Itunes conversion feature REALLY SLOW

Hi. Today's my first time using the conversion feature in itunes. (Advanced tab: Create iPod or iPhone version). I'm trying to convert my mp4 file into one that's suitable for my iPod. The problem is that the version is REALLY SLOW. It's been converting for over 30 minutes but the progress bar on top only has about ONE MILLIMETER filled in! To the people who've used the itunes conversion feature before, can you please tell me if the conversion was this slow for you guys?
Thanks!

  • My itunes is running really slow and will not recognise any of the 2 iphones 1 "3g" and 1 "4" or my ipod touch ?

my itunes is running very very slow the rest of my pc is fine.
i tunes will not recognise either of my iphones "3gs,4, nor my ipod touch4".
i have uninstalled all apple software and re installed itunes .
i have checked my iphone at a retail store and it was found.
i have the latest version of ie "ie9" and itunes "10.2.2.12".
any ideas what to do ?

Hi Grant, Thanks for the response, much appreciated.
I agree that it should not really run slow however I would really like to upgrade to Lion anyway and thought that doing it via the SSD route would be  good way to do it as the SSD should help speed things up once I sort out the underlying issue at present. I also wanted to try and load lion but still have Snow Leopard available on the original drive for the time being till I knew that eveything was working well using Lion but I'm not sure if this is possible and how to do to this.
I have just clicked on 'Verify disk' on HD1 in the utility menu and there is a problem there. It is asking for me to start using another disk such as the mac installation disc but I am not sure where I have put this. Seeing as I have upgraded to SL would this now be the new installation disc and if so, do I just put the disc in the machine and restart?
    Thanks for your help

  • My iTunes downloads are really slow on both Windows and iPhone 5

I've been experiencing slow download speed on both Windows and my iPhone 5.
I've done a few things like reset my phone network settings, enabled iTunes through my Windows firewall, changed the DNS but none has actually worked out! I really need your help because I'm starting to get really ****** off with how Apple renders its services. On a side note, I've unlimited quota so the speed won't be throttled down. Thank you.

Unlimited quota does not mean unlimited speed.
What is the actual download speed from your ISP?  Test it using a site like http://www.speedtest.net

  • Itunes 7.6 really slow

Just installed the update for version 7.6 and now whenever i click on anything in itunes it locks it up for about a minute each time. it also locks up my internet browser. any suggestions. it used to work perfect on my pc.

I have had this problem on several Macs, iMac & Powerbooks, and although I still have no idea what the problem is, I have discovered that it stops, everything returns to normal if I prevent internet/network access from iTunes on the affected machines. Simply isolating iTunes with Little Snitch stops the slowness and hangs. It also prevents you using multiple speakers so it is not by any means an ideal solution. If I have a system running smoothly for an hour or two, then go into Little Snitch and change the block rule to allow, iTunes immediately increases its CPU % to over eighty percent, slows then becomes unresponsive in the activity monitor.
I have several users in our network who are swearing off Apple, the one thing they won't put up with is having their music interfered with. Apple has made a really big blunder with this release and then slow response to the problem. People will grudgingly accept software problems, but not loss of music.

  • ITunes is importing really slow!

I have the latest iTunes downloads and everything, but recently it has started importing my CDs at about 5.4x when it used to be around 14x. It also doesn't allow me to play other songs from my library while it is importing something, it makes the track skip. I tried disabling the Error Correction option, but it was already disabled and it is still slow. Any other suggestions?

  • Upgraded iTunes downloading now really slow. Why?

I recently upgraded iTunes and now when downloading it runs like a dog. Hours to download one track!
We are on a high speed sat internet connection.

What security software are you running?
That upgrade was actually an uninstall of the previous iTunes & QuickTime, and a fresh install of the newer iTunes+QT.
So your security software (like Norton) might be scanning its folders and making it slow, becasue it has new rules for what it thinks is the "new" progam.

  • ITunes takes ages to load, then is really slow.

So I've been trying to use iTunes the past day and it's been taking ages to load and then is really slow when its opened. I used the most recent version of iTunes 11. Uninstalled, Reinstalled. Deleted preferenced, Reinstalled. Using iTunes 10 (which worked very well in the past). Finally I gave up and factory reset my PC. And STILL the symptoms are here. My question to the community is if anyone else is experiencing this.
    PC Specs:
    i5 650 3.2GHz
    12GB RAM
    1TB HDD
    nVidia GeForce GTX460 SE
So it's nothing to do with my hardware's capability.

    Small update...
WHen Itunes did eventually load... a few odd things happened.
    1. The icons on my toolbar flicked to white / blank and then came back
    2. Windows Update sprang into life and asked me to install 1 important update
    3. I got an error message
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
    5. I clicked Yes...
    6. It said it was checking my itunes library
    7. I got a message The Bonjour service has been disabled. Bonjour is required to share music with others. Please re-enable the service to use this feature
    8. This didn't seem to bad so clicked OK
    9. BUt then Itunes disappeared again. It is still running in processes but isn't open.
    Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My ipad is running really slow, and it will not let me connect to iTunes or App Store, but have another iPad in house which is working fine I,please help

Try a hard reset by pressing the Home button and Wake / Sleep button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen.
This does not lose any data on your iPad.

  • ITunes 7 really slow

    Hi I have this problem...
When I load my iTunes, some 4000 songs, my computer turns out really slow... The specs are good though: 2GB Ram, 3GHz Intel 630, fast s-ata hard drive... Right now my iTunes is synching with my iPod at a ratio of 20 songs an hour, strange because it's via USB2... What can I change to speed up things? Right now I'm starting to get disgusted with iTunes 7, I read somewhere that installing iTunes 6 can help, but I bought myself a new iPod Video and it needs the 7...
    Please help

    Me too!
I have about 5000 songs in the library at the moment and that is just 1/2 if my entire collection.
I'm running on Athlon 64 3600 with 2GB ram and iTumes is on a striped SATA drive so it is NOT my hardware. No other program behaves like it.
When iTunes gets really 'busy' the taskmanager shows the CPU usage to 100% flat! It happens often and especially near the end of a song, it lasts for 10-20 secs. Its very frustrating since I cannot have iTunes running in the background if I am playing a game for example and I am forced to which to winamp.
Here is another example. As I am writing this, I have open
firefox, vmware, iTunes, creative labs mixer and windows explorer. Usage is between 0 and 5%. As soon as I start clicking on items in the iTunes list, effectively just highlighting items, iTunes' cpu usage jumps to between 15% and 30% until I stop clicking!!!! WHY???
If it was not for the clean interface and the need to have it for my iPod, I'd ditch it immediately.
    Please Please fix it!!!!!

  • REALLY Slow Conversion 0.1x

    Hi,
My conversion of WMA files to MP3 is currently sitting on 0.1x which needless to say is a little slow. I have a 3.2ghz processor and 1gb of Ram so would expect it to be much faster. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing such increidly slow progress?
    cmk.

When I upgraded to ver. 7 of iTunes, I started having slow imports (.1X to .5X) from the CD drive. I changed some settings with the software to no avail, deleted drivers and reloaded, etc, and had no joy. I changed the screen from monitoring the CD to the view of the music library, and Lo, the speed picked up to normal (for me, 4X).
Whenever I return to the CD Device screen, the computer resources become taxed, and all activities slow down.
This did the trick for me!!!

  • Why has iTunes gone really slow

  • ITunes is really slow now.

I added about 1500 songs in the past week, and now iTunes is really slow. Whenever I do anything with iTunes I get the colorful wheel. Can I fix this?

is this with iTunes 11.0.3 (the newest update that just came out a week or two ago)?
If so, don't do anything. I think 11.0.3 is a little buggy - I've noticed the spinning beachball too, sometimes clicking things does nothing, and it crashes a lot. I'm expecting/assuming that Apple will have another update out within a few weeks to fix the bugs.
Quitting and restarting iTunes might help, but I wouldn't do anything more than that.
