Itunes closes at start up.  Seems to be bad itunes helper

When I boot up my machine itunes helper has an error and closes. When I try to run itunes the same thing occurs. I have re installed itunes several times with no luck. I have also uninstalled quick time thinking that might be a problem. No change. I have even tried to defrag my hard disk after uninstalling itunes to try to start from a clean slate. At this point nothing works and I get itunes to run. When I install it the error installation appears to complete without any problems. Has anyone had this problem? Is it a problem with the latest release? I have been using itunes for 2 years without a problem.

Have you ever installed any extra codec packs, the following are know to cause trouble: ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec
Also WinAVI video converter
If you have any of those, uninstall them.
It looks as though you may have a broken QUicktime causing the trouble.
Could you go to your control panel and run Quicktime preferences, post the exact text of any error message in full.
I think you may need to fully remove iTunes and QUicktime and then reinstall. But it is important to get the codec issue sorted first if necessary.
Here is the reinstall method, but only do it if you have not installed any of the problem codecs or you have uninstalled them.
First download fresh copies of the iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now completely remove iTunes, Quicktime etc using the following method.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
Restart you PC and install the stand alone Quicktime and check to see if it works. If it does, try installing iTunes. Have virus checking off while doing the reinstalls.
If there is a problem with one of the uninstalls, get back and we can deal with that.

Updated my ipod touch to ios6 now apps close without warning and seems really slow to repsond. Also doesn't always connect to the Wifi never had any problems before upgrade

Try a hard reboot (hold home and power buttons down at the same time until your iPod reboots). If that doesn't work, do a restore in iTunes and do not restore from backup. You wqill lose your game data and settings, but your iPod should run better and work properly.

  • Download I-Tunes 11.1.4 Failed: says Apple Mobile Device failed to start.  seems like it has something to do with MSVCR80.dll, but not sure what to do about it

Says Apple Mobile Device failed to start.  Seems like it has something to do with MSVCR80.dll, but not sure what to do about it.  Now I have no Itunes at all

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

    Someone can help me ???
    Thank,

Take a look at iTunes for Windows: "Error 7" message when opening iTunes. Perhaps your .NET Framework needs a repair.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Photoshop won't launch, closes on start.

We have photoshop version 5.5 on one PC (XP) and VS 7.0 on another and though they are old they worked happily for years till just lately, now both fail to launch, "Adobe Photoshop has encountered a problem and needs to close" ??? What could be wrong ?
    Help is apreciated.

"Are Photoshop and OS fully updated.."
Not ph shop because it can't be opened, OS - yes
"  and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop,  just tried that - no luck 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, can't deactivate beacus can't open ph shop.
system maintenance, I think that is pretty much done font validation, don't know what that is -  surely can't be something like that  ??)
Looking thru Program files found version 5.0 that wont' open either. Remember, the old versions have been sitting in there for some years with 7.0 working fine. A second PC here has 7.0 on it and it stopped working as well - same behaviour. We have a older PC here as well we hardly use (XP pro as well), it has 7.0 on it which works fine(!!).
    Anyone? :O)

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

Not easy if vital information is missing. Sometimes it seems like people are using the internet the first time...
    What version of Indesign?
What OS? "Rights" sounds like Windows
What is happening when starting it?
If Windows, where was it installed?
If Windows, do you have admin permissions?

Try booting in Safe Mode by holding your Shift key down when booting. Also, try holding the eject key down when booting to eject the DVD. If you plug a mouse in and hold the clicker down when booting, that should eject the DVD.

  • HT203175 How does one fix the  problemd.... "application itunes helper.exe - mobile me service failed to start becasue missing  MSVCR80.dll" ?  This started after the last "update" of itunes

With a recent update of itunes, ( a couple weeks ago), when plugging in my iphone, itunes did not automatically launch...and when manually selecting itune to open I recieve the statement ...
"application itunes helper.exe - mobile me service failed to start becasue missing  MSVCR80.dll" ?
I have gone to the itunes site and reloaded itunes....and did not fix the problem. ....help

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Encore Close at Start UP _ *

I have the same issue as many people since the launch of CS4 My Encore Closes at start up when Encore is setting up The Transcode. I have updated Encore to date and that has not helped at all. Can anyone help me I need a solution! Not suggestions

    Welcome to the forum.
As for solutions, you first need to define the exact problem. I do not see any real information to even begin to guess at a solution.
Now, here is a suggestion, though you stated that you did not want those. This ARTICLE will give you some ways to gather clues to what the problem is. That will help define the problem and that might lead to a solution. If you can find out what is happening, when Encore closes down, you can start to address that/those issue(s).
    Good luck,
    Hunt

On Calendar, I have tried to change the "Day starts at" and "Day ends at" many times however, it just does not seem to change. Please help.
This for Calendar on my Mac which of course effects my iPhone and iPad.
I don't need to see the hours from 1 am to 6 am
    Please help!

Well, assuming all of the above, Notifications, etc., it just might be time for a visit to the Apple tore genius center for a session with the techs.  See if it is a fault in the hardware or just an iOS reinstall is the answer.
One more thing you could try, backup so you have a record of content, then restore to factory conditions be an Erase All Contents and Settings.  Then restore from the backup you just made.  That has helped some with WiFi problems, may be it would work with your problems.
But with that behavior of another app with problems, the geniuses looks like a less stressful thing to do.

  • ITunes Helper Module has stopped working

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes and now iTunes and Quicktime wont open at all. When I click on iTunes or when I first turn the computer on, a window pops up that says the iTunes Helper module has stopped working. Then another window pops up right after that says "iTunes has stopped working". It checks for a solution to the problem and then says "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." When I try to open QuickTime, it says "Runtime error! Program:C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTime Player.exe This application has requested the RunTime to terminate it in an unusual way." I have Vista which seems to cause problems with the firewall and iTuens, so I turned off the firewall from my security software, switched on the windows firewall, and made sure the settings were right. I even tried doing a System restore to the previous version (same problems) and then tried reinstalling the new version (Still same problems). Anyone have any suggestions?!?!

    hey stess,
I have the exact problem you have. I tried deleting (went into program files and deleted the folders ) from my system and reinstalling it. It worked until i rebooted my system, I am still on xp. The restore doesnt help either. It cant be my ipod ( its quiet old!) as it isnt even connected to my system at start up. I think maybe a bug with the new version that will eventually have more and more users affected when they update. I f i find a solution I will post asap... good luck

  • Cant finish installing iTunes 10.6 to windows 7, keep getting error message 7, unable to download iTunes help. Ideas?

I started with the "cannot locate network file .msi" msg. I bought perfect uninstall to remove all traces of apple software from computer, it was able to remove the so called defective file. For 3 hours I tried to reload 10.6 and got a new error code 7, unable to install iTunes help, and I still can't get it or the old versions of iTunes back on my computer. I have since removed the software again and defragmented the drive with no success. Seems like a lot of people are having similar issues. I am very frustrated. I was so happy with apple products till now, so disappointed they would release such faulty software! Any ideas?

    Repair your Apple Application Support.
Restart Computer, go to Control Panel/Program and Features/highlight AAS and click REPAIR button.
