ITunes freezes when I click on "Play Movie"

When I try to watch a video, iTunes freezes up immediately and iTunes will stop responding. I tried disabling Direct3D video acceleration in Quicktime, but it did not help. Any help is appreciated. Here are my specs just in case. i5-3570k, GTX 660 Ti, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I had the same problem. From what I can tell, no one has found a solution except for reverting to version 7.6. I am trying to get credit for my rental which I never got to watch.

ITunes freezes when I click on "burn" - CD diagnostics attached

iTunes freezes when I click on "burn" CD, or when I click on the "burning" tab in Edit, Properties, Advanced. I have to then use Task Manager to get out of iTunes then.
I ran a CD diagnostic and the results are below:

The last failed audio CD burn had error code -128(0xffffff80). It happened on drive on -128(0xffffff80) media at speed 0X.

My system has all of the updates and drivers. The problem stated when I upgraded iTunes.
Are you suggesting that because of that, I need to upgrade to Windows XP?
Many people are having the same problem as I, and they already have Windows XP....so I doubt that is the problem.
My question is:
Where can I find an older revision of iTunes? At least then we could use our burners until apple fixes this bug, and then upgrade.

ITunes freezes when I click burn disc

I've been a fan of iTunes since it came out, however, it's pretty worthless if I can't play my music in my car. I haven't been able to burn CDs for quite a while now. I can't pinpoint exactly when it stopped burning CDs but someone suggested that it was because of something in Windows Service Pack 2. I don't know. When I click burn disc, iTunes immediately freezes and I have to close it in the task manager. Also, if I go to edit preferences, and click on the burning tab, iTunes freezes, same situation. If anyone has any ideas how to remedy the problem, would you please let me know. I've already done two clean reinstalls to no avail.

drat. i was hoping that you had one of the Dell "two minute" hangs, which often seemed to be cleared up by heading to Dell to stock up on recent updates.
how about the rest of your CD diagnostics? have you followed up on any other recommendations made about checking your chipset or video driver or so forth?

Itunes freezes when I try to play a video..?

I have a windows 7 pc - when I try to play a tv show that I bought from itunes, and yes, it's already downloaded, itunes freezes. I've tried using itunes on different user acconts but no dice.

itunes will freeze even WITHOUT playing a song...
7.6 release of itunes was rushed so Jobs could look good at Mac Convention.
Apple didn't seem to care it was completely buggy and usless for a program. And to top the cake, if you called Apple to try and find out why iTunes was freezing and running slow, Apple blamed your computer. So 1000s of iTunes users have bad comnputers (even though they are all 100% above the minimum requirements for iTunes to run). sad Apple...how about take ownership??
there is only 1 good fix at the moment. uninstall 7.6 and reinstall 7.5 (see other threads to see how to do this flawlessly).

ITunes freezes when I click on Edit | Preferences

It only freezes if another user is logged onto the computer; if I log off the other user, it doesn't freeze when I select Edit | Preferences.
I have Prevent...from syncing automatically checked.
I have tried deleting preferences xml file.
Windows 7 64-bit
iTunes version 10.6.0.40

I am experiencing the exact same issue as doteddy. Additionally, I am not able to sync an iPod on any account other than the first account that is logged in.
For example:
Boot Win 7 64 bit;
Log into Account "A";
I can access iTunes Preferences and sync an iPod Touch without any issue;
Close iTunes in Account "A";
Switch User and Log into Account "B" (note Account "A" is still logged, but I have switch over to using Account "B";
I am unable to access Preferences in Account "B" and I am unable to sync an iPod on Account "B";
Log out of Account "B";
Log out of Account "A";
Log back into Account "B";
Now that I am only logged into Account "B" I can access Preferences and Sync the iPod Touch on Account "B";
I have spent five hours trying to resolve this issue, unsucessfully. I have tried many solutions suggested by others with similar problems, but to no avail. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and repaired iTunes several times. I have also tried creating new user accounts and using alternate accounts. The problem doesn't seem to be associated with specific user accounts; rather it is associated with being logged into more than one account simultaneously.
The problem is fully repeatable on my Win 7 64 bit system with iTunes 10.6.1.7 installed.
Note: the accounts that I am using (i.e. account "A" and account "B") have different security privileges. While I don't think this is material to the issue, I mention this just in case.

almost every time i try to play a song, itunes freezes. i restart my computer and it still happens. it says that the song is playing but the time marker stays at 0:00. i am running windows 7 itunes 10.2.2

I rented and downloaded a movie from iTunes and when i click to play it it shows me a message saying ''We could not complete your iTunes Store request, an unknown error has occurred (5103)'' What can I do ?

and in small letters they have added, "there was an error in the iTunes Store, please try again later".
This has been going on all day, please help !

This alert is related to iTunes Store movie rentals and authorization issues.
Make sure you are using the most recent version of iTunes and QuickTime. They both can be downloaded free of charge.
If your iTunes is up to date, remove the SC Info folder.

Itunes freezes when I try to access movies or tv shows

I recently got a new laptop with windows vista. I installed itunes and dowloaded itunes 7.5, then I transferred all of my music, and vidoe files onto my new notebook. I can play music, go to the online store and make purcahses without any issue, but When I try to access my movies or tv shows itunes stops responiding and I have to use task mananger to close it. Any advice would be great thanks.

Hmm...I've had a similar problem where only some of my TV Shows would sync. What I did to correct it was click on the TV Shows tab in iTunes and made sure that all shows where synced instead of just unwatched shows. That seemed to do the trick with my situation.

Hi everyone,
I've been using iTunes since Christmas and it has been working smoothly enough until today.
Today I've had my PC upgraded. I don't know much about computers but apparently there's twice as much space as there used to be and better graphics. I tried testing this by playing a tv show from on iTunes but it didn't work. Whether it's a music video or tv show, anything that requires 'watching' the screen goes black and flickers back and forth between the black screen and a frozen iTunes as if the video is about to play.
Can anyone let me know how to fix this? Has it something to do with the upgrade?

There are some tips below you may wish to try out. One of the things that will help you and the community out is checking your system specs and posting here. And if possible updating this info on your My Settings located to the right hand side of discussions. You can obtain these specs by right clicking on Computer or My Computer and selecting properties.

ITunes crashes when I try to play movies.

After updating to iTunes 10.7.0.21 on my Windows 7 PC it crashes everytime I try to play a movie.
Audio files work fine. I uninstalled all Apple Software (iTunes, QuickTime, Bonjour, Safari) rebooted and reinstalled. Same problem .
If I go to my media folders and play the movies direct with QuickTime it works fine. But in iTunes it crashes. (Starting the Movie -> Screen gos Black -> 2 Seconds waiting -> Windows problem manager shuts down iTunes).
Due to this problem I cant watch rent movies anymore

Itunes freezes when i try to play music

I just updated my iTunes, at first I had problems even opening the program. thankfully i worked with my security system to get it to open, but now everytime i try to play a song, it will freeze. I've tried everything that i know, please Help!

I have a song that shows in my itunes but when I click to play it, it says file is lost?

I recently went to click on a song in my itunes and an error message came up and said file not found. I have searched everywhere for the song and have had no luck. Is there any way to re-download the song from itunes?

This is not the problem. We are using quicktime on the pc's and the mac. I also tried to open the file on the pc with other programs and it doesn't recognize the file. The file opens fine on my mac but I cannot save it as a new file. It says that "the end of the file was reached." The recording was made in iShowU then edited in Quicktime Pro.

Okay so I bought a song called Harlem by New Politics today off ITunes but when I clicked to play the song it said 'This computer is not authorised to play "Harlem".' So, I authorise it and I still can't play it! And no, it won't play on my IPod.

It comes up with this thing after authorisation, 'This computer is already authorised. Including this one, you have authorised 2 computers out of your available 5.' This is ******* me off. I want to play the music I freaking payed for.
