JApplet displaying too large in IE with JRE 1.5.0_06

In my html, I have defined my width and height as 856 and 600 respectively.
With JRE 1.4, the applet showed at the correct size. But I've upgraded to JRE 1.5.0_06 and now the applet is displaying at 1070 x 750 - that's an additional 25% for each dimension.
At the beginning of the init() method, I have tried doing:
this.setSize(856, 600);
this.validate();but immediately printing out this.getWidth() and this.getHeight() still report 1070 x 750.
At the end of the init() method, I repeat the
this.setSize(856, 600);
this.validate();code and the this,getWidth() and this.getHeight() now informs me of the desired 856 x 600 dimensions - but the applet is still visually too big on the screen.
Don't get the problem with Mozilla or Firefox - only with IE (v6.0).
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers,
James

This does not seem specific to one machine. I got thi crash once on my machine and I have customer complaints where they have reported this issue on several of their machines.

  • Attached images display too large

    when using mail in os 10.4, if someone sends me a message with pictures attached, they are at a size that you can see the whole picture when you scroll down in the message. if i forward that email to someone, the pictures display too large and you cannot see the whole image in the message. is there a setting for this somewhere?
    thanks

    Ah thanks, maybe I was experimenting with too small of pics!?
    Hmm, interesting...
    Mail will remebember the size and will automatically use it the next time you attach an image if you forget to manually change it back.
    And if the last setting was small, the menu may be there, but will have no effect since you cannot Scale up!
    Yes, it works only for downsizing.
    Also, it seems that if the pic is in quoted nesting the size setting has no effect!?
    On Mac OS X 10.5 and later it works regardless of quotation. If it does not on Mac OS X Tiger, it must be a bug that was fixed later.

  • Cid: images displayed too large

    I get a daily ModusMail spam quarantine digest. It has the following in its CSS:
    .qtrMessageImageCell
    width: 25px;
    The HTML has entries like:
    <TD class="qtrMessageImageCell"><img src="cid:Phishing.gif@Category"></TD>
    The first time a cid: image is displayed it has the correct size. All later instances of that same image are about 10 times too large.

    Our company really enjoys using the Muse product a lot and we are building our business online around it.  However, this image loading is a big problem for us.  With high resolution displays like Macbook Retina and Google Pixel it's important websites be crisp and high resolution.  While these machines are only a small portion of users online now it's a growing group and they are very affluent, influential, tech savvy and generally ahead of the curve.
    Muse is uniquely positioned to help us cater to these high end clients and also serve smartphone users and lower bandwidth visitors, as mobile is a very important channel as well.  Muse should have an option that allows me to include the highest quality images I can find and then serve lower resolution images to visitors on phones or mobile connections, and higher resolution images to high speed connection users on advanced displays.
    We build our whole website presuming Muse would optimize for this and our bounce rate is very high and load times are very slow right now.  Although we love the product this isn't just a bother, it's a mission critical problem that may cause us to abandon the product.
    To be fair we inadvertently made this worse by going with a very visual "infographic" style site and we have high resolution screens so we're making it look sharp for us.
    Now we're looking for ways to fix this quickly now without resizing dozens of images and also wondering how Muse handles this kind of rendering now and how that will change going forward?
    Thanks!

    Ps.  Would also be good if images loaded from top to bottom more and/or started out with lower resolution and graduated to higher resolution as I've seen on some sites (this may be browser)

  • Phone display too large to function

    My display is too large to fit my screen and makes it almost unusable to navigate. I cannot find a setting to fix this. Anyone run across this?

    Double tap with 3 fingers to un-zoom.
    To prevent this from happening again:
    Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom > OFF

  • Dual Monitor Issue: 2nd Display too large...can't adjust...web pages provide no scroll bars

    I have two (2) HP S2031 LCD flat screen monitors.  They functioned perfectly with my old 32-bit machine (now gone).  I have just purchased a new 64-bit Windows 7 machine.  There are no error messages, but if I open a web page on the right (2nd) monitor, it does not display correctly.  It's as if it is a little too large.  I've tried adjusting the image using the Nividia software and using the monitor adjustments without improvement.  It is difficult getting out of that window because no scroll bars (vertical or horizontal) present themselves.  I am connecting through an iogear MiniView KVM switch to DVi-D sockets (with the four pins).
    Is it a 64-bit driver issue?   I think not, because display #1 looks fine.  Could it be an iogear KVM firmware issue?
    I dug out the HP driver disks that came with my monitors and installed them.  After I did that, I realized these were a 32-bit installation.  Now the monitor resolution won't go back to the higher, recommended level.  I don't see the software installation on the "add/remove programs" listing.  I'd like to change that.
    BUT THE REAL ISSUE is that I need BOTH monitors to be able to display proper aspect independently.  Remember, I've been through both the Nividia adjustments menu and the built-in monitor adjustments menu and found nothing that worked so far.
    Please help if you can.  This is for my trading business and I need it desperately.

    When requesting assistance, please provide the brand and model name and/or product number of the computer in question. Without this information, it may be difficult or impossible to resolve your issue.
    Have you swapped the two monitors to see if the problem follows the monitor or remains at the same location??? Try that first... if the problem follows the monitor, perform a hard reset by unpluging the monitor from power then holding the power button for 30 seconds. If the problem stays in the same location, you know both monitors are good and I would suspect the KVM isn't passing the "EDID" data to the computer. Removing the KVM should will tell you if this is the case.

  • OS X 10.4.7 udates too large to download with dial up

    The Mac OS X Update combine for Intel based macs (version 10.4.11) is 330 MB. That of course is way too large for my dial up internet connection to handle. Where I live there is no other options . . . so my question is . . . what do I do. Is it possible to have the downlaod sent to me on CD by apple or something? Thanks in advance for your help and advice. I tried to check the apple web site and was unable to find an answer.

    I also have this situation and also tried to get this worked out a few months ago.
    You are screwed.
    I tried going into an Apple store, making an appointment with a Genius (which is the wrong monniker for those people), trying to get the data from another computer, waiting to see if it would eventually download, and a few other things - nothing works.
    The 50% of the people in the US with internet connections over 1MB do not seem to realize that the other 50% of us with internet connections under 512k (and no other options) exist.
    Software vendors now assume that everyone can get updates via the internet.
    People with high-speed internet don't seem to know how hard it is to use a computer when you cannot get OS, and application updates.
    Even the security companies have this all wrong. They want me to download files which are 10s of megabytes so that they can protect me from viruses and adware.
    I love installing a program I purchased in a store only to find that it will not run without some massive program that I can only get via download.
    FYI: I have PCs, Macs, and Linux. They all have this same issue. But, you can pay Microsoft to send you a CD of OS patches, updated apps, IE releases, and/or media player. While I do not like MS, they are the one software vendor that seems to give the low-speed internet users some options.
    Apple does not want to market to people without access to high-speed internet. Its was the number one design goal of iTunes and the apple.com website - if you don't have the bandwidth, then we don't want you here.
    They continue to add more products and features which are 100% dependent on a high-speed pipe.

  • The window displaying bookmarks is too large (suddenly happened with the new version). I can't figure out how to make the display smaller. Zooming out does not work on the bookmark menu display.

    I have version 4, just downloaded, and a Mac w. OS 10.6. 7.
    The bookmarks display (when I pull down "bookmarks") is much too wide. I can't figure out how to reduce the display size. The window is not persistent so I can't even get you a screen shot.
    Thanks, Sara

    It seems there was a change in Firefox 4 where the width of the drop-down is now determined by the length the longest bookmark name in the folder being displayed. Previous versions of Firefox would shorten a long name like that and add an ellipsis to signify the name was truncated.
    Sorry, I don't know how to change that other than to advise you to edit the name of that long bookmark name and make it less verbose. Just scroll down the list of bookmarks in that wide folder until you see the culprit, then right-click that bookmark and open Properties & edit the Name line at the top of that dialog.

  • GIF files (MIME attachments) in incoming mail display too large

    This happens only in messages I get from my service provider about msgs their Spam filter catches.
    They attach small GIF files to differentiate the kinds of Spam in the list, i.e. money offers, gift offers.
    The first time each image appears it's the correct (small) size, but subsequent lines have large pixelated displays of the same image.
    Main problem is that the large images on each line space out the lines in the Spam list so that it's a real nuisance to scan through. (I like to check it because legitimate msgs get caught sometimes.) My service provider doesn't know what causes this; it started after a recent software upgrade so I suspect one of my settings is wrong but I can't find which one it is.

    Same problem here - and we are probably using the same spam software.
    I had no problems with the emails I had been receiving with the MIME attachment images for 4+ months. Although another co-worker was having the same issues that you are describing as soon as we started using this new spam filter software.
    The only change I made today was a configuration on my Toolbar, the first I've ever made with Mail. It immediately 'broke' the images in my email. So it seems like some type of 'preferences' setting can't render or read the image after the initial configuration is changed.

  • Display Too Large

    Hi, i just got new 3GS phone. During exploring the phone, i have accidentally made the display large. Problem is i don't know how to go about to reduce back the normal display. Please advise. Thank you.

    Not sure if it had to do with a recent sync. But, "freaked out" can't come close to the panic mode that I was in. Like others, I had just completed a sync, when BAM! This forum has saved me lots of money on medical costs from anxiety attacks. Thanks TEAM for talking me down from the roof! Amini

  • HT201401 Display too large

    When I push the sleep button on the bottom of the face, the whole display is much larger than normal. How can I reset this condition to normal?

    Check Settings>General>Accessibility to be sure you don't have Zoom set to On.  (With it on you double-tap the screen with three fingers to zoom in and out.)  (Also, large button on the front of the phone is called the Home button.)

  • Bold type displays too large on some pages

    Bold italic type is displaying about twice the size that it should on two pages of an eight page site. (Type box also has plain italic.) I know what I'm doing, and have about 50 pages on five different sites, and these recent two pages are the only ones displaying wrong. Have html snippets from flickr with affected type boxes, but I have these on over 40 pages with no problems. I selected text and set all to correct size, but didn't help. What's going on?

    As an example, the "U S Coast Guard Station Ma'alaea" at the bottom right of the Map page is a span with a class "style_1". The html is...
    <span class="style_1">U. S. Coast Guard Station Ma’alaea</span>
    ... and the CSS...
    .style_1{
    font-family:'Arial-BoldItalicMT','Arial',sans-serif;
    font-size:16px;
    font-stretch:normal;
    font-style:italic;
    font-weight:700;
    line-height:20px
    Note that the font size is 16px - not 13px.
    If this is not what you chose in iWeb, you need to troubleshoot the application itself.

  • PLS-00123: program too large on 9i with 4200-lines-trigger

    Just ran into another problem:
    I work with Oracle 9i. I have a trigger with 4123 lines of code. And I get PLS-00123 when I try to create the trigger.
    I've read that since Oracle 8.x (I can't remember the exact version) a program can have up to 6 mio lines of code, but I get the exception after line 3297.
    Thanks for your help =)

    Ok, I'll try to explain everything as best as I can.
    Basically I have 4 tables. 2 of them are used to record the changes and 2 for configuration.
    The changes for a row will be saved as one entry in CHNGHIS_HDR an entry in CHNGHIS_DTL for every changed column
    CHNGHIS_HDR
         TLBID --- the id of the table in which the rows were changed
         ITEMCNT --- number of the rows that were changed
         TYPE --- can be N (new), C (change), D (delete), I (inherit) and E (inherit delete)
         HEADERID --- the id of the header which the detail belongs to
         COLID --- the id of the column
         COLNAME --- the column name
         OLDVAL
         NEWVALCHNGHIS_TAB holds the name of the table that should be tracked.
    CHNGHIS_TAB
         TBLID --- the table id
         TABNAME --- the table name
         ACTIVE --- is the CHNGHIS_COL holds the columns that should be tracked. If there are no entries for a table, all columns will be recorded.
    CHNGHIS_COL
         TABNAME --- the name of the table
         COLNAME --- the name of the columnIn the old version, our program inserted the necessary rows into CHNGHIS_HDR and CHNGHIS_DTL. But now they want to do it with triggers. And they want to be able to enable/disable recording no tables and columns.
    So every time an insert/update/delete is executed, I have to record these changes in CHNGHIS_HDR and CHNGHIS_DTL. The trigger has to check for every column if it should be recorded (entry in CHNGHIS_COL). And 180 columns in a table cause a lot of code =(
    At the moment I use this code for every column
    /* column EXTERNALORDERNO */
        if inserting or deleting or (updating and not :old.EXTERNALORDERNO = :new.EXTERNALORDERNO) then
            select count(*) into counter from chnghis_col where tabname = 'MATERIAL' and colname = 'EXTERNALORDERNO';
            if logColCounter = 0 or counter > 0 then
                colGid := getGID('MATERIAL', 'EXTERNALORDERNO');
                if inserting then
                    writeHistoryDetail(headerId, columnsChanged + 1, colGid, 'EXTERNALORDERNO', null, ''||:new.EXTERNALORDERNO, udpstmp);
                elsif updating then
                    writeHistoryDetail(headerId, columnsChanged + 1, colGid, 'EXTERNALORDERNO', ''||:old.EXTERNALORDERNO, ''||:new.EXTERNALORDERNO, udpstmp);
                elsif deleting then
                    writeHistoryDetail(headerId, columnsChanged + 1, colGid, 'EXTERNALORDERNO', ''||:old.EXTERNALORDERNO, null, udpstmp);
                end if;
                columnsChanged := columnsChanged + 1;
            end if;
        end if;@Peter: we have over 300 tables -> over 300 triggers. We decided to use triggers (and when I say 'we', I mean the head of software development). If the decision was mine, I would use Workspace Management. But hey, I finished school 1 month ago and I just work here to pay the rent when I'm forced to enter the army, so there is no chance that they listen to me ;)

  • I updated iTunes and iPad software and now the iPod function doesn't work--it just displays a large musical note with no controls or songs.

    Why does the iPod on my iPad not work after I updated the iTunes and iPad software? All I see when I touch iPod is a large musical note, no controls or songs.

    happened to me the first time i used the i pod app after the i tunes update.  simply back all the way out - (double hit the home button - the ipod app is one of those things that seems to continue to live in the multitaking bar).  When you restart the i pod app, it should dome back fine.  I do not think (but maybe I did) that I needed to do a full shut down - just fully close and reopen.
