ITunes Podcast Site Manager vs. iTunes U Public Site Manager

The link for help files for the iTunes Podcast Site Manager goes to "Using iTunes U Public Site Manager".  There are significant differences between these two iTunes administration sites.  I need help for iTunes Podcast Site Manager, not iTunes U Public Site Manager.
Specifically I need to set media types for our shows, and since a change to the iTunes Podcast Site Manager interface, I've not figured out how to do it.  The instructions (from "Using iTunes U Public Site Manager") say you do it on the Collections tab.  There is no "Collections" tab at the iTunes Podcast Site Manager.
Anyone know how I set media types in the iTunes Podcast Site Manager?
thanks - john

I'm afraid I don't know anything about this: it doesn't appear to be relevant to ordinary podcasts. Is this an iTunes-U matter? - perhaps that forum would help.

  • Theme manager in iTunes U Public Site Manager

I am trying to create a new theme in the "Theme Manager" in the iTunes U Public Site Manager, but when I select colors etc., none of them "stick". Doesn't matter if I am creating a new theme, or tweaking an existing theme... nothing works. Have tried using the color picker and have also tried copying and pasting color numbers... any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't work either

Can I register iTunes U Public Site Manager using US Virtual Office Address?
I am from Indonesia and really wants using iTunes U to distribute our course and materials to our student who using ipad/iphone.
We are an Education Organization that provides a free education material to k-12 in Indonesia.

Sorry but no. Your institution must be actually in one of the countries where iTunes U is available. You would need to enter into a service agreement with Apple and they would almost certainly reject your application once they learned that your institution is actually in Indonesia.

  • ITunes U Public Site Manager transition

    According to the FAQ:
"The first step is to migrate your existing public content into iTunes U Public Site Manager. Institutions who are already included in iTunes U in the iTunes Store currently have migration enabled for their sites. The next time you log in with your Primary Administrator's Apple ID you will see a pop-up window explaining migration and that walks you through the process step by step. If you have not added a Primary Administrator Apple ID to your site you can do so in the Edit Site Settings area of your site."
My problem with the answer above is that while I have a Primary Administrator's Apple ID established and have had for the past 3 years I was never prompted with a pop-up window explaining migration and that walks me through the process step by step. Our university Central Washington University is included in the iTunes Store. Please advise me as to how to migrate our public site before the deadline on April 12, 2011.
    Thanks,

    iTunes U Primary Admin

    Hello,
Our college just went through the migration so i am speaking from this experience which, hopefully, might help you.
    1. Make sure your Apple User ID is the same as in your iTunes U Admin site primary admin's ID.
    2. You need to enter your school's primary admin sign in URL in Safari. The URL for your institution should be something like this: https://deimos.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/SignIn/cwu.edu
    3. A new window will come up on top of iTunes requiring you to sign in using your Apple User ID and password. Enter them and click Sign In.
    4. Now you should see on the upper right hand of the screen in your iTunes admin site, a new button you never saw before. I do not remember the exact name but it is something like Migrating to Public Site Manager. And it is in red color. When you click that button, it will walk you through the process step by step.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes U Public Site Manager - institution type for UK?

I am in the process of enrolling a UK secondary school for an iTunes U Public Site Manager account. The enrollment is fairly simple until the last option - 'Institution Category', which has two options; Higher Education and K-12 School district. We are neither of these. Obviously I do not want the enrollment rejected.
Any advice would be most gratefully received.

  • ITunes U Public Site Manager and adding new content

Probably just me missing something, but I am in the iTunes U Public Site Manager looking to add content to an existing collection. Since the update, I can't seem to find the "add to collection" button that used to exist. Can anyone help? Thanks.

    Duncan,
I appreciate your willingness to help. The site can be found here:
    http://deimos.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Browse/education-maine.gov
I am the site administrator, and I want to add content to an existing collection. I have been adding content to existing collections since the site was created several years ago, but since the recent June 1 update to the Public Site Manager things have obviously changed and I cannot seem to find a way to add content. Maybe I am missing something obvious, but I can't seem to figure out how to do this.
As a work around, I created a new apple ID and added it as a "user" and then as a "contributor" to the collection I want to add content to. I then logged out and then in again as this new contributor, and I was able to add the content as before (the update). I was hoping that I would be able to log in as the administrator and upload content without having to use another login.

  • How to get iTunes U Public Site daily log reports

    Hallo,
we are running iTunes U Public Site only.
Does anybody know how to get daily report logs?
    Reagrds,
      Diego

    Find the  solution by myself.
There are two iTunes U sites with different credentials: one is the original  iTunes U Public  before first activation and another created automatically by the activation process. The last is the actual iTunes U Public site
managed by iTunes U Public Site Manger. The difference is the domain name of the site: if I  sign in using my domain name with "-dz" added at the the end, I can access the actual credentials (Site URL, Debug Suffix, Shared Secret, Administrator Credentials) that differs completely by the ones of the original iTunes site.
No where I found information about that, neither I've received any notification mail about the domain name change after the site activation process.
      Hope that can help.

  • ITunes U Public Site and Apple hosting

    Hello,
we would like to apply for an iTunes U Public Site only.
We would upload content to Apple servers instead using RSS on our local server; I'm not able find more information about that service that Apple provides, like how many files can be uploaded and the maximum total data size can be hosted by Apple servers.
    Any suggestion is welcome.
    Kind Regards,

To the best of my knowledge, Apple no longer will host content. You have to provide your own hosting.

  • Itunes u public - How to get daily report

    Hello,
does anybody have any suggestion about  how to get daily report for iTunes U public site ?
The only information I've found is in iTunes U Administration Guide for Private Site  with the following example
    http://deimos.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/API/GetDailyReportLogs/example.edu? StartDate=2007-09-12&EndDate=2007-09-13 &credentials=Administrator@urn:mace:itunesu.com:sites:example.edu &identity=%22Jane+Doe%22+%3Cjdoe%40example.edu%3E+%28jdoe%29+%5B42%5D &signature=38bda70d9aa6975ae8756754034feb6e3c794aca4b21665f6dc85d2ed42d4f6b
but I do not understand how I can apply that for a public site.
How to get "credentials" ? What baout identity and signature? What I've is just my iTunes U Site Manger  account name and pssword.
    Any help is very appreciated.

  • Time limit after requesting an iTunes U Public Feature Page?

I am interested in requesting an iTunes U Public Feature Page for my institution. However, I have no immediate plans to activate the Public Feature page, as it may take a while to fill with content. Is there a time limit involved in the set-up of the Public Feature page, similar to the 30 day activation period of the initial iTunes U installation? I have not been able to find this information in the iTunes Documentation. Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Brian,
I am not 100% percent sure of my answer, but I have a very strong suspicion that I'm in the ballpark. Always happy to be corrected by Duncan.
Basically, the only thing a public features page and your private site share is the store in which content is kept. Otherwise, they are two logically distinct sites and have to be managed that way. So it's reasonable to assume that the 30-day grace period that you have to edit the public features page without your admin credential (or equivalent) also applies.
Recall that Apple will not kill your public access page after 30 days. Rather, you will not be able to access it without a credential. If you already have your transfer CGI and access scripts working on your private site, my bet is that it won't take you long to get something going for the public access page. Otherwise, there's that nifty Woolamaloo thing.

  • Modifying Item Keywords on iTunes U Public

    Hello,
I've added  keywords ( at the feed xml item level)  to an existing collection item but when seraching using those new keywords I cannot find
    the specific items.
I've double ckecked the xml feed at item level and it looks like the following
    <itunes:keywords>NEW_KEYWORD_A, NEW_KEYWORD_B</itunes:keywords>
That item did not have any keyword before.
Our iTunes U Public is hosted on our server.
What can be the problem ?
Any help or suggestion are welcome.
