ITunes doesn't show any of my music!! HELP!

I opened my iTunes today and all my music was GONE. I looked in the iTunes folder, and all the files were there but under the iTunes Music Library xml file, all the data was gone. HELP!

Hi.
You can re-import the music by dragging the folder to iTunes, but if the library file is missing, then you play count and history may be lost.
You could try using Spotlight to search for the file, but files don't move themselves so it is unlikely to be in another location.
My recommendation is to re-import the music to iTunes as this will create a replacement.
Let me know if i can be of any assistance
Vic

I have just changed internet providers from BT to Virgin, and now my iTunes doesn't show any of my airport express devices.  I assume that I have to reconfigure them to the the new wireless but how do I do this frmo my PC?  Thanks

I would recommend that you start by performing a "factory default" reset on each of your AirPort Express base stations. Once completed, you can use the following Apple Support article to configure each base station for streaming.

  • ITunes does not show any of the music we have in f:\iTunes library.

Our PC running Vista froze up so we upgraded to Windows 7. iTunes does not show any of the music we have in f:\iTunes library. How do I access my music?

Use the command File > Add Folder to Library, and point it to the folder(s) where the music is.

  • Itunes doesn't show all of the music on my ipod when I plug it in??

This all happened since I downloaded itunes 10.5 and ios 5:
itunes only shows some of the music on my ipod when I plug it in, (and click music on the left underneath 'Ellie's iPod' like normal), I've tried everything I can think of, and it's still only showing some songs, (always the same ones). also, if I edit an album cover or something in itunes, the change doesn't come up on my ipod either, so I can't edit songs in any way; it's driving me insane! I tried making a playlist on my ipod of all the songs that don't appear when I plug it in, and when it came up on itunes only one song was in it, and it wasn't even a song i'd put in the playlist.. (to make the playlist come up I synced my apps - when I checked the playlist on my ipod afterwards, this one song was there too).
My itunes library doesn't have the same songs as on my ipod, so I can't just sync that to my ipod as I'll lose a load of songs, (and gain some ones that I don't want), I don't know what to do; I tried repairing itunes, and i've tried all the basic things like restarting my computer etc. I haven't tried unistalling and reinstalling yet, but I'm a bit hesitant to do that.
If I go to the itunes store, the songs that I've purchased and that are appearing in itunes are greyed out like they should be, but the songs i've purchased that are on my ipod but aren't appearing in itunes are not greyed out, as if i haven't bought them, (yet they do show up in 'purchased' in the itunes store on my ipod..).
It's all very confusing and hard to explain, but long story short, not all the songs on my ipod are appearing in itunes when I plug my ipod in, and I can't edit the ones that do.

Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to the new one.

  • My iTunes  doesn't show any of the dropdown menus at the top, ex. file, help... help!

All that has been cut out is my music from below.  I don't see any of the menus and my Ipod is not being detected by itunes, or at least it doesn't show that it is detecting it!

Cntrl + B will display the Menu.
Cntrl + S will display the Sidebar.

  • After reinstallation and upgrade to 10.5.6, itunes doesn't show any music

    Hi all
I did a clean install of my boot drive to 10.5.2.
Then I updated with the combo updated to 10.5.6.
I also updated iTunes to 8.0.2.
The problem is that iTunes does not find my music library, which lives on a separate hard drive that I did not touch when reinstalling. No music is displayed in iTunes.
In Prefs-Advanced-iTunes Music Folder Location, I've tried both the "iTunes Music" folder (which has all the subfolders of albums etc) and the folder above that, which also contains the Album artwork folder, some itdb files etc. But nothing shows up.
    Any thoughts?
    /p

Try opening iTunes while holding down the option key. When you get a dialog box with "create a new library" or "choose a library", select the choose option and navigate to the library on your external HD.
BTW: If your external HD is not powered on and mounted before opening itunes, iTunes will create a new blank library.

  • ITunes doesn't show any artists...

Well it does... but I can only seem to see the artists/albums that iTunes is "featuring" or are "new" ...
How do I gain acess to the rest of the library??I KNOW for a FACT that iTunes has Juno Reactor in their library, available for purchase... so how do I find them without having to do a search?

Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for. They should put some kinda warining on this stuff when they move things to stupid locations, and elimiate some parts... like iPod Updater is now IN iTunes... well THANKS APPLE for putting up a note that tells me that! I had no idea, went around looking for the updated for an hour before I realized it no longer existed.
Well thank you for bringing back the whole reason I liked iTunes to begin with. The new "intro" force-feed you junk you don't want/need page is really annoying. APPLE PLEASE GO BACK TO A SIMPLE, IMMEDIATE browsing system...
Or is there a way to default to this Browse setting all the time so I don't have to see all the commercial junk??

  • ITunes doesn't show even though open, then freezes all applications

To continue the title of the thread "iTunes doesn't show even though open, then freezes all applications and warns me of a failed raid 1 array on shutdown, even though it works fine"
Hi, I have this problem where I press the iTunes shortcut and nothing happens. I look a the processes and itunes.exe is running using its normal 34mb of ram (or something like that). After I've done this, if I try to load firefox or IE, they also freeze and won't load.
Then when I goto restart it warns me of iaamonitor notify app. After googling, I leanrt this is something to do with failing raid 1 arrays, but everything is fine.
I am now in vista on the same pc using dual boot, where iTunes is running fine, but since this problem has started I have tried deleteing the itunes stuff from application data in the documents and settings, deleting the my music folder, turning off all services and startup that isnt microsoft in msconfig and uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and quicktime. Nothing has worked.
Can anybody help me? I've read so many pages from google that this seems to of happened to a fair few people in the past and I don't want to have to resort to formatting my PC. Any help would be very appreciated.

Thank you! You guys are the best! It would have taken me awhile to figure that one out! These Support Discussions have helped me out over and over.

  • On second computer, ITunes doesn't show songs on IPhone

Having dowloaded ITunes on new Vista pc, when hooking up IPhone, ITunes recognizes my acct and the memory taken up by music but doesn't show any of the several hundred songs on IPhone
    HELP!

Before reformatting your computer's hard drive or reinstalling Windows - this is important because you will probably be reinstalling Windows again in the not too distant future, you can back up your entire iTunes library - it is in a single iTunes named folder. This will include playlists, playcount, etc.
Have you reauthorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes?
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content from an iPod or iPhone that was purchased from the iTunes store, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only. After you have reauthorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes, with your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If any 3rd party apps do not transfer to your iTunes library, you can re-download purchased apps and you won't be charged again as long as you use the same iTunes account that was used to purchase the app originally.
An iPod supports disk mode, so the iPhone not supporting disk mode has nothing to do with DRM. Security and "whatnot" is important. As a Windows user with constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns, you should welcome a company that takes security seriously and does something about it. I guess after suffering with Windows for so long getting used to constant security concerns and "whatnot", I guess Apple shouldn't be so concerned about security making Windows users feel more at home giving you the ability to use the device any way you want and the same for hackers and script kiddies? Sorry, but you can stick with Windows and Windows Mobile for that.

  • My iPod is not showing any of my music in its library.

My iPod is not showing any of my music in its library. I can only listen to and see my music when the iPod is plugged into the computer. Even when its plugged in my Ipod says there is no music in the library but iTunes says its all on there. Any suggestions on what the problem may be?

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try unsyncing all the music and resyncing.
