J2EE 6.20 Java Cluster - Synchronisation of EP AND J2EE Components
Hello,
<b>
J2EE 6.20 Java Cluster -> Synchronisation of EP AND J2EE Components </b>
We have a productive SAP Enterprise Portal J2EE Cluster Farm with 3 Server. The version of EP is: 6.0 SP2 Patch 28. One State Controller, one Backup Controller and one new Dialog Instance.
We would like to know, which folders, shares and other j2ee/ep-components are synchronized from the state Controller-Server to the new Dialog Instance?
Best Regards,
Ralf Steffens
Thank you for your response.
In the cluster administration, the Server IP column reflects the IP of the OS instance on which the server runs. The question is relative to which LDAP server each server process grabs from a round-robin type resolution.
Any other thoughts?

Is is possible to shutdown the Java Cluster using an OS command?
We have a Netweaver 7.0 dual stack system. How can we shutdown the java cluster only using a Unix OS command? I tried "stopsap j2ee" but that shutdown the j2ee and abap services. I only want to shutdown the j2ee services (dispatcher, server & sdm). I know you can shutdown the java cluster using SMICM and jcmon, but these are interactive interfaces. I am trying to create an Unix script just to shutdown the java components.
Is this possible?
Thank you!Hi Magnus...
The command STOPSAP with the switch J2EE stop SAP NetWeaver
as per SAP start/stop
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/71/1c9a4267f9c66ae10000000a155106/content.htm
but may be try this
STOPSAP.EXE name=<SID> nr=<SYSNR> SAPDIAHOST=<host>
one thing remembered ABAP Schema has formula SAP<SID> ( Database Schema), but in Java Schema SAP<SID>DB ( there is additional u201CDBu201D).
ABAP instance called DVEBMG<system number>, JAVA/SCS Instance called SCS<java system number>, commonly, for example my server uses DVEBMG00 and SCS01

Hi all,
can some one explain me regarding Java cluster
SwamyHi,
The java cluster consists of the Central Instance and the Central Services.
Central Services consist of the message server and the enqueue server. Since it provides the central functions.
Message server is used for communication while enqueue server is used for synchronization/locking.
Central instance is the instance which has the dispatcher and the concerned server nodes.
Dispatcher is the one which receives the client request either directly or via sep web dispatcher and then decides as to which server nodes are free to service the request.
Server nodes are the one's which serves the request where the application logic are applied.
SDM( Software deployment manager) is also installed along with these during installation.
It itself is a big topic but at this point i have given you the basics of it.
Any issues feel free to ask.
Reward with points as an appreciation. -
Deploying CR or BO to Web - NOT Using J2EE components or Web Services
I'm looking for a way to publish canned reports to the web from Business Objects/Crystal Reports, WITHOUT requiring access to any underlying server directories (which looks like it leaves web services out of the running). Reports must be stored/accessed through the Business Objects repository (which eliminates J2EE components).
Reports will need to be available in both PDF and another format (either HTML or RTF is okay). Reports must be 1)able to be visible through a web browser and, 2)linked to directly from an application residing on another application server (read: should not display as part of a Business Objects or Crystal Reports interface).
The report designer must be able to make/save changes on the BO server within BO (or Crystal Reports) and have the changes display in the above linked-to report/page.
I've looked through the documentation and the forums, and I'm not finding anything that does this - could someone point me in the right direction?
Our environment is Business Objects Enterprise Release 2 XI, with either Crystal Reports XI or Business Reports XI on the desktop and/or server (we have report designers using one, the other, or both). These are new products for us. As stated above, Developers do not have access to any underlying server directories so will need to be able to do this only using the BO/CR interface(s). (We will be linking to the page(s) from a java application on another application server).
Can this be done? If so, what search term(s) should I be using to find documentation? (A direct link is helpful, too
We are a java shop.
Thanks for any assistance! No, but I have investigated it in more detail. I am fairly certain that it is a bug in wsdeploy, the evidence for which is the number of other bugs for this tool noted in the forum. Since wsdeploy takes as input the portable war file, I tried manually editing this file to remove the culprit...to no avail. My next attempt is to try manually ADDING a bogus file to the war file, and see if that does anything. If that doesn't work, I may try going back to xrpcc and see if that has any sucess. I suppose I could always buy Visual Studio.NET (<gr>).

Building XML DDs for J2EE components in WL 7
I get the following error when I use the build auto create)option to
generate
Deployment Descriptors in Weblogic 7.
"No J2EE components to generate Deployments Descriptors"
Am I missing something?Ah, I was trying to do a lookup from session bean for the env-entry defined in
the web.xml. After reading the J2EE spec, I see this just won't work. env-entries
are only accessible from within the component where they are defined.
Still the error message with "comp.env" instead of the expected "comp/env" is
a bit confusing.
Not much traffic in this newsgroup, is there?

If I create an "env-entry" block for a name (e.g. "MySchemaName") in
my web.xml
file and deploy the web app, I should be able to look up the name from
my webapp
with the line:
<br>
myInitialContext.lookup("java:comp/env/MySchemaName");
<br>
However when I do that I get the error message:
<br>
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Unable to resolve 'java:comp.env/MySchemaName'
<br>
Note that the "comp/env" prefix has been changed to "comp.env". This
worked under
WL 6.1. Is this a bug in WL 7's JNDI or a bug in the error message or
both or
something else altogether?
The immediately previous line successfully performs an EJBHome lookup
using the
same Initial Context object. The main difference is that the EJBHome
name is defined
thru the EJB deployment descriptors, not the web.xml.

I am trying to use a website that requires that my computer have the latest version of Java, which I have updated and installed Java 7 Update 51 (64-bit), however Firefox does not recognize that I even have Java on my computer. My computer is 64-bit
When I run "Verify Java Version" it show nothing is installed... but it is, I know that for a fact because it shows in my "Control Panel/Programs/Programs and Features".
When I go back to the Java Download page, the following message is visible:
"We have detected you may be viewing this page in a 32-bit browser. If you use 32-bit and 64-bit browsers interchangeably, you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java in order to have the Java plug-in for both browsers."
My question is this:
Is there a way to change my Firefox browser from 32-bit to 64-bit.... because it appears that this is way Java is not functioning properly?Firefox needs 32-bit plugins, so you'll need to install 32-bit Java for Firefox.
No, you can't change Firefox from 32-bt to 64-bit. There is a Nightly 64-bit version (alpha) of Firefox, but it is used only to test for regressions until development is resumed. -
i can't use indesign since upgrade, it keeps asking me to upgrade java which I have done and still wont open please help me i have a deadline

Sample JAVA Mobile Server Publish code, and technical questions
Dear Oracle technical representative, or user:
I need to programmatically create, and remove publications using the pure JAVA classes of Consolidator, ConsolidatorManager, and ResourceManager for the Mobile Server in OracleLite 9i Release 5.0.1. On the creation side I have managed to get the example found in the directory OraLite501\Mobile\Server\Sample\Sample11 functioning using my installation parameters. I had a very difficult time of it because (1) the sample11 code fails to open an jdbc connection to the Mobile Server Repository Schema with the function Consolidator.OpenConnection, and (2) the ResourceManager function openConnection will not work unless the Webtogo.ora file is in the current working directory. The ConsolidatorManager function OpenConnection may also not work unless the Webtogo.ora file is in the current working directory, but I did test the hypothesis. Both of these problems need to be addressed in the sample11 code, and documentation to save other software developers from wasting hours of their valuable time. See line 223, 386, and 448 in the Publish.Java code that follows this problem description.
With the above two problems resolved, I can now programmatically create publications, but no hints on how to programmatically remove a publication exist in the documentation. The application I am developing will require the dynamic creation, and removal of publications. Also, when developing applications the complete removal of a publication is absolutely necessary when you have botched a publication. Thus my first question is What sequence of ResourceManager, and ConsolidatorManager function calls will completely remove a Publication?.
I also have two issues remaining with the code that I have so far developed. These issues will most likely be resolved, when I obtain instructions on how to completely remove a publication, and associated users. But, perhaps not. Referencing the Publish.java file that follows this problem description,
1. The ResourceManager function dropUser does not drop a user. See my comments, and code beginning at line 277 in Publish.java. Do I need to de-instantiate all subscriptions, and unsubscribe all subscription users before calling this function.? I think, I tried the de-instantiate, unsubscribe sequence without success, but in the confusion I may not have made the try.
2. How do I get rid of an index created with the ConsolidatorManager function DropPublicationItemIndex?. My comments on this problem begin at line 522 in Publish.java. For some reason the DropPublicationItemIndex function call made below line 448 does not work. What function calls are required prior to calling the DropPublicationItemIndex function?
Throughout the Publish.java code, I have made comments about some of the problems that I have had in getting the sample11 code working for my installation parameters. I think these comments should help the programmers maintaining the ResourceManager, and ConsolidatorManager code improve the stability of the programs. Please pass these comments, and attached files to the appropriate individuals,
if you are in a position to do so.
The other files that follow the Publish.java code are
1. Compile.bat - Compiles Publish.java using j2sdk1.4.0.
2. Run.bat - Executes Publish using \ j2sdk1.4.0\jre\server\jvm.dll.
3. Webtogo.ora
4. tnsnames.ora for the Mobile Server.
5. tnsnames.ora for the Database.
Feel free to access my server if you need to do so in resolving my problems. The parameters you will need to gain access can be found at the top of Publish.java, and in the included *.ora files.
Thanks,
Thomas G. Matney

End Database tnsnames.ora fileDear Oracle technical representative, or user:
Thanks,
Thomas G. Matney

// It is very disturbing that the program fails unless the webtogo.ora file is not
// in the current working directory. Because the OpenConnection functions of both
// the ResourceManager, and ConsolidatorManager both appear to need access to the
// webtogo.ora file, and they are finding them in the current directory, the
// logical conclusion is that both of the classes are attempting to open the
// webtogo.ora with the relative path webtogo.ora, and not the absolute path
// OraHomeLite/Mobile/Server/Bin/webtogo.ora. As this has to be the case, why
// is this very important fact not in the documentation? Or, am I wrong?

My web page uses a Java Applet to allow my visitors to replay chess games; the Chess Viewer Deluxe applet was written by Nikolai Pilafov some time ago and has been working properly for some time (until recently). I don't monitor this part of my site regularly so I am not sure when it began to fail. On his web site [http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/chess-viewer-deluxe.html] he has a link to check LiveConnect object functionality (which fails for OBJECT tags). His recommendation is to "seek platform specific support which might be available from the JRE developers for your platform".
I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Until I checked the LiveConnect object functionality, I was unable to identify the source of the console error messages. This does seem to be the smoking gun.
Is Apple aware of this problem? Are these classes no longer supported? Has anyone else had this problem? You can attempt to recreate the problem locally by going to my web page: http://donsmallidge.com/DonSmallidgeChess.html
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

I will do some more checking and reply here if I can determine why it is working now (and more importantly, why it didn't work before).

Use of Java Swing +Applescript to move and resize Mac OS X windows using
Here is an interesting use of Java on Mac OS X and Applescript to
enable moving and resizing of windows using mouse and keyboard:
[MoveResize tool|http://code.google.com/p/sandipchitalesmacosxstuff/#Move_and_resize_windows_on_Mac_OS_X]
How it works:
The implementation uses Applescript to get the front most window and
it's bounds. It sends the bounds rectangle to a server implemented in
Java over a socket connection. The Java server takes the screen shot
of the full Desktop and uses it as the Image label (a JLabel with
ImageIcon) as the content pane of an undecorated JFrame which has the
same bounds as the Desktop. A JPanel with semitransparent background
and a dark rounded rectangular border is given the same bounds that
were received over the socket. This JPanel is added to the
PALETTE_LAYER of the JFrame's layered pane - which makes it appear
floating in front of the front window. A Mouse and a Key listener
added to the JPanel allow moving and resizing of the JPanel. When the
user types the ENTER key the JFrame is hidden and the new bounds of
the JPanel are sent back to the Applescript over the socket connection
which moves and resizes the front most window.
Enjoy!

Edited by: chitale on May 14, 2009 4:12 AMCopy the /Home/Documents/ folder to the NAS drive. That drive needs to support AFP or you may run into filename problems and/or other file related problems due to filesystem differences.
Once the folder has been moved to the NAS select the folder on the NAS and CTRL- or RIGHT-click. Select Make Alias from the drop down menu. You should now have an alias named "Documents alias." On the Mac put the /Home/Documents/ folder in the Trash but don't delete it. Copy the alias file from the NAS to the /Home/ folder. Rename it to simply "Documents." Double-click on it to be sure it opens the folder on the NAS. If so you can empty the Trash. You're done. -
I have used the Firefox troubleshooting guides, no good. The Java patch is enabled and shows when I check applications. However when I run Firefox plugins it still shows the java plug in is outdated and need to be updated immediately.
OK, I went to the Firefox knowledge base article you cited and followed the directions with the exception that in the drop down menu I choose Adobe Reader for PDF files rather than the plug in default that apparently was set by the Java patch. Problem solved !!!!!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to get me back to the basic place I needed to be to correct this issue. YOU ROCK!!!!

Creating a Java content tree from scratch and then marshal it to XML data
Hi,
After binding a schema using JAXB binding, I wrote a class to create a Java content tree from scratch and then marshal it to create an XML document. To see if the resulting xml document is correct, I opened it in XMLSpy and tried to validate it against the original schema.... I got the following error:
"Unable to locate a reference to a supported schema kind (DTD, DCD, W3C Schema, XML-Data, Biz Talk) within this document instance"
Then I realized that the generated xml document didnot contain the following for the root element:
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" and xsi:schemaLocation="....."
i.e, the XML Schema Instance namespace and the schema location.
How do I get these attributes incorporated into the XML document generated during the marshal process.
Thanks. How do I get these attributes incorporated into the XML document generated during the marshal process.
Add xmlns:xsi and xsi:schemaLocation attributes to the root element in the schema.
<xsd:attribute name="xmlns:xsi" fixed="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"/> -
I'm having 10.8.3 and today 18-Apr Thursday I had installed latest java 7 update. Now when ever I test java page it just redirects the page to Java download on both Firefox and safari. I tried deleting the cache from Java Sec Panel - temp ile but still same prob.
Make sure that the plugin is not automatically disabled in Firefox:
