ITunes cuts filenames of mp3s short?

Is there anyway to stop this?
I noticed if the title of the song is pretty long, iTunes cuts the filename short and doesn't have the whole title of the song.
(ie. lots of fall out boy songs)

If you have the 'keep' option enabled then iTunes will rename the file name on the HD to match what is displayed in the 'name' column in the main iTunes window. Even without this option enabled I have not info missing for the tune name
For example "(I Don't Want To Love You But) You Got Me Anyway" is what is listed in the iTunes window and is also displayed on my HD the same way.
In what way is iTunes cutting the name? You may have to adjust the column size to view the entire title.

  • Itunes cut off ends of songs names

My songs names are cutted by itunes, a tried to convert with the ID3 converter but nothing has changed...
Thank you for your help and sorry for my poor english.

Dude, I first noticed the problem on iTunes a while back. I've been growing my mp3 collection since 1999 and its about 80gigs now so you can imagine how ****** off I was when iTunes cut all the song titles that were long. I have songs that are now named like this: Michael Jackson & The Jackson Five -
Chris CA you are totally missing the point here. iTunes didn't warn Neesh and I that it was going to completely f*%k our song names up. The first time I installed and ran iTunes it also took my 60 gigs of music and sorted it into folders, most of which were named "Unknown Album". It also copied the music into the iTunes Music folder so that there it took up twice as much hard drive space.
Anyway Neesh, I tried Media Monkey but that was worse. Now I have a bunch of files that are .mediamonkey files. What the **** is that?
So far, the best mp3 player was the original WinAmp. Its since been messed up so we're all stuck with iTunes. I wouldn't be surprised if one day it deletes all my mp3's that weren't purchased from the itunes store. So now I am backing up all my music.

  • A lot of songs on my Iphone are cutting off several minutes short, and some are just skipping to the next song in the middle of the current song. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ and then click contact iTunes Store Support. Then find your issue in the categories and then it will most likely take you to a page with suggested things to do but also on this page should be an option to e-mail them. Just explain your problem and also have the names of the songs that you are having problems with listed in the e-mail so they can help you more quickly. They usually get back to you within 24 hours.

  • When  i play a song from my itunes library, there is a short "buzzing" sound about every 20-30 seconds. I had the problem before and thought it was fixed after verifying that itunes was my default player. Any ideas to fix the problem now??

I am having the same problem I have over 11.5 GB of .tmp files, many 1000s. Here is a thread I have found with some more info:

That thread is almost a year old so I'm not holding out hope for a fix from apple. I'm going to try deleting them and see how it goes...

  • How can I get Itunes songs to my mp3 player (Sony Sonic Stage)?

I've browsed through the forums and it seems a lot of people want to export Sonic Stage files to Itunes!
I want the opposite. I just bought 100 songs from Itunes and can't get the m4a format changed in the Itunes advanced setting and I can't import the songs into my mp3 player (Sony Sonic Stage) because the files don't appear as part of my folder when searching (even though I'm looking for "all files").
I tried the Windows explorer to drag and drop from the Itunes folder to my mp3 player (it is flash based but loaded through the software SonicStage)and it didn't work.
I REALLY don't want to burn all of the new tracks to a CD to try to transfer them all back onto my mp3 player. Am I missing something really simple or is this a compatability flaw? I won't buy any more songs if it's the case but your assistance is GREATLY appreciated

  • What is the last itunes version to keep Mp3 format

I am using Itunes in Panther with an old Tangerine G3 laptop. I need to use songs in Mp3 format to import into slideshows. I was running Itunes 7.7, but found my music trapped in Mp4 and most music could not be converted to Mp3. I downgraded to itunes 4 to keep Mp3 format. Now I can't connect to the itunes store. What is the latest version of itunes that can connect to the store and still keep Mp3 format?
I asked on the Panther board. They sent me here.

The version of iTunes you have has nothing to do with the format of songs from the iTunes Music Store. None of the songs from the iTunes Store are in MP3 format, the store has only ever sold songs in AAC (MP4) format. The standard 128 kbps songs from the store are protected ACC and cannot be converted, all you can do with standard songs is burn them to audio CD which you can use like any other CD you have. If you need songs that can be converted then you need to be sure and purchase iTunes Plus songs (they have a little plus sign beside the price). If you want any songs you import from CD etc, to be in MP3 format then adjust your import settings accordingly. In iTunes 7 go to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>Importing and choose MP3 as the format you require. When you want to convert a song the conversion command in the Advanced menu on the Finder bar and be labelled "Convert Selection to MP3". You can also purchase songs from other stores such as Amazon who sell unprotected MP3s which can be played in iTunes and used in other programs..

  • Why won't Apple fix this problem of iTunes Cutting off songs?

I've owned seven different ipods and three iPhones. On EVERY ONE OF THEM iTunes cuts off many songs after two or three seconds of playing. We're talking here about songs either uploaded from commercially purchased DVDs or the iTunes store. I have no bootleg music, I don't customize anything related to iTunes. I just buy music and download it into iTunes from MacBook Pro laptops that are similarly as standard as one can get. Yet when I listen to the albums of songs I've just purchased, random songs play for two seconds and then change to another song. When I've researched this issue across the Web I've found detailed complaints going back as early as 2004 and I can't believe that EVERY Apple iTunes system and device I've purchased over many years has behaved in this exact manner. What are these "Apple Support Communities" FOR is Apple fails to either correct the problems they report or, worse, even acknowledge problems that are documented by thousands of users of a wide variety of iTunes related products? I don't want to have to use a work-around or a reload or some of the other Rube Goldberg-like solutions others have suggested in these and other forums. I'm spending thousands of dollars on Apple equipment and software and I simply want the Apple iTunes devices and music that I buy to WORK AS ADVERTISED, which they don't. I just want my music to play as it is supposed to play. Why can't Apple make that happen?

That's happing to me, any solution ?

  • ITunes has stopped adding mp3 files.

iTunes has stopped adding mp3 files manually via the add file option, this has happened in the last week, it is music I have bought not illegally downloaded. I have the latest software installed, please help, thanks.

Had the exact same problem and turning off match indeed did fix it.
Glad Apple has Match working even better than before...

  • My itunes playback and transfered mp3 files are corrupted and sound garbled...***? All software is updated.

Recently my itunes player and sync mp3's play sped up and garbled. All software is updated
and all obvious logical attempts to fix it have failed. My  files play fine on Media Player, and
burn fine using Nero. Problem's gotta be in itunes.
    Any ideas?

I've uploaded a new version of my DeDuper script which should be able to detect when the same file is on two different paths and act appropriately. The script preserves ratings, play counts and playlist membership and can recycle real duplicates while keeping hold of an original copy each duplicated track. See this thread for background, this post for detailed usage instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
Test with the duplicated tracks of a single album first just to get a feel for it. It can take some time to run as it makes 5 passes over the selection, so you'll need to be patient if you are not able to use it with the progress bar active. If it detects the possibility (as it will in your case) that two seemingly different paths point to the same file it will prompt you to confirm the correct path to the media folder. This should be the C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media one, please correct it if it detected the wrong folder before proceeding.

  • ITunes playlist - Muvo NX (mp3 on

I use iTunes to organize my mp3 files. What's the easiest way to copy all the songs in an iTunes playlist to my Muvo?
Right now, I have to manually go find each file and copy it, which takes forever. Has anybody made a utility that will do that automatically?
Better yet, since I use my Muvo for the gym, I'd like it to do what the iPod Shuffle does: just fill itself up with a random selection of tracks from my "workout" playlist. (The playlist is too big to fit in 256MB.) Any ideas?

    Answered my own question:
In iTunes (4.6, Windows) open the playlist. Then just drag & drop the songs you want to the Muvo. Not quite automatic, but sure beats finding each file one at a time.
