can anyone tell me what i need and where to get it so i can make this work??
thanks much

Hi,
If you haven't already, take everything out of the iPod touch box. A Dock adapter should have been included in the box, as mentioned in these articles:
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP3
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP496
You can get the Universal Dock Adapters for the iPod touch from an Apple retail store or the Apple online store.

  • 2 of 4 speakers and Subwoofer not working for Altec Lansing Lucasfilms THX Surround (circa 2003)

I am attempting to connect my Altec Lansing Lucasfilm THX 5.1 sound system to my HP ENVY All-in-one. I think the original audio card for the sound system came on a Dell with Soundblaster.
I have connected the green audio to the jack in the back which only gets 2 of the 4 speakers working (even after configuring the speakers). The subwoofer is connected to the sub jack in the back panel as well and is not working at all. I realize that I am trying to have an ancient sound system work with my fancy new HP Envy. Am I asking too much??  I thought maybe a driver update might be needed. But in theory, if those jacks are available in the back it should work (she says optimistically).
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Not a problem.  Thank you for the additional information.
It sounds like you have the speakers connected correctly.  If there is only one connector for all of the speakers, it may be that you will only be able to use two of them.  However, I am not certain why the subwoofer isn't working.  Is it selected in the Control Panel / Sound?  I realize that you said the speakers are configured in the Control Panel, but is the subwoofer separate?
I have an old (2001) Polk Audio set of speakers.  I have only been able to get two of them and the subwoofer to work with my new HP computer.  It sounds fine without the other two speakers.

  • Itouch and OLD altec lansing ipod speakers????

I just bought an Itouch. When I plug it into some old speakers that I used with my first IPOD, I get the error "charging not supported with this device". You can dismiss the error. It works fine with the speakers other than that. Question is : Is it OK to use the itouch w/ these speakers?? I don't care that it's not charging, I just don't want to do any damage. I guessing it's fine but just wondering

Do those speakers have an iPod connection on them?
I have some Logitech speakers that don't charge via the unit's power adaptor, but if I connect my iPhone's wall charger via the speakers iPod port, it will charge. It means 2 power adaptors need be connected to the speakers (one for the speakers themselves, the other for my iPhone), so it's not the cleanest solution, but it works.
    Cheers!

  • Compatability with Altec Lansing inMotion player

    Hi guys,
I am thinking of switching to the iPod fifth generation, but I have some concerns. Will the 60GB or 30GB iPod fit into my Altec Lansing player? I use the Altec Lansing inMotion IM3c.
I need to know if it will fit.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi--
How can you tell if you have an IM3 or an IM3c? I'm in the same dilemma regarding upgrading to a 5G iPod.
    Thanks!
    Sharon
Following up on my previous post:
Altec Lansing customer support told me today that
they are to come out with an adapter for the Nano
first and sometime in the future should make an
adapter for the 5th gen ipods to fit the IM3. For
now, they said only the IM3c version will work with
    the 5th gen ipods.
I had pointed out to the person I spoke with that
there appeared to be a lot of 5G ipod owners not
wanting to replace expensive speakers for lack of an
adapter. So, based on the age of a persons' IM3,
Altec Lansing may exchange an IM3 for an IM3c--as
they are doing for me. Now that's customer service!

  • VGA adapter for Itouch 4th gen

I bought a VGA adapter for my Itouch to use on computer monitors. I have one at home and one at work. When I try to play a movie off my Itouch, I get the message "The connected display is not authorized to play protected movies".  Is there some way to authorize my computer monitors to play these movies?  I would use my laptop (HP) but it skips and freezes up when playing movies in Itunes, hence the adapter and Itouch.

That is because of the DRM that is on the movie. VGA is good quality and can be copied.
You can either use a DIgital AV adopter since it can't be copied.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD098ZM/A?fnode=MTc0MjU4NjE
Or an adopter with less resolution than the VGA.
You can also display the movie on TV using the iPod and either the Apple iPod AV cable or the Universal Dock with an S-video and audio cable (see iPod: TV Out support for more information).

I bought an adapter for my itouch 5 so that i won't need a computer to charge my itouch gen5 - however, i noticed that it was acting up in such a way that i was having difficulty swiping the screen and even tapping the icons. Is the only option for charging is the USB charger/connector? Or is there a specific device that I should use?

iPhone 5 and the 5th gen iPod touches are having this problem without a charger, and will probably be fixed in the 6.1 update. See http://www.imore.com/iphone-5-touchscreen-behaving-badly-under-multiple-rapid-sw ipes

  • Altec Lansing driver needed for Model ASW0170510BK Speaker system

I need the driver for my Altec Lansing computer speakers. The speaker system is model number ASW0170510BK
I have tried numerous phone numbers at Altec Lansing and they all go to the same recording stating technical support requires a call Mon, Wed, or Friday between 8;30am and 5pm Eastern time. Good luck getting anyone to answer the phone. With all the changes at Altec Lansing there seems to be no support for older speaker systems.

I understand that you are looking for the drivers for your Altex Lansing Speakers. Normal speakers do not have drivers, they are literally just and output device for the audio that comes from your audio card.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a wonderful day!

    Hi,
According to Page 97 of your Maintenance & Service Guide, the part you need to order is 603694-001 from HP Parts Store.
I would always recommend checking with HP that this is the correct part when placing the order.

  • Altec Lansing im600

My wife gave me the altec lansing im600 speaker system for my ipod touch for
Christmas. On the box it does not list the ipod touch as being compatible. I
was just wanting to know if it's compatible with the ipod touch before I open
    it.
    Thanks,
    Chuck Floyd

Our daughter gave us this speaker system for Christmas. We had it up and working as fast as we could plug it in. The sound is nice for a portable system and even FM Radio was good with the aerial extended.
You use the little white plastic dock which came with itouch on the speaker dock, your itouch sits on that. Nice sound. Only disappointment is that the remote doesnt work as its a touch screen !!!!

  • Altec Lansing imMini no longer works with Nano

    Hey,
I have a the Altec Lansing imMini speakers - which I originally bought for my Mini. When I bought the Nano, the speakers worked perfectly - though the Nano was slightly off-center. Recently, it only works occasionally (after a few plug/unplugs). Now, it doesn't seem to work at all.
The Nano still charges but no sound comes out (except the pathetic squeaking sound that the iPod makes when it first connects to the speakers).
Anyone else experienced similar erratic problems with Altec Lansing speakers - or in fact, anything at all that connects to the dock-connector?

Thanks dwb - it seems to have done the trick (for now, anyway!) Really appreciate your help.

  • On 2011 iMac, External Altec Lansing speakers no longer work after upgrading to Mountain Lion. They DO work on a lenovo machine but not my imac

On 2011 iMac, External Altec Lansing speakers no longer work after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
They DO work on a lenovo machine but not my iMac. reset Pram - no luck. took speakers from wife's desktop, they
do not work when jack plugged into my iMac - Sys Prefs "SOUND" only lists "internal speakers/ built in" as available options.
I used my altec lansing speakers on 3 macs including this one for 5-6 years.....now with Mountian Lion I can only get internal speakers???
Ideas? Any/All help would be greatly appreciated - been going nuts with this for 2 days now.

    Hi,
When you start Messages fro the first time you are asked for an Apple ID
When this is verified and entered it appears in Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts and is Enabled.
The App should have also picked on on those iChat Accounst you had before.
These should be Enabled if they were when you last used iChat.
Exactly which "Accounts" are logged in can be seen in Message Menu > Accounts and will include the iMessage "Account" and Bonjour.
In the Window menu you will see CMD +0 for the Messages window and CMD+1 for the "Buddies" window which is a combined list at this stage.
Go to the Preferences > General Section and Untick the "Collect all accounts into one list".
This will give you separate iChat type Buddy lists.
You can check if that account/Buddy list is set to Invisible or if in the Preferences > Accounts > Security you have settings that will block some people from seeing you as On line.
You are saying Buddies can see you as On Line which implies they are still sending to your AIM based Names (@Mac.com is a valid AIM Screen Name)
I am not sure from your post if you are trying to iMessage their email IDs thinking they are Apple IDs and that they are using Messages as well.
There is no Buddy list for iMessages side
No-one can tell you are "On Line" until they have your details in the "To" spot in Messages with the correct iMessaged contact info (iPhone Number or Apple ID)
Obviously an Apple ID can be an email or look like one.
In some cases they are also valid AIM Screen Names as well.
In the case or the @mac.com name you may have linked this Apple ID to iMessages as well.

    thanks inadvance

Hey!? Fourteen people have viewed my post but no replies. What is wrong? Is it too difficult for all of you Gooroos out there or what? How about a reply from one of you hot Creative tecs!? While I am rather simple minded about these things, it seems like a simple enough problem for those of you who know this stuff. I have a nice new sound card that I can't hook to my speaker system. Help!
