IView Timeout Error in Production

Hi
We are having one application developed by JSPDynPage ...this application will do lots of DB transactions...Some times when the load is very high on the DB the users will get this Iview Timeout error and they will not see any thing in the portal Content Area.
Please help.
Thanks
Ajay

Hi,
Note however, that you should not create any threads on the java application server, this is not allowed by the Java EE specifiction since the application server is responsible for handling threads.
You could try to implement as a service (not sure if this will work), or a combination of a service and a message driven bean (service sends JMS message to MDB which process it, and sends back to the service which listens on a queue). Note however that the MDB solution has a high overheader (It does work, as I've implement it myself one time).

  • Java iview timeout error

I have an java iview with many input fields. It needs more than 20 minutes to be filled up. But if it crosses 15 or 20 minutes then i get a timeout error saying "Error in service call of Resource". Do you have any suggestion as to how can I increase this session timeout period?

Yes, I am using session scope and it seems this session expires after 20 minutes. I will trying changeing web.xml and will let you know further.
One more suggestion from Detlev was to use HTTP event listeners i.e. implement a listener that reacts on unbinding the beans(s) from the sessions (that happens when the session gets invalidated) and then persist it "somewhere else" and retrieve it in the case I am working on. (i.e. no bean to be found in session, but also no initial call of my component). Has anybody worked on similar issue? Can somebody share part of his code?

  • Interesting observation about iView timeout - Need Suggestions

    Hi,
We have an iview which has the timeout property set to 180 seconds. Recently we observed that we have been getting iview timeout errors for this iview. As most of you are aware the message appears as "The iView has timed out. There is no cached content to display. Click 'Reload' to retrieve updated content. You may need to wait for the cache to retrieve the content from the source. Reload"
Normally the content in this iView does not take more than 100 milli seconds to be retrieved. But looks like we are having occassional hiccups where the backend calls are failing (or taking too long) and hence the iview timout is occuring. What I observed is that if the iview times out once, then from the next time the timeout message appears straight away without even trying to execute the iveiw. This happens even if you logout and login even with a different user.
So i am sure that the server/iview (or something else) is remembering or caching that an iview timeout has occurred once on this iview and hence when we access the iview again it is not even bothering to execute and showing the iview timout message stragiht away. The only solution to this problem is to bounce the node on which the problem is coming (which is bad).
Is there any setting where we can tell not to cache these iView timouts? In this way the iview will execute the every time (even if an iview timeout has happenned earlier) and we will get the results.
Any help in this is highly appreciated.
    Regards,

    Hi Sudhir,
Please try this let me know
    1. When the timeout occurs, can you refresh your browser cahce or delete all the cookies and history of browser. Re-try and see if the iview is re-executed.
    2. Check the backend when you call the iview, how much time is process taking.
    3. Check the parameter icm/keep_alive_timeout, if it is 60. you increare it 90 or 120.
This would be my starting point.
    Thank You,

  • IVIEW Server Timeout Error

    Hi ,
Where can I set the server time out for the iviews. I am getting server timeout error for one iview(which is taking nearly one minute to process the request). After completing the 50 seconds(approximatly) it is giving server timeout error.  At the same time  other iviews which are deployed in the same environment are running properly even they are taking more time(2 min) to process the request. There is no timeout setting in load property of the iview configuration for individual iview. we couldn't find the problem why the server timeout coming for only one iview. I am using EP5. Help me to resolve this
    Thanks
    Tatayya

    Hi Sunil Nair,
Exactly it is the part of the business package. In that iview i am connecting to the SAP R/3 and executing the function module to get the data. Actullay it is taking time to get the data is nearly one and half minute. Even if get the server timeout problem for the iview at frontend the background process(getting data from R/3 and setting to the JSP tableview) is completed. This I could confirm through the Logger.
what will be the problem for this iview only when there is no problem for other iviews which are taking 2 to 3 mins time to get the data.
    Thanks

We resolved this error. It was a timeout setting that we needed to change on the J2EE that allowed it to bypass the timeout error.

If you were to disable failover but keep load balancing on, Web Server would return an error for any request destined for an offline origin server. (I think maybe you misunderstand how failover works; Web Server will only failover a request with a sticky session to another origin server if the sticky origin server is truly down. The fact that an earlier request failed will not prevent Web Server from trying to send a request with a sticky session to the correct origin server.)

That is why we think that there are "innocent victims" of this TIME OUT issue.
I used to have a bunch of <IF></IF><ELSE></ELSE> statements in my obj.conf files for some other things, but had to pull them out as the GUI would consistently scramble the lines up and cause major problems...so I am more than a little leary about using them again. (But that's a whole different subject.) :-)

  • Error reading product file driver files

When attempting apply a large merge patch I receive the following error:
Screening out files not valid for this installation...
    Determining valid on-site files...
    AutoPatch error:
    The following file is missing:
    /oracle/prodappl/pa/11.5.0/admin/driver/pasb038.drv
    AutoPatch error:
Error reading product file driver files [complete; make tapes]
    AutoPatch error:
    Error determining valid on-site files
    Any ideas?
I've tried using options=noprereq option, but that didn't help.

    - Try to restore the file from a backup you have Or just copy it from any other environment.
    - Make sure that you have included all pre-req patches in the merged file.
I've tried using options=noprereq optionBy this you tell adpatch not to check for pre-req, use 'options=prereq' instead.

  • Open socket timeout error

Sometime I can write to the local shared variable through data socket. But sometime cannot. Even though, I still can read/write through shared variable monitor.
The error is in the open socket, said connect to peer timeout. I set timeout to 10s or left blank both not work.
I am using 8.2.1 on vista. The computer has 2 lan ports.
I met almost same case long time ago. I solved it by diable NETBIOS and one of the lan port.
This time, I disabled netbios already. But in vista, seems not able to disable the other lan port.
    Any suggestion?
