Itunes issues with Windows having to do with Apple's patent

I had a thought and am not sure if it's right. I was wondering if myissues with Apple Itunes store on Windows 7 has anything to do with the Patent laws and all with Apple and samsung and all that.

I had the same issues with Windows 8 Consumer Preview. I installed on a fresh system and still had issues.
I experienced extreme lag, with pretty much everything, and iTunes freezing once I attempted to change the currently playing song.
I had a mess with compatibility mode and found out that running it in with Compatibility mode enabled for Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and as an administrator fixed it. It works now, however, there is a popup message that comes up on launch telling you to change the compatibility settings, but pressing "OK" makes it go away.
How?
Open Windows Explorer, and navigate to: "C:\Program Files\iTunes" (For 32bit) or "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes" (For 64bit), unless you changed it.
Right-click on "iTunes.exe", select "Properties" from the context menu, and click the "Compatibility" tab.
Under "Compatibility mode" check off "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" from the drop down menu.
Further down under "Privilege level" check off "Run this program as an administrator".
Click "Apply" and "OK".
Should fix any issues, I have my default iTunes Media Folder Location within an external hard drive so unplugging all of my USB's wasn't an option.
Hope I helped!

  • Can't print both sides (manually) with Windows 7 but can with XP

My OfficeJet 5510 has "Print Both Sides" as an option on the "Finishing" tab, when I use it from the desktop running XP, which it's connected to with USB. That option doesn't appear anywhere when I try to print from my laptop running Windows 7, over a wireless network. This issue seems to be mentioned in many posts, but never seems to be answered. Is 2-sided printing (manually reinserting the pages) an option with Windows 7, or just with XP?

Hi  - The difference is that with XP, you're using the HP print driver and with Win7, you're using the Microsoft driver, since it doesn't look like HP made a "Full-featured" driver for the OJ5510, since Win7 came out well after the OJ5510 released.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you'll be able to manually print on both sides of the page unless the software app you're printing from offers a feature.  If the app doesn't have an option specifically for manual duplexing, you might be able to specify printing only odd numbered pages, then re-loading those pages and printing the even numbered pages.  Not a great workaround, but at least an option.
    Hope that helps.

If your MacBook shipped with an install disc you'll have to use that. If it didn't you should be able to use Internet Recovery OS X: About OS X Recovery

    Hi,
It's pointless to use that ammount of ram under Win9x/Me as it will be slower then if you use only 256MB witch is the optimal ammount for these OS'ses.
So you better take 256 out or move to Win2000/XP....

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Intermittent problems
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
    Consistent Problems
A frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is the service being blocked on the network. Make sure your network isn't hidden, has a unique name, that MAC address authentication is disabled, security is set to use WPA 2 Personal and that there is only one router/device acting as a DHCP server and providing NAT services.
Make sure your router/computer allows access over the following ports
    Port
    Type
    Protocol
    Used By
    80
    TCP
    HTTP
    AirPlay
    443
    TCP
    HTTPS
    AirPlay

    RTSP
    AirPlay

    Bonjour
    5289
    TCP/UDP

    TCP/UDP

    Bonjour/AirPlay
    49159
    UDP
    MDNS (Win)
    Bonjour/AirPlay
    49163
    UDP
    MDNS (Win)
    Bonjour/AirPlay
Refer to your router manual/manufacturer for any settings that are specific to that model.
Another frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is security software, in many cases configuring it correctly, disabling it or even uninstalling it can help, but in some cases the security software can cause problems that simply reconfiguring, disabling or uninstalling cannot reverse.
If you are consistently unable to activate AirPlay, have tried all the steps in this article and have security software installed on your system, you might benefit from contacting its provider or participating in any online forums they run to discuss the matter with them.

  • Hi,  i installed an upgrade for itunes on my windows computer it came with a error message of msvcr80.dll

    Hi
I installed a upgrade of itunes on my windows computer
It came up with error message of msvcr80.dll     I went to repair and to reinstall itunes   but this didnt fix it
    Please help me

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:

  • Itunes issues on windows 8

I just bought a new computer with windows 8. I downloaded itunes and signed in. Initially my music played, then when I shut if off and went back, all of the songs were light gray in color and would not play. Then when I went back again, it's as if I don't have any songs at all. Help!

    Hi RLMChi,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with iTunes. If you are still having issues connecting to the iTunes Store from your Windows 8.1 computer (but not your tablet on the same connection), you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

  • Updated MacBook Pro with Windows 7, doing nothing on Apple

I have a MacBook Pro with Leopard 10.5.1, and I was running Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 on the Windows side.
I updated to Windows 7 , but did not do anything on the Apple side. Big mistake,
Windows 7 works fine BUT!!! I have no Mac OS.
In order to get the Mac working again, what do I need to do? Will I have to restart my Windows 7 upgrade, and use Bootcamp with the Leopard. Can I reload Leopard and BootCamp and then have both Leopard and Windows 7 working as properly.
If you could provide or direct me to someone who could, step by step instruction on this please do so.
My windows Data is still on Carbonite and I have no issues with having to lose my Apple side memory.
I have a external drive if needed I also have 37.3Gig free space
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I am not sure what the selections were. Maybe this will help. I ran the Windows 7 upgrade without any thought to BootCamp or the Leopard OS. Now Windows 7 is on the same partition that XP had been on.
I have no reason to thank that my Leopard OS is not fine but is now isolated from the Windows 7 or anywhere that I could find.
Maybe If I downloaded BootCamp it would make that connection again.
Thanks for your help, am I the only one to make this mistake??

  • Using SharePoint Open with File Exployer - works with Windows 7 but not with 8.1

I am using a SharePoint site. There is an option to open the site in File Explorer [Open in Explorer] that I can use with Windows 7 computers with no problems.  However, when I try to use in Windows 8.1, I receive an error message telling me to add
the SharePoint site to my trusted sites even though the site is already a trusted site. I can use this SharePoint command on multiple Windows 7 computers with no problems.  I set the Windows 7 computer next to the Windows 8.1 and used the same
I/E 11 with the same security settings.  Works for 7 and not for 8.1.

    Hi,
For your issue, try to do the following:
Click Start > Run->Enter "services.msc" ->Find the WebClient service and select Restart.
In Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Options > Security->Local intranet->make sure the AcitveX control is enabled.
Enable Basic authentication on the client computer, by setting the BasicAuthLevel registry entry of the following key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters

  • Attempting to use certreq -enroll to enroll to a client authentication certificate works with Windows 8, but not with Windows 7...

This has been an issue for a while now.  Trying to use certreq -enroll -machine [Template Name] on Windows 7 machines fails with not implemented.  When I run this command with the -q flag I see that the certificate I want is unavailable and displays:
A valid certification authority (CA) configured to issue certificates based on this template cannot be located, or the CA does not support this operation, or the CA is not trusted.
When I go into the properties of this certificate and goto the Certification Authority tab and check the "Show all enrollment servers" it shows my server greyed out with this message:
The system could not determine if you can access this certificate.  Not implemented.
The template sits on a enterprise 2003 server CA and this process works with Windows 8.1 machines.  Which means that the template has the correct permissions and is issued correctly.
Is this a known issue with Windows 7 or am I missing something in the config?  Help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi
I have done some tests on a Windows 7 Enterprise machine and a Windows 8.1 Enterprise machine, it turns out that I have the same issue with you.
On the Windows 7 machines, I cannot use Certreq.exe to request machine certificates, but I can successfully request user certificates, and there is no issue with the Windows 8.1 machine.
    Best Regards,
    Amy
Interesting.  From what I can tell, there are no patches that fix this issue either...

The workaround for this problem is to revert to IE9 or earlier, install your old PSE, then reinstall the latest IE version.
