ITunes 9.1 Shift+Restore crash - Tried KB976972 hotfix but unsuccessful
Hi all,
I have a big problem with my iPhone and iTunes. When I do SHIFT+Restore, a new window opens (as it should) and 5 seconds later it crashes).
I have a 32bit Windows 7 running on a HP pavilion dv5 1040ez. NVidia, Intel, 4Gb of Ram. I don't know if the exact specs matter that much.
So I have already tried KB976972 hotfix and after the update and computer restart the problem remains.
Is there an other solution / update to solve that problem ?

The final solution was that I downloaded a torrent with the 3.0 original firmware (7A341) and restored the iPod to 3.0.
And don't worry, I didn't download it illegaly,
1. The ispw files are free to be redistributed
2. I bought the 3.0 update when I had 2.3 or something.
So if you have the same problem, I recommend that you google iPod Touch 1/2G (7A341) torrent and download an ispw file and then use the restore button in iTunes to restore to this file.

I figured it out. A week ago I had downloaded a screensaver from a website I trusted and that's when my problems started. I uninstalled it but that didn't help. So, I reinstalled it then used an uninstall softtware app that cleanns more than the control panel does. Then I used a computer cleaner to be sure everything was wiped clean. And it worked. I downloded iTunes for the 7th time in 2 days and finally it worked! And I lost nothing from my account.

ITunes 11.1.5 (64-bit) tries to open, but freezes Windows 7 (64-bit)
Even when it does manage to open, it instantly becomes unresponsive. Browser and other computer tasks become unresponsive. The task manager takes longer that usual to open when it does open. Had to shut down processes in task manager to take control of the system back. Had to force shut off PC twice because at one point the pointer and touchpad functions became unresponsive. Uninstall and re-install results in the same. It started when I dragged 146 re-tagged songs to the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder. At the moment I have over 32,000 files in iTunes.
I used Mp3tag to re-tag the mp3 files I tried to drag in. Although these songs where in iTunes while they were being tagged, I only retagged titles and artists, I didn't even add images to the mp3 files so I don't see why it would be too much work for iTunes to classify the previous versions as missing (as it always does) and just add the new files as it always did.
Of course this retagging process could have nothing to do with what is happening. I went back and extracted the songs from the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder (yes they were still there, all of them) and set them aside in a different location to see if it relieved iTunes from the workload, but no change. I tried uninstalling and installing an older version (11.1.3) but it didn't work. I uninstalled and tried to re-install 11.1.5 but the same thing is happening.
I just tried to view a CD I put in my PC with the purpose to rip it, and iTunes did the same thing.
I run Windows 7 (64-bit), with 70GB of storage available (of 449), Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor, and 8GB of RAM to work with.

There are several ways an add-on can cause iTunes to act erratically, such as those listed below:
- Loss of iTunes functionality, such as the Visualizer
- Distortion or irregularity in the iTunes interface
- Slow performance
- iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly
- You see this alert while syncing: "... cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."
If you see the above symptoms or other unusual behavior, you can disable any third-party plug-ins by opening iTunes in Safe Mode:
- OS X: Hold down Option-Command.
- Windows: Hold down Shift-Control while opening iTunes.
If opening iTunes in safe mode resolves your issue, see the above resource for steps you can take to minimize impact.

My old iPhone 3GS that I had with no service ,I forgot the passcode. I Tried multiple try's and I never figured it out. I even tried the passcode that was right when i remembered.
So now it is on a screen with a UBS cord and a iTunes logo on it and will not go away . I tried every thing. I love this phone because is and iPod to me.

ITunes on PC does not crash when syncing IPhones but crashes halfway through IPad sync
Itunes and Ipad on latest software iterations.
When syncing IPhones all perform faultlessly. When I try to sync. my IPad ITunes crashes halfway through the process.
For the last two weeks I have not been able to remove downloaded TV programmes via ITunes and have had to perform the removal via
<Settings>General>Usage>Manage storage. One audiobook is not visible on ITunes and cannot be deleted by any method I have tried.
I am storing all media on a WDCloud drive as I have over 1.3 TBytes of films, TV Programmes and audiobooks.
I have tried repairing both ITunes and Quicktime to no avail.

I noticed that the sync crashed at the point where it was downloading either Apps or Video (TV Progs). I tried a 'delete all media' reset yesterday. Problem still present and then I had no media or Apps other than some of the Apps as supplied on initial startup.
Today I tried a different USB to Lightning lead and at one point I thought it was working with Wi-Fi sync but whilst it didn't crash, the Icons of the Apps that were present on the IPad before the problem occurred are in the same place as before but greyed out and the Apps obviously have not been loaded.
Funnily enough I did a factory re-set just before you sent this so will post again if this works to help others. I believe this is going to be an IOS 8 problem like so many other IOS 8 problems I have found.

How do I transfer my Itunes library from my old PC to Mac air? I have tried the migrate download but the old PC not liking it. What other options do I have? I have an ITunes library on both PC and Mac Air and I want it all on the Mac Air.

I have lost my previous itunes library content after atempting to sync my ipod. Is there any way that apple can provide me with a history restore for an itunes library?
if you have all the songs still on your ipod you can put them back on your computer from the ipod... just DONT LET ITUNES SYNC WITH YOU IPOD when you plug it back in. change the settings to manual control for syncing ipods or your itunes will delete all of them. i dont know what to do for the unchecked songs... i had a similar situation and i used a mac program to take the songs off of my ipod. hope this helps.. just google for an application that will let ya take songs off the ipod.

Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:

That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
In Safari, select

and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?

1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. Hello, Im trying to update my ipod 3g 4.2.1 to ios 5.0.1.When I try to update,itunes says that 4.2.1is the lastest sofware for my ipod.I also tried to do it manually(shift+restor)itunes says that the"ipod could not be restore because the fimwire isnot compatible" I need some help on this.
The messages are saying you have a 2G iPOd. Those canonly go to 4.2.1. Apple only made 32 and 64 GB 3G iPOd. A 32 can be either. To further identify yours:

running windows vista prem. every time i try and down load the new version of itunes to laptop the net crashes when instalation is complete.

my iphone 4 will not turn on but when connected to the pc in itunes it says my device is in recovery mode and when i do SHIFT restore and select my ipsw it extracts then this 3914 error message appears. i normal restore then it this error message appears 1601. and my iphone is in RECOVERY mode. and holding the power button and the home button doesnt do anything my latops just makes a ding sound after 6seconds. My iphone screen is just blank and will not come on and i really need help
