ITunes 8.1 "searching via arrows" issue

Anyone else having problems searching via the arrows within your music library. Searching manually by typing in your info is fine, but whenever you click an arrow next to a song/artist you currently have, the iTunes Store times out.

Similar problem here, but only for podcasts.
If I click the search arrow from within the podcast section of my itunes library, I get a blank window. However, the search arrow seems to work fine from the music library.
I can do a manual search, but it's really annoying. Fix please!

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

Why I can't see some songs in my 30G video Ipod if I search via artist?

Hi. This is an Ipod question. I load my iTunes library in 2 Ipods,the new 30G video and in the old 20G photo. Why is it that in the 20G Ipod when I search for the songs via artist, all of them appear, but when I search via artist in the 30G Ipod in some cases it only appears one song, and all the others dont, although they are there, cause when I search via song I find them. This is very annoying, cause I hate to search via song. The songs are perfectly edited, the probe is that with the 20G photo Ipod I dont have this problem. I think is a problem with the Ipod cause I been having this problem with 3 different 30 G Ipod video (Mine & my friends). Does anyone has had the same problem?

Ok every son gneeds artist and album, but why in my 20 G photo Ipod I can see the songs searching via artist without any problem. And why in the new 30G video Ipod it only happens with some artists, cause for example I have 40 u2 songs, some with album name and some not, and all of them appear searching via artist. But with another artist, for example def leppard, I have 15 songs (some with album name, and some not) and searching via artist I can see only the ones in some particular album, and others that also have album name dont appear unless I look for them via song

Please understand I am a frustrated customer like you, , but the availability of movies that have been shown before is dependant on licencing from the rights owners. Sky quite rightly have to pay the film studios for the ability to show to Sky's customers. As I understand it they purchase the right for a period of time, hence when the right expires then it has to be removed. The costing of the movies does reflect on the anticipated popularity of the programme, hence an older less popular movie might seem expensive but if not many people watch and pay that would be right. The apparent silliness of having movies in the store and on demand, allows those people who do not have a movie subscription to rent the movie on a one off basis. I agree that Sky seem to be licencing some programmes for shorter periods and it really upsets me when movies appear in buy and keep but not available to rent only. I recently queried Sky about Fortitude being available in OnDemand until 2022!, then of course found out that Sky owns the rights of the series. I can only say be careful if you are a movies subscriber and wish to watch a movie, not to select the Sky Store version if it is available in the Movies on Demand section. I recently wanted to watch a film that I found in Sky store at a cost, and just to be sure I searched for it and found it was to be shown on Channel 4 in a few days. I don't think we'll ever understand how such decision are made as to how long they licence movies for and how the charging model works with the film studios. Logically you would think that a smallish fee to have available indefinately and to pay the studio fee based on the number of rentals would be better, but that might be difficult to administer and Sky would have to have extra server storage fees, which they outsource. Error in iTunes Store Power Search

Hi and thanks in advance for your assistance. I need to research songs and artists and have been trying to do this via the iTunes store Power Search.
Problem is that when I type in an artist name and hit "search", I immediately get this error message:
We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50).
There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later.
I press OK and then do the search again immediately. On the 2nd search, I get results. This is very consistent.
It doesn't happen on another co-workers computer, but it happens on a different co-workers computer.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

I'm experiencing an error involving power search as well, however my error is not numbered. I attempt to search for a song, artist, album, and composer anything and iTunes will appear as if its searching then a window will pop up informing me:
We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.
Everything is in order on my computer itself, my connection is in perfect order and is active and alive. I have been receiving the message above for at least a week.

I am having issues connecting with iTunes Store when searching for apps. All other aspects seem to work just not the search function. Only happening on my iPad. My iPhone and Mac work fine. iPad is updated to most resent os.

Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.
In the meantime ...........

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

But the featured and updates work well.
I tried to sign out and sign in, reconnect my wifi, and reboot my ipad as well...it doesn't work.

ITunes U not available via Apple TV?

Why is none of the iTunes U content available via the Apple TV? It is basically podcast material, whether audio or video, but I cannot find a way to listen/view it with my Apple TV. Any suggestions?

FYI:
As I posted above, I've experience the same issue: iTunes Match cuts out at 25 seconds. All other functions on Apple TV are fine. All firmware is up-to-date. Have reset the Apple TV device. Spoke with Apple Support for abourt 20 minutes. No issues with my network. Went to Apple store and received a new Apple TV2 device. Result after all of this: iTunes Match cuts out at 25 seconds.
Update: An Apple product specialist suggested it might be an issue with one of the ports that Apple TV requires from ISPs. I called Comcast/Xfinity, they checked the aforementioned ports and told me everything is OK on their end.
The problem remains.

Attribute searching via WinUI

OK, after much struggle the content search feature is finally working via both WebUI and WinUI interfaces and I am no longer getting the message:
Cannot connect to any WCP Server. Please make sure a WCP server instance is started for the iFS server mapped on drive ...
However via windows when I try to do a search via document name for a document that I know is there (it is coming up via the web) I am getting 0 files found. Please let me know if you have any ideas on this.

I did as you suggested and went directly to the folder that I knew the document was in and performed the search using the exact document title. Again I got 0 files found when I know this not the case.

How to use an iPad 2 for web search (via 3G only) while using AirPrint via Airoprt express wifi (NOT connected to the internet)

Heres the setup: I have an IOS 7 iPad 2 that I want to use 3G only for web searches/ emails while using an Airport Express generated wifi bubble (without any connected internett) to print web seraches via airprint to a wifi printer.
The problem: the ipad deafults to searching via the AE's wifi and vainly waits for the non existent interent to connect. It ignores the available 3G internet.
The workaround: a) turn off the AE's wifi, search the web via 3G b) once I have something to print, turn the wifi back on and print via airprint and the AE's wifi to the printer.
The question: Is there a way to turn off the AE's internet access. Using Airport utility, I have tried setting Bridge mode and static IPs to no avail. There is no turn-the-internet-off tick box.
In the ideal setup I would like the ipad 2 to search the web via 3G only (straight away versus waiting vainly for the AE to find it!!) and then print the results via the AE's wifi and airprint without having to toggle wifi on and off all the time.....

Search for shared library is impossible, as far as I know. Searches supported - are local and internet.
