Java 1.4.0_1 + Pentium4 + Widows doesn't work

I have installed Windows2000 and Sun JavaPlugin for IE 1.4.0_1.
Hardware: Motherboard ABIT BD7
CPU P4
RAM: 512 DDRAM 266
Chipset: Intel 845
Video: NVidia Riva TNT2 MX200
Any java apps crashes in exception at startup. When I load applet from
IE, java VM generates an exception and crashes IE to.
Command line:
java.exe -versionError occurred during initialization of VM
java.lang.NullPointerException
I repeate this situation on Windows2000/XP/98 (same hardware) and have a same
results.

Here's our solution (if one would call it that). We searched for SYMCJIT.DLL in the P4 machine and renamed it to SYMCJIT.DLL.OLD. I don't know if that was the real cause of the problem but there were issues noted in the past with that Oracle DLL and other versions of the JDK. Then, we attempted to install 1.4.1. It took forever, but we kept our eye on the processes and made sure we have nearly everything else shut down. It ate a ton of memory, then finished. After rebooting everything seems to work fine. We've tested compiling and running some simple java classes.

  • Xdofo attribute "widows" doesn't work

    Hi Gurus,
    I am working on an invoice report and need to make sure there is at least one invoice line on the page where the electronic signature is. I play with the xdofo attribute "widows", but it doesn't do the job, ie it didn't "push" an invoice line into the next page when there is not enough space for the electronic signature on current page.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you!

    This behavior is actually correct according to the beta spec, which says that this component always displays all the items - though a bug that "size" was accepted at all as an attribute on the tag.
    However: this is currently going to change for the final release. selectone_listbox and selectmany_listbox will support "size" as you'd expect. selectone_menu and selectmany_menu will not support "size" (and the tags won't contain "size").
    So, I'd either:
    - Leave your code as is, and it'll display right in 1.0 without change.
    - Use <h:selectone_menu> with size="12", but be ready to change your code for 1.0

    Adobe illustrator asks for Java SE 6 (a legacy installation) and won't run without it. The link to the legacy version at Apple goes to an error page ("too many redirects") Does anyone have a solution? Has something  changed recently. • Java - sleep in a for loop doesn't work (as desired)

    Hey all,
    I'm trying to get a draw animation when the mouse is released (after dragging an object to a set area on the screen) - hence I'm trying to do this via a for loop with a small sleep() delay. However it isn't working. The delay is there, but nothing changes until the end of the for loop and then you only see the final repaint() [i.e. instead of each iteration in the for loop]:
    // This program is concerned with this and the mouseDragged methods
         public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent e)
              for( int c = 0; c < xButton.length; c++)
                   if( xButton[c] >= xRandWeight && xButton[c] <= (xRandWeight+50) && yButton[c] >= yRandWeight && yButton[c] <= (yRandWeight+50) )
                        // Have an animation for the scales re-adjusting
                        if( c == 0 )
                             currWeight = (int)(scales.getWeight2());
                             desiredWeight = Integer.parseInt(b1.getLabel());
                             if( desiredWeight >= currWeight )
                                  // More efficient than putting this subtraction straight into for loop
                                  difference = desiredWeight - currWeight;
                                  for( int count = 1 ; count <= difference ; count++ )
                                       scales.setWeight2(currWeight+count);
                                       repaint();
                                       try
                                            Thread.currentThread().sleep(100);
                                       catch (InterruptedException in)
                                            in.printStackTrace();
                             else
                                  difference = currWeight - desiredWeight;
                                  for( int count = 1 ; count <= difference ; count++ )
                                       scales.setWeight2(currWeight-count);
                                       repaint();
         }Any ideas on how to fix this/meet the goal would be greatly appreciated :)

    My program isn't being written in SWINGFirst, it's Swing, not SWING. It's not an acronym.
    Perhaps you would like to tell us which windowing toolkit you are using, so that you can get better responses. Or is that a closely guarded secret? <sarcasm/>

  • Java 7.45 update doesn't work, even though I've enabled the add-on. Help!

    Updated to Java 7.45 and now it doesn't work in Firefox. I'm running Firefox 25 in Windows XP. Java works fine in Explorer, but not Firefox. Have enabled (Always Activate) in my Add-on Manager. Have re-installed and re-booted, un-installed older versions of Java - still not working. Help!

    Thanks cor-el,
    Yes, in the Firefox Tools/Add-ons Manager, the Java Platform shows as Always Activate.
    And the Java Console also shows as checked in Enable Java content in the browser (in the Security tab), as well as checked as the default Java for both Firefox and Explorer (in the Advanced tab).
    Other ideas?

  • I upgraded to Mountain Lion and now Firefox doesn't work, also it asked to install Java to run Adobe Illustrator

    I just upgraded my iMac from OS 10.7.5 to 10.8.3. Firefox was my default browser and has all my bookmarks. Now when I try to load a page, the content is all jumbled and doesn't display correctly. I just updated Firefox to 20.0 but it still doesn't work right.
    Also, the first time after upgrading, Adobe Illustrator wouldn't start unless I installed Java. Isn't that the program that should be disabled because of security issues? Or has that been resolved?
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    I think I figured out Firefox, I went under Help > Troubleshooting Information > Reset Firefox.
    I only have one account on my computer. Honestly I don't even really know how multiple accounts work. I've never played around with it. I already allowed Java - should I disable it?

  • Jar doesn't work while java work fine

    I have a similar but not same case as "Please Help, jar file don't work" that is on 4/20. My program works fine by java class execution, but when I put them to jar it generates NullPointerException. The program get data from separate csv files. The error I get by executing jar is quite same as when I delete csv files and execute java. Only one jar file involves. csv files are in the same directory as class files.

    I have looked every place I can imagine for a day, but found no answer. Since it works fine with java it should be with jar archiving.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    atmguy, thanks for sticking with this.
    I spend a half day again studying this.
    A new founding that is jar is getting csv files from outside of jar archive.
    My command to make jar is "jar cvfm MetricConverter.jar mym *.class si.au source"
    source folder has 4 csv files. and result is,
    added manifest
    adding: MenueMaker$1.class(in = 809) (out= 515)(deflated 36%)
    adding: MenueMaker$2.class(in = 699) (out= 472)(deflated 32%)
    adding: MenueMaker$3.class(in = 589) (out= 398)(deflated 32%)
    adding: MenueMaker$4.class(in = 1714) (out= 950)(deflated 44%)
    adding: MenueMaker$5.class(in = 667) (out= 436)(deflated 34%)
    adding: MenueMaker.class(in = 5168) (out= 2824)(deflated 45%)
    adding: MetricConverter$1.class(in = 349) (out= 247)(deflated 29%)
    adding: MetricConverter.class(in = 1068) (out= 677)(deflated 36%)
    adding: ReadCSV.class(in = 1459) (out= 913)(deflated 37%)
    adding: s1.au(in = 55708) (out= 44941)(deflated 19%)
    adding: source/(in = 0) (out= 0)(stored 0%)
    adding: source/csv0.csv(in = 543) (out= 254)(deflated 53%)
    adding: source/csv1.csv(in = 765) (out= 365)(deflated 52%)
    adding: source/csv2.csv(in = 340) (out= 191)(deflated 43%)
    adding: source/csv3.csv(in = 1004) (out= 497)(deflated 50%)
    Double Clicking MetricConverter.jar with the source folder in the same directory open the program even copying them to other directories. However, from desk top or my document doesn't work (seems to me space in the directory name?). Without source folder console shows NullPointerException at ReadCSV.. The program cannot find csv files.
    Another thing that is the program only works when manifest file has class-path : . and <cade> URL pickURL=getClass().getResource("./source/csv"+i+".csv");
    has ./.
    I tried making source.jar and putting index using "jar -i MetricConverter.jar" with "class-path: source.jar" in manifest, and use jnlp, but nothing works.
    You seems to me an experienced java programer. If you don't mind look this at www.mixvision.net/java/MetricConverter.jnlp, also I leave www.mixvision.net/java accessible for now.
    Thanks again.

    When I run the Java 1.4.2 plugin on Red Hat Linux 7.3, I get the following error when Netscape starts up:

    After that Netscape just quits. If I remove libjavaplugin_oji.so, then Netscape starts fine but doesn't have Java. Netscape 7.1 doesn't work with Java 1.4.1_03 on Linux either.

  • I did software update, now java in Safari doesn't work.

    I ran software update, now Java in Safari and Firefox doesn't work. How do I fix it?

    I already tried that.
    I am running OS 10.6.8.
    I did a "normal" software update (under the Apple icon).. didn't update the OS to a higher level, it's still 10.6.8. But now certain websites tell me that Java is missing or not working. When I go to the Java site, they say that you can only download the newest Java for OS 7 or higher... that Java is automatically part of OS 6 and should have automatically updated when I do a Mac software update.
    Java used to work. Now that I've "updated" my Mac software, it doesn't work. And there's no way to download and install Java (according to them).
    It's a never ending circle with no solution.

    Looks like you have conflict with your java home and you are running 2 different JREs. Keep the latest and try launching EM console again and post the exception if you get any.
