Java 5.0 Update 6- Problem Installing ?

Hi, My name is Mark, Iam a new member to "FORUM" Iam having technical difficulties trying to download, and install Java 5.0 update 6...my computor is using IE-6 browser. early today the Java 5.0 downloaded... and was trying to add the files needed for the program, when I received the following error message: " We encountered an issue while trying to automatically install Java software onto your machine". If you encounter an error. check the top of the browser (see image above) for a yellow bar that reads " This site might require the following Active X control: J2SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1 from 'Sun Microsystems,Inc. .Click the yellow bar and choose "install Active X Control..." to allow installation to proceed. However "the Yellow bar image never appeared on the browser page; ? I have been told that my XP windows Firewall or spyware protection software, I have on my computer, is 'causing the issue. However I turned off the firewall and shut the spyware program off... I again tried to install Java 5.0 (Update-6) however when the files try to load-up... it stalls,so therefore (installation Fails etc.) I tried to troubleshoot the issue with the alternative method: downloading MS-Java X 86 from a another internet site, and tried to install and run it...received this error message: "Installation Failed" -not a valid win 32 application" ...I hope someone here in this forum has the correct information -or- how to fix or resolve this issue ? Thank's

Hi again, I donot actually download the intallation package, the entire program setup is at the Java download site: and is installed on ones computer right at the website: a window appears that says "Java (TM) SE Runtime Enviorment 6 update 1 license and prompts me to either go with a typical setup or choose the custom setup. once I click Typical setup the process begins to install it loads some files and freezes up or stalls when it gets half way point(status)" Copy New Files" or near the end of it . When I know it has stalled completely. I close my IE-6 browser page and disconnect my Internet connection. A error message appears: as follows Error 1606. could not access network location http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/Get file/1.6 0_01-6/windows-i586/ja 160000.cab Again, I say this is a serious issue.... I hope someone has the knowledge or can direct me to a source ... who can help me get this resolved... Reguard's , Mark

  • 10.6.8 update combined - problems installing

    Hi all,
Currently having huge problems installing this update on my mac, have been trying for a couple of days now to get this machine back up and running again after I was told by the genius bar 2 years ago that after them spending nearly 900 pounds on new parts, that they "had no idea what the problem was, but could be something to do with the logic board". I finally decided to sell it, but as a parts and repair it will get £100 and fully working it could get a bit more, so it's in my interest to get it up and running again.
I am by no means a computer expert, but I know a few things and can normally sort problems out by just simply using search, but alas I have finally been beaten, and have come here to ask for some assistance.
After re-installing my macbook pro 3,1 (mid 2007) with it's original 10.4 tiger software probably 5 times before it worked, then moving on to 10.6 snow leopard which also took a couple of attempts, I am now completely stuck with no way to get this machine up to 10.6.8, so that I can make the jump to mountain lion. The software update program is either an absolute heap of dung, or my computer just won't have any of it. I have tried multiple solutions which I will list below:
Using software update to install the 10.6.8 combined update - Failed
Downloading the 10.6.8 combined update from apple support downloads - Failed
Deleting the library/preferencecom.apple.softwareupdate etc. files - Still software update Failed
Downloading 10.6.1 update and installing - Success after a few attempts
Downloading 10.6.8 combined and trying again - Failed
Downloading 10.6.2 update and installing - Failed
Now this is where I am at. I have downloaded these files both on the macbook pro itself, and on my windows laptop - then transfering them across. I have never been more frustrated at a computer in my entire life, and am about 20 minutes away from throwing this laptop out of the window onto a poor bystander below. If anyone has any solution - (and don't say reformat and reinstall the OS - I've already tried that), then it would be greatly appreciated!
I'll post the console message from my last install of just the 10.6.8 combined upate (without using software update) and if someone on here who can make sense of these messages can see a problem or offer a solution, then that would also be greatly appreciated, thanks!

There really shouldn't be any problem downloading that combo update unless you've got a very slow or flaky connection. And Windows doesn't play as well with Mac files as the Mac does with Windows files; who knows what Windows might have done to the update's file integrity.
You might also try downloading the file using another browser such as Firefox. And when you have the updater, reboot into Safe Mode and then run the updater. That way you can be sure there isn't third party software somehow interfering with the update while it's tinkering with the guts of OS X.

  • IPhone App Update - big Problems installing ITunes again

    Hello!
Yesterday I tried to Update to 4.02. ITunes loaded the big Update file with my small bandwidth within 1 hour. After that ITunes told me that the firmware-file was damaged. So I tried it again 3 times. The same.
I uninstalled ITunes, Quicktime, etc. Like a solution on the apple support website displayed. Then I loaded ITunes (64) again (I have Vista x64). The installer displayed that there is an error installing (without any idea what was wrong.
Then I decided to install my PC completly new. After that I installes ITunes again and got the same message. So I installed ITunes 9.0 what worked proper. I thought I could update via ITunes so that I finally have 9.2 installed.
The Updatefile was loaded, but after downloading the Updater sayed: wrong signature of downloaded file. ITunes will not be installed.
Has any of you an idea what this could be? The reason why I wanted to update is that my Iphone doesn't update any apps. It displays that I should connect via ITunes to get the updates.
Sorry for my bad english. I'm from Germany.

it seems that problem is with your computer,
and 'wrong signature of downloaded file' indicates problems
like virus infection, Bad Ram or Hard Disk, or bad internet connection.
so it's better to use another computer and other internet connection.

  • Java applet recompiling / updating applet problem?

I'm trying to teach myself how to program simple java applets. Anyway I have a weird problem....If I first create my applet with a background color of black and compile it, when I open my applet in internet explorer my bacground color is black. GREAT!
My problem is, is that if i change my background color to red and recompile my java code. Then close/reopen my applet with internet explorer the background is still black. My applet doesnt seem to be updating properly after the recompile.
I have This problem as well if I try to add shapes after the original compile, when I recompile and reopen my applet, my applet is still showing only whats there after the original compile. Any idea what going on?

    Sir,
Debugging applets in a browser is a real pain because it isn't reloading you class. You would need to shutdown your browser and restart it to see the changes.
Thankfully there is an easier way.. look at appletviewer.
    Sincerely,
    Slappy

  • Problems on install Java 2013-004 update on Lion 10.7.5

I'm trying to install the Java 2013-004 update on a 2008 Macbook with Lion 10.7.5.
I've tried several times from 'Software Update' and downloading the .DMG from Apple.
It always stops at the very end of 'Installing items', lasting less than one minutes. But it can stay in that situation for hours and never completes the installation. And since them I'm having problems with software like 'jdownloader' that uses Java.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello megapauer,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
Java updates available for OS X on August 28, 2013
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5648
For a new installation of Java 7:
Download the latest Java 7 version from www.java.com/download/mac_download.jsp.
    Open the downloaded disk image.
Open the installer within and follow the onscreen instructions.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • Stability issues after installing the Java SE 6 update on Leopard

Hi, I have my macbook pro freeze once and not properly wake up from sleep twice after opening the lid within the last two days, and this started happening after I installed the Java SE 6 update over the weekend. In the case of freeze, I had to to a hard reboot. In the other two cases, the macbook comes alive after opening the lid but the display stays blank. I need to close the lid and open a few more times to have the display come back on. In all the cases, I was running Word 2008, which has its own set of bugs (esp. with the spaces), but I wasn't experiencing this before the Java update. I have all the other updates installed as well (including the Safari update last week, the latest Office 2008 update of March, and the EFI firmware update a couple weeks ago).
Does anyone have the same problem? Also, the jittery mouse pointer problem after wake from sleep, which used to occur occasionally since I first upgraded to leopard, seems to occur a lot more frequently now. The only solution to get the mouse pointer back to normal is a restart, which is quite annoying.

Hi again, I found a solution to the nested folders problem. Apparently this was not due to Java... It was just a folder replicating itself over and over again. Still don't know the cause, but searching with Google I found this:http://forums.macnn.com/54/unix/156870/nesting-of-folders-problem/
The command allowed me to find the folder and subsequently trash it. Everything seems to be fine right now. The disc utility does not report the "exceeded the recommended limit of 100 " error.

  • Java does not update older version when installing from MSI file

I'm using an MSI file of Java because it's easier for deploying through SCCM. Anyway when I do everything works fine except it does not update older versions of Java. So for instance if I have Java 7 update 7 and install Java 7 update 21 using the MSI file I'll then have two versions of Java installed on my computer. Anybody know a way to install using the MSI file where it updates older versions of Java (as long as it's the same major revision) like the exe would?

Yes same problem here. I had a successful rollout with the MSI package and version 1.7 Update 17 on 1500 computers!
I packaged the Update 21 and on my first test-clients the control panel crashes when I try to open it. But the setup ends successful without any error code all eventviewer entries are successful and it seems that the environment is running. Firefox plugintest was successful.
Why doesn't offer Orcale the MSI files?! Since last year Java cost me o lot of time deploying Java. There is no update which you can release quickly because there are always bugs to deploy them.

  • I am having a problem installing the updated version 10.3.1.55 on my laptop.

I am having a problem installing the updated version of Itunes 10.3.1.55 on my laptop which uses Windows XP operating system. I have download the software from Apple's website and have successfully installed it. However, when I launch Itunes I get an error message "Itunes was not installed correctly" "error 7 (windows error 999)". I have uninstalled the software, deleted all associated files, and reinstalled the software, but I am still having the same problem. I did not have any issues with the older version of Itunes. Does any one have a work around for this problem, or how can I download the old version I was using?

    Hi all,
Sylonious, did you manage to sort this problem out? I have been experiencing similar problems. I think my problem was because I had many different versions of JDKs. I have done a complete re-install. I would be really grateful to you (and anyone else) for help with this problem.
I have re-installed JSDK1.4.2_03, set the "path" variable to "C:\JSDK1.4.2_03".
When I compile using "javac" I get an error saying "javac" is not recognised.
When I compile using "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin\javac Freq.java" no error is thrown.
Every time I try to run a java file, I always get the NoClassDefFound error. When run with the -verbose option, files are loaded from C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin - is this correct?
I have removed all previous references to java in the registry editor.
    Please help !
    Regards,
    Vipul

    Hi,
I found the "solution" to this problem on Microsoft's homepage: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971187
I discovered that if I removed the registry-keys from the old version(s) of java, then I could install the new version of Java.
I removed the the registry keys below (containg sourcefile references to the java source files on the locel computer) from the computers that had the problem, and afterwards I was able to install new version of Java.
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\4EA42A62D9304AC4784BF238120611FF]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\26A24AE4039D4CA487B42F83216010FF]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\4EA42A62D9304AC4784BF238120621FF]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\4EA42A62D9304AC4784BF238120601FF]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\8A0F842331866D117AB7000B0D510008]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\8A0F842331866D117AB7000B0D511001]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\8A0F842331866D117AB7000B0D610003]
What I do not understand is that the Java uninstaller did not clean this up by itself and why the java 1.6.0_13 not just overwrite these keys...
    I am closing this case.

  • Unable to install Java EE SDK Update 5

I am not able to install Java EE SDK Update 5. When I run the installer, I am able to get to the "Select Installation Directory" screen. The Installation Directory is I:\Sun\SDK. When I click Next, nothing else happens. I have attempted several times. I have waited for a while each time and nothing happens. The buttons at the bottom of the installer Back, Next, Cancel, and Help are not enabled at this point. I can click on the Browse button. I can close the installer, which is what I have to do each time. I have also downloaded the application again and tried it and the same thing happens. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Any suggestions?

    Start /w C:\Drivers\Software\Java\jre-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe /s /v"/qn ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 NETSCAPE6=1 MOZILLA=1 REBOOT=Suppress JAVAUPDATE=0 WEBSTARTICON=0"During the install process I receive this error:
Java update cannot be installed on this machine because the directory you have chosen to install is locked.
Please close and browser or application that is using the directory you have chosen for installation. If I hit the 'RETRY' button it continues installation just fine. Any ideas what is causing this error?
As a long shot I removed the JAVAUPDATE=0 but, it still had the same problem.
    TIA

I got the same problem when I was just doing a regular install. After struggling for a few days and following the idea that something else must be using an older JVM, I tried this:
I closed all the non-native windows applications. Some of these were running in the background. The culprit was Google desktop search!!
Once I closed google (by right clicking the icon and exit-ing), the Java installation process went smoothly.
I think this concept would work for you. It is either google desktop or some other application that is running in the background that is using an older JVM.

  • Problems installing Java 1.6

I'm having problems installing Java 1.6. I've run software updates several times and the Java 1.6 has not come up for me to install. Could someone please send me a link or other fix for this?

According to your profile, you are on 10.4.11? Java 1.6 is for Mac OS 10.5 - see here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL70
So, there is no "fix" - that Java update is for an operating system you do not have; therefore Software won't and shouldn't find it.

  • Java Update Cannot be installed, directory locked

When attempting to install J2SE SDK 1.5.0 on my WINNT4 SP6a sustem,
it appears to almost complete, and then, when Finishing Installation, shows
a Retry/Cancel window saying, "Java Update cannot be installed on this machine
because the directory your have chosen is locked. Please close any browsers or
applications that are using the directory you chose for installation", or words very
close to those quoted. Nothing else is running. I rebooted the machine prior to
    beginning the install.

I too have the same error after an systray auto update came up and I said yes to install v5.0 or something, and said the above locked message, I closed all apps, and pressed retry, didn't install.
I am running winxp with ALL latest windowsupdate patches.
At least microsoft installers don't have any weird problems like this, and I now dont know how to reinstall it, because it appeared from my system tray as an update notification.

  • Problem installing updates - proxy setting error

Every time I try to install java 1.5 updates, I get an error message saying "Installation cannot proceed with current proxy settings". I have referred to the installation guide which tells me that if I can get to the web outside my firewall my proxy settings are OK. In addition, there is nothing checked in my proxy settings in IE. I went through diagnostics with my ISP and they couldn't find anything wrong. I have tried to contact Sun but have gotten no answer. Anybosy have any ideas?

I solved the problem. Apparently Norton Firewall automatically blocks java SDK downloads. For anbody getting the proxy setting message, check your firewall settings. It does seem like Sun could give a more accurate error message.

    ISSUE RESOLVED
    in "C:\Users\mjs\AppData\Roaming\Sun\Java\jre1.6.0_07\"
    i found "jre1.6.0_07.msi"
i ran it and it installed fine
that still leaves the mystery of why the exe installer downloaded from sun wouldn't run
