Java 6 update 10 installation problem

I try to install the latest java software via group policy (assigned computer installation)but it seems to hang during the installation.
It keeps on displaying "installing managed software Java...."
When I take a look at the processes (using a different computer) I see two msiexec's and a msi4.tmp
When I end the msi4.tmp process the windows logon prompt appears.
I have enabled the windows Installer log but no log file appears in the temp folder.
When I just run the msi manually it installs fine.
I noticed that this update is a small msi file(1561KB) together with data1.cab, izma.dll and sp1033.MST.
I have included those files in the installation source folder and tried it with and without applying the sp1033.MST and my own transform file.
The previous java version only had an MSI files which was around 15MB. No other files. This installation goes fine via GPO.
Any idea what goes wrong? I tried it on a couple of test pc's.

Exactly the same issue here. We have deployed most recently Java 6 Update 7 though Active Directory with no problem. Previous versions were no problem as well. However when attempting Java 6 Update 11 we experience the hang just as described. We have to disconnect the network cable, reboot the machine and let it get past this point, plug the network cable in and then log in and check all services that may have not started. REAL BIG PAIN.
I do have some java-install log files.
The contents of java_install_reg.log follows (I have one more java_install log that I will put in a new reply to avoid confusion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Actually there is a limit of 5000 characters so I may be unable to do this.

    it seems that you have not uninstalled the previous entire installation. You can clear all installation manually. first, you need remove all information about your previour installation in "/var/sadm/install/productregistry" file, and then deleted the previous installation directory , now suppose you can reinstall it successfully again, good luck!

  • LiveCycle ES Update 1 Installation problems

    Hello,
    Could you please help me with an installation issue of the LCES.
    My Environment
    Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
    Preconfigured JBoss-4.0.3.SP1 from Adobe
    MS SQL Server 2005

    After JBoss configuration I was trying to do a manual deployment of main ear archives and Ive got several exceptions and warnings to server console:

  • Java 6 Update 12 Installation Error

    I had been trying to install update 12, and I would get an error stating that the wizard was interrupted before the update could be completely installed when using the offline installer, and if I try the online installer, I would get Error 1327. Invalid Drive G:\. I've been attempting to use solutions online, but none have worked yet.

    Yeah, my users are also quite happy about the new Java quickstarter, as well as the new plugin.
    With the old one it sometimes teared down the whole browser, but the new one seems to be rock solid.
    Good job, thanks for the long awaitend improvements :)

  • Java Plug-in linux installation problem

    Hi!
    I am new to this subject, but I want to comment that I have problems installating the java plugin into my netscape 7.0 for Linux. My platform is Red Hat Linux 7.3.
    I have followed the instructions written in
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/install-linux-sdk.html#install-pkg
    but I still found that the plugin is not installed. (i.e when I open a web page that
    requires java plugin I still see a window saying "this page contains information type
    (application/java-vm) that can only be viewed with the appropiate Plug-in..")
    and also as confirmation the web page:
    http://wp.netscape.com/plugins/manager.html
    checks that that it is not installed the plugin.
    Would anyone please help me?

    You posted a problem that would be answered better and faster in a Linux or Netscape forum.
    You posted an installation question to "New to Java...", ignoring the fact that there is an "Installation" forum where you're more likely to get an answer.
    You posted a question that has, in fact, been answered in these forums already. You didn't bother to use the "Search" function. Try "plug-in linux install", and check out the first page of results.
    You posted a note, and waited FOUR WHOLE HOURS before whining that nobody's helping you. I'm amazed at your display of patience and understanding.
    Hint: this is a volunteer forum, inhabited by random Java developers. People answer when and as they have the time or inclination. Nobody here is getting any kind of return from responding. Nobody here owes you ANY response, much less an immediate one.

  • Sun one studio 4 update 1 installation problems with windows me

    Hi guys!
    I tried installing the cobundle on a Windows ME platform and it always get stuck whenever the progress bar is at 99%. When I try doing the long method (install JDK and then the IDE), installing the JDK is fine but the installation of the IDE gets stuck whenever it looks for a suitable JDK.
    What would be the problem here? Any form of help is highly appreciated.
    Chipi.

    I have the same problem during installation on my home machine. the computers at school installed them with the same files i am using the files are ffj_ce_win32.exe and the sdk is versioned 2.11.15.0 according to the file. I am using ME at home (i know its crap but XP is just as bad in certain areas) and the school machines are using windows 98. I can't think of any differences other than that. I have reinstalled the SDK and the IDE several times but I do not know what to do. changing OSes is out of the question but reinstalling it is not.

  • .DMG, Software Update, & other installer problems. Mediakit problems?

    Almost anything that installs something, or as the logs say, anything that uses the
    mediakit library. That means disk utility, system profiler, software update, diskimagemounter, and more. I don't have another computer with the same OS version, or i would already have tried copying over mediakit from that.

    Hi Ticamai, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    Get Pacifist...
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
    Run it, insert your Install DVD, search & extract the components you need & install the PKG!
    If the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

    Just be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings.

    Can anyone help me to remove this old java freebie and then set the environment variables so that java works for any user logged in.
    thanks
    Naresh

    First you need to uninstall java from the system. NOTE this can be done before or after the Sun install. To find the packages to uninstall use
    rpm -qa | grep 'gcj\|java'Then use rpm -e to remove the packages.
    For RedHat 9.0 (2003-09-03 disc1.iso) the following will remove java entirely. NOTE the order is important as the packages are interdependent.
    rpm -e jdkgcj-0.2.3-5
    rpm -e gcc-java-3.2.2-5
    rpm -e libgcj-devel-3.2.2-5
    rpm -e compat-gcc-java-7.3-2.96.118
    rpm -e compat-libgcj-devel-7.3-2.96.118
    rpm -e compat-libgcj-7.3-2.96.118Once this is done setup the env vars to find the Sun jdk. I prefer to create a file
    /etc/profile.d/java.sh(and/or .csh if csh is your thing) as I feel this is cleaner than editing profiles directly. The contents should set up the JAVA_HOME and PATH. For example for the 1.4.2_01 release the following will work.
    export JAVA_HOME="/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_01"
    export JDK_HOME="$JAVA_HOME"
    export JAVA_PATH="$JAVA_HOME"
    export PATH="$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin"All info should really be part of the Sun docs.

    Also I wanted to know if I uninstall the J2SE and then install only J2EE will that be fine.Because I believe J2EE is a superset of J2SE ?
    Thanks in advance.

    For the difference between Java EE and Java SE read here:

    For the installation problem, I dont know how to help you... maybe here you can find some ideas:

  • Java 6 update caused problems

    Hi,
    I installed the recently released Java 6 in G5 (PPC-base MAC) and Leopard 10.5.8.
    After I did it, I realized that the update is only for intel-based MAC.
    But there was no warning message during the installation, though.
    I got many problems on java side for using Eclipse java and MATLAB.
    I checked that the default Java is shown to be 1.5 in Java preference app and "java -version", but installation tweaked some system files, which causes all these issues.
    Is there any way to go back to the status before I did the java 6 update?
    I would greatly appreciate it if some of you could suggest some possible ways to tackle this problem.
    Thanks,

    Restore from your Time Machine backup. Alternatively, don't do anything because release 5 was for any machine running 10.5.8 according to http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/javaformacosx105 update5.htmland since I installed it on the G4.

  • Installation problem oracle 11g R2 on oracle enterprise linux 5 update 5

    hello support,
    i've installation problems with oracle 11g R2 on oracle enterprise linux 5 update 5. In the section "ORACLE Net-Konfigurationsassisten" the failure "[INS-20802] Oracle NET-Konfigurationsassistent not success". What's wrong? I've followed the instructions on http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/smiley-11gr1-install.html
    I've heard the problem can occur with problems in /etc/hosts? My /etc/hosts is configured:
    # Do not remove the following line, or various programs
    # that require network functionality will fail.
    127.0.0.1          oracle localhost.localdomain localhost
    ::1          localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
    is this ok? what can I do to bring the database-installation to success?
    Thank's for help ;-)

    Here I paste you the configuration of my latest linux box which has a similar environment like yours.

    # cat /etc/hosts

    127.0.0.1     localhost  localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4

    NETWORK=192.168.1.0
    NETMASK=255.255.255.0
    IPADDR=192.168.1.205
    #Thanks to your post I noted that the hostname consist already of my domain entry. Try your configuration first without domain entry. It should look like:
    # hostname
    vmrhel6032
    # domainname
    (none)
    # cat /etc/hosts
    192.168.1.205 vmrhel6032
    127.0.0.1     localhost  localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
    ::1           localhost  localhost.localdomain localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6

    NETMASK=255.255.255.0
    IPADDR=192.168.1.205
    #Otherwise use the first example and don't forget to restart your server resp. the network service. ;)

    Java 6 you can't as Apple maintains it, and Java 7 you could if you uninstall it and Oracle provides the earlier version which they likely won't his last update fixed 37 remote exploits.
    Java broken some software here and there, all you'll have to do is wait for a update from the other parties.
