Itunes import only missing tracks

When I imported my CD library into iTunes, I had limited disk space, so I only imported tracks that I like. Now that I have a larger hard drive, I'd like to import the rest of those tracks. Is there any easy way to import only missing tracks, leaving the previously-imported tracks (and their ratings and play counts) alone? If I have to manually check each album to see which tracks are already existing, it'll be a huge undertaking.

Just reimport the entire CD. It'll ask if you want to replace the tracks already imported.
Click Yes.
This won't change anything (playcounts, ratings) or anything else.

  • Itunes imports only part of an MP3 file....

Hi, I have been transferring some of my Audiobook files from my iTunes library into my wife's iTunes account so I can listen to them on her iPod (I sat on mine) without having to sync her iPod to my library. These audiobook files were imported directly from a CD and work fine on my iTunes account, however, when I import them into her iTunes account, only 00:25 of the file is imported in some cases. Actually it varies from importing 00:15 to 00:42... (estimated) I checked the files themselves simply by listening to them in quick preview mode while browsing Finder, and the entire file is there. Some of the the audiobook disks use only a single track, meaning there are hours missing from the newly imported file. Ive tried different methods of importing the files as well, including dragging and dropping the entire file folder containing all audio tracks from a book into iTunes, dropping each file one at a time into iTunes, and using the "Add to Library command and key command within iTunes with the same result. Why is iTunes doing this, and what can I do to correct the mistake. I spent hours pouring over other posts in this forum expecting someone else to have posted regarding a similar problem, but unless I overlooked one, my problem seems to be unique. I hope that does not mean its unfixable! Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I take it im alone on this..? Bummer, I have no idea where to begin going about resolving the issue. It doesnt make much sense. Could it possibly be hardware related? I spilled water on my computer a few months back, but I turned the power off immediately, drained it, and let it dry for over a week before booting up again. Every thing seems to be working fine now, aside from the main part of the keyboard not being backlit anymore... But then, both iTunes music libraries are stored on external storage, so ligically, that would make sense either. idk

  • How to import only "missing" E-Mails from backup?

    Hello everyone!
I have a problem with mail. I set up a new MacMini (w/ Mavericks, i7, 2014) from a backup of an older MacMini (also Mavericks, i5, 2012). I used the migration client and it all looked just fine, when I first started working on the new system. First thing, which was odd: I had my project folder with LOTS of content lying on the desktop (some 14 GB, a few thousand files in multiple subfolders). I noticed, of those 14 GB 12 GB went missing. No problem - I just copied the files from my old system (which I still have and which still works).
However, after I've been working with the new system for a couple of weeks, I noticed the same thing that happened to my project folder apparently happened to my (local) E-Mail folders. Again, the folder structure is still there, but tons of (mostly older) e-mails are missing. Since I've been working with the new system for quite some time now, the above-mentioned "delete and replace" approach is out of question, because all new e-mails, which I filed in the local folders would be lost.
As I still have my old system as a backup, it is no problem for me to retrieve all old e-mails manually. But is there a way how I can import only those mails, I have lost during migration? Or in other words: How can I sync the new and the old mail folders while avoiding duplicates and keeping the folder structure as is?
Every comment is highly appreciated! Thanks in advance..!

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
              Envelope Index
              ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. ClickOK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Import only creates track names?  Also track file size is incorrect?

I bought a new external Sony DRX-830U and when it imports I only get the track name and related artwork. The file size is about 50K, which is the track name info. It reports that the track length is some rediculious length, like 789:xx:xx, etc.
It is plugged in via USB, as is my external drive, which is where my iTunes music folder resides.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, plus a variety of other things.
    Any ideas would be appreciated!
    Thanks...

  • Import Only First Track

I tried importing a CD as MP3 yesterday, and only the first track was actually imported -- the rest of the tracks appeared in the list of files created, but each was 2K in size, with no content.
When I went to another computer and did the same, it worked fine. Both machines are using Vista ... I am a bit surprised, and would like to know if there is any specific setting that might cause this, or if perhaps there is something that someone knows about that is an issue ... it would be frustrating to have to use the other machine when I will be using the MP3s on the other ...

Your notebook PC probably has different hardware & different drivers. You can mess around trying to fix it, or as Vixen suggested, just rip your CDs using WMP as MP3 files and add them to the itunes library.
If you want AAC or AIFF files, you'll have to figure out itunes & the drivers.

  • Itunes import only plays 1 song from album

I just imported an album to my ipod following a purchaese from itunes. When i moved the songs to my ipod only 1 song will play. If i select another song the ipod always takes me back to the song it only wants to play from this album. Btw the songs do play on my computer ... just not on the ipod. Also its the first time i've imported music from itunes. Any ideas? thx.

Are all of your songs checked? To the left of each song title there is a little box. There should be a check mark in each box for the songs to play continuously. (If you don't want a song to play, you uncheck it.) If your library became unchecked, you can easily recheck everything. Go up to the top line in iTunes, select Edit>Select All, then go to a song in iTunes, right click, and choose "Check Selection".

  • List View shows all tracks of CD, grid view is missing tracks

I imported all my CDs into my iTunes library over the holidays. Over 40 GB of music. Now, I discover a flakey problem. On a CD, if I view via list view, the library shows 13 tracks. When switching to grid view and double-clicking on album, it shows tracks 1,2,4,6,9,12
When I use windows explorer, the iTunes folder only shows tracks 1,2,4,6,9,12. Yet I can play all 13 tracks on PC and iPod. Where are the 'missing' tracks being stored and why don't they show in both views? This is happening on quite a lot of the CDs that were imported, but others are fine.

This is most likely due to the content of the ID3 tags in the imported files. If a track features more than one artist, iTunes uses the first artist in the list to sort and organise the files. So one or more files imported from a CD might be stored in another artist's folder. iTunes plays the full album because it knows where all the tracks are (by virtue of the iTunes library database).
To get around this problem, edit the information for all the tracks on an album so the the "Artist" tag has the main artist first in the list.

  • When importing tracks from a CD to iTunes, only 10 of the 13 songs are imported or shown on the list. How can I import the missing three?

When importing tracks from a CD to ITunes, only 10 of the 13 songs are imported. How can I display and import the missing three? Thanks.

It depends on eaxactly what is wrong with the old laptop. If you're lucky the drive can be extracted and connected to a new computer to extract the data. Otherwise see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • Missing tracks in iTunes album folder

This evening I downloaded a 28-track album from the iTunes store. All 28 tracks show up in iTunes and on my iPod. All 28 tracks play in iTunes and on my iPod.
I backed up the new album by copying the iTunes folder to my external hard drive.
But then.....when I checked the back-up, I was surprised to see that only 2 out of 28 tracks on the new album had been copied to my external drive. Twenty-six tracks appear to be missing.
So I went to the original iTunes folder, and found the 26 of the 28 tracks appear to be missing there as well.
I then did a hard drive search-by-name for some of the missing tracks, and nothing turned up. But they must be on the hard drive somewhere, right? Or I couldn't play them in iTunes.
    Baffled.

    Scratch this thread.
Rebooted the computer twice, and all missing files have magically reappeared in their folder.
    Go figure!

  • Trying to import cd, it only shows tracks, not song titles. when i try and get the titles it says im not registered for online use even though im signed in. how can i fix this?

Im trying to import songs from a cd, but it only shows track numbers, no title of songs.when it try to get the titles it gives error code saying im not registered for online use. i am signed into my account so i dont know how to fix this.

The "not recognized for on-line use" error is associated with the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to look up and retrieve metadata for CDs.  Some users have reported that this error occurs when trying to import from CD, subsequent to upgrading to version 12.  A number of slightly different solutions have been reported (though all of a similar nature).
Try walking through the following steps - before starting you may have to enable hidden files and folders to be viewed - in Windows 7 / Windows Explorer select Organize > Folder and search options, then on the View tab make sure that Show hidden files, folders and drives is selected.  Without this you won't see the AppData folder in C:\Users\username\.
    Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete the following files:
    CD Info.cidb
    com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
    If this doesn't work:
In iTunes, select Edit > Preferences and make a note (or take a screenshot) of your preferences settings in all relevant tabs
    Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete the following file:iTunesPrefs.xml
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If this second procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1.
    If this one didn't work:
    Exit iTunes
    Check the following folders:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Apple Computer\iTunes
Delete any copies of the following files:
    CD Info.cidb
    com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
    iTunesPrefs.xml
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
Again, if this procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1 of the second procedure.
If you're still not able to retrieve CD info:
    Exit iTunes
In Windows, select Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.  Find the entry for iTunes, right-click and select Repair.
When this process has finished, restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If none of these have worked (and almost everything I've seen suggests you should be OK by this point), you may have an issue with the installation and configuration of iTunes itself.  If you have got this far, see turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for advice on how to remove and replace of all components of iTunes.

Only one track is downloaded per album on itunes on my iphone 5. Every time I download a new track it deletes the previously downloaded track on that album. Why is this happening and how can I switch it off?

Most YouTube content requires the Flash plugin. Sometimes it's necessary to uninstall then reinstall that plugin.
Uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed plugin first.
Now launch Safari and try a video.
If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
You may also need to delete the cache associated with Safari .
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy/paste:   ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Click Go the move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a video.

  • Can I batch download missing tracks from iTunes Match?

For some reason thousands of my tracks have gone missing in iTunes. No idea what can have happened, unless it was a consequence of messing with TuneSpan...! The exclamation mark icon appears next to the missing tracks. I can play them and download them if I go through a series of clicks so I could download tham all one at a time (indeed I started to do so) but to complete this job is going to take hours and risk giving me repetitive strain injury. Is there a way to get iTunes to download all the missing ytracks from Match?

Thanks. This will save me one click per item, but I still have to click each one individually a couple of times (ie to make it 'play' in order to get rid of the and then press Escape to dismiss the dialog box that comes up about searching for other missing files. (If I select multiple items and control-click for the contextual amenu, Download does not appear – only when I have gone through all of the above to turn into the iCloud download icon.)

  • I've been importing all my old CDs into itunes but one of them which was unknown imported as single tracks. How can I combine these into one album

I've been importing all my old CDs into itunes but one of them which came up as unknown has imported as single tracks named track 1, track 2 etc. It wasn't an obscure CD (Paul Carrack - the journey so far) but not one that's available in the itunes store. I've manually changed the track names but they all appear as single tracks in the "Albums" section. Is there a way to put them all into an album to show up as an album with the other albums. Other "unknown" CDs I imported have imported with the correct track names but just don't have the album artwork so I don't understand why this one is behaving totally different?

If you select the tracks all together in iTunes/ Songs then go to File/Get info you will be asked "Are you sure you want to edit information for multiple items?" Go ahead and you can make them into an album, putting in the artist name, etc.

  • I just purchased a new iMac. My iTunes account is missing a ton of music and I cant figure out how to access it. When I try to load music from my ipod to match my imac it only asks if i'd like to sink my ipod with my account. How do I access my library?

Unless you subscribe to Match, you will have to transfer your non-iTunes stuff from your old computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
If you want to copy non-iTunes music off of your iPod (eg, if your old computer doesn't exist), you'll need to use a third party program.  I don't know of any free ones anymore, but if you google, you can find several in the $19 range.
