ITunes 10.6 - Scrollbars

Since updating to iTunes 10.6, clicking in any iTunes scrollbar no longer scrolls a list to the clicked location. Very irritating when working with lists containing 100's of items. Only workaround appears to be dragging the gray scroll position indicator.

This is frustrating. It is so much less efficient to drag the scroll bar and heaven forbid use a wheel or trackpad to scroll long lists. The jumping was very precise for large list scrolling. I don't see why apple makes changes like this? It reminds me of the tabs on top they removed from safari. They claimed most people didn't like them. I've never talked to a single person that didn't prefer them, but that's beside the point.
If they want to do everything to please the mass percent of people who want something a certain way then why don't they just add an option, or at least a preference that can be changed via the terminal. Anyone who really wants the change would find a command to set the preference via terminal.
It only seems logical that the code is already in place, because the feature was ALREADY THERE. So why not shift the code to another area for those who want to enable it? I don't believe it would add too much coding or complexity for such a thing. And since when did apple try to do everything everyone wanted? Isn't that why they are who they are now? Steve Jobs said "I'm gonna make something they want even though they don't know they want it." haha. He even said something like that once... O.k. I'm rambling.
Bring back the click to scroll!!!!

ITunes has no scrollbars

OS 10.8.2, iTunes is version 10.7. Since updating to OS 10.8, there have been a number of irritating performance anomalies. So, granted, I do not know if this is specifically an issue caused by iTunes or OS 10.8.
Probably 50% of the time I launch iTunes, it has no scrollbars either in the playlist column or the main window. There are literally, no scrollbars. There is no way to navigate through the library or playlists, other than highlight a song and use the down arrow to move through each one. It becomes a non-functional piece of software.
How can I replace iTunes 10.7 with a previous version? I do not see previous versions on the download page. Or otherwise troubleshoot this?

Coverflow issue -- FAST while dragging, SLOW otherwise!

I've been hitting Google every now and then for the last couple of years to try and figure out a problem I'm having with iTunes Cover Flow -- but it's a strange one so I've had no luck finding an answer.
The problem is with the speed/frame rate. When using the keyboard left/right keys, clicking on an artist in the song list, clicking on the next or previous cover art, or using the forward/back arrows at the ends of the cover flow scroll bar, the animation is consistently sluggish and stuttered.
HOWEVER (and this is where it gets weird)...
If I click/hold/drag the horizontal scroll bar in cover flow -- no matter how slow or fast -- the animation immediately skyrockets and I get completely smooth motion.
I can consistently duplicate this and have confirmed the frame rates with FRAPS using both very large and very small libraries (hundreds of albums w/art vs about 10 albums w/ art). It is much more noticeable in full-screen mode.
FRAPS values
*Cover flow within the full iTunes UI*
Dragging scrollbar: 75fps (consistent, even with crazy dragging)
All other methods: 40-42fps (even when coverflow is minimize to a tiny size)

Does anyone have any idea why this happens? It's been driving me crazy! I love browsing albums visually but this has always bothered me, especially full-screen. I would love it if someone else using a PC could test this so I know whether or not it's my hardware configuration.
It's worth noting that my CPU sits at rock-bottom idle in both scenarios, so it's not a spike issue.
Basic specs:
- Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (tho it happened in XP as well)
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8500
- 8GB DDR2 RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT

As I posted in another thread, when I'm using Safari, even low resolution youtube videos are not streaming properly - whereas they are playing adequately using Firefox.
However, with Firefox even the high resolution videos (HD) are not playing smoothly.
I cannot say for sure, but I think this is related to the fact that the PowerPC processors in our computers are part of an older technology that is being phased out - not to mention Apple is not entirely supporting PowerPC software anymore.

Photo Sorting Malfunction

Hi, recently upgraded to iPhoto 6 (since 3 weeks) from iPhoto 5 that I have had since August 2005. Previously on v.5 whenever I imported photos they would end up on top in the library with all the older photos downwards. This meant that whenever I opened iPhoto and wanted to access older photos I would have to scroll down (which I don't mind and prefer). However, with v.6 I have lately imported quite a lot of photos and at one time, v.6 prompted me to rebuild my thumbnail cache. I pressed okay and ever since the scroll bar ends up at the bottom, which means that when I want to access my most recent photos I have to scroll up. I know I can change the ascend/descend thing. So lets say I change the ascend/descend to have all my newest photos on the bottom, if I want to see older photos I still have to scroll up and I hate that. I know it’s a "small" thing but I really hate scrolling up. You don't see the first page in Pages or Word being on the bottom and having to scroll up. I have tried everything to solve this issue without success. I even deleted my Library completely from the computer and reinstalled it and that works (but all my thumbnails are in a mess so I have to sort them manually) which just results sooner or later in the scroll bar ending up in the bottom.
Is there anyway I can solve this, its quite irritating and never occurred in iPhoto 5.

Called Apple support for 1 hour today trying to sort out why the blue scrollbar ends up at the bottom instead of at the top in the library, using manual mode.
In iPhoto 5 and ALL other applications I have ever used: Safari, Office, iCal, Pages, Keynote, Explorer, iTunes, etc., the scrollbar is ALWAYS in the top corner, but for some reason now, in iPhoto 6 it is in the bottom corner, thus forcing me to scroll up.
Having talked to the support, it seems that there didn't use to be a ascending/descending option in iPhoto 5, but that it was always automatically descending. In iPhoto 6 those options have been added, but do NOT work when you select Veiw - Sorting as Manually. WHY? For some reason, whenever I have manually selected, iPhoto automatically selects Ascending order and because it is greyed I cannot de-select it, and thus select descending, WHY?
I do NOT believe it is up to Apple to decide whether I should have my library in ascending or descending mode, but up to ME! In all other sorting modes you can select if you want ascending or descending, but not in manually, again, WHY?
I please urge Apple to include in the next update of iPhoto, (possibly iPhoto 6.0.2) the option to users to decide if they want ascending or descending order in manually sorting mode. It is very annoying to have to scroll up and so far, the only application in the universe that forces you to do this (that I know of). Apple should be about choice and freedom of such, not about you forcing anything upon me.
Would any users of iPhoto 6 (that have used iPhoto 5), please let me know if they have experienced the same thing, and/or if they library in manual mode always forces the scrollbar to the bottom?

Vertical scrollbar missing in iTunes 10.5.2

I just updated iTunes onto a new Macbook pro running Lion (10.7.2). For some reason, there is now no vertical scrollbar in iTunes, which makes it virtually-impossible to navigate.
Is this a deliberate consequence of the code update, or a bug of some kind? How do I fix it?

You'll probably be better off posting in the iTunes for Windows forums. This issue discussed here was a feature built into the Mac's operating system. There is no setting in iTunes to hide the scroll bar although Apple may be bringing some features over from OS X which hide it when it is not in use. In OS X a scroll bar will auto-hide unless you are scrolling then disappear when you stop. Most users in this forum as well as myself do not have access to iTunes on a Windows machine.

ITunes LP - scrollbars

I do love iTunes LP but I barely use it because I always have scrollbars on my 13" mbp screen. The only way to hide them is to use fullscreen mode.
Why can't iTunes scale the iTunes LP window down to the correct size? I know that scaling pixmaps may look ugly, but hey, it's the 21st century and I don't want scrollbars in a content area that really doesn't need them.
Taking this a step further, I'd love to have the iTunes LP artwork be visible instead of the album cover when playing. Put iTunes to mini mode and just watch the beautiful artwork in the corner of a screen.
But that's just a wish. However, the complaint with the scrollbars really is a bug IMHO.

iTunes LPs are only designed to be used within iTunes, not on an iPod or iOS device.
Try deleting the iTunes LP entry but keep the file(s) when prompted, then drag the file ...\<Artist>\<Album>\<Album> - iTunes LP.itlp\<Album> - iTunes LP.itlp back into iTunes.
This should fix things. If not use the report a problem links from your account history and explain the problem.

Bottom scrollbar of itunes store gone

The bottom scrollbar of my itunes store disappeared last night.
Anyone help???

I sent mine in, with the URL to this thread.
A somewhat workaround is to click on the words "Itunes Store" twice pretty quickly, so itunes opens a 2nd screen for the store. Then at least it is big enough to see the free download buttons for this week's free downloads!

Itunes scrollbar corrupt graphics issue

weird problem with itunes - the background on the scrollbars becomes black after an infrequent period of time - normally less than ~ 3 hours. pics:

quitting and restarting itunes fixes it. i've tried:
trashing itunes related plists
un-installing any plugins
cleaning out all caches
(restarting obv)
reinstalling itunes
reinstalling quicktime
applying latest combo updater
all to no joy. anyone else seen this bizarre issue?

Try using RecBoot to kick it out of recovery mode.

No scroll bars in new iTunes update

Very frustrating, as unable to see all my applications on one page. NO SCROLL BARS, and the keyboard shortcuts dont work either. No way to change to font or screen size. Not very helpful.

Have you tried to reposition your iTunes window. It might be that when the iTunes window is maximised the vertical scrollbar moves off the right side of the screen. 'Restore Down' and manually position iTunes on the screen to see the vertical scrollbar.

On a mac computer how do you get the import button to appear in iTunes so i can do home share of music?

I have a mac computer and a iphone 4, we have two other itunes accounts on our computers and with the other when we have them on the import button is always on the bottom right on the sharing part. My new itunes does not have this how do i get the import button to appear so we can share music?

Do you have scroll bars enabled in the System Preferences > General tab (MacOS X 10.7 or later)?
Try, if setting this to "Show scroll bars > Always" will bring your scrollbar back.

Where is the EXACT version number shown? Where is the menu link to the Help file? Why is there no scroll bar? The new iTunes is terrible in more ways than I can list... how do I switch back to version 10?

You may need to bring up your Menu Bar to see the Help menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Once you've got your Help menu showing, go "Help > About iTunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen, as per the previous versions.

Scroll bar no longer works in iTunes for Mac in Downloads window

I have a strange issue.
When I look at my list of downloads in iTunes (I have 100+ active - lots of podcasts for family) the vertical scroll bar appears but it does not work. I cannot use the arrows at bottom nor can I click in scroll bar or drag window. I am only able to use my magic mouse to move up and down in the window.
This does _not_ happen in other windows. Have looked through dozens of posts but can't find a fix.
Anyone have any ideas?
