with OData or the SAP Mobile Platform, was the API managed with Apigee, was HCI involved in getting the data from different sources, was it maybe wrapped with SAP Mobile Secure, did it maybe use a HANA backend or some of its features (predictions, text analytics, ...) - are some backend parts maybe hosted on HCP - who knows? So yeah, maybe other SAP technology was involved which you don't see, but in the end it made your life simpler.
Instead of arguing around why this and that was used for this and that - can we save our energy and instead look at the result - which is all what counts - that it was the right UI technology with the right user interface which makes the user happy? I stated something like - does Google use AngularJS for everything? Nope. They offer us something great we can use. Right, maybe AngularJS is not as important for Google like SAPUI5 is for us. But we have something with which we can build our day-to-day business apps with and we do so.
    3. We missed great opportunity in not using SAPUI5 for this and that
Let's think about how projects are going: you want something, you look at the costs, you choose most efficient option. Yes this could mean reusing an existing native application which was written long ago and you pimped it up. Or you had outsourced it to a company which wrote a similar app. Or you bought the source code. Or you have some cheap internal staff which could do it (students, trainee), or you could outsource it cheaply. Or all you have is people with experience in this and that technology. Or it must look in a very very specific way (because marketing says so) and you go native. Or it maybe should even differentiate itself and should look NOT like a Fiori app. And no - I don't think - this is my employees view - we are not for example an event app producer. We normally build business applications. And I don't think that we can write an app from scratch "just" for an event in a certain technology. Yes it would be nice if this and that would use SAPUI5, I think if it would be possible in terms of time and costs and UI wishes and hundreds of other factors we would do it with SAPUI5.
Working at the partner SAP showed me over 50 Fiori apps, now hundreds of Fiori apps are released. SAP now showed that SAPUI5 is going big with S/4HANA. We have seen the Simple Finance solution. I was walking around at the CeBIT this year and I was impressed myself which cool apps and screens have been shown with SAPUI5. I used the SAPUI5 app on a Samsung Smart Watch myself. The SAP Web IDE itself is built with SAPUI5 in its heart. I don't need any other "proves" that SAPUI5 is great. I have seen great use cases for it, but I also know myself when I would use other stuff.
    4. My conclusion
There is never every anything which can cover all different use cases. One-size-fits-all clothes also does not fit for everyone even if it says so. If someone creates something great don't judge it by the UI technology. Judge it by the experience and the value it creates. There are reasons why this and that was chosen. Use what fits your needs best with your requirements. Make the end user happy!

    Hey Denise,
Thanks for pulling this discussion into SCN. Makes it much easier to discuss compared to Twitter. But I also have to apologize in the beginning that my answer now exceeds 140 characters by 50 times.
Let me share my thoughts and personal opinion as well. I will try to look at it from a strategic point of view, as you – as the technical UI5 expert - have already covered the technical perspective.
SAP recommends using SAPUI5 where it fits to customers’ requirements
Let me begin with a clear statement from my perspective: It makes no sense that SAP takes customer decisions.
Of course, customers expect SAP to help them with their strategies and decisions and of course we are helping. But at the end, the decisions have to be taken by the customer who needs to take the specific conditions of the company into account. The most important condition in the context of UX is the end user. But we shouldn't forget the business strategy as the most important influence factor. I’m not saying that technical decisions are completely unimportant, but I would like to point out that other things are more important for a company.
As a result, it wouldn't make a lot of sense if SAP would just want every customer to use SAPUI5. To me, customers need recommendations leading to solutions that satisfy their needs and requirements.
There is not that one UI technology that serves all needs
This headline might be a challenging statement and I can already imagine reactions to it. But in fact I can confirm this sentence easily. You always have to combine different technologies. Some of them are from SAP others not. The selection and combination of these technologies is different from customer to customer because the requirements are different. There are still reasons to use Web Dynpro ABAP and I’m still recommending SAP NetWeaver Business Client, POWL (Power Lists), WDA Chips, FPM based on the given environment of the customer. And obviously there are also reasons for UI5.
SAP already proves the usage of SAPUI5
In general, I see two different use cases here: Developing custom applications vs. adopting applications from SAP.
In the one case, customers want recommendations on development environments and UI technologies that consider their development requirements and existing conditions (e.g. existing skills, given implementations). SAPUI5 is a great UI technology and there are some special aspects that make the decision obviously easy. If I want to create simple business applications that can be connected with my SAP system easily, especially in combination under responsive conditions on multiple devices and targeted for casual and/or occasional users UI5 might be the right choice for many.  Exactly this pattern is what many customers are searching for these days. So, the recommendation for UI5 comes quite often.
Whether or not SAP proves the usage of SAPUI5 in their own world is to me more connected to the use case where customers want to adopt SAP applications. And in deed, SAP is using SAPUI5. There are hundreds of SAP Fiori applications that have been built with SAPUI5 and there have been a lot of other applications developed using SAPUI5, too. And again, there is a huge need for applications for casual and/or occasional users, so that’s a big reason for SAP to create such applications.
    Websites vs. Business Applications
This discussion was triggered by some statements in twitter, that SAP sites such as sap.com, SAP UX Explorer or the latest mobile conference app are not developed using UI5. Actually I see these to be websites but not business applications. I have never told a customer to build a website in UI5 and I would continue to do so.
Maybe we need to discuss the difference between a website and a business application. I guess it is not easy to find a common understanding here, as the borderlines between several worlds have disappeared in the last years.
Some years ago it was more or less easy to differ between:
Native desktop applications running on a specific desktop OS
Native mobile applications running on a specific mobile OS
Browser-based applications running in specific browsers
Websites, basically running on many browsers
In the first three categories we saw business applications. 1 and 2 were selected especially when specific functions of the device and OS where needed to be accessed (for example the camera of the mobile device, the fast rendering capability of the desktop). 3 was also used for business applications but in most cases on desktop browsers.
Today, one can develop browser-based applications that look like native applications and even can access the devices like native applications. Responsive design breaks the borderlines even more. Now, browser-based content can be rendered perfectly on a desktop browser as well as on a mobile phone and a user might even not be able to judge whether it was originally intended to be developed for the one or the other.
So maybe there is no big difference anymore between websites and browser-based applications. But there is still a difference between browser-based applications and browser-based business applications, where additional requirements such as integration into business systems are drivers. Here I see SAPUI5 as a very cool UI technology.
That’s just my 2 (personal) cents,
    JJ

  • Hello and a question about connecting to SAP B1 c#

Good morning I have been having a few issues trying to connect to a SAP B1 database via c#
I have installed the SDK but find the documents to be a bit sparse.  Would anyone be able to point me towards a decent example or manual? Thanks.
I basically need to know exactly how to format the data of an order so I can create a new sales order (via c#)
    Thanks very much
edit: looking at some posts it seems my sdk is missing many samples it should have?  I downloaded it from the main site so I dont see how this is possible.
The only sample folder I have is:
    C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One Development Environment\Samples\UsingUDOGeneratedClassSample
Edited by: snicholls on Mar 15, 2011 11:38 AM

You seem to have downloaded the B1DE (Business One Development Environment) which is almost like a wrapper that has been created around the standard SDK to make some aspects of development easier.
Personally, I do not use it but you will see there are many who do use it!
Either way, the SDK samples and helpfile will come with the Business One SDK - this is included with any B1 installer or patch, in a subfolder called "Packages\SDK". The samples are extremely useful, and the helpfile although not the best is also a great resource.
If you don't have a patch or installer, you can contact your SAP partner (or if you work for a partner can just ask your IT guy) and install it from there. I would not advise trying to start working the SDK without at least taking a look at the a few of the samples provided with the SDK.
(PS the SDK will isntall to: C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One SDK by default)

  • "Partner Determination Steps  for Customer Master" clarification

    Hi,
Let me clear myself at the outset itself, that I searched SDN for my below mentioned query, however I could not find any answer to my satisfaction....here I am posting again
In "Partner Determination for Customer Master", the following steps are undertaken -
    Step 1:
1.a.) Create New Partner Determination Procedure
1.b.) For each Partner Determination Procedure, different Partner Functions, which are applicable for that specific determination procedure, are assigned. (along with other properties like if the PF is mandatory, not modifiable )
    Step2:
"Partner Determination Procedure Assignment", here we assign different Partner Determination Procedure to different Account Groups. In other words, indirectly, we assign the partner functions to account groups. Right? (Please correct me if I am wrong)
    Step3:
"Partner Function". Here we define new partner functions, (which are used in Step 1...)
    Step4:
"Account Group- Function Assignment" - Here we assign the Partner Functions to Account Groups
    Now My Question
    (A) Since the Partner Functions are assigned (via partner determination procedure) to account groups in Step 1, then why Partner Functions are assigned AGAIN to account groups in Step 4. What is the significance of this assignment in Step 4.
    (B) Is there is particular sequence of Steps (1 to 5), one should follow when somebody has to create new customer account group and/or new partner function.
    Thanking you all in advance.

    Dear SR
Leave SAP Partner Determination screen for 2 minutes and first understand the logic
    1. Create the new partner functions
    2. Create the new determination procedure
    3. Link the new  partner functions to the  new determination procedure and add mandatory, non modifiable ,optional creteria
    4. Assign the new  determination procedure to the document type or account group at appropriate level
This is essence and this is for all  8 levels like CMR,sales doc header, item etc
    Now coming to your qn
When you define a new account group ( you might be aware account group controls partner functions of CMR) you will say that your  new account group  will carry out patner functions like SP,SH,BP,PY
That is ACCOUNT GROUPS  function assignment
Whenever you create a new account group  you will do field selection in OBD2 like suppress optional.reqd etc, create no ranges and assign no ranges and also mainly this activity partner determination
These are must settings for a new account group
AG is the german key for sold to party Partner determination procedure
    This is step 1
Then in next step you will tell AG will carry out such and such partner functions Step 2 like mandatory not modifiable etc
Step 3 is link the AG to your account group
Step 4 is partner functions say if you want to create a new partner function say SB special stock partner
(in concept this is the firststep)
Step 5 is once again partner function account group  assignment
So when you create a new partner function you will do step 4 first and step 5 and then 1 and 2 and 3
when you create a new account group you will do step 5 and then 1 and 2 and 3
    Hope you understand now
Partner functions are relatives in your family
Say in a family we have Father ,mother sister, brother (these 4 partner functions)
This is called as Happy Family  and this Happy Family  is the Partner determination procedure in SAP
This Happy Family  is linked to the account group
So Happy family means there are 4 partner functions
So whenever you create a CMR in the account group this father.mother, brother, sister will come as default
Suppose you add another partner function say Uncle
First you have to create uncle
Then you have to tell this account group will accept uncle
Then link the uncle in the happy family that is determination procedure of SAP along with the 4
Then assign  happy family  to the account group
Now when you create a CMR along with father.mother, brother, sister  along with that uncle will also come
    Regards
    Raja

  • Change of partner analyse in sales orders

    Hello,
I changed the partner analyse for sales orders and added a new mandatory partnerrole.
In new documents the partner analyse works fine, but in the existed sales documents I cant´t see, that a mandotory role is missing.
How can I see that this role is missing in the exsting documents???
    Thanks for info
    Nicole

You can create a custom report but there is no standard way to do this.
When a document is created in SAP, it is a "snapshot" of that configuration, master data, and information as it exists when the document is created.  On the SD side there are a few things you can influence, for example, SAP contains some standard tools for mass updating of pricing information.  Most of the document exists in its unchanged state though.
You *may* be able to use VA05 and do this (although I doubt it, no system in front of me right now).  Other than that transaction or a custom report there really aren't a lot of options.
If you are familiar enough with the tables, you can do a "quick view" or an ABAP Query to get the info.  However the SAP partner table is recursive so to avoid getting lots and lots of duplicates you will either have to add some code to a full query, or do offline manipulation of the data.
If you're looking for soild SAP experience to help through some of these hurdles, please contact me.

  • Help for a newbie using the SAP tutorial

    Hi All,
This is the first time i have picked up the SAP SDK and I am following the tutorial that is in the the help document that is installed with the SDK installation.
Under the developers guide section > Tutorial: Blanket Agreement Solution
I have worked down to Part 4 and I am stuck on step 1 (create an installer)
Towards the end of the page it talks about creating a new project and to opening line is:  "Add the BlanketAgreement.exe file to the project and change its Build Action to Embedded Resource."
Can somebody give me some help here please because upuntil now there has been no mention of the BlanketAgreement.exe.
Equally can anybody suggest some more tutorials that will help be get into the SDK.
    Many thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
The BlanketAgreement.exe is a reference to the executable that will be created when you compile the solution you created in Part II - Part III. I think there is a mistake in the tutorial because it asks you to name the project 'Blanket' which means that by default the executable will be called Blanket.exe and not BlanketAgreement.exe. The tutorial also misses the step asking you to compile the Blanket project before you go on to create an installer. You should compile your Blanket project in Release mode before creating an installer. By compiling the project you'll get a Blanket.exe file in the bin folder of your Blanket project which you then need to add to the installer per the instructions.

Personally I'd recommend you give yourself a little project to work on and just get stuck in
    Kind Regards,
