IView Isolation

Hi . . .
I am a novice who has just started on with EP. I was wondering why is iView <b>isolation</b> called so ?<u></u>
any answers ?
Gautam

Hi Gautam,
Isolation method for iviews decides iview retrieval,rendering and incorporation in the page.there r two types....embedded and url isolation
in url isolation, portal first loads the page then iview
but in embedded isolation, iview is loaded together with the page.

  • Iview Isolation Modes Question

    I have some strange situation here. I have a page that contains one embedded iView and 3 isolated url iViews.
    When I try to use client side eventing to communicate between two url iViews. Said : URL Iview "1" raiseEvent "A" , and only URL Iview B subscribe to Event "A", but the problem is - somehow the embedded iView react on Event "A" too, although I never subscribe to "Event A".
    Thanks for your suggestion on my problem in advance.
    Kent

    You are totally make sense. My initial design is to let the input field iView to be embedded, and the else of the data display iviews to be url.
    I will work around the isolation modes, trying to make every iviews to be url.
    Thanks for your great suggestion.
    I assigned full points to you.

  • Iview Isolation Method property

    Hi,
    The page contains 6 iviews, I created new iview and assigned to this page if refresh this iview complete page refreshing, I don’t want this complete page refreshing only iview should refresh, for this reason I set isolation method property of iview is URL but data is not displaying, if I set property EMBEDED data is displaying but refreshing complete page. Please any body tells the solution.
    Thanks

    hi,
    It is not advisable for a particular iview to have isolation property as URL and others as embeded. You can do a round-about. You can place the particular iview for which u need to set isolation method as URL in a page and add this page to the main page where other iviews are placed.
    Hope it helps...

  • Isolation Method in the Master Iview

    Hi all
    I have noticed that the Isolation Method for the Master Iview is hardcoded to "URL". But I need the portal integration of reports to be embedded so the server is fetching the report instead of the client. If Isolation Method=URL then the client will fetch the content from the BOE-server directly, and that is not allowed in our scenario since the end users cannot see the BOE-server, only the SAP Portal.
    How to bypass this issue?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
    Best regards,
    Martin Søgaard

    Hi Ingo
    I can elaborate. I have external users accessing an SAP Portal in domain A. In this SAP Portal a bunch of Webi reports are integrated using the Master Iview. The BOE server that contains these Webi reports is located in domain B. Now the challenge: The end users can access the SAP portal in domain B (over the web through an SAP Webdispatcher), but they have no access to the BOE server where the reports reside.
    If I was able to change the isolation method (this is an property of the BO Master Iview) from URL to Embedded, the Portal would fetch the content and send it to the client. But since the isolation method of the BO Master Iview is hardcoded to URL, the client is instead trying to fetch the content directly from the BOE server. And that server is not exposed to the web... and is not going to be exposed to the web.
    So my question is:
    1) Why is the BO Master Iview isolation method hardcoded to URL?
    2) If it is hardcoded to URL because in Embedded Mode som functionality would be lost, then what is the functionality that would be lost by using Isolation Method = Embedded instead of URL?
    3) Is there any obvious workarounds for this issue?
    Best regards,

  • Content of iview disappear when using imbedded isolation method

    Hi
    I have a strange problem with one of me iviews....
    I have developed an iview that uses marquee html tag in order to show moving text in a left to right direction.
    I set the Iview isolation method to url and added it to a page, the problem is whenever I choose the text inside I get a scroll bar that hides some of the text.
    In order to get rid of the scroll bar I changed the iview isolation method to imbedded but then the content of the iview disappear for some users.
    I guess it has to do with explorer definitions , because on my explorer I can view the iview content.
    I have compared all explorer definitions between me and the user that cant view content but still he and some others cant view content.
    do any of u have some suggestions???
    Thanks
    Nitsan

    Hi Harish,
    If you are looking in for some javascript code just see if this can help you.
    <script language="Javascript">
    function ToPrint() {
    self.print();
    </script>
    and the button define it as
    <hbj:button
    id="Print"
    text="Print"
    tooltip="Print"
    onClientClick="ToPrint()"
    design="STANDARD" />
    This should print the contents. Instead of window.print(), self.print() should work.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Uma.

  • Why EPCM.donavigate doesnt work for Iview with isolation type embedded

    I am using EPCM.donavigate in JavaScript  in portal jspdynpage to navigate to different page. This works fine when my iView  isolation method is URL but it doesnt work when it is embedded. Am I missing something here? some import?
    Regards,
    Nitesh

    Hi,
    In Javacript of Portal jsp page, we are calling EPCM.doNavigate method  as below:
       function callfunc(obj,externalLink,rid,portalPageURL,InvalidLink)
                   return EPCM.doNavigate('ROLES://' + obj)
    Final URL look something like this...
    portal_content/com.sap.pct/com.sap.prod_fld/com.sap.roles/com.sap.rol_career/com.sap.wks_1_1/Folder_2/com.sap.pag_1_1_2
    This Code works only for Iviews with URL Isolation but doesnt work with Embedded Iviews as my Page which contains this Iviews is also Embedded and Desktop is also embedded.

  • WD Java iView not opening in Safari

    Hi All,
    System: EP6.0
    I have a WD Java iView in portal that opens fine with IE and Mozilla but shows a blank view on Safari.
    The same application when viewed directly via link http://<HOST>:<PORT>/webdynpro/dispatcher is also displayed properly
    on Safari.
    We know that Safari is not the recomended browser etc. but still if the application can be viewed from the above link
    there must be something on portal framework that prevents the WD app to be displayed.
    Please share your thoughts.
    Thanks
    Avinash

    If I recall correctly, I have seen this behavior once using Safari on SAP EP 6.40...
    Could you try to set your WD iView isolation method to URL instead of Embedded?
    Since the portal uses some additional scripting (EPCM etc) and CSS styling, changing the isolation method might help
    Hope this helps,

  • Left Nav lost after clicking submit button in iView

    Hi Community,
    I created an APC called CreateOrder which implements AbstractPortalComponent. This component acts as controller. In doContent() method, It checks if the create order submit button is clicked or not, if no, it  returns createOrder.jsp page, if yes, it returns createOrderResult.jsp page. Everything works fine except left navigation disapear after I click submit button createOrder.jsp and createOrderResult.jsp shows up.
    by the way I can create a createOrderIview using the APC component, able to see createOrder.jsp page and have result page shows up.
    Anyone know what problem here? any help/sugguestion are very appriciated.

    Make sure your iView isolation mode is set to URL...
    Cheers

  • ABAP webdynpro iView issue with Internet explorer

    Greetings,
    We are trying to integrate ABAP webdynpro with portal using the standard SAP webdynpro iView template, we are able to successfully integrate and display on portal pages.
    However if we are using IE version 7.0 browser we do not have any issues, but when we try to use IE version 6.0 the webdynpro portal pages does not display any content. A workaround was to open up the IE settings and change the setting for Navigate sub-frames across different domains to 'enable' from 'disable'.
    This fixed the issue.
    Also we came across information that we can change the setting to force the portal to use the css from the ABAP backend by changing the iView property 'Supply portal stylesheet' from 'Yes' to 'No'. Does this affect the portal behavior in rendering content in MS IE.
    Please let us know if there are any other methods to overcome this issue, as this will affect many of our users.
    iview isolation is of type 'URL'
    page isolation is set to 'Embedded'
    Portal page used is default framework type not webdynpro type
    thanks,

  • How to embed J2EE web application output in iView (NW 7.3)

    Hello experts here my situation:
    I have a set of JSPs and Servlets accessing a EJB to expose data contained in a DB. All is packaged as explained in the following link:
    How to use JPA 1.0 with NW 7.30 - CRM - SCN Wiki
    Everything works perfectly.
    Now I need to show the HTML generated by such web module through an iView. Then I created a Portal Application Project with an Abstract Portal Component that is deployed on my Portal and exposed through an iView.
    I tried to perform http redirection to the web module but I got that the entire page was overwritten with the generated HTML.
    What I want to obtain is to show the generated HTML only in the iView's space, and not the entire page.
    Is there a simple way to show in my iView the output generated by the web module?
    I would like to reuse 100% of my code.. please help me.
    Thank you very much
    --Andrea

    Hi,
    Did you use response.sendRedirect(location) in your portal component?
    Did you put the iView isolation method type as URL?
    https://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73ehp1/helpdata/en/49/803219C6242221E10000000A42189D/content.htm
    This would run your iView in seperate iFrame, so anything you do there doesnt effect the rest of the portal page.

  • Showing Visual composer iviews within Web Page Composer (wpc)?

    I am able to integrate KM iviews from the PCD into my web page composer pages, but when I try showing Flex 2 iviews generated by Visual Composer the flash runs on top of everything else on the page. The flash is simply put at page coordinates 0 x 0 whatever page region you try to put it in.
    This is if iview isolation methold is set to embedded. If iview isolation method is set to URL then nothing is shown as the region is simply collapsed as if the content wasn't there.
    I know there is a limitation to using Web Dynpro iviews with WPC pages, but the documentation says nothing about Visual Composer iviews.
    Tips?
    Henning Strand

    Fixed by choosing fixed height for the iview (pcd config) and keeping isolation method set to URL.
    This is as opposed to integrating KM iviews (document lists) where isolation method should be set to embedded and height kept to automatic.
    Cheers

    Hi ASR,
    Please check page object is locked or not. if it locked then unlock it from system administraiton >> monitoring >> portal >>object locking. remove if page object is locked.
    Refer to Page Editing :  http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/a3/badf3d48b05d5ae10000000a11405a/frameset.htm

  • URL iviews are not cached in client browser!!!

    Hi All,
    We have URL ivews of ASP.NET pages in our Portal Home page.
    Those ASP.NET pages are located in MS Windows Server (IIS).
    It takes long time to load the Portal Home page.
    We set the Allow Client-Side Caching - Yes, Cache Level - Shared, Cache
    Validtiy Period: 7.59.59 for all URL iviews.
    For the Home page which contains all URL iviews Isolation Method
    property is set to Embedded.
    We set "Enable Content Expiration" - 8 Hours for the "Root - virtual
    directory" in IIS.
    When I browse those pages with the URL directly in IE (outside Portal).
    It runs faster and returns with HTTP status code "cached".
    All the pages including HTML are cached in client browser.
    When I logged into portal all images, css and javascript files are
    cached in the client browser but not the HTML content. It returns with
    HTTP status code 200 whick means URL iviews are not cached in client browser.
    Thanks
    Thruna Shanmuga

    Hi Thruna,
    The only header which influences caching behaviour in your request is the 'Cache-Control: private' header, which afaik means that the page cannot be cached by a shared cache (such as a web proxy), but can be cached in a personal proxy such as the browser cache.
    However the headers do not specify a specific expiration date which means that the browser cannot know how long the response can be cached and thus has to check validity every browser session. The most optimistic scenario would be that the browser checks if the cached entry is still valid by requesting the resource and adding a If-Modified-Since or If-None-Match header. The server could then respond with a 304 Not Modified, skipping sending the actual resource in the response body.
    If you want the resource to be fully cached you have to give it an expiration date in the future. This has to be done in the IIS server, maybe through ASP tags in the page.
    I do not know why the page is loading from cache in the non-portal scenario but I can only suggest that you make absolutely sure the cache item was not validated already in the session.
    With kind regards,
    Thijs Janssen

  • ESS iviews height / size issue

    Hi,
    My ESS iViews (Web Dynpro Java) are appearing not in full height in the content area but a vertical scroll bar appears on right side. I tried following setting, though none worked:
    - Height type to "Automatic" for both iView and Page and resetting Maximum Automatic height to a higher value i.e. 1500 pixels.
    - Height type to "Full Page" for both iView and Page.
    - Height type to "Fixed " for both iView and Page, setting "Fixed Height" value to higher value, 1500 pixels.
    - Hight type to "Fixed" for Page, setting "Fixed Height" value to higher value, 1500 pixels and iView Height type to "Full Page".
    - Hight type to "Fixed" for Page, setting "Fixed Height" value to higher value, 1500 pixels and iView Height type to "Automatic".
    - Setting iView Isolation method to "URL" instead of "Embedded".
    I searched the forum thoroughly for solutions, thus resulting in above Permutations but none worked.  I tried searching for any suitable SAP Notes but could not find any for Web Dynpro Java, though there are a few for Web Dynpro ABAP.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Aditya.

    Hi All,
    I tried with clearing the navigation cache and browser cache, opened the delta-linked iView from Page object and found same height values as that of iView object. This problem is appearing right since the ESS BP was installed. No changes were made to the framework page or desktop inner page. Other standard and custom iviews are appearing fine.
    Is there anything from SPRO configuration (Homepage framework) that drives the iView/Page Appearance-Size property ?
    I tried several combinations as mentioned above but of no avail.
    Any help would be highly appretiated.
    Thanks,
    Aditya.
