ITunes Burning Volume

Has anyone noticed a change in the volume when burning CDs in iTunes.

closer0,
Make sure "Sound Check" is not enabled in Edit->Preferences-> Advanced Tab -> Burning
Sound Check tries to equalize the volume throughout the songs. Sometimes this leads to decreased volume.
Hope this helps,
Nathan C.

  • Resolution to iTunes Burn ID3 issue

Here is one resolution to not getting the ID3 tags when burning in iTunes
Go to edit>preferences>advanced>burning> if the audio CD is checked then your CD will not have the ID3 tags. But it will play in all or most CD players.
To get the ID3 tages you must have Data CD/DVD checked. If the music is bought @ iTunes music store and you give this disk to someone else or put it on one of your other computers you can transfer the music to your iTunes and it will have all the ID3 tags but you will have to autorize that computer to be able to play that music. You can have 3 or 5 computers authorized under your name. This is one of the ways to do it if you are backing up your iTunes.
If you have MP3 checked you will also have the ID3 tags and I am assuming this will take care of the problems people are having using iTunes burned CD in their CD Players that display ID3 Tag info
Hopefully this helps with some of the ID3 tag issues while burning in iTunes.

It overwrites the Artist too, it seems.
Do you know how it is setting the "Podcast is true" setting, and how I can disable that??
This is all very confusing and annoying. iTunes 4.9 didn't do much of this, and it was a better podcast client in my mind. iTunes 5.0 making me consider switching to another podcast client so I can have one that makes sense.

  • Itunes burns all but purchased music

I'm trying to burn a playlist of existing and purchased music, but each time it burns, it excludes the purchased music. I have never burned the purchased music before, so I haven't reached the 7 song limit, and I know I checked those boxes. The suggestions given by itunes haven't helped. The CDs are fine otherwise. Any help is appreciated.

1st check if your purchased music will play on your Mac - maybe you need to authorize those tracks.
2nd check twice if your iTunes Burning Preferences are set to "AudioCD" (or DATA DVD/CD) as purchased music can't be burned to MP3 CDs.

  • Can iTunes burn DVDs into our idevices?

Since burn CDs is a piece of cake but can iTunes burn DVDs into our idevices.

I haven't tried to convert DVDs to iPod yet (had it for a week) but in the past I tried to convert DVDs to my PocketPC handheld using many tools and found that there is no quick, easy and trouble-free way to do it. The fact that Apple chose to use specific (proprietary) video codecs does not help. You have to get your hands dirty, learn a lot about video, codecs, bitrates and so on. It was more time and energy than I was willing to spend. I may give it another try though. I bought the Apple AV cable to view video on TV and it'd be a shame to not use it.
You may find some tutorials and other conversion tools at this website: www.dvdrhelp.com, they also have discussion forums. (hope it's ok to post this link)

  • ITunes burned CD track info does not show in another mac.

iTunes burns a CD of imported LPs.  Track info was entered with Audacity, saved as aiff and then imported into iTunes .  The track info shows up in my car CD player but not another mac.  Any suggestions?

Update: after trying 6 discs that failed, the next few worked fine. Both iTunes and Finder displayed the actual disk name and track names. However, going back to the previously failed disks did not change the outcome. They still failed. That worked for another 6 or so disks, then this morning I ran across another one that got looked up in iTunes, but not in Finder.

  • When I send project to iTunes the volume is too low. I have auto normalize checked.

When I save project to itunes the volume is too low on the entire project.  I have auto normalize checked.  I have been sure to reduce the volumes below the red clipping dots.  This includes the master volume.  It is fine in GB, but in itunes I need to increase the volume slider to max to bring it up to what I was hearing in GB.  Is sthere something else I should do to reproduce more volume when I share a project to itunes?  Thank you.

DId you try a comparioson when exporting the same song with and without "Auto Normaize".
Technically there is the possibility that "Auto Normilize" will reduce the overall level of your final mix. If there is a short spike above 0dB that you don't hear as an audible pop and GarageBand brings down the overall level to that that spike to 0dBFS, and by doing so, lowering that level of your mix by that amount.
    Hope that helps

  • Why won't itunes burn second disc

everytime i try to burn a playlist that requires multiple discs itunes burns the first one but when i insert second disc it ejects the disc again and asks for a blank disc i have tried different makes of disc and tried different drives and the same keeps happening

I found a work-around.  May not work for everyone but it did work for me.  My wife has her itunes on another computer on our home network.  We do sharing of our itunes libraries.  It is an older computer using Windows XP and she hasn't updated her itunes for a while.  On a hunch, I shared my copy of the audiobook with her itunes library.  I then tried burning her copy to CD's and it worked fine.  Actually, it also updated the number of burn copies available.  When I was having problems on my Mac - each time I had an unsuccessful attempt it will take one more of the available burn copies.  "You have burned 4 copies of 7 available.  You have burned 5 copies of 7 available, etc."
When I burned the copy from my wife's computer, it said, "You have burned 1 copy of 7 available."
I know this solution won't work for everyone, but it did work for me.  Good luck. - SS

  • ITunes 12 Volume

After upgrade to OS-X and latest iTunes, my iTunes song volume is significantly reduced--even with system volume at maximum. Anyone having similar problems? Thanks.

Disregard previous post; the upgrade to OS X reset volume output to USB display vice "line out" for my external Bose speaker system. Set sound to line out; All is ok.

  • Does iTunes Burn Track-At-Once or Disc-At-Once?

I've been trying to find the answer online but I haven't found a definite answer yet. I've seen a few web postings which seem to indicate it burns TAO but I'm still not sure. I do know that iTunes doesn't offer the option to burn TAO or DAO like other burning programs. If it does indeed burn TAO, why is that so? From what I understand, DAO is considered the best method so why doesn't iTunes burn using that method? And since all of my discs have been burned using iTunes does that mean they're of lesser quality than if they had been burned using DAO? Thanks to anyone who can answer these questions and settle my confusion.

    From the iPad User Manual:
Position the insertion point: Touch and hold to bring up the magnifying glass, then drag to position the insertion point. Select text: Tap the insertion point to display the selection buttons. Tap Select to select the adjacent word, or tap Select All to select all text.

  • OSS 3D caused iTunes burning issues

A bit of information for those that have iTunes burning issues.
I installed OSS 3D v 1.62, a sound enhancer programme for iTunes on 14/08/06 and started having CD burning issues... iTunes wouldn't burn beyond 2 tracks and then froze before "finishing".
On uninstalling OSS 3D today 19/08/06, the iTunes problem I encountered were fixed.
If you have issues re burning check recently installed software.

update ... ran sfc /scannow as admin.  windows reports 100% integrity.

  • Il-Logic-al: When I share to iTunes, the volume drops.

I've been recording tracks in Logic Pro X, and when I play them it's nice and loud.  But when I share I share to iTunes, the volume is very low, about half the volume of a typical iTunes song.  How can I keep the volume up?

Turn OFF Normalize in the bounce dialog.

  • Songs on CD burned in iTunes have volume level issues

When I burn a playlist to a CD, some songs exhibit reduced vocals volume levels. When I play the CD on my home stereo system, the songs have greater bass response. It appears the burning process tries to level the music response within each song.

This article will explain why that is happening.

  • Disconnect between Itunes play volume and burned CD volumes

I have a 20-song playlist; when played from there in Itunes, the songs are nicely normaled. But when I burn CDs from the playlist, on playback on other CD players, some of the songs are absurdly louder than others. Changing EQ settings for those before burning the CD doesn't work; and I've had the same result whethet or not "Sound check" has been selected in Preferences.

    Dennis,
Sound Check and EQ settings only affect playback in
iTunes. They will not affect how the song is burned
    to CD.
    Matt
Just to expand on this, SoundCheck is specifically designed to normalise playback from iTunes in direct playback. That's why it takes up CPU cycles and screws with your battery life if you're on a laptop.
To be honest, the best product for creating CDs that have a bit of craft attached to them is Roxio's Toast/Jam product. The Jam part allows adjustable gain on a track-by-track basis, or automated normalisation. The product also gives you complete control on crossfades and both Toast and Jam support CD-TEXT which is nice if you have a compatible head unit in the car or whatever.
That said, you may wish to try and see if altering the gain/eq in the individual tracks info (Click on a track, and CTRL+I or CMD+I depending on platform) follows through to a CD burn. I would check myself, but I've just used my last disc in the flat and I'm not going to the car till tomorrow morning.

  • Problems exporting GB2 songs to iTunes/equalizing volume

I’m posting this in both GB and iTunes becuase I don’t know where the problems lies.
    1) I’ve exported five tunes I created in GB2.
    a) Average length of song is about 3 minutes;
    b) Volume settings were pretty much the same. I deliberately set them as close as I could. Especially the Master volume;
    c) Average composition of songs is: 3-4 green (MIDI) tracks and 2 or 3 blue (Digital or “real” instrument tracks;
    d) All volume settings in iTunes were the same.
When I exported them to iTunes, they were all “Bounced.” To the best I could observe...difficult because the little window just flashed a message under the “Bounced” message, reasons were “Unknown Album Artwork,” something about “Volume,” and another reason I coundn’t decifer.
    However,
It appeared iTunes really did accept these songs. They were listed as “Bounced,” “Bounced 2,” “Bounced 3,” etc.
When I played them back, they sounded alright. So, I typed in the acutal name of the songs (By deleting “Bounced” and typing) and put them into the playlist I wanted.
When finished, burned a CD. However, the audio volume of the songs did not equalize. I did, indeed, ensure that the “check volume” button was checked in iTunes. But when I played back from the CD, volume levels were clearly not equalized. (I know iTunes will not perfectly “equalize,” but these are obviously out of whack.
Bottom line: It is going to be very difficult to burn a CD with volume levels for every song jumping all over the place.
What’s wrong and how do I remedy this?
Addendum: I have an iPOD mini. When I play songs from any given playlist, volume is also a problem. One song is at a given level, the next much louder, another much softer.

  • 2 users on same iMac; 2 different iTunes; burned CDs not appearing in iTunes

My wife and I have an iMac 27", and we have our own users set up; however, we wish to share iTunes music library with each other.  (She syncs her iPhone with her user signon, and I sync my iPhone with my user signon.)  The songs we wish to share are all CDs that have been burned into iTunes using my user signon.  The songs show up in my iTunes; however, they do not show up with her signon.  Is this possible, or does that go against piracy laws?
I currently have iTunes in a public (shared) folder; however, this does not seem to work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Timo

Hmm... this is a bit technical,
Try posting in the iTunes Match forum, you'll probably find more knowledgeable folks there.
