ITunes 11 copy and paste playlist
I used to create a playlist of songs and choose the columns I wanted to see (usually Name and Artist). Select All, Copy, and Paste into something like Notes would give me a simple text list with the columns I chose.
Now, in iTunes 11, doing the same thing results in the location/filename of the song being pasted. Not quite the same.
Anyone else seeing this? Is there an easy way around, other than copying and pasting each individual piece of data from the playlist?
There is a little glimmer of logic to this new behaviour in that in "some-many-most" cases you don't want duplicates in a playlist.
But in those cases that you do ??
The correct solution is to pop up a warning "Do you really want to add duplicates .. Yes/No". That would cover all the bases.

Itunes copy and paste get info
I have a lot of info written in the Comments field in my itunes songs and was wondering if I can get automator to copy that field to the Lyrics field. Each song has different information written in the comment field and I have thousands of songs so you can see how this would be tedious to do manually.

2. Open "Script Editor". Copy and Paste the following into the script editor,

3. Save the file in your Home/Library/iTunes/Scripts folder and give it any name you like. You may need to create the folder "Scripts" in Home/Library/iTunes folder.
4. Open iTunes, you will see a symbol in iTunes menu item, this is the symbol for script. Under the symbol you will find your script.
5. Select any number of songs anywhere in iTunes, click on the script symbol and choose the script you saved before.
The script will copy the comment of a song and add it on top of the lyrics of that song (if you don't have any lyrics, it will only add the comment).

ITUNES COPY AND PASTE ARTWORK PROBLEM
Ive had a problem ever since I downloaded the newest itunes update and want to see if anyone else is having this issue. I hope I can explain this accurately.
When you have the album artwork displayed on the bottom left hand of the itunes screen. I used to be able to double click on the artwork and copy that album cover art and paste it onto another track. Ever since Ive updated itunes a couple weeks ago, the double clicking is no longer working. When I doubleclick, it just doesnt work and doesnt give me the option to cut or copy anymore. So now I have no ability to cut/copy and paste artwork from one album to another. I used to always do t his routinely without a problem. Is anyone else having this issue or have an idea what is going on? Did a setting accidentally change?
Im talking about the album artwork on the bottom left of the screen. Double clicking it no longer works- doesnt give me any options. (The music is not purchased from itunes so I often manually update the artwork)Copy from the artwork panel (and image selection between multiple artwork) is broken on this build. You can still copy art from the artwork tab in Get Info.

I am trying to copy many titles of music from my pc to the latest I Tunes. I can no longer copy and paste them like I used to be able to do. I need serious help here. Any thoughts or resolutions? Frustrated

I may be reading too much into things, but is your media stored in a bunch of folders where each folder represents a playlist? If so my script ImportFolderStructure might be useful to you...

Hi. i would like to copy and paste the info in the composer field, year & grouping into the comments field within itunes. (so it would look like "COMPOSER - YEAR - GROUPING")
Is there anyway automator can do this or a script?

Sorry for short novel I am writing. I just wanted to cover as much backround as possible.
So, here it goes. I backed up my iphone 4 after renting a movie. The movie only played the starting credits before I was called on for daddy duty. A few days later the movie would not play, so I restored my phone from my backup. The movie would still would not play so itunes support refunded my purchase and ended my viewing privileges for that rental after verifying that I had not viewed the movie. I then had a problem with my contacts showing up twice in the contacts list after the restore. So I attempted another restore. All was well at this point. I then started having trouble with my pc and decided to copy the internal drive to an external source. A week later I had a system failure and did a factory restore on my computer. I re-installed itunes and tried to copy and paste the old backup into the new itunes. Now itunes just flat out does not see the backup file (I failed to mention that I did a factory reset on the iphone after the last backup, hopping to start fresh). Tech support had me uninstall and re-install itunes and then copy and paste the old backup into the newly installed itunes with no luck. The files are all there, but itunes just doesn't see them (itunes says the device has not been backed up to the cloud or to the local machine). We then tried backing up the factory restored iphone and replacing that restore file with one of my old backups on the external drive. Ok, this is where it gets weird. We replaced the guts of the folder but left the folder itself so itunes would continue to recognize the new backup folder with the old files. Whoohoo, itunes now see's a backup folder full of old files, or so we thought. The new files were deleted using shift delete so they would be gone for good and not mix with any files or folders. When I restore my phone, it restores the files that were deleted from the restore file (pause here for a moment and imagine the stupid look on the face of tech support and I while we silently wonder how files that were permanently deleted were restored). This left tech support and I both scratching our heads. My service issue was escalated to the next level. I waited for the phone call the next day that was scheduled at 10am to my wife's phone, but the call never came through. As usual, apple disappoints again. I just bought an iphone 5s and still have the iphone 4, and am looking for a solution to retrieve my contacts and restore to the 4 or 5s. I am guessing that files in other folders must be associated with the iphone backup in order for itunes to retrieve the files. I loaded iTunes on a new laptop. I copied and pasted my albums to a 4G stick and down loaded them to the new laptop. Placing them in, Libraries – Music – iTunes and than in Itunes used File – add file to library. So far so good. For what ever reason one of the CDs would not load onto the stick. I got the orginal CD and loaded directly to Itunes. Now when I look in Libraries – Music – iTunes it’s not there but it is in and plays in iTunes. What should I have done or should I be doing? It's not a unique situation - happens all the time, smaller hard drives getting filled up.
It's also easy to fix. I just moved my itunes content to a bigger hard drive.
First I made a backup of the itunes database file - iTunes Library.itl. Just in case anything went wrong.
Nothing did go wrong, but I'd have it in case anything DID go wrong. That file holds ratings, playcounts, Date Added, and other metadata.
Second, in itunes change the preferences > advanced tab to tell itunes to put everything on G:
Set the itunes folder location to something like G:Media or G:iTunes
This will affect all FUTURE additions to itunes and not do anything to the existing locations.
Make sure the checkbox for "Keep itunes organized" is NOT checked. I also left the "Copy files when adding" unchecked.
Third, to move all the files to G: without itunes losing the paths, run the File > Library > Organize > Consolidate command. This will need to run a while, so be patient as it copies all the files to the new G: location. This does NOT delete the originals. You will have to do that.
Fourth, make sure everything in itunes is OK and you can play stuff in your library. If you're really cautious you can run a script to check for missing/dead tracks. -
I want to take a voice memo off my iPhone, turn it into and .mp3, and email it. My iPhone shows up under "Devices" in my iTunes but doesn't allow me to move the voice memo files I see sitting there into my Library no matter how much copying and pasting or dragging and dropping I try to do.
Also, I need to convert the file to an .mp3.
How come no voice memo files show up when I go into my iPhone via My Computer? All it shows are the videos and pictures in the DCIM folder, but not the voice memos. Is there another way to access the voice memos other than through iTunes?Email it to yourself, then save the file and then see if you can convert it to MP3.

im having trouble with syncing my ipod touch with my itunes library that i keep on a external hardrive. when i plug up my external hardrive that has all my songs on it, it doesn't sync to my ipod correctly. i have to copy and paste the songs to my ipod device when its connected. i dont want all the songs on there and i want to be able to manually control whats on my ipod. and id like to take some songs off of the ipod also but i want them still in my itunes library though. i usually check the songs i want on the ipod but it isnt working that way maybe because its a external hardrive?? i never had a problem with past ipods with my library on itunes but i ran out of space on my computer and had to transfer all of the songs to my external hardrive. please someone help me!! i thought it would be simple! but it isnt the case! i plug up my hardrive then my ipod, i press sync and nothing gets transfered unless i copy and paste them to the ipod. even though it says ipod syncing in progress! this is really confusing! please help me!! sorry if this is jumbled up and confusing..
Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.

First you need to open song info copy from or paste to the artwork box. It won't work with right click, you need to use the short cuts "cmd C" for copy and "cmd V' for paste.

Copied and pasted my itunes folder to a new internal drive- can I consolidate the library?
I ran out of space for my images so I copied and pasted the whole itunes folder over to a new internal hard drive. I then deleted the itunes folder on the original drive. I went to preferences in itunes and changed the location of the music folder.
Unfortunately, the music library is not connecting to that new location, it is only filling with things from icloud.
I looked up some instructions and now find out that the way to do it is to create a new folder and instead of manually copy and pasting, consolidating the files via itunes.
What can I do now that I have done it manually?

Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
If you've done the backup properly, delete any existing empty iTunes library that has already been made then copy in the entire iTunes folder from the external drive into your profile's music folder. Start iTunes. It should "just work" with no need to import anything.

Copy and paste album art in iTunes 12 for Mac
So I can copy and paste on my Windows version of iTunes 12. But I can't copy in paste album art from the web on iTunes for Yosemite. I have to save the image to my laptop and then click the add artwork button inside Get Info.
Anyone else have this annoying issue?

How do I add album artwork in itunes 11.1.3.8? Copy and paste to artwork box on bottom right in get info screen does not work.
You can only join tracks when importing from a CD and likewise, the Options button is also only visible when importing from CD.
When the CD is in the drive and showing in iTunes, you will see Options, CD Info and Import CD choices. If you select Options, the Join CD Tracks option only appears when you have two or more adjacent tracks selected. See the screenshots below:

There has never been a function to copy anything from an iPhone and paste it to a computer.
All of your media should be in iTunes already.
If it is not and was purchased from iTunes, right click on the device and select Transfer Purchases.
If the media is not in iTunes and was not purchased from iTunes, how did you get it on the device in the first place?
