ITUNES FOR WINDOWS.........WHEN?

I know Apple is aware of the problems with Itunes and Windows, and probably, by now, knows the source of the problem. (After installation, Itunes returns an error, and refuses to start.)
How much longer is Ipod hardware going to be non-functional, and valueless, before Apple fixes Itunes, which is the ONLY way to use an Ipod?
Please pay some attention to your customers, or, have I made a mistake by buying an Apple product?

As far as peeved, yes. I own a $250 piece of hardware, hobbled by klunky, proprietary software. I swore when I was through with Sony and ATRAC I wouldn't go down that road again. I had heard such good stories about Ipod that I thought I would give it a try.

Actually, you are correct. Now that I think back, it was more "iTunes won't work till Apple fixes it".
I found the post you made with the actual problem,
did you get any version of itunes to work? Did you
clean up the temp folders before launching the
installer?
Let me fill you in a little. I have a fairly new Dell Inspiron laptop, with a clean install of Windows XP SP2. There has been no previous problems with the OS, nor any installed software. the OS is always kept with the lastest updates, and any software installations are of the latest version.
iTunes was not previously installed. Quicktime was version 7.15. After the first failure, I meticulously cleaned the computer of all traces of Apple software, including references in Documents and Settings and installed folders. I went as far as to manually clean the Registry of all mention of iTunes, Quicktime, Apple, etc. All temp and junk files were cleaned by System Mechanic. A complete scan of the hard drive was made, looking for software and hardware faults. System Mechanic was used to scan and repair any problems in the Registry. The hard drive was defragged. TrendMicro Security Suite 2007 was used to completely scan the hard drive for virus and malware.
After doing all this, I went to the iTunes web page, and downloaded the latest. Guess what? Same error. I have tried this, also, using the solo Quicktime installer. I have been doing this, and variations of this, everyday, for the past two weeks, looking for something I might have missed.
Through all of this, the SAME ERROR repeats, everytime.
I hope I have presented a clear picture.

    EULA! EULA! EULA!   Greetings! I had the same problem on my PC for over a year!  Itunes would download, appear to install correctly.. and then I'd get error messages about files not being found.. uninstall and start over to have the same thing happen again and again...  I finally decided that I would track down the problem and I did!!  Its very simple....
    After install, a window pops up saying Itunes installed correctly. Theres a checkbox to RUN IT NOW that is checked by default.. THIS IS THE PROBLEM  It tries to force itunes to run before you accept the EULA.. Uncheck the RUN NOW box and click done or ok.. and immediately, the EULA pops up.. Accept it and then run itunes from the desktop shortcut and it should work perfectly!

    I need to reinstall iTunes on my laptop (Windows Vista).  I am normally resident in UK but am now in New Zealand and am wondering it this matters?  I am having the same problem that seems to be affecting other users with MobileMeServices etc.

    Thank you but I have tried that and my computer will not allow me to remove Mobilemeservices.  Instead it tries to install the programme.
    Could you walk us through what happens with that in a little more detail, please?

  • ITunes for Windows freezes when importing a library. I have a large but not huge library of mostly iTunes purchased music on two authorized computers and would like to sync the files, export the library as a playlist, and import it on the other computer.

    I am running iTunes for Windows 10.2.2 on Windows 7 Home. I have my iTunes library on both this computer and another authorized machine running Windows 7 Professional. I have a large but not enormous library, as I'm one of those people who doesn't pirate, use torrents, borrow from a dozen friends, or whatever other shades of gray you might imagine. It's mostly iTunes purchases with my old CD collection imported. I have started using the following technique to sync my libraries between my two authorized computers, an ability which you can probably all agree should one day be added to iTunes -- that would be different from Home Sharing, because the music would be stored locally and thus available on the road. With the added benefit of the entire library being backed up on the other machine in real-time. Anyway, when I switch from my desktop to laptop and vice versa, I use the following technique:
    Connect both machines to the home network. One machine is the "Active" machine, which has most recently been used for iTunes media, purchases, ratings, etc.
    On the "Active" machine, File-->Library-->Export. Save the file as "Library.xml" on the shared drive of the other machine.
    Right-click "Library.xml" where it's been saved, and open another file that has two lines in it: The root path of the iTunes library on one machine and the root path of the iTunes library on the other machine.
    Do a find/replace all in Notepad to make the library XML file point to where the files will be saved on the "Inactive" machine.
    Run Microsoft SyncToy to synchronize the files between both music libraries; the most recent files win. This avoids copying the entire multi-gigabyte library over the network.
    Open iTunes on the "Inactive" machine.
    Go to Music, Select All, Delete. Keep files.
    Do the same for Movies, Music Videos.
    Go down to Playlists, select the top one, hold down the delete button until they're all gone.
    File-->Library-->Import Playlist. Choose the "Library.xml" file you saved.
    First a status bar comes up that says, "Importing library." It has the continually-scrolling progress bar, not the one that starts on the left and steadily creeps right. Then after about 30 seconds, that clears out. Wait. Typically a few minutes. Eventually a status bar will pop up saying something like, "Evaluating gapless playback information," or something like that.
    The "Inactive" computer is now the "Active" computer. I can now play my library, it has all my playlists and metadata from the other machine.
    Delete all the duplicate playlists named "Music," "Genius," "Purchased," and "iTunes DJ."
    Well, I just upgraded to iTunes 10.2.2 a few days ago and tried to do this again like I've done it dozens of times before. Now, iTunes just goes unresponsive after the library import. It got through the "Importing library" bar to the long wait and stopped. I can still multiprocess and use other programs, but iTunes is hovering back there not responding to clicks. Task Manager doesn't seem to think iTunes is using my CPU, and I don't see my hard drive rattling. Any thoughts on why iTunes might hang up when importing a large library?
    ... Also, please help lobby Apple to come up with a network sync tool built into iTunes for a user with multiple authorized computers. Something different than Home Sharing so I can pull my laptop off the network and still have the synced library with me. And all my metadata changes will sync. The technique I use seems a little kludgey, don't you think?

    iTunes isn't an editor. You need an app that's intended for editing audio files, like Adobe Audition (http://www.adobe.com/products/audition.html) or Audacity (free in the App Store).

    When you upgraded, itunes should have put a copy of the itunes library database in a folder named *Previous iTunes Libraries* . If you upgraded itunes today it will show as
    iTunes Library 2010-02-28.itl

    Since I am not sure of your setup, look for the "Previous" folder on both your C: and F: drives.

    I am running the latest iTunes 10.7.0.21 for Windows 7.
    This error occurs if I try to either update the app or if I delete it and attempt to redownload.
    I have an iPhone and an iPad.  I am unable to update the apps or install the apps from within the App Store on iOS.
    I do not have an AOL ID, as is a common issue with this type of error.
    From what I can tell, my Apple ID account seems fine.  I logged in, changed some information, and ensured my credit card is valid and updated.
    I can download new apps just fine.  I am unable to update or install apps I have purchased in the past.

    After 30 minutes this morning, no resolution. Then another tech support call this afternoon, 15 minutes in, was escalated to a Tier 2 (Senior) advisor. He said something similar to the above ("this is one of the strangest things I've seen"). He was chatted with iTunes guys and took all my info into the case and was escalating it over to engineering. Said they would be in touch.
    So, no solution...yet.
    Just to clarify:
    iTunes on Windows7: trying to update an existing app, or re-download a prior app, gives the (11111) error. Downloading a new (free) app worked fine.
    App Store on iPhone5, iOS 6.0.1: click on UPDATE, switches to INSTALLING...for a second, then switches back to UPDATE. No error message (and nothing in Diagnostic data).
    App Store on iPad 3, iOS 6.0.1: same as iPhone 5.
    Definitely account related.
    I have cleared the store cache, signed out and back in, deleted the credit card data, and re-added, rebooting PC and iPhone...nothing works.
    Will post if I hear anything back from Apple.

  • ITunes for Windows 11.0.4: "iTunes has stopped working" error messages when playing videos, video podcasts, movies and TV shows

    Title says it all.
    I've had this issue on this machine for some time but not forever. Music playback is fine but anything video related freezes the program. When I launch the program in safe mode it works though. Clearly some add-on or file is causing it to foul up.

    Some customers using computers containing NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA (SATA) controllers may experience unexpected behavior when playing videos in iTunes on Windows from a SATA hard drive. iTunes may unexpectedly quit or become unresponsive or the computer may unexpectedly reboot or show a blue screen. Standard IDE hard disks are unaffected by this issue. If your computer contains a standard IDE hard disk, you can copy your video files to that disk and play those copies of the files in iTunes or QuickTime Player.

    So here is the situation. When I try to access our iTunes U site from the public link it works great, when I go thru the link that has me authenticicate it works on macs but on PC's I get the error message "iTunes for Windows: Error -9812 when accessing the iTunes Store" it's happening all thru our campus with PC users. Any ideas?????

    We're having similar connection issues, and the error log on our web server says something about a certificate error. I noted that last year on this date there were messages related to certificates. Is it possible they are updated every Dec 2, and we should count on some down time?
