ITunes BEX crash in Windows 7 Home Premium

Hi all, trust me when I say I researched this extensively before asking. I just got a new iPhone 5C today, and of course had to upgrade to the latest 64-bit iTunes from the version that had been flawlessly working with my 3GS for years. It absolutely will not finish opening no matter what: I've tried reinstalling, using an older version of 64-bit iTunes from oldapps.com, uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of QuickTime, and removing the K-Lite Mega Codec Pak (another bizarre suggestion that apparently worked for some). All this activity was followed up with deep registry clean using Wise Registry Cleaner and other standard housekeeping procedures.
Here is the crash report -

I can see this issue has been plaguing iTunes upgrades in Windows for some y4ears now. Hope someone can help with the latest iteration, or none of my apps or music will ever make it onto the phone, and I'll likely tell my mobile provider I want to go back to the 3GS. TIA...

This is not Apple Support, but iTunes users.  Turingtest2 has a detailed tutorial here: Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates which should help you sort out your problem.  Some users encounter issues where the components that make up iTunes are not correctly removed, replaced or updated when a new version of iTunes is installed; others here can advise you on the procedure to follow to remove all the iTunes components before installing an update.

    Hello Rachet Jaw,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iTunes. I found a few articles I suggest for the issue you described.
If you are getting a white screen when accessing the iTunes Store, I recommend reviewing this article:

  • Can't install itunes 10.4 on Windows 7 home premium

I am not highly technical, so please bear with me:
After repeatedly being unable to update itunes 10.2, I thought I should just uninstall it and install itunes 10.4. Wow, what a mistake. After many hours I now can't run my MS Office programs AND I can't load or run itunes.
Originally, while trying to update itunes, I kept getting the message "errors occurred while installing the updates. If the problem persists, choose tools > download only and try installing manually." This confused me as I could not find "tools."
After some reading online, I decided what I should do is download the Windows Installer clean up tool. Apparently this was the BIG mistake. I selected Apple items to remove with msicuu.exe, only to find that now my MS Office 2010 programs no longer run ("Microsoft Office not installed for this user"), and I still can't install itunes.
I tried installing itunes 10.2 and got a message that I must install a 32-bit version of itunes.
I used the cleanup tool once again and tried to install itunes 10.4, and got the message: could not open key: UNKNOWN\components\DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\6A262021B4A79884EA585F5E86D 86338. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel.
Now when I try to run MS Office software, getting message "Preparing to install", then, Configuring Microsoft Office Professional Plus, then something about the program not being installed for this user (I'm the only user).
I realize that this board probably can't help me with MS Office software, but can you help me with itunes?

SOA Suite works perfectly on my windows7 pc.

    Hi,

  • Itunes won't open Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Today I bought an Itouch 8GB. I downloaded iTunes to get the latest greatest version. I ran the program and agreed to everything, took all the defaults. However when I launch it I get nothing. Just an hourglass and then nothing.
I did a system restore to an earlier date and tried again, same result.

You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
When you go to the iTunes download page:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts.

  • Just updated iTunes now it freezes and crashes my computer? anyone have a solution? I'm using windows 7 home premium

My iTunes has been freezing when it opens then crashes my computer. I have uninstalled it, reinstalled, updated yet it still will not open? I am using windows 7 home premium 3.2GHz with 4Gig of ram. All my other programs work flawless but iTunes will not? anyone have a solution?

Having found a working library file it may pay to copy it into the standard location and reconnect to it there. See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash for the steps I would normally have given.

  • I have windows vista home premium and all other versions of iTunes worked on my laptop iTunes 10 won't work, I get a message saying I'm not connected to the Internet when I am. Why isn't iTunes recognizing my browser configuration?

I have windows vista home premium and all other iTunes worked on my laptop, I downloaded iTunes 10 and now the iTunes will not connect to the Internet. I use Mozilla firefox on my laptop and for some reason it keeps saying the connection timed out and I'm not connected to the Internet when I am. Why isn't iTunes recognizing my web configuration?

It probably has to do with your security and/or browser configuration.
When my laptop crashed last year and I had to get a new one, I dealt with the same thing. First, go to your control panel and select the security section. See if your firewalls are up or not. If they are, turn them off. If you have any software to speed up your browser, that can affect the connection as well. Go into that software and disble/turn it off. If this doesn't work, contact customer support. They have a few other tricks they had me try that worked, but I can't remember them now.

  • Cannot load iTunes Match onto Windows 7 Home Premium.

Loved the idea of iTunes match and was eager to be able to have solid backup across my PC's and my phone. My XP computer was able to get through the process with no glitches. However my Windows 7 Home Premium PC crashes when attempting to access Genius, iTunes Match, and occasionally the iTunes strore itself. Have tried the multiple downloads of the 10.5.1 64 bit version, clean install etc...anyone find another option??

    Hellooo Apple Community!
I'm trying to install iTunes on my computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm not sure if iTunes is compatible with my computer operating system because when I try to install it, it says the installation is completed but it says there was an error so it won't let me get itunes! Can someone please tell me if iTunes can be downloaded and installed on "Windows 7 Home Premium" and if so, how?! I need iTunes asap, I have an iphone 4 running ios 6.1.3. Please get back to mee!!
    Thankyou thankyou thankyou!
    Natalie.

I just tried running the Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test both in normal mode and in safe mode.  Both times it indicated a failed read test on the HDD. The last two tests also failed.  I forget what those tests were called.
I am really beginning to think I have a bad HDD and the problem just happens to be in the reserved partition where my factory system software resides.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium Crashes in Sleep Mode

Over the last few days my Windows 7 PC refuses to wake up from sleep mode.

The DMP file is inconclusive. You could run driver verifier to find the underlying issue but WPR is often easier.
In order to diagnose your problem you will need to download and install the below
Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit)
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30652
Help with installation (if needed) is here
When you have, open an elevated command prompt and type the following
WPRUI.exe (which is the windows performance recorder) and check off the boxes for the following:
First level triage, CPU usage, Disk IO.
If you problem is not CPU or HD then check off the relevant box/s as well (for example networking or registry)  Please configure your as per the below snip
    Click Start
It will reboot 3 t imes and record the data to a file and tell you its name and location.
Zip the file and upload to us on Onedrive (or any file sharing service) and give us a link to it in your next post.
These crashes were related to memory corruption (probably caused by a driver).
Please run these tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you don't
know what it is you probably are not overclocking.
Since it is more likely to be a driver please run verifier first.
1-Driver verifier (for complete directions see our wiki here)
If verifier does not find the issue we can move on to this.
2-Memtest. (You can read more about running memtest here)
