ITunes freezes when loading new songs to iPod

I have a 60 gig video iPod. I am running the latest version of iTunes with a library of 21886 songs (73 days).
Recently, iTunes has been unable to load new songs to the iPod. It simply freezes while loading the new songs.
I tried deleting and reinstalling iTunes, but this didn't resolve the problem. (The uninstall was performed using the iTunes software, so it continued to recognize the previously existing music library upon reinstall).
Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on how to fix the problem?

I'd suggest you post your question on the iTunes for Windows forum. This forum is meant for getting Windows to run on a Mac.

  • ITunes 7 freezes when loading new albums (often)

have any of you encounter this problem as well??
some CD reads and upload fine, some others the importing rate goes to the minimum and then stuck in one track, freezing the app.
have tried the same cd on other computers and loads fine.
maybe is a iTunes, old OS issue?

I’ve been reading the forums today. This became necessary thanks to iTunes freezing up (locking up, crashing, halting, whatever you wish to term the (non-) process) since I formatted the hd and installed Leopard, iLife ’08, etc, and all the updates associated with the various progs. That was a week or more ago. iTunes (and other progs) haven't been "perfect" since. Quite apparently there are more than just a few of us having these issues.
I find the most humorous item to be that Apple/Mac has a ton of info on their main support page(s) pertaining to iTunes problems associated with Windows OS, but a limited amount of info pertaining to iTunes and Panther/Tiger/Leopard issues. And not a single one of those items addresses this specific issue, nor even acknowledgement of this issue.
Now, I’m hoping that this massive update that is headed our way in January will correct many of the issues we’re experiencing with not just a specific prog but what appears to be massive Leopard issues.
Let me just mention that after more than 20 years of using Win-based machines, and being a Assistant MIS, Network Tech, and IT Project Manager, I made the step to Apple/Mac at home. I was so impressed with the Mac Pro, one week later I purchased a second to replace my wife’s PC. Last week I was looking at either a Mini or iMac to replace the son’s PC. Right now, though, I believe I’ll wait. I know how MS would handle this situation. Let’s see how honest and apologetic Apple will be.

  • Why is my itunes freezing when i plug in my ipod

I have one of the newer ipod touches and when I tried to put the newest update on it, everything went wrong. The newest update is on it, however, everytime I plug it into my computer itunes freezes. Ive tried everything that apple has told me to do.

Try the following (these are separate suggestions):
    Restart the computer.
Reset the iPod using the two button combo.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
If those actions do not help, try putting the iPod into Disk Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363
then connecting to computer. If iTunes can now access the iPod without freezing, you should use Restore to erase the iPod and initialize the iPod's software. Then you can set it up and re-sync your songs.

  • Itunes freezes when I plug in my Ipod Touch - what should I do?

I know that this has been asked numerous times, but I haven't found a solution yet. The basics:
It was working fine yesterday, but when i plug in my ipod, itunes won't recognize it and it will freeze until I remove the ipod.
My 3rd gen ipod touch, when I try to access my music and videos (my photos are still there), just goes to a white screen.
After going to settings and about in my ipod, next to music and videos, it just says loading and won't do anything else.
I've reinstalled itunes and it has the latest update.
I've restarted my ipod many times.
I don't know what else to do. Everything else runs fine, the apps and internet connectivity is all great. Can someone please help me? This has been an absolutely terrible month and my ipod crashing is the icing on the cake from ****.

  • Itunes freezes when I connect my 80G Ipod Classic

This has been happening for a while now, and I couldn't figure it out so I just stopped using my Ipod. I can still listen to the music on there, but its getting old and I want to put new stuff on it. But thats when the problem occurs.
I plug in my Ipod using a standard cable to the USB ports. First I get a messagr from windows asking me if I want to scan and fix any errors with the Ipod. This nevver does anything, and it just sits there infinitely so I always hit no. At this point, Itunes is opening. It opens, I can see the main screen, but By now it is already frozen. When I click on it, I verify this. It turns white and doesn't do anything. EVER. FOREVER. (I have also downloaded another program as an alternative to Itunes to see if it will work, but it does the same thing. Freezes.) So I know its not Itunes. The ipod on the other hand shows what it normally shows. That it is connected and to eject before disconnecting etc....As soon as I unplug my ipod, everything unfreezes and I'm looking at my Itunes home.
I read somehwere that Podcasts might be causing this, and it said that I have to delete all Podcasts in order to fix this. I REALLY want to try this, but I can't possibly delete the god forsaken podcasts off without the use of Itunes.
Also, I really really don't want to restore the Ipod, Because theres a **** Ton of music on here that I put from my Old PC that I no longer have anymore. So if anyone knows a solution that doesn't involve doing that, that would be top priority. If I do need to do that, POST AWAY. I'm starting to get desperate anyway...
Thanks in advance, and hopefully someone else has resolved this issue. I am standing by to provide ANY more info that you need from me.
    IPod Classic 80GB
    Itunes Version 10.6.1.7
    Windows 7

I would suggest that when you are adding music to your iPod,
Connect to USB 2.0 port at the back of the PC and dont use any USB hub.
    Disconnect all other USB devices
Preferably disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus program
If you do a Disk Diagnostic on your iPod, there would be high numbers on the Realloc and Pending Sectors, which is causing the sync failures and Itunes freeze. The excellent post by tt2 will help you understand your problem.
    Have a nice day!

  • ITunes Freezes When I Start To Sync iPod

Every time I plug in my ipod, itunes opens up and my ipod starts to sync. After a few seconds itunes completely freezes up. My ipod changes to connected and i have to use task manager to close itunes. After i do this I try to "safley remove hardware" but it says my ipod is still being used. I go back to task manager but itunes isnt open. The only thing i can do now is just unplug my ipod. After my ipod gets to the home screen, it has all the music it had before the sync. I just want my new music on my ipod and i have no idea wats wrong!!! Please help me!!!!!!

I have the same issue and I too have Windows Vista (32 bit, how about you?). My itunes works on my laptop until I plug in my ipod. The second my laptop recognizes it, my itunes freezes. My ipod (mini) says that it's connected though. When I try to disconnect my ipod, it says that it's still being used but Itunes isn't open according to the task manager. The only way to "safely" unplug my ipod is to turn off my laptop and the ipod's screen no longer says "do not disconnect". I can't add or take off anything from my ipod now.

  • ITunes crashes when viewing purchased songs on iPod Touch 4g, ios 6.1.3

Hi.  I purchased some songs in iTunes, then purchased a new iPod Touch 4g.  On it, I opened the iTunes app to attempt to download my song I purchased.  I went to purchased > songs > all, and then it opened an almost empty screen.  It remained open for 30-60s, and then the app crashed.  I cannot use iTunes on a computer.  Can someone help, please?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sign out and sign back in.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I have tried both with no success, I was hoping that I wouldn't have to restore it, but it looks as though I might have to. Cheers Dazz.
