J2ME with camera Resolution of 640x480

Does anyone know how to direct access the camera on your mobile phone. My camera supports 640x480 and 320x240.
I have the camera program working already but that only takes a snapshot of the size of the phone display. Need the J2ME to take a picture with higher resolution.
Does anyone know if J2ME can do this. any little snippets of code.
Thanks
Martin

Sorry for the delay in getting back. I was looking on the internet for tht code.But i heard somewhere that code only works for nokia phones. What phone do you have currently that this piece of code works on. When i run it on my motorola phone with a vga camera it just says could not create image. I use that code and put it contents into a byte[] array.Then try and make an nimage from that.
this bit of code works for me but it only gives me a 172x144 resolution
videoControl.getSnapshot();when i put this code in it cannot take a picture.
videoControl.getSnapshot("encoding=jpeg&width=640&height=480");the highest resolution on my phone is 640x480 and it is vga. Maybe that is a problem.i need to get a phone with a higher megapixel.
what phone are you using at the moment that this code works on.Does it have bluetooth also.
thanks
Martin

  • Problems with camera resolution...

    Hi everyone,
    I've acquired a security cam to test a video-chat with FMS2
    and encounter a problem with the resolution of my cam. It's a CPcam
    CPC371P and It is said to have a resolution of 510*492 (certain
    sites speak of standard resolution?).
    I wrote two simple applications, one to send the cam stream
    and one to receive it, here is the code of both my applications :
    Send.fla:
    var my_nc = new NetConnection();
    cam = Camera.get(IndexCam);
    cam.setQuality(0,80);
    cam.setMode(510,492,15,false);
    my_vid.attachVideo(cam);
    my_nc.connect("rtmp://server.no-ip.org/tchat_cam/");
    ns = new NetStream(my_nc);
    ns.attachVideo(cam);
    ns.publish("webcam","live");
    receive.fla
    var my_nc = new NetConnection();
    my_nc.connect("rtmp://server.no-ip.org/tchat_cam/");
    ns = new NetStream(my_nc);
    my_vid.attachVideo(ns);
    ns.play("webcam");
    As you can see, nothing really complicated. The applications
    work perfectly but no matter the resolution I choose, the image
    seems to be extrapolated and pixellised. I tried 512*384,
    510*492(supposed to be the cam res) and 240*160.
    In any case, the image quality is still really poor...
    If anyone could help me on this, Is it a problem with the
    camera, I may have forgotten an option in my stream ???
    Thanks in advance.
    Guaca666.

    After many tests, trying many different resolutions, It seems
    that It can't go beyond a resolution of 510x480...
    Does anyone know if it is the maximum res of a Stream or if
    there is an option to outpass this problem ? It may be the cause of
    the poor final quality of my video as the camera native resolution
    is 510x492...
    If anyone could help me, it would be a great relief... :)

  • Windows Phone 8.1 (Sliverlight and Win RT) - How to get accessible camera resolutions?

    I would like to ask, how it is possible to get all accessible camera resolutions in Windows Phone 8.1 app (for both silverlight and WinRT). I wanted to use:
    Windows.Phone.Media.Capture.PhotoCaptureDevice.GetAvailableCaptureResolutions(
    Windows.Phone.Media.Capture.CameraSensorLocation.Back);
    But I am getting message that namespace Windows.Phone.Media.Capture is obsolete and may not be supported from next version of Windows Phone starting with Windows Phone Blue and that I should use Windows.Media.Capture instead. However Windows.Media.Capture
    does not allow me to get accessible camera resolutions, so I would like to ask, how to solve this.
    Thank you.

    Here are the official informatiosn about the camera in general:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh202973%28v=vs.105%29.aspx
    Than, back to your Question. You should use this classes instead, because they are modern:

  • PDFs are low res even with Fixed Resolution deselected

    Motion 5.0.6
    I am working on a project with a single pdf file imported from Illustrator. There are no other layers in the file, the pdf has no filters applied and Fixed Resolution is selected off. Render is set to Full resolution and Quality to Normal. For some reason the image displays in low resolution when I zoom in. Any ideas? Thanks.

    When no camera is present, you simply scale the PDF image, or you can manipulate the Position.Z paramater.
    Fixed Resolution is Motion's way of keeping the brakes on a file that has potential for unlimited resolution. It's a safety net designed to keep performance reasonable.
    When a PDF is imported, it comes into Motion with the document dimensions with which it was created, and Motion will render it on the canvas with those dimensions and set the resolution of the image with those dimensions. As long as Fixed Resolution is checked, it will be treated as a standard image even though it might contain vector shapes.
    You have the option of unchecking Fixed Resolution, which will unleash your PDF on Motion and possibly affect the performance of the application (PDF vectors can consume huge amounts of video RAM especially when scaled to very large sizes.)
    Another way to go, without unchecking Fixed Resolution is to change the dimensions of the PDF document, and Motion allows you to do that from within the application.
    Below is a PDF I imported. Note the dimensions of 298x278:
    (The Media tab is selected and the PDF layer is also selected -- then in the Inspector, the Media tab is where you'll find these controls [along with the Fixed Resolution checkbox... for those who might not know how to get to it])
    Scaling the image greater than 100% in the canvas will result in softening of the image (like any other plain image) with fixed resolution on.
    Below, I have modified the Fixed Width and Fixed Height (dragging one will automatically change the other based on the Pixel Aspect Ratio setting.)  In this example, I have reset the Fixed Width to 2000.0.
    I can now resize (scale) my PDF up to the dimensions I have set with Fixed Width/Height -- with Fixed Resolution still on, and still maintain a pristine vector appearance of the image (as long as the Canvas view is at 100% or less).
    It still limits the PDF vectors to reasonable limits and allows you to get the smooth line appearance you expect from vector shapes.
    PS - You could even take advantage of the Fixed Resolution degrading the image as it gets "closer" in view by tweaking those parameters to create the illusion of losing focus.

  • Nouveu_XFCE4_Strange problems with screen resolution

    Hallo to all the people out here!!!
    I'm quite new to linux. I've been using Ubuntu and Mint for sometime but I decided to switch to Arch, since I decided to have more control over my machines. Before I go on I must clear out that most of those machines are build from old spare items.
    in the current machine I'm using nouveau driver with a xfce4 desktop, but I'm unable to set the resolution 1280x1024 to work properly, which I'm almost sure that my screen is capable of.
    I managed to set the resolution to 1280x1024 after I manually added new xrandr mode, but there were various strange problems:
    1. Windows or panels that were at the bottom of the screen tend to disappear?!
    2. In the log in screen (I'm using SLIM)can not see what I type
    More than this:
    The screen changes resolution during boot
    There's a strange sound like flick of a switch every time the resolution changes
    I've searched for similar problems but found nothing close to mine, and get more and more confused and i think i'm gonna mess everything up...
    Thanx in advance for the help!
    These outputs I think that will be useful :

  • How to make Image/size/resolution agree with metadata resolution?

    After scanning the help file a bit and searching thru this forum a bit with `metadata resolution' as search criteria, I'm still pretty confused about how it is supposed to work.. I may have never actually found the right part of the help file.
    Cutting to the chase: How can I make the resolution reported by the metadata tab for resolution agree with what is reported inside photoshop at Image/size resolution.  I didn't see any way to set how res is reported in bridge.
    I see many pictures reported in metadata as 72 ppi for resolution and  reported in photoshop as 200 pixel/inch
    They do BOTH mean pixels per inch right?  If so, or really even if they don't how can I get the two reports to show the same resolution?
    There are too many processes that depend on knowing res in advance of opening a file for that to be so far divergent.

    Jingshu Li wrote:
    Some JPG or Tiff with Camera raw settings will be opened in ACR firstly when you double click them. In ACR workflow option (the bottom in the ACR dialog) the resolution value isn’t same with that in Bridge (metadata panel). If you go ahead to open the image in PS by clicking ‘Open Image’ button in ACR dialog and then check the image size from Image -> Image Size in PS, the resolution will be same with ACR (actually it is changed by ACR).
    If disable ACR support for JPG and Tiff in Bridge (Open Camera Raw Preferences in Bridge and choose ‘Disable JPEG support’ or ‘Disable TIFF support’ for ‘JPEG and TIFF Handling’), JPG or TIFF files will be opened by PS directly and the resolution matches between Bridge and PS. I believe this is an ACR bug.
    So what file types are you using and if they’re opened by ACR firstly in your workflow?
    The files are *.jpg.   But I don't see where camera raw comes in.  These are common jpg files.  I'm opening them by double click in bridge.
    Any way I did disable jpg and tiff in the Camera Raw preferences as you suggested.  At Jpeg and tiff handling, both disabled. and restared bridge.
    However, I see no improvment.
    For example, a file reporting 72 ppi in bridge when opened in photoshop ... Images/size resolution reports 480 pixels/inch.
    There is obviously some kind of miss handling that has been done to these files for them to have such a high resolution.   I suspect they may have been handled at Walgreens or Walmart... or similar since I had something very similar happen to me once when I had a bunch of pictures developed at Walgreens and they cam back with resolutions like that, when I know the camera would have given them something way less.
    But I don't see how any of that should be effecting Bridges  inability to get the resolution right.
    Here is another example: some.jpg
    It appears that bridge is showing an unusually huge file size in inches, to account for the reported 72 ppi.
    Bridge:
    Size: ...............1.14mb
    Dimensions:.....1496x1064
    Dimensions in
    inches ............20.8x26.7
    Resolution: .....72 ppi
    ===========================
    Photoshop:
    pixels
    Width 1496
    height 2064
    Document size
    inches
    width  4.987
    height 6.88
    Resolution 300
    Do you have further suggestions?

  • Problem with image resolution with larger screen size

    I was working on Basic Lens Sample (Basic
    Lens Sample) for windows phone 8 App. In this the camera by default sets to default highest resolution.
    Just had couple of questions on this:
    1.) How to change basic settings like resolution,ISO etc.,in this app, because during initial settings
    it only takes default value and when I try to change that it throws an error. Also a code comment is written during initialization of camera to take only these default values. So when to change these settings and how?.
    2.) How to adjust resolution for phablets having 6" screen. Like when I run the code in Lumia 1320,
    the image resolution is not that good and it breaks. So how to adjust screen resolutions for catering different smartphones with different resolutions and screen sizes.
    Any solution or suggestions or snippets is very much appreciated.
    Thanks In Advance.

    Hello,
    For you first question, we can use
    GetAvailableCaptureResolutions method of PhotoCaptureDevice to get the available resolutions in device. That code sample returns the largest resolution by default, you just need to choose an appropriate one. You can find it in CameraController class in
    Models folder in the project.
    For you second question, I tested the sample in lumia 1320, I didn’t see the image broken.
    >> So how to adjust screen resolutions for catering different smartphones with different resolutions and screen sizes.
    You can get an appropriate resolution image and let the OS downscale it for you. You can find the support resolution in the following link. Go to Supported resolutions section.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/jj206974(v=vs.105).aspx.
    If you want to display the whole large resolution image in lower resolution device, I think you can use
    ScrollViewer control. Use Application.Current.Host.Content.ActualWidth and ActualHeight properties to get the device resolutions, and then you can know if your app is running on a lower resolution device.

  • IPhoto '09 Keepsake - Large or XL for my camera resolution?

    Hi all,
    Quick question, I've created a keepsake book in iPhoto '09 but am not sure whether to go for a large (11x8.5) or extra-large (13x11). I used a Canon Digital Ixus 50 for most of the shots with a resolution of either 2048x1536 or 2592x1944 (I have some of each in the book). Would I be able to stretch to the XL size book or could I be in danger of the pics appearing pixilated/low quality?
    Any thoughts, or experience with an XL size book with a similar resolution would be great
    Cheers,
    Michael

    Unless you are using layouts that have 1 photos over the entire page you shouldn't have any issues with either size. Even for the 1 photo/page the resolution will be around 180 dpi which should give you good results.
    My first camera gave me 1600 x 1200 images which I used in the first couple of large books that I ordered. Quality was fine. I didn't use any of the full one photo per page layouts.

  • Camera resolution limited to 352x288 in MAX

    Hello,
    I'm using an USB Camera with Directshow in Measurement & Automation Explorer.
    The camera is able to acquire with a resolution of 2592x1944, but in MAX in (Acquisition Attributes tab), the max. resolution available is 352x288.
    I've succeeded to acquire images with a resolution of 2592x1944 with the software provided by the manufacturer.
    So how can I set the resolution to 2592x1944 in MAX ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Maugan.

    Hello,
    I've tried to use IMAQdx in LabVIEW, with the "Grab and Attributes Setup" VI, but it doesn't change anything : I can't set the width/height of the camera et the video mode proposed are the same that in MAX (cf attachments).
    Any other solution ?
    I think it could be the configuration of the directshow driver, but I can't find any way to modify it.

  • Camera resolution for iPhone 5

    Hi, i have an iPhone 5 and i want to know if i can change camera resolution because some photos i did are 1280x1024 and i think is a bit too little for a 8MP camera. Please, help me!!!

    My iPhone 5 default camera has also stopped shooting 8MP ever, regardless of light level.
    The pictures are all 2048x1536 dimensions (3,145,728 pixels or just over 3MP).
    Should be 3264x2448 or 7,990,272 pixels = 8MP.
    Anyone know what's up with that?

  • Edit videos with a resolution of 1920x1200

    Hi,
    with Fraps I record videos with a resolution of 1920x1200. My monitor has this resolution. In Premiere Elements 11, I can only choose default settings with a resolution of 1920x1080. After rendering, the video is out of focus.
    How can I properly render videos with a resolution of 1920x1200 in Premiere Elements 11? Are there suitable presets to download? Or must I change the resolution to 1920x1080 for my monitor?
    Thanks
    x-dast

    I completely agree with Ann. PrE is designed to only work with standard video camera Frame Sizes.
    Premiere Pro (about 6x the cost of PrE) CAN work with Custom Frame Sizes.
    Now, if one does not need every pixel in the vertical, i.e. 1080 vs 1200, then the 1920 x 1080 Frame Size will naturally, effectively crop off the extras. Initially, that effective cropping will be both top & bottom. One can adjust the Fixed Effect>Motion>Position, to effectively crop from one, or the other.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Duplicating stream object to new stream with lower resolution

    Hi all generally I have a question, Is it possible for ams to split my original live stream to a new stream but with lower resolution, so i have two streams one with high resolution and one with low resolution?
    If not I how does it Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder do? I can steam up to 3 different resolutions from one camera object. Is it possible to do also from flash?
    I want to built a multi user conference application. But have some cpu usage  issues, so I need a additional lower resolution stream to use for the miniature views.
    Could You help me with this, any tips how could I do such a thing?
    I using rtmp protocol to communicat and adobe media server 5.
    Sorry if a similar thread was already published on this forum.

    Thx 4 the replay.
    So maybe I could do something like this:
    I am able to send two streams from one camera but they both have the same  resolution.
    Is there any way from flash app to send two streams from one camera with different resolution like FMLE does?

    I hope everything is going well and I apologize for my poor English. I am creating movies using IMovie’08 and sharing with IDVD. The final result that I get generating DVD is a video with bad resolution.
    I have recorded all videos in 1080i using a SR12 Sony handycam and imported to IMovie with this resolution. I prepare an IMovie project and shared by Media Browser using large size, that I know is a smallest size than 1080i.
    I set the encoding mode on IDVD to Professional Quality and generated a DVD. The result image’s quality on DVD is similar to a VHS tape! I generated 4 different DVD and tested all these DVD using different DVD players and different televisions and the result were always the same.
    Please, can someone inform me what I am doing wrong or provide me some tips to get better results?
    Thank you all in advance.

    No matter what you send to iDVD will be encoded as SD 640x480 "square" pixel content to a "720x40" rectangular pixel data matrix. In other words the best resolution you could expect would be half of what you started with and at the third generation of transcoding. (I.e., 1080i AVCHD => 1080i AIC/AIFF => 960x540 H.264/AAC => 720x480 (640x480) MPEG2/PCM.)

    If you are expecting HD quality on a standard DVD, then your expectations may be too high for this work flow. Using a more professional editor and/or burning as HD optical content may better suit your needs/expectations.

  • Change Camera Resolution

    Is there a way to change the default camera resolution? I know that you can change the resolution when sending as email. I need the photos taken with the camera to be smaller file sizes, but don't want to edit them after the fact.

    Sorry, you cannot. Feel free to send some feedback: [iPhone Feedback|http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html]. Some members on other similar threads have mentioned that an application called PhotoGene will let you take photos at lower resolutions. I cannot vouch for the application myself though.
