ITunes U Weekly Usage Reports

iTunes U usage reports did not go out today as scheduled. We have identified the issue and will send the reports as soon as they are available.
-Thanks

Duncan,
When do you plan on having the next release (ballpark)? We need to keep track of our Disk Usage and it has been stuck all semester.

  • Weekly Usage Reports Disk Usage stuck

For the last few months the disk usage column on our weekly iTunes U reports has been stuck at .81 GB. Has anyone found a solution to this or have a contact at Apple to report the problem?

  • Where can I get a description of the Usage Report sent weekly?

I'm a little confused by the weekly Usage Report, e.g. what's the difference between the "DownloadTrack" and "DownloadTracks" numbers? There's only one worksheet titled "Tracks" and the numbers don't add up accordingly.
    For example:
on my summary report for the week of March 11:
    DownloadTrack = 1
    DownloadTracks = 3
on the detailed Tracks worksheet, there are three tracks identified
and on my summary report for the week of March 4:
    DownloadTrack = 2
    DownloadTracks = 2
on the detailed Tracks worksheet, there are shown two different tracks downloaded with a total viewing of three
So if someone can either explain to me what each stat is showing, or where I can get some documentation I'd be grateful.

  • Usage reports and analytics

Hey everyone, just was curious to know what people were doing for analytics for their iTunesU site. Is anyone going above the weekly usage report, or doing anything unique that you might like to share? Thanks

I know the good folks at MacLearning (I'm a lesser light in that group), and in particular Jess Mitchell of Duke University, are looking to do some work in that area. I think we're in the the "thinking stage" just now.

  • Compiling iTunes U Usage Reports?

Has someone come up with a good way to compile the iTunes U Reports into something useful? I appreciate Apple's "iTunes U: Usage report" for knowing what tracks are getting hits, but putting the data together week by week is a pain. I was wondering if someone had figured out a better way? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I used good ol' fashion Perl to create a web app for distributing stats to our various internal players.
I cron job GetDailyReportLogs once a night to get the stats, then use Perl to parse the stats into meaningful data for year, month, series, episode, etc. Then, my favorite part, I use Perl's Data::Serializer to save all these data to files.
When a user loads the app, I just pull up the already processed data file and pass it to HTML::Template files. Because the data are already in the correct format for my various line charts, bar graphs and tables, the page loads very quickly and I'm not reprocessing the same data over and over, and I'm using AJAX to pull in the template for each chart individually.
So, using the iTunes U web services and Perl, I was able to pretty easily create a web app that lets users dig through their own usage stats. They can view top series, total downloads, most viewed episodes for the year, month, series, etc.
Perl might be old fashion, but I still love it.

    Hello,
I have the same problem. The two reports (dz and the regular) show 0 of the two weeks 7/24 and 7/31. Also the data of the week of 2011-07-17 is incorrect (compared to the one sent a couple of weeks ago.)

  • Where did the iTunes U Usage Reports Go?

I haven't received a usage report for our iTunes U analytics since 2/2/12. Before that, I steadily received them once a week. What's going on?

    Hi All,
Is there any way for me to know how many total subscribers we have in the on our Public Site? I see on the site disk usage reports the number of people who have subscribed that week, but I want the overall total.

    Hello,
Our college just went through the migration so i am speaking from this experience which, hopefully, might help you.
    1. Make sure your Apple User ID is the same as in your iTunes U Admin site primary admin's ID.
    2. You need to enter your school's primary admin sign in URL in Safari. The URL for your institution should be something like this: https://deimos.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/SignIn/cwu.edu
    3. A new window will come up on top of iTunes requiring you to sign in using your Apple User ID and password. Enter them and click Sign In.
    4. Now you should see on the upper right hand of the screen in your iTunes admin site, a new button you never saw before. I do not remember the exact name but it is something like Migrating to Public Site Manager. And it is in red color. When you click that button, it will walk you through the process step by step.
    Hope this helps.

  • Switch usage reports to reflect public site on iTunes U?

Our school started with a private iTunes U channel, then we converted it and went public (Thunderbird School of Global Management). All my usage reports are coming to me with 0 views. I think it is still giving me stats from the private site, which is no longer being utilized. How do I switch this over to see stats from the public site only?

I'm tootling my own horn here, but if you like, you can just use Woolamaloo to tell you what the aggregate sizes are for "anything" in iTunes U. Woolamaloo already knows how to parse that ginormous XML file. Be sure to grab the latest copy on the Woolamaloo website.
If you select something in the main window, a little field at the bottom of the window says how much storage it consumes. You can also find out storage sizes by selecting something in the main window, then opening an inspector for that "thing" (there's a site inspector, division inspector, section inspector, course inspector ... etc., etc.). Each inspector shows all the info the XML returns -- even values that aren't yet fully realized in the request XSD (XML is grabbed "maximally" by Woolamaloo using the web service).

  • Usage Report Shows Zero (0) Hits

    All:
When I view the Excel Usage report for my site collection as described here
here, it shows zero hits.  Same for my top-level site page.  I've gone into Central Admin and confirmed the Usage and Health Data Collection service is running
    as described
here and that it is properly configured.  Via PowerShell, I've also confirmed the EnableReceivers property is set to true as described
    here .
Still no luck.  Nothing but 0 hits reported.   Any other suggestions on how I can get this working?
    Thanks,
    Bill

User analytics take 24 to generate data so check after 24 hours.
    Also hope you have followed
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/32858/web-analytic-show-0-visitor-since-last-2-weeks
id you configure Usage Collection from the SharePoint Central Admin.
Central Administration > Monitoring > Configure usage and health data collection
Please ensure Enable usage data collection (is checked)
    Events to log:
    Content Import Usage
    Content Export Usage
Page Requests (This option must be checked)
    Feature Use
    Search Query Usage
    Site Inventory Usage
    Timer Jobs
    Rating Usage
After you enable Web Analytics , SharePoint automatically does not start making analytical data unless we specify data that needs to be captured and saved on the analytics service application database.
SharePoint will created a service application database typically named as "WSS_Logging" after you provision Usage Collection Service.
If this service is already present , then I would suggest to reconfigure usage and logging service once again. It should work.

  • Usage Report for 2007-04-08

We never received a usage report for the week of 2007-04-08. I checked our site preferences and the email address was not been changed. Did this report not get sent out or did we (odu.edu) just not receive it?

Sorry for the delay, but we have identified the issue with this week's report and have began sending them out to site admins this afternoon. Please check your inbox in an hour or so.

  • ITunes U Raw Data Report fail to show Chinese Character

As catpioned. The tsv file seems in wrong encoding. All chinese characters are displayed as question marks ---> "????" .
To Apple Support, please fix it as soon as possible.
To other iTunes U Site Administrator, did you encounter the same problem?

    Thanks for your feedback, Darudh.
Can't agree with you more. The original weekly summary report is good enough. We have already built up the datafeed automation base on that. All of a sudden Apple just stop delivering the old file and introduce this new format. We have to rebuild the whole thing again.
Appreciate if Apple can resume the weekly summary report delivery.

  • 2007-10-14 Usage report blank

I received the usage report for the last week and there is no data. Data from previous weeks is included. Any ideas?

I am grateful that it is getting worked on, but I am concerned by the Excel message "File error: data may have been lost". I would like to know that the data regarding user ID's that is on the report is not getting removed during the transmission, or in other words that our information regarding user ID's is safe.

  • Usage Reporting in SharePoint 2013

To get usage reporting of the sites in SharePoint 2013,do we need to enable search?
I am looking for basic reporting like no of hits and no of users monthly and weekly. can we get this with out search.
    Please help me.
    Thanks, Ram Ch

You need search and you can get daily and monthly overviews (see
http://www.collabshow.com/2013/05/23/sharepoint-2013-analytics-a-big-step-backward/) but truthfully, SharePoint 2013 analytics are not that useful. There are lots of SharePoint analytics and web analytics tools out there that can help you to create the
required reports and my advice is to investigate one that suits your needs best.
