Itouch remote problem

I have a Itouch that i have downloaded the apple remote on to it to control my itunes library. When i open the remote app i can see all my playlist and artist on the screen put whben i select a playlist or any artist it doesn't show any songs. I have a iPad that works fine with the remote amp. If i select any songs on the ipad or on the itunes it will show feedback on the Itouch and i can do next, prev song and select apple TV or airport express setup. I have seen this happen on a couple different Itouch recently on different networks and both using MAC and windows 7 computers just wondering if there is a way to fix this problem.

ITouch EQ Problem - Anyone experienced the same?

I received my iTouch last Tuesday and this is my first ipod. Put around a 100 cds on it and then set the EQ to Bass Boost. I like my bass high!
On bass heavy tracks and some drum heavy tracks I experienced very distorted sound (like an underwater "rumble"). Turn the EQ to R&B, Dance and Pop and the same thing. Turn the EQ off and everything is ok! Unfortunately the sound is then too "thin" for my ears.
Took the unit back to the Apple store in London's Regent Street and the assistants agreed with me and swapped the unit over (minus the engraving)! Tried the second one and exactly the same sound problem. Returned to the store again and armed with the source CD's the guys in the shop opened another iTouch and burnt the CD's to a mac book and then transferred them to the new itouch - same problem. They then transferred the songs to a "normal" iPod and the sound was perfect.
Anyone else experienced this and does anyone know what may cause this problem - software / firmware?
I received a full refund but this is such an amazing piece of technology that I would like to get an iTouch without this problem

I read somewhere recently that the new ipods do have a different sound chip than the previous generation. From personal experience, i only use the bass boost on tracks with abnormaly low bass. Once again personal preference. If it was a manual eq say on your home stereo, and you set the bass all the way up, chances are you would hear distorted bass from your speakers as the track you were listening to already had alot of bass. Correct? If I'm listening to a country song and I have the eq setting with enhanced bass, it sounds fine. If I switch to rap, it distorts. I know from experience to change the eq based on what I'm listening to. This has been true for all of my ipods prior to the touch also. I don't really blame apple. That is why there is a variety of eq's provided. I wouldn't hold my breath for a software update as I think it is more user preference. Forget what name is assigned to the eq and give them all a listen. If none are good enough, you may need to choose another product. Hope this helps a little .

Keyboard input allowed with iPhone/iTouch remote software?

I have searched through the posts but haven't seen a definite answer: Can anyone confirm if keyboard input via the iPhone/iTouch remote software is available with the ATV 2.1 update? I don't have an iPod Touch (yet) so I can't test this out.
Utilizing an iPod Touch/iPhone virtual keyboard would be SO much better than the little white remote when doing searches in Youtube/iTunes music etc.

Works like a champ using 2.0 and Remote on my Gen 1 iPhone.
You can type in search terms and it behaves just like iTunes, narrowing the results as you type.
Plus you can scroll long lists of songs or other content very rapidly and use the alphabet column (like Contacts on the phone) to jump quickly.

Connecting iTouch remote to iTunes on computer

I have spent the last several hours trying to make the Remote function work to connect my iTouch to my iTunes. Here is the setup:
Router - MI424-WR Rev D, sees both devices in question
Computer - HP a350N Pavilion, connected by cable to the home network
2G iTouch with Remote app installed, on WiFi network established by router
I have disabled the firewall on the computer and attempted to ensured that ports 3689 and 5353 are permitted on the machine.
The iTouch is on the WiFi network and is in otherwise great order (updated, connectes via cable no problem).
On the router, I have set Firewall default setting to Low, set up a port forwarding protocol for Apple Remote that allows traffic through TCP 3689 and UDP 5353. I have then applied that protocol to the desktop in the Port Forwarding interface to All Broadband Devices. I have rebooted the router several times after changing things.
I have run several searches online and have tried flushing the remote data in iTunes, ensured that iTunes is set up to share libraries and search for devices. I have double checked to make sure that the Bonjour service is up and running.
I am at my wits end - any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Kind of a neat little app, a little quirky.
It connects with no issues but connecting a library is a little odd.
I installed the app then disconnected the usb cable, at this point the ipod device disappears off the itunes menu.
I selected the remote app then said add a library. Immediately I selected the remote app the the Ipod device appears on the itune menu showing that wifi is working OK. The touch pops up a random pass code. I selected the ipod device on itunes on the computer and it pops up a window saying to enter the displayed passcode which I did, then it said veryfying and then did nothing. I tried it several times and finally it said remote added OK. Again selected add library and it said couldn't connect. and to check my computer or router for a firewall. Checked nothing, did it again and it connected ok.
Can now control itunes from the other side of the house and outside for quite a distance. I am impressed, maybe I should install an outside speaker system now.

Remote problem - no skipping songs?

I've been really enjoying my dashy looking iPod Hi-Fi, but since I updated my iPod this afternoon I can't get the remote to work properly!
It still responds when I up/down the volume, but it won't skip any songs or jump to previous ones (the indicator does turn green though).
Ideas anyone?

It could be your iPod having the problem instead of HiFi.
I had the same experience with my 60G Photo but not my Nano when I plug it with my HiFi, until I did the Erase for my 60G iPod (under the disk utility)with the security option of zero out data, which took about 1-2 hours to complete. Now it works as a charm
If you have another iPod, you can have a try - to confirm whether it is the problem of your HiFi or your iPod.

TV @nywhere master - infared remote problem

I bought the card a few days ago and it runs perfectly fine. I installed the latest software from the MSI site. The only thing is the remote doesnt work. Doesnt respond at all. Ive tried reinstalling the software, unplugging the reciever and re plugging it back and replacing the batteries on the remote and nothing solved it.
I cant figure it out, was just wondering if i could get some help please.

I'm sure KT just misread the posts. I have the advantage of hindsight; at the time of posting he didn't.
Good luck with resolving your problem. Before you go out and buy a new power supply though expecting to resolve your problem, I would investigate the software end a bit more.
I may sit down and play around with my remote control and get a better understanding of how it works. If I run into anything else that might be useful, I'll be back.

Toshiba tv 37av502u and comcast remote problems.

Hi, I have a toshiba 37av502u and I am having problems getting the codes for the silver/gray remote to work the volume and power. Some of the codes will briefly only work volume up and power. Then nothing. TV remote still works fine, but need proper code and maybe a better procedure? Of course you know comcast is no help at all. Batteries are good.

Unfortunately, Toshiba doesn't know what codes will work for a third-party remote. They're not preset codes that Toshiba specifies.

the last 3 days i spent figuring out, how to get my iphone back on my desktop's itunes library, i hope, someone can help me
my whole story:
everything worked perfect. after updating to os3 i had these strange wifi-problems. i brought it back, and after 4 weeks i got a new one back. everything seemed perfect again, but then i then i tried to start connecting via remote, but my iphone just shows up on my laptop.
because this was the only reason to change my iphone, i seriously tried everything, to make it work again. so i checked firewall settings, router settings, re-installed itunes, and then the whole computer.
now in win7 i had the same problem, so i again checked a lot of preferences, but did not suceed.
i am using a thomson cable router, getting my ip adresses automatically and have ssid/wpa2 running.
however, i hope someone can help me getting my phone back to my standard desktop.

Have the same problem since I updated iTunes to version 9 (and sup.) and iPhone OS to version 3 (and sup.).
I can enter the code on iTunes, then after telling me I can remote control my iTunes from my iPhone, I cannot connect and allways have the same message "can't find the library".
What I've already done :
- completely reinstall my computer
- deactivate Windows firewall and Base Filtering Engine, then restart it
- deactivate my router firewall
- deactivate any filter on my router, then reboot it
- delete Remote from my iPhone, reboot it, then reinstall Remote, and reboot again
- activate library share on iTunes
- activate public folders share on Windows
- remove sim card to be sure to use wifi, and only wifi
- enter the 4 digits code on iTunes (worked)
- still the same message on iPhone : can't find the library
I've seen many posts saying that the computer needs to been wifi connected, and not via Ethernet. Is it true ??? It perfectly worked with older versions of these programs, why would Apple have made a change like this ??
Anyone with an idea ???

[Athlon64] RS482M4-ILD MCE remote problems

Built a htpc based on the RS482M4-ILD which is working great. The only problem I've got is that when the board is brought out of S3 standby using the MS Media Centre remote, it stops working - its like the USB ports aren't being re-initialised properly, The only way to get the remote working again is to unplug it and re-insert it.
Any ideas?

Known issue with ATI southbridge USB failure in suspend. No fix yet from ATI. Its an ATI problem - its specified in release notes for mb chipset /igp driver

New itouch battery problem?

I just got my itouch replaced a little over a week ago and I noticed that in a matter of minutes, the battery level went down to 84% after fully charging it last night. Is this a problem? Shall I bring it to the apple store for replacement?

Itouch - itunes problem - please help !

I have the latest firmware on my 2nd gen itouch and its not jailbroken .
yet when i put on music , movies or anything , it goes like its loading the the songs or whatever but as soon as it freezes . It gets to the sync screen at the top of itunes but freezes and if i unhook it , no new songs or movies . but if i plug the itouch back into itunes , it syncs and all's well .does anyone else have this problem ? thanks alot !

How many things was it updating? If it was a lot then it might freeze for just a little and complete the update. If it is just a little bit of things, then you're iTunes may not be up to date or you might have to restore your iPod and see if that works.

ISight, Front Row and Apple remote problems

I've been using my iMac G5 with the built in iSight for a month now with no problems, however a few days ago I tried to pause iTunes with the remote and nothing happend.
I have since tried to use Front Row and cannot launch it with the keyboard shortcuts, or indeed, find it anywhere on my hard drive. Very strange as I have certainly not deleted it and only updated it to 1.01 recently.
I have also tried to use my iSight to test the remote using an Apple help sheet but when I launch iChat AV it tells me I have no camera installed! I know it did work as I took a photo of myself when I first set the Mac up.
Apple's advice on deselcting the 'Disable remote control infrared receiver' checkbox in 'system preferences>scurity' confuses me further as I cannot find this checkbox anywhere.
I have performed all the updates with Software Updat, repaired permissions and checked the disk with no problems found.
Any advice?

Front Row will be included with the next version of Mac OS X to come out next year, version 10.5 (Leopard). Until it's released, there is no legal way for you to use Front Row. Also, until it's released, we won't know what hardware will work with it (as far as remote controls). If history is any indication, it will be a $129 upgrade for your current Mac mini.
There are a couple of options for you right now, though. There's a shareware program called Media Central that will work similar to Front Row for you.

Another iTouch Internet Problem

I can connect to the Internet somewhat, but my iTouch doesn't complete the connection to its close. The URL indicator opens to the website but halts about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way. The "circle thingy" goes around & around as though it's working, but the progress bar holds at a certain level (1/2 or 3/4) of the way. The website seeminly opens, however you can't move to another site by clicking-on to a link on the webpage. The other direct internet connect sites like weather or maps which require internet access also do not complete, the circle thingy just keeps going around & around forever without completing the connection. I've re-set, synced, and the problems continues. No problems with playing my music, but internet connections aren't working properly.

Have you tried resetting the network settings? Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings.

NAC OOB L3 remote problem

Hi All,
I have remote site with above design. "login" is gray out in CAA. I run tcpdump on NAS, and I saw packets are hitting eth1 on NAS. In NAM, I got this error message "Unable to process out-of-band login request from [00:00:00:00:00:00 ## 10.111.18.3] Administrator. Cause: MAC address of 10.111.18.3 not found.".
any idea would be very appreciated. if you need more information, please let me know. it's kind of urgent.

I am pretty sure SNMP is right. switch has been added to NAM successfully. so there is no SNMP issue. I have this problem for the users in remote location only. users in local location can login without any problem.
any suggestion would be appreciated.
I am using 500 Express switch in remote site. is it causing the problem?

Ipod itouch connection problems

WRT54GS v1; firmware 4.71.1
itouch connects wirelessly and is assigned ip address, subnet mask and dns servers as expected. router shows itouch in DHCP clients table.
when i attempt to access web i get 'cannot connect to server' error.
other wireless laptops and hardwired pc's connect and access inet fine.
itouch connects and accesses web flawlessly at local coffee shop
45 minutes on support line with apple yielded no answers - the best they can offer is that it is the router.
help!

FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!!
it seems the itouch cannot handle multiple DNS servers. it turns out my internet provider's (cablevision) first listed DNS server was down. the itouch does not look at alternates. once i discovered that by pinging it, i changed the order of DNS servers on my router putting one of the active DNS servers first.
after that, worked like a charm!!!
