We have been using j2ee.jar previously in our project but its been recommended to pick it from Weblogic but there are too many jars similar to it, plz guide which one to ake in our project.
can u explain your question a bit more.
which version of jdev? are you making fusion application or j2ee application.Which jar you are uploading? -
We are implementing EP and R/3 on MySAP ERP 2004. There are separate J2EE engines for portal and R/3. The R/3 j2ee accepts tickets from the portal and passes to ABAP instance. We are looking to deploy WebDynpro applications outside of the portal. Can the R/3 J2EE both issue tickets with authentication and accept tickets from the portal? Or should only the portal j2EE issue the login tickets?
Hi Stephen,
although I don't have practical experience with that, by reading through the docs I don't see a reason not to have a J2EE Engine as both ticket issuing and accepting system. Perhaps you could take a look at the configuration procedures in the docs and try them out. Here's the link: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/53/695b3ebd564644e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
Hope that helps at least a bit! -
CMR - Can a primary key also be a foreign key?
Hi,
Has anyone come across the following problem? Although I mention Jdeveloper below I believe it is a general J2EE issue!
I have two tables
customer
customer_id (PK)
individual
customer_id (PK)
customer_id in individual is the primary key for that table. It is also a foreign key ( related back to customer).
If I use JDeveloper to drag in the two tables ( into a class diagraqm), I have a problem.
JDeveloper "sees" the Individual bean foreign key mapping and generates a getCustomer() method (which returns a handle to the appropriate customer bean).
However as it "removes" the getCustomer_id() method(which returns the actual customer_id), the primary_key reference is dropped.
When I try and compile, JDeveloper quite rightly complains with "where is the primary key".
Can anyone help? Do I need to make it a rule that the foreign key is not also the primary key?
thanks in advance,
KevinHi Kevin,
I would not pursue this model if I was you. The only thing OC4J supports without killing yourself is to let each table has its own primary key (preferably not composed) and to make all foreign key's optional !
We have spent months trying to make it work and we are getting little or no support from oracle, even though we are paying many euros for a partnering contract.

[JHS 10.1.3] Pages in WEB-INF
Hi,
I am generating a project using JHeadstart 10.1.3
with the default setting for the UI Pages directory (/WEB-INF/page)
When I try to deploy to OC4J standalone, the pages in the WEB-INF directory
are not accessible.
I read that I have to construct a index.jspx file that forwards to
the first page (Home.jspx)
This is my index.jspx:
<jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0">
<jsp:scriptlet> request.getRequestDispatcher("WEB-INF/page/Home.jspx").forward(request,response);
</jsp:scriptlet>
</jsp:root>
This works, but I now have the problem of not getting a valid FacesContext:
500 Internal Server Error
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Cannot find FacesContext
at javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentTag.doStartTag(UIComponentTag.java:405)
at com.sun.faces.taglib.jsf_core.ViewTag.doStartTag(ViewTag.java:105)

etc. etc.
What is the required way of setting up the forward (and having a valid FacesContext)?

Sorry for the late reply.
As far as I know, having JSF pages in WEB-INF is no problem, as long as you run them with /faces/ in the URL (for example: http://localhost:8988/MyProject-ViewController-context-root/faces/WEB-INF/page/Employees.jspx).
This sounds like a JDeveloper/ADF issue or an OC4J/J2EE issue that is not related to JHeadstart. To simplify the test case, you could create a simple drag-and-drop ADF application without JHeadstart and see if the same problem occurs there. Can you please log a TAR at MetaLink ( http://metalink.oracle.com/ ), or ask this question at the JDeveloper forum at http://otn.oracle.com/discussionforums/jdev.html or the OC4J/J2EE forum at OC4J ?
Thanks,

Hi,
Wanted to know to what extent java is used in Oracle siebel CRM.
Heard the main core work is in C++.
I have 2 + exp in java will it be good to work in this area.
* Heard java has only UI development part in this.(is jsp used)
To what extend is java as a developer used here.
Heard its very diferent to what java is used in industry.
Example all html and jsp created via Oracle specific framework.
So you tend to forget the real core java/j2eeI'm not sure many of the Siebel folks are actively involved in this forum -- it's specifially for OC4J and general J2EE issues.
You will probably be better off posting it as a general question to a Siebel forum here on OTN.

Language problems on German XP with English
I installed J2EE 1.4 with jdk and jre in order to run ArgoUML with it.
Installation seems to be succesful in the sense that I can start the admin console.
I cannot however go to the sun page http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/demos.html
where I am supposedly able to launch java web start demos. The error message I get is
"In order to launch the requested application, you need Java Web Start.
It comes as part of the 1.4.2 SDK/JRE.
Download Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition, v 1.4.2 (J2SE) ---- I DID
If you have already downloaded and installed Java Web Start,

I have IE 6.0
Invoking argouml.jar from the command line with java -jar argouml.jar %l sort of works.
But, the languages class. I have a german notebook, insalling an english version. Half the
functions are disabled. Is it a J2EE issue or an ArgoUML issue... ?
As you can see, I seem to have 2 problems.
My brouser is JavaScript enabled.
Any ideas what little thing I am missing to get Java Web Start to work?Based on this it is somewhat unclear if you installed J2SE 1.4.2 on this system as part of J2EE 1.4 SDK installation or as standalone J2SE 1.4.2 installation.
If you only have J2SE 1.4.2 installed through J2EE 1.4 SDK what might be happening here is that JDK which is installed through J2EE 1.4 SDK installation gets installed as 'private' installation used by J2EE SDK and does not go through all installation steps that would happen with standalone J2SE 1.4.2 installation (i.e. it doesn't install 'shared' JRE, update all Windows registry entries that would otherwise be updated). That might interfere with WebStart startup. -
Hi all,
A problem with a slight difference from the one just posted by vakkanti about http-session sharing.
In our servlet/JSP application the users can of course open a new window within their browser.
The problem is that both windows are now using the same HTTP-session because the other session has not yet been invalidated and that gives problems in the use of session variables etc.. How can I force that the the new window is using a new session? Or otherwise at least deal elegantly with this problem. It must be a well known problem I think.
Regards,
RonaldHello Ronald,
I do not thinnk that is a 'J2EE issue' in the sense this is the way browser reacts. When you open a new window you are in the same context in term of cookie, session, etc etc. All container will react the same way with a new opened window.
The only way that I now to have multiple windows and different sessions is:
- on Internet Explorer and with creatin a new process by running IE (Clicking or run command) not with the File>New window , or any links.
Could you explain why you need multiple session in different window? What is the businness requirement of your application? (we may be able to find a work around, since the behavior your expect is not supported by browsers)
Regards

I am in the process of moving our web application over to WebLogic 6.1. Actually,
I'm creating the WebApp for the first time, since 5.1 didn't require it. Our
application creates .pdf files on the fly and places it off the http root directory.
What I have noticed is that ANY file that is put in the application directories
will not show up until the server is restarted.
There must be a config parameter to change this so that new files are available
to browser users immediately.
Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!
BrianIt sounds like we are in a similar situation. I am using "managed" servers.
I spoke extensively with BEA Support last night -- and they basically told me
the same thing. You have to either use the deploy utility to deploy new files
(static or otherwise) to you WebApp, or there is a refresh utility that you can
run from the command line. I can't remember the name of it right off the top
of my head, but it is referenced in the docs.
As far as we are concerned, this is a serious flaw in WebLogic 6.1. I'm not knowledgeable
enough to know if this is really a Sun j2EE issue or not, but I wouldn't think
so. This seems like implementation (BEA) specific. This little flaw could
cause us to seriously rethink which application server we're going to use.
I find it difficult to believe that BEA couldn't anticipate this type of activity
-- where static content is constantly being added to the application. BEA support
suggested that I don't know managed servers, but instead use the admin server
to run the app and keep it in development mode so new static content is automatically
"deployed"!! Not the best solution I can think of, since another BEA resource
I have dealt with strongly recommends AGAINST running a production system in development
mode.
Anyone have any additional ideas??
Thanks.

I'm not totally sure, but I was across the same problem one or twomonths
ago, and
took a lot to find out what was happening.
In my situation I was using a StartManaged Bea Weblogic application.
In this case you must use a specific utility to redeploy .jsp .html files.
Since I'm not sure you are in exactly the same situation, please tell
me if you
use managed of normal bea web startup.

I am in the process of moving our web application over to WebLogic 6.1.
Actually,
I'm creating the WebApp for the first time, since 5.1 didn't require
it. Our
application creates .pdf files on the fly and places it off the http
root directory.
What I have noticed is that ANY file that is put in the application
directories
will not show up until the server is restarted.
There must be a config parameter to change this so that new files are
available
to browser users immediately.
Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

We got error "System is unable to interpret the SSO ticket received"
We got error "System is unable to interpret the SSO ticket received" on Backend system(R/3 4.7).
We use SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP15.
Please let us know what is problems ?
We done following steps in SAP EP.
1. Created LOGON-METHOD (Logon Method : SAPLOGONTICKET).
2. Export Public-key (verify.der) from SAP EP.
(System Admin -> System config -> Keystore Administration -> Download)
We done following steps in SAP R/3.
3. Start STRUSTSSO2 Transaction.
In the PSE status frame on the left, choose the system PSE.
In the certificate section, choose Import Certificate.
The Import Certificate screen appears.
Choose the File tab.
In the File path field, enter the path of the portal's verify.der file.
Set the file format to DER coded and confirm.
In the Trust Manager, choose Add to PSE.
Choose Add to ACL, to add the Portal Server to the ACL list.
In the dialog box that appears, enter follows:
system ID :J2E
client :000
Subject name :CN=J2E
Issuer name :CN=J2E
Serial number:00
Save your entry.
4. Set profile parameters
login/accept_sso2_ticket = 1
login/create_sso2_ticket = 0
5. Restart SAP R/3 system.Hi,
I faced the same problem when i am configuring the SSO,
check the portal client number in System Administration>System Configaration->UM Configuration--->Direct Editing
and give the same client number
In the dialog box that appears,
system ID :J2E
client :000
else check weather u r importing the certificate correctly.
First export the verify.der and and import that using the STRUSTSSO2

i have web application on JHeadStart with FORM based auth.

Issues with J2EE engine memory settings.
Hi SDN!
I've got Web AS server 7.0 (Java only) on laptop for development use. Laptop has 2 GB RAM and 1,83GHz Core 2 Duo CPU
I have several issues with Java Engine.
1)J2ee instance Settings.
For Instance:
- "Message server & bootstrap" node
- max heap size: 256
- "Servers general" node
- max heap: 1024
-Xmx1024m
-Xms1024m
-XX:PermSize=256m
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m
For Dispatcher:
- "General" node:
- max heap size: 170
-Xms170m
-XX:NewSize=57m
-XX:MaxNewSize=57m
- "Bootstrap" node:
- max heap: 256
For Server:
- "General" node:
- max heap size: 1024
-XX:MaxPermSize=256M
-XX:PermSize=256M
-Xmx1024m
-Xms1024m
-XX:NewSize=171M
-XX:MaxNewSize=171M
- "Bootstrap" node:
- max heap size: 256
When I turn debug mode on for server via config tool, I've got 503 error and message "SAP WebAS Engine is starting... Message: Dispatcher running but no
server connected!" but in SAP mmc server instance looked like started (green color).
Windows Taskmanager shows me that 2GB total memory and near 600 MB of memory free.
Also I'm confusing about these nodes ("general", "bootstrap") with similar parameters and don't know which parameters I should set up according to note
723909.
2) I need to modify Java applications, build, deploy to local server and debug it there. Also may be ABAP debug will be used. Please give me information
about optimised engine (and, if needed, NWDS) settings for these tasks.
Help will be appreciated.
Regards, LevIn general terms, the bootstrap process is what is used as java is starting up and pulling objects into memory. The heap used for the bootstrap process (I believe) is returned to the system after startup.
The server process is where the Java application server applications are so it will require the most heap.
Does that help? -
Port issue with j2ee engine, http service provider
hi gurus,
on two of our standalone j2ee servers, the j2ee engine is up and running fine. from the mmc everything shows green including messager server.
but when i connect to the j2ee page using browser either from the client machine or on the server it never gives me an error message but the status bar keeps processing. never throws any sort of dispatcher or 500 error messages.
There were some GRC-Virsa components deployed over the weekend not sure if that had changed something.
After intial research the port information in the HTTP service provider showed 80 for http and 443 for ssl (https)so i had manually changed it to 50000 and 50001 from config tool respectively , restarted the server.
After the restart the j2ee page came up and the very second http request it goes to the loop again with no error message, whats the reason behind this sort of behavior. i have made the port changes over the whole cluster and restarted.
surprising it works only for the first time after restart, the very second http request never accepted by dispatcher/server process , no error message though.
environment, nw04s with plain j2ee, windows 2003, sql2008
please assist.
-durgathanks sean for responding, infact the issue is resolved yesterday.
Reason due to insufficient application threads and make sure the right port defined in HTTP service provider. So fixing these two things resolved the issue
Thanks,
Durga
