ITunes & Windows Vista

As far as I can see, there's still no way to solve compatibility problems between iTunes and Windows Vista. I can't even install iTunes 7.1.1. ("no win32 application","no VBScript installed"), and so, my 30GBipod still waits to be fed again. Could it be that this is kind of a strategy of Apple, not to offer a compatible version to Vista or even to inform about what's going on and what's the reason of the big delay? If yes, then let me tell you: I won't and can't buy an ibook or other apple hardware, and if this is not getting better, I won't buy anything from apple anymore... like possibly thousands of other disappointed customers! So please, fix it and communicate! Thanks a lot!

Thats just ridiculous. Apple has been very adamant that iTunes is not compatible currently with Vista and that they are working with Microsoft to fix compatibility issues. If you think that there is a conspiracy than you are very wrong. Apple just added vista support to Boot camp. If they were not interested in Vista compatibility they would never had dome this.
You are simply expecting too much from a maker of a huge piece of software. I do know that Microsoft has also been releasing patches that improve iTunes compatibility.
You must be patient Apple is not going to abandon a large portion of its user base. That would be suicidal.
Don;t forget that there is still alot of programs that aren't completely compatible with Vista yet.

  • IPod not recognized by iTunes, Windows Vista prompts to format iPod drive

    Hello,
I have IPod 80GB which I rarely use. Yesterday  when I wanted to use it, I went to add a few new audios to it, connected to my computer and launched iTunes. I added the folder which contained audios to iPod, synced it and wanted to disconnect, but iTunes took excepionally long to finish.
When I clicked on 'eject' icon, I go a message saying 'some files are being accessed' or something like that. I waited for 5-10 minutes but it won't finish up, so I unplugged my iPod as I had to leave.
Later when I wanted to play, I noticed I had no audios in iPod at all.
Later when I got home, connected it again to computer, launched iTunes, but iTunes won't show iPod. A few minutes later, windows (Vista) prompted a message saying that it needs to format N: drive (which was iPod).
I tried diagnostics on tis site, restarted/reset iPod etc, but it didn't solve the problem. I removed and reinstalled iTunes as per instructions, still no use.
Then I called Apple support Canada and the guy on the phone said I need to pay to get support. He said he'd send me some documents via email which would solve the problem and hen I wouldn't have to pay. I gave him my email address, but so far I have recieved no emails from him. I have checked my spam and junk folders, just in case, but nothing there.
Anyhow, this issue came up all of a sudden, there has been no physical damage to iPod, I barely use it. maybe for few minutes here and there a month. I have had numerous problems in the past every time a new iTunes update come, it always creates problems. Last year I spent many hours after iTunes update make iPod unrecognizable so I had to go back to older version, then upgrade etc. I don't remember how I solved the issue, but it took a while and it turned out to be something of iTunes version issue.
I wonder if this is another of such issue. I hope its not a hardware issue with iPod. I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks

I just got Vista too and it does recognize my ipod, but itunes can't find a lot of my songs on the computer. I tried to uninstall itunes and reinstall it thinking that it would seach for new music when I installed it again but nothing new happened when I did that.

  • ITunes Windows Vista - Error 7 - Windows error 998, DEP

Trying to install iTunes on windows vista laptop, iTunes installs but when i try to open it i recieve:
    Error 7
    Windows error 998
    Data Execution Prevention
Have tried all solution given on apple solution website. Desperate for some help if any has some.
    Thanks

    (Apologies for barging in, wha.)
In this context (launching itunes), DEP errors can indicate that some other program (other than QuickTime itself) has sprayed old versions of QuickTime componentry into unorthodox locations on the PC.
Although the error 7 is most commonly associated with Apple Application Support or .NET framework problems, it can also be associated with QuickTime trouble ... so that's consistent with the old, misplaced QuickTime componentry troubles as well.
So I think we'd better check on that possibility.
You'll need to check some view settings on the PC first.
    1. From the Start menu, click Open.
    2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
    Now go "Start > Computer".
In Computer, open "Local Disk C:" or whichever drive your operating system is installed on.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
*If you have a 32-bit Vista,* open the "System32" folder.
*If you have a 64-bit Vista,* open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file or folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • "itunes has stopped working" when closing itunes Windows Vista

Since November 2007, when I close itunes, I get Windows Vista error "itunes has stopped working" This got worse when it corrupted the itunes library itl file. I deinstalled QT and itunes version 7.5, and went back to version 7.4.3.1 - but the problem persists.
I believe this problem started with the install of version 7.5
Below is the crash information from Vista:

I am running Windows 8.1 and iTunes 11.1.3.8.  I found a simple solution by browsing through the support communities.  Here it is:   Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
This worked for me.  Good luck.

  • ITunes + Windows Vista + Games = Unsatisfactory playback experience

    My system details:
    Core 2 Duo E6600
    2GB RAM
Windows Vista Ultimate w/ latest updates
    iTunes 7.5.0.20
    NVIDIA 7950GT video card w/ 512MB memory
    Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Soundcard w/ latest drivers
10k RPM SATA drive for OS
10k RPM SATA drives for data (where music resides)
You'd think this would be enough to play music on iTunes without skipping. You would be wrong.
With only Firefox & iTunes running, it still manages to skip/crackle on playback when loading webpages/tabs.
    What gives?
Only iTunes does this, other applications manage playing 128kbit without any problems. E.g. WinAmp, Windows Media Player.
Doesn't happen in Mac OS X on my iTunes there, so clearly there are still "issues" with playback on Windows.

Numerous people have reported problems playing iTunes videos on Vista if the videos are stored on SATA disk drives.
From what I can tell looking at HP's website, almost all new HP systems include SATA disks. If you don't know whether your system has SATA disks, tell us the exact model number and we can probably figure it out.
If you do have the iTunes videos on SATA disks problem, there is currently no known solution.

  • HT1923 Can not Update to the lastest version of iTunes Windows Vista 32 bit

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit on a compaq laptop. I am trying to update to the lastest version of iTunes. I have tried to remove all of the exsisting componets of itunes but I am not able to remove iTunes and Apple Software Update. I get the same error message when trying to remove either.

Does anyone know how to remove these  items or how to proceed from here?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get aCode 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Problem with the new 64-bit edition of iTunes -- Windows Vista Ultimate

Very recently, I upgraded from Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit to the 64-bit edition. I also downloaded the 64-bit edition of the Windows-based iTunes.
My individual iTunes music files were stored on a separate internal hard drive that was never a part of the upgrade overhaul (C: drive was upgraded to the 64-bit edition; my iTunes files are located on the D: drive).
After opening iTunes, I immediately went to Edit > Preferences > Advanced (tab) and changed the "iTunes Music folder location." I located my iTunes folder on the D: drive and clicked "Select Folder."
Unfortunately, nothing happened. Meaning, iTunes does not recognize any of the files located within this iTunes folder. This is the exact same iTunes folder that I used under the 32-bit edition of the OS.
I have nearly 50 GB of music files, none of which are now part of my music file library.
    What's going on?

    Chris CA wrote:
If the songs are not tagged correctly (title, album, artist at a minimum), they will go into Unknown.
If they are tagged correctly, go to iTunes prefs -> Advanced and uncheck *Keep iTunes music folder organized* then close the prefs.
Re-open prefs and recheck *Keep iTunes music folder organized*.
All my music was imported from CDs using iTunes.
After unchecking "Keep iTunes music folder organized" it doesn't make any difference. Virtually everything is in "Unknown."
I can't believe this..... it's like iTunes doesn't recognize its previous handywork.
    Very frustrating!
If anyone know a way to quickly clear this up, let me know.

  • IPod Touch + iTunes + Windows Vista = NOT SYNCING!

I used to have no problem syncing my iPod Touch 3rd Gen to the computer. I now can no longer sync it. I have done countless of fixes, including clearing temp folder, deleting and reinstalling drivers, etc. Pretty much everything but wipe my harddrive clean. The iPod syncs to every other computer but mine, including a Windows. I have now wiped the iPod Touch twice.
I just want to use my iPod again. I was going to purchase another iPod soon but it seems as if my computer is now not syncing with iTunes. At one point it would show up in "My Computer" as a camera, but ever since I restored it, it does not show up at all.
