Java Application + Uploading Files

Hey everyone,
I was wondering what the possibilities were if i wanted to implement a feature
in my java application to upload an image file and an XML file. Is this possible? Does anyone know more about the subject? Thanks.

Is your application the client (which will be uploading to some other computer) or is it the server (which will be uploading from some other computer)?

    Hi,
    I was wondering if it is possible to
    a) read a file that is on a different unix server to the one that my java application is on
    b) move a file from one directory on the remote unix server to another directory on the remote unix server
    Regards,

    for (b):
    If I were you I would set up a FTP account for your app on the remote unix server. Then I would get my hands on a simple ftp framework
    and simply:
    Ftp ftp = new Ftp("UNIXHostIP", username, password);
    ftp.connect();
    ftp.moveRemoteFile("form here","to here");
    ftp.disconnect();
    some frameworks:

    Firewalls?
    make a folder that is public on the unix server-ie falls outside the firewall if there is one (fire walls might cause problems for you)
    Unless you know the password to get through the Proxy then this should not be a problem.

  • Temporary Internet Files in Java Application

    Hello,
    I would like to know how to use "Temporary Internet Files" in a Java application.
    When I make a Java Applet that fetch some internet files and launch it from internet browsers,
    the fetched files are cached in "C:\Documents and Settings\***\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0"
    as "Temporary Internet Files". However when I launch it from Applet Viewer in eclipse or use the
    fetching code from a Java application, no files are cached in the directory.
    Is it possible to enabling cache with a Java application?
    Here is the test code I used.
    final String USER_AGENT = "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)" ;
    String urlString = "http://www.abysse.co.jp/japan/pref/images/hokkaido4.jpg";
    URL url = new URL( urlString );
    URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
    conn.setDoOutput( true );
    conn.setRequestProperty( "User-Agent", USER_AGENT );
    DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(conn.getInputStream());
    byte[] jpgBytes = new byte[conn.getContentLength()];
    in.readFully(jpgBytes);
    FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("C:\\httpoutap.jpg");
    fos.write(jpgBytes);
    fos.flush();
    fos.close();
    fos = null;Edited by: mirror_j on Jan 28, 2009 12:22 AM

    This is not strictly correct. You can use LinkedHashMap for a simple cache, but its not a persisted cache so wouldn't be very useful for you.
    I suggest you look at using ehcache. It free and widely used.

    we are upgrading our system to Oracle 12i and we have a custom java application that access the Oracle API. As part of this upgrade we have to deploy our JAVA application packaged as an EAR file to OC4J that comes with Oracle EBS. All we need is sequence of steps/ some document that will help us deploy our JAVA application(EAR file) to OC4J server.
    1. Can we create another instance of OC4j in Oracle 12i(12.1.3)?
    2. Will there be any integrity issue if we deploy ear file to Oacore/Forms/OAFM oc4j instance integrated with R12? or Do we need to create a new instance?
    3. I was told by the support engineer that there is no EM console for oc4j integrated with R12, so is there any script provided by oracle to do any ear deployment?

  • Code for  File upload / down load from WD java application

    Hi experts ,
    I am creating a WD java application , I want to add Picture upload and piucture download ( from / To ) KM . I also want to specify the path ( where it has to be uploaded in KM ) and picture name . can i get any code so that i can use it in WD application .
    Regards
    Abhay

    First you need to make sure your web dynpro application has permissions to access the file in the first place, but you could use the standard java.io.File class:
    File file = new File("/path/file.sh");
    file.setExecutable(false);
    file.setReadable(false);
    file.setWritable(false);

  • File Upload from a desktop java application

    Hi,
    what I want to achieve is, to upload a pipe-delimited text file from my desktop java application to my hosting server, and then on the server, I have a PHP page that would parse this file and insert records to the database.
    so, on the server, I can enable write access on the folder which I want to upload the file to,
    but how do I upload a file from my desktop application.
    Thanks

    HttpURLConnection conn = (HttpURLConnection) _url.openConnection();this code open a http connection, and what is left is to fill in http protocol things (e.g. content type, content length, POST/PUT or whatever method...etc). after you set the correct request header then open a output stream and pass your files and flush the connection then close it.... in theory (never tried sending files, only done handling POST http form requests with it but it shouldn't be too much different when it is http protocol)
    you may want to install Fiddler2 into your browser, it can filter out the browser outgoing and incomign information and you can take a little read in their header and see how they interact with each other

  • Java Exception after File Upload while retreiving using Filepath

    Hello everyone,
    I am performing the following steps:-
    1) I am uploading a file from my local File system (D:/ a.XML) using FileUpload UI Element in Web Dynpro.
    2) In the OnActionMethod of the View, I am trying to get the content of the file using the Filepath (D:/ a.XML).
    But I am getting a Java Exception "No Such File or Directory" after deploying the archive and run on to the remote server.
    The Exception is  not a Web Dynpro Runtime Exception. But I am able to catch it in the try, catch block of the Java code.
    Do I need the file to be present in the server as well. What is the Solution? Please advise me about, where is the content of the uploaded XML file stored and how can it be retrieved.
    How can I retrieve the content of the file using a valid file path, because my method which will open the uploaded file requires argument as a filepath. Please suggest about this problem. I would be very thankful for your help.
    Kind Regards,
    Phani.

  • Remove link for uploaded files in application

    Hi all,
    I've been following the tutorial on how to upload and download files in application at http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32472_01/doc/appdev.300/b32469/up_dn_files.htm. I have now created my own table which stores the uploaded files and can download them successfully. I would now like to add the ability to delete these files within the application and was wondering what the best way of doing this was?
    I would like to add another column to the displayed report with a 'Remove file' link for each listed file, which when clicked would delete the file from the table. I've already tried using a similar method to the one used to upload the files (instead of uploading the file, the called procedure deletes it from the table using the specified ID), but this causes the application to display a blank page when the link is clicked, which I dont want (but does delete the file).
    I would appreciate any suggestions.
    Regards,
    Dave

  • How to call function in included dll file through java application.

    Hi All,
    i am trying to create an java application which call c# functions using JNI. i am completed with the code and it is running fine when i tried to run from netbeans IDE. But when i tried from Calculator.jar file, first time it throws this error:
    F:\JavaProjects\Calculator\dist>Java -jar Calculator.jar
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no CSharpClient in java.library.path

    at calculator.CalculatorApp.<clinit>(CalculatorApp.java:20)
    After that i included that dll file in the cuurent directory. And compiled and tried to run, it throws an unexpected error:
    F:\JavaProjects\Calculator\dist>Java -jar Calculator.jar

    Anyone have idea how to solve this error.
    Thanks in advance.

    This error is created whenever things go sour on the native side. The first thing you can try, and I assume you are using a Java<->C++<->C# bridge which includes two dlls, one created by C++ and another by C#. Is to make sure that the C# dll is compiled using /t:module switch during compilation.
    If you are using VS2008, or VS2005, you can add a post build syntax like:
    csc /t:module /out:"$(ProjectDir)$(OutDir)YourModule.dll" "$(ProjectDir)YourCSfile.cs"
    Hope this helps! If not, ensure first that the native code works by creating a native test app for it.
