ITunes issues with iPhoto

I've created a slideshow with iPhoto and have added music from iTunes. Further on I have put in start and stop points in some of the tunes, but apparently it takes a long time for the settings to update. Any ideas?

  • ITunes sync with iPhoto Problem

    Hi everybody,
i'm experiencing a tedious issue with iTunes and the iPhoto syncronization with i-devices.
I'm running iTunes 10.4 , iPhoto 9.1.5 and i have an iPhone 4 and an iPad both running iOS 4.3.5.
When i sync my iPhone with iTunes i usually chose only 3 separated iPhoto events and no problems occurs in copying the photos on the device.
When i sync my iPad instead i get the following problem:
the same as with the iPhone i choose a limited number of iPhoto events to sync with the iPad but the photos count shown in the iTunes screen is a lot different then the real number of the photos in the iPhoto events. To be clear:
Event 1 contains 300 photos in iPhoto
In the syncing screen of iTunes for the iPad Event 1 contains only 3 photo.
As a result only 3 photo are transferred to the iPad.
I tried to repair and rebuild the iPhoto library (alt+cmd+start iphoto) selecting all the options except the rebuild database from backup option. Nothing changed.
I tried to reset iphoto syncing with the iPad doing as follow:
    connect iPad
    select "don'y sync photos"
choose "Erase all photo from the Device"
    disconnect
    Reboot both devices
    reconnect iPad
    choose sync again.
    Nothing changed again
At last i tried to erase the content of the "ipod photo cache" folder as suggested in other threads in this forums but when i reconnected the iPad and tried to resync nothing changed.
Beaside that i tried even to control and repair permissions on the entire HD with Disc Utility but again i had no differences with the problem.
Does anybody experienced the same problem? There is any known solution? Anything else i could try?
Thanks everybody in advance for any support given.
    Giuliano.

I am having a similar issue.  My iPhone 4, my wife's iPhone 3GS and my iPad 2 will start to sync with iTunes on my MacBook (running Lion) and when it begins to import photos from iPhoto, I get a (-50) error and the sync quits. Some events sync just fine but others trigger the error message.
I have deleted the iPod Photo Cache, reinstalled iTunes, reinstalled iPhoto, repaired and rebuilt my iPhoto library, restored my iPhone to factory settings, repaired permissions on my MacBook and anything else I could think of or found in previous postings.  Nothing has worked.
Please help!  This is incredibly frustrating and no one at Apple has been able to help.  Thank you!

  • Any suggestions on how to fix installation issues with iPhoto & iMovie on used Mac mini?

I bought a used, mid 2011, mac min.  The selller deauthorized all his applications and resotred it to factory settings for me.  When I received it, I added myself as an administrator and deleted the dummy user the seller had created after restoring the OS.  The first thing I wanted to do was install applications I already have on my iMac (also running OSX Lion).  It would not install iPhoto or iMovie.  It said these applications were assigned to a different apple id, the previous owner.  I decided to erase the hard drive and reinstall Lion myself.  I ran into some snags (due to my internet connection) and had to use recovery thumb drive, but it worked.
I successfully re-installed Lion on the newly formatted hard drive.
I still cannot install iPhoto and iMovie.  It just give me an error now.  Couriously, it installed Garage Band just fine.  I haven't had any other issues with other applications I purchased on my other iMac.
Anyone have any suggestions, besides purchasing iPhoto and iMovie on the mac mini?

Ethernet cord connected to the router solved it.  This is exactly what I had to do when I reinstalled the operating system.  For some reason my wireless internet is highly inreliable.  It drops out constantly.  I've always had my iMac hard wired to the router, but I'll have to figure out a fix for this Mac mini.  I can't have a 30ft ethernet cord running through the middle of my basement.  Thanks.

  • Major issues with iphoto 09' v 8.1.2

I am having a lot of dificulty with iphoto and one of my issues is that my photos are showing that they are very poor quality (65kb) but my camera is not even capapble of taking such poor quality. (Canon SX20is)
Is there any way to restore the original resolution or is that info. lost forever; and how do i stop it from doing this in the future???
    I would really appreciate help.
    Thank you,
    Brian

In your OP, it was unclear just what was going on, so I looked to see if it was possible to get files that small.  If you would have mentioned the library debacle, I wouldn't have bothered.
I think you are going to have to manually rebuild the library.
I would rename the library you have and start iPhoto to create a new one.
Copy the images from originals folder from the old library to another temporary folder somewhere  sort the trash by file type and drag all the jpegs to this temporary folder.  Sort by name, and discard the smaller of any duplicate filenames.
Then go to iPhoto and select file->import to library.
Once it is done, select the event that is created and use event->autosplit events.

  • Two issues with iPhoto '09

First of all, I'm running iPhoto 8.1.2, on a system running 10.6.8. The issue described below isn't something that occurred suddenly after an update, as far as I can remember.
There are two issues: first of all, iPhoto won't import my JPEGs that I processed with Lightroom. I did that so many times, and there was never an issue, but for some reason, now I get the message that the file is in an unreadable format. To find out whether the problem resides in iPhoto or in the files, I took a picture that I already had in my library, renamed and tried to import it again, to no avail. Also, I opened the new pictures in Preview, and there was no problem there.
Secondly, I can browse through my events, and see my thumbnails. However, when I then double-click on any picture, iPhoto just shows a black void -- even though it says '1 photo selected in 1 event'. This applies to all photos in the library.
I would really really appreciate feedback on this issue, as iPhoto is my main image displaying/sharing application.

Thanks for the tip. I tried it, but the problem persist in the other account. As I said before, I also tried to reinstall iPhoto, after using AppCleaner to uninstall first. Something else I could do is uninstall all iLife components, and then reinstall the whole suite. Is it enough just to clean up iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and Garage Band?
Another thing I (re-)tried is to use iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the library. To no avail, alas, but at least it provides a log with the error message, part of which I reproduce below. At the same time, iPhoto complains about the 'unreadable format' after every Event that ILM tries to rebuild.
    Here's the log message:

  • Wanting to go "back in time" due to issue with iphoto 8.03

Everything was great on Sat. before I downloaded iphoto 8.03. Instead of jumping through hoops to try to fix my issues, can't I simply go back using Time Machine to iphoto 8.02? I've made minor changes otherwise to my mac since Sat. that I can duplicate no prob.
Can I revert back to my machine the way it was Friday or the time of my last back up?
    Thanks!

tamara, actually, the following would be even better than trying to restore the application from a Time Machine backup. Reinstall, iPhoto 8.0 from your original iLife `09 DVD, then update the application to the update just prior to the one you began having issues with.
First, open the Applications folder and drag iPhoto to the Trash.
Now insert the iLife `09 DVD and launch the installer.
    Accept the license agreement.
When you get to "Installation Type" click the "Customize" button on the left.
If you removed iPhoto as described earlier then there should be a check mark beside iPhoto.
    Click "Install".
When the installation is complete go to the Apple Support website and download the iPhoto 8.0.2 Update (I believe it was 8.0.3 that you had trouble with?):
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/iPhoto8_0_2Update
    Install the update.
Now your iPhoto application is back to the version it was before the 8.0.3 update. However, your photo library was likely converted when you applied the 8.0.3 update. As a result iPhoto 8.0.2 will alert you that the photo library is not compatible with this version of iPhoto.
To fix this, hold down the Option & CMD keys and launch iPhoto.
A window will appear giving you various rebuilding options.
Place a check mark beside "Rebuild the iPhoto Library from automatic backup".
    Click "Rebuild".
This will convert the library back to a version compatible with 8.0.2.
Let us know if this resolved your issue. Cheers!

  • Itunes issues with Windows having to do with Apple's patent

I had a thought and am not sure if it's right. I was wondering if myissues with Apple Itunes store on Windows 7 has anything to do with the Patent laws and all with Apple and samsung and all that.

I had the same issues with Windows 8 Consumer Preview. I installed on a fresh system and still had issues.
I experienced extreme lag, with pretty much everything, and iTunes freezing once I attempted to change the currently playing song.
I had a mess with compatibility mode and found out that running it in with Compatibility mode enabled for Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and as an administrator fixed it. It works now, however, there is a popup message that comes up on launch telling you to change the compatibility settings, but pressing "OK" makes it go away.
    How?
Open Windows Explorer, and navigate to: "C:\Program Files\iTunes" (For 32bit) or "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes" (For 64bit), unless you changed it.
Right-click on "iTunes.exe", select "Properties" from the context menu, and click the "Compatibility" tab.
Under "Compatibility mode" check off "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" from the drop down menu.
Further down under "Privilege level" check off "Run this program as an administrator".
    Click "Apply" and "OK".
Should fix any issues, I have my default iTunes Media Folder Location within an external hard drive so unplugging all of my USB's wasn't an option.
    Hope I helped!

  • ICloud photostream issues with iPhoto 9

    MacbookPro 2013, running 10.9.1 with iPhoto 9.5.1
I have set up a new photostream with iCloud and it's fine on all my devices, but when I try to open the pics through iPhoto it takes me to my 'trash folder'.
I can see the folder and the thumbnails are all fine?
When I then try to play the slideshow, the images appear but are overlaid with the word 'trash'
    Very wierd.
    Any advice?

#1 is an indication that the library is damaged. Make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I'm having a weird issue with iPhoto.

My MacBook is running OS 10.6.8 with iPhoto version 9.2.3.
A few months ago the motherboard of my previous laptop, an iBook, died. I put the hard drive in an enclosure and used Firewire to link it to my present MacBook. Somewhere along the way the vast majority of my photos disappeared from iPhoto. I see dotted line squares against a grey background when I open the application. Clicking on those squares produces a black field. Once in a while, an actual photo opens. If I scroll quickly through the grey squares, I see photos, which quickly fade back to the dotted line squares. I can make out many photos that I thought I'd deleted long ago. It's like some kind of data link was broken.
Connecting to my backup hard drive has been no help and I've opened iPhoto while holding down Command/Option to rebuild it.
What the **** is going on?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • ITunes sync with iPhoto

    Hello,
iTunes doesn't recognize some of my albums created in iPhoto.  Therefore , I'm unable to sync them to my iPad.  Does anyone have this same issue and how did you fix it?
    Thanks

Thank you!

  • I am having a lot of issues with iPhoto. I recently upgraded my software to Snow Leopard from the original software on my Macbook Pro. I got the Mac in 2007. Everytime I try to open iPhoto is just shuts down! It also wont recongnize my iPhone. HELP!

My iPhoto will not stay running. It opens for a minute and then quits unexpectedly. I get an error message and it says a report will be sent to apple. My computer will not recognize my iPhone either. I cannot figure out how to fix this issue or if there is any way to fix it!

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
    If that fails:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
