J3d 1.3 beta cant find Java Runtime

When i try to install Java3d 1.3beta it unpacks the installer then brings up an eroor box saying it cant find a java2 runtime.
I am using windows XP ,with J2SDK1.4-rc (It wont install with 1.3SDK either)
J3d1_2_3 and j3d1_2_1 will also not install with J2SDK1.4-rc they just seem to hang
but they will install with 1.3SDK.
Any suggestions much appreciated
jon

Hi Jon,
Java 3D 1.3 Beta 1 works perfectly on my machine.
(DirectX Version)
I am running Windows XP Professional
with J2SDK 1.4 final version.
Probably, the best thing you can do is to download
the latest version of J2SDK i.e. Version 1.4 instead of
using the release candidate (RC).
J2SDK 1.4 is available at: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/index.html
All the Best,
Kranthi.

  • Problem with JDK 6 update 5 - Error Message says cant find java compiler

    Hi i am a complete beginner to programming and i am having trouble with the latest java development kit. jdk 6 update 5.
    The problem is i have set the path and the program cant find my compiler.
    I have installed the latest java development kit 6 update 5 on my windows xp machine.
    I have created a simple program as shown below:
    class Hello
         public static void main(String[] args)
                   System.out.println("Hello from java");
    saved the file to my desktop as Hello.java
    I have set the path variable like so:
    Go to control panel then click system icon then click advanced tab then click environmental variables.
    Now in system variables the path is shown as this - %SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_05\bin;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\binn\
    I then add this to the end;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_05\bin
    This is the location to the things like compiler, applet viewer etc.
    No in the command prompt i type javac Hello.java and i get this error message:
    C:\> javac Hello.java
    javac: file not found: Hello.java
    Usage: javac <options> <source files>
    use -help for a list of possible options
    The jdk is installed properly im sure but it can find my compiler.
    What mistake have i made in setting the path because im guessing that is related to the problem?
    Could someone out there please help me?
    Thank You
    Rafeeq

    saved the file to my desktop as Hello.java
    C:\> javac Hello.javaC:\ is not the desktop!
    The jdk is installed properly im sure but it can find my compiler.Of course it can! It just can't find the file you are trying to compile, because that's not in the root directory.
    I suggest you make a directory C:\java and save your source file there rather than on the desktop. In the command prompt, enter cd \java to make it the current working directory and then enter javac Hello.java.
    @Pravin: The question is about compiling, not running. CLASSPATH has nothing to do with this problem.

  • Cant find java on my mac

    I have OS X 10.6.8 and can't find java on either my IMac and Macbook Air. Both have recently been in for major repair (harddrive replacement on IMac and processor replacement macbook air)
    I've been on the java website but it only seems to offer downloads for OS X 10.7 and later.
    Would appreciate any advice on what I need to do.

    If you have gone to the Topaz developer's site and see no update for Photoshop in Lion, then all you can really do is contact them to see if they ever intend to update it.  What verion of Photoshop are you using by the way?

  • Air extension in CS6 on Windows 8 can't find java runtime

    I loaded the air extension to Dreamweaver CS6 running on Windows 8. The AIR commands show up in menus but when I try to use them I get a message to load java runtime environment 1.5.0 or later. Java 1.7.25 is installed on my machine. Any ideas?

    Found an answer. A friend who has Java experience updated the PATH on my machine and now it runs just fine. The details of how to do it are beyond my comprehension.

  • Can't find Java Runtime Enviroment

    I'm trying to install Oracle 9i Database version 9.2.0 downloaded from OTN, in a Intel Pentium III, with so Linux Mandrake 8.0 with:
    glibc-2.2.2-4mdk
    binutils-2.10.1.0.2-4mdk
    gcc-2.96-0.48mdk
    jdk118_v3-glibc-2.1.3.tar.bz2 (also attempt with JDK 1.3.1_02 of Sun)
    and shared memory:
    # cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax

    but I have the following problem:
    The Oracle Universal installer it usually begins, but doesn't ask me for the path where is installed the jdk, it jumps directly to the selection of components to install, after selecting the components it produces an error "Java Runtime Enviroment not found" and end the Oracle Universal Installer.
    Somebody has some suggestion ???

    There is a file in ORACLE_HOME /oracle.swd.jre /bin/native-threads/ java

    I have not figured out the solution but I hope this information helps for some senior oracle users out there.

  • Can't find Java 1.6.0.23

    Firefox also crashes. I get error messages cant find Java 1.6.0.23

    You can uninstall and remove Java Console extensions, you do not need them to run Java applets.
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java#Multiple_Java_Console_extensions
    Disable the Java Quick Starter extension: Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions

  • HT5247 Where can I download a Java Runtime Environment that actually works on OS 10.6.8?

    Last week there was this security alert urging Apple users to get rid of a Java application. Since then I have issues accessing some of my regular websites. I need Java Runtime Environment for it, but cannot find it anywhere on the Internet. Where can I find Java Runtime Environment that actually works on Apple Mac OS 10.6.8?

    Run the installer.
    Then you can drag the various versions of Java into whatever order you prefer, or uncheck any you don't want used at all.
    As for your JRE question above, the last Apple Java update disables Java Applets and Webstart Applications by default to prevent the Flashback exploit from working.  There should be a checkbox to enable that in the Java Preferences application.  It's under the general tab in 10.7, but I haven't used 10.6 in so long I don't remember if it should be there or somewhere else.  It doesn't seem to be there in your screenshot...
    Of course, I'm assuming the "things you could do before" involved Java applets on the internet.  I don't recommend re-enabling this functionality, by the way.  However, it is your risk and your choice.
    Java application bundles and anything run from an IDE or the command line should still sork as expected.

    Consider going to a Windows forum
    (or better yet, to Microsoft's web site or to a local book store)
    and learning about Vista's "User Account Control".
    At least do a Google search on it.

  • Eclipse give following error :could not find Java 2 runtime environment

    When I try to start eclipse it is giving me following error could not find Java 2 runtime environment. It was working fine untill I installed a new verson of eclipse although I am not whethar that is the source of problem.
    When i give java -version command in command prompt it shows
    Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\CurrentVersion'
    has value '1.4', but '1.6' is required.
    Error: could not find java.dll
    Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.
    My java Home ,classpath , and path are all set as I say it was earliar woking fine.
    Please Help.

    I know this is a relatively old post, but some people can stumble on this page when doing a search for this problem.
    Anyway, I ran into this on my PC after I installed Sybase which had an older jre.
    Solution:
    1. Run regedit
    2. Look for Java Runtime Environment
    You may have to do multiple searches. Eventually you'll find one with the version number.
    3. Modify the value and change it to the correct version number. (in your case, you would have changed it from 1.4 to 1.6).
    This is much quicker than reinstalling Java every time installing something that uses an older version of Java hoses up the registry value.

    Netbeans 6.7.1 & JavaFX Can't Find the JRE classes (i.e. java.util.*) when the project is run (in Netbeans 6.7.1).

    Add all the jar's found in JAVA_HOME. This is VERY BAD - because netbeans projects are no longer portable!

    Can you post a link if this problem is already on the forum or is in an Issue/Bug trackers somewhere please.
    Thanks for Reading.

    Thanks for the reply, evidently you are onto something!
    My NetBeans 6.7.1 JavaFX project is using the "JavaFX SDK on Java 1.6 (Default)" Platform. When I take a look inside this (using Manage Platforms) I can see that the following is in the list of platform classes:
    C:\Program Files\NetBeans 6.7.1\javafx2\javafx-sdk\lib\desktop\rt15.jarI'm assuming that rt15.jar is the java runtime @ version 1.5, and indeed this does NOT contain the Java 6 ArrayDeque ('_Array Deck_') class.
    ahhughes@machine-114 /cygdrive/c/Program Files/NetBeans 6.7.1/javafx2/javafx-sdk/lib/desktop
    $ jar -tvf rt15.jar | grep "ArrayDeque"
    ahhughes@machine-114 /cygdrive/c/Program Files/NetBeans 6.7.1/javafx2/javafx-sdk/lib/desktop
    $So my question is, why? If this is the "_NetBeans JavaFX SDK on Java 1.6 (Default)_", then why is it using the 1.5 runtime? It's obviously using 1.6 at compile time... this just seems busted to me.

    Hi,
    You'll need the runtime environment for JDK 1.3 installed.
    Check wether the folder "C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3" exists. If it doesn't exist, go to
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/jre/download-windows.html
    Do download and install the jre.
    Hope this helps,
    Kurt.
