Java class hierarchy generation tool ?

Hi, all.
I have a bunch of source files, but it is hard for me to look at the class hierarchy. Is there any tool which can generate a class hierarchy graph for me.
Any suggestion will be appreciated.

I have eclipse, but don't know how to do it.
Is it the "Generate Javadoc" menuitem under
"Project"?
Yep.

  • Class Hierarchy Visualation Tool

    Hi
    i have developed an application framework containing quiet a lot of classes. For documentation it would be great if there was a tool that automaticaly generates a visualisation of the class hierarchy.
    Does anyone here know such a tool?
    Thanks for your help.

    Javadoc does that; you can get to it from the "Tree" link
    in the navigation bar. I'm not familiar with other tools.

  • Create a class hierarchy

    How do i create a Java class hierarchy for my program. What are common classes that programs use that would be included in the hierarchy? Help would really be appreciated.

    ^^ that pretty much sums up how to do it
    but inheritance is basically the guts of java, super duper important concept to understand. So i suggest sitting down with a good java book for a couple hours, and completely grasp the ideas of inheretance, polymorphism, encapsulation .. all that good stuff.
    personally i like The Complete Reference books. i studied with them and they really do help alot

    Because, i am a java developper, i have choose Netbeans 6.1 to secure it.That has to be the most random thing I've read in some time.
    do you know how can i do to integrate my animation .swf inside my java class?Java can't play SWF files and Flash can't handle Java classes, so what you're suggesting here doesn't make a lot of sense.

  • XJC Tool - For building Java classes from Schema

    Hi all,
    I am using XJC tool for Building java classes from Schema.
    Can we have any other tool for generating java classes from Schema?
    Thanks in advance,
    typurohit

    Solved my own problem and forgot to post the answer: the "xsd:import" is also considered as a targetNamespace, so each xsd:import needs a package specified as well when using oracg. It would be helpful if the Oracle documentation had stated that, but it does not point this out.

  • Any tools for converting java class to xml schema ?

    Hi,
    Are there any tools out there that can convert my java class to xml schema. How such tools take care of java collections like HashTable, ArrayList etc. in my class structure. I am not interested in writing any configuration files(like jaxb configuration files, jibx binding xml files etc.) for serving this purpose and the can be able to give me xml schema from the java classes. Please suggest ...
    I am not sure even JAXB 2.0 allows me to do this without writing any jaxb configuration files or annotations in my java class which is not there in JDK 1.4.2
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kr.

    Hi,
    You can convert the EDI file to XML in any of the ways
    1) Using third party seeburger adapters
    2) Conversion agent
    3) Stylus studio.
    I think using java code it will be very difficult.

  • Generation of custom syncbo java classes does not work.

    Hello
    we created some new syncbo's for MAM 3.0 in the middleware and download it's correspond meRepMeta.xml.
    Now i will generate in the NetWeaver Developer Studio the manager and syncbo classes for our new custom syncbo's. I had create a new SmartSync-Project and deliver the meRepMeta.xml file, edit the package and some other things and start the project creation process. But after this, i have only an simple MI project with web.xml, meRepMeta.xml and so on, but no generated, custom syncbo's. In the documentation i couldn't find a detailed description for the generation of syncbo java classes.
    Can anybody help me, what i do wrong.
    Tanks a lot.
    Greetings
    Andreas

    Hi Kai,
    Just note these points..
    1)Smart Sync MI Applications (JSP Runtime) generated using SP 09v of Developer Studio is MCD specific.It is generating MCD specific files.This architecture makes the applications too complex during migration.
    2)In SP 09v applications, the developers don't have to code in Smart Sync API level as most of the codes are generated by default.
    3)Applications in SP 09v of Developer Studio is following the exact MVC Architecture(We can see the seperation of models, views and controllers here).
    4)Corresponding to the mapped fields (in SyncBo level), in the BO Wrapper classes we can see implementations of corresponding getter() and setter(..) methods.The names of this methods are totally dependent upon the names of fields mapped.So if there is change in the names of fields , in the case of already generated projects , we have to explicitly rename the getter() and setter(..) methods appropriately inorder to make the changes to take effect.
    5)For adding new JSP pages, we have to add references in many files(*.view). (we have to explicitly create the corresponding controller class file , map the relationship between the controller and the corresponding JSP file).
    refer this blog also..
    /people/kishor.gopinathan/blog/2006/05/29/smart-sync-application-development-using-sp-09v-of-developer-studio
    <<
    have to write the acces classes, mentioned in the MDK, manually for every new SyncBO I want to use?
    >>
         For that , we can write a generic method in such a way that , we only have to pass the syncbo name as the parameter for that method, so that it would retrieve the records corresponding to the syncbo given.
       Since the getter nd setter method names are closely related to the names of the mapped fields, this would create problems when we change the names of fields used in the table parameter or import parameter of the BAPI Wrapper used for syncbo creation.
    So using SP 11 , we can create generic applications, which can be migrated using the higher versions of NWD Studio. I think , SAP might not change this infrastructure anymore..

  • Xml To Java class generation

    Hi ,
    I want to get the java source file from my xml file dynamically ..Will any body guide me for that and provide the codes ..

    Hello,
    Are you looking to programmatically run something like the JAXB schema to Java compiler? If so you can leverage the main method on the following class:
    com.sun.tools.xjc.XJCFacade
    This of course assumes that you have an XML schema for your XML. If not you would need to find a way to dynamically create an XML schema from your XML document.

  • Generation of java classes from XML Schema.

    Hi All,
    I am working with JWSDP-2.0 but got stucked.:
    To generate Java classes from an XML Schema with the JAXB ,I need to have following jar file in thils location with this JWSDP-2.0
    <JWSDP>/jaxb/lib/jaxb-api.jar
    <JWSDP>/jaxb/lib/jaxb-impl.jar
    <JWSDP>/jaxb/lib/jaxb-libs.jar
    <JWSDP>/jaxb/lib/jaxb-xjc.jar
    <JWSDP>/jwsdp-shared/lib/namespace.jar
    <JWSDP>/jwsdp-shared/lib/jax-qname.jar
    <JWSDP>/jwsdp-shared/lib/relaxngDatatype.jar
    And here I m not finding as jaxb-libs.jar,namespace.jar and jax-qname.jar on respective location.
    If I m putting these left jar file from another place it is not generating all the classes as at least in number it should be 45 but it is generating merely 5 classes.
    Can any one help me regarding this.
    Regards.
    Shelly.

    These JAXB JAR files are for JAXB 1.0.
    For JAXB 2.0 the following JAR files are required.
    C:\Sun\jwsdp-2.0\jaxb\lib\jaxb-api.jar
    C:\Sun\jwsdp-2.0\jaxb\lib\jaxb-impl.jar
    C:\Sun\jwsdp-2.0\jaxb\lib\jaxb-xjc.jar

  • Converting java classes to an XSD, is there a tool?

    Or do I have to do this by hand. I was talking to someone who teaches this enterprise/webservice stuff and he said something to the effect that jaxb can convert my java classes to .xsd files, i don't see how this is possible (I see the other way, from .xsd to java classes). So did I just misunderstand him?

    thanks, I think he misunderstood me. I had done the .xsd files already, and he said I did to much work and there is programs out there to build them for me. It all came up in conversation cause I was curious if I had even built my .xsd files (cause my resulting web service is running oders of magnitude slower than when running my same code not through the web service) so I had just assumed I wrote bad xsd, code, or whathave you.

  • Ant or what tool to compile Java Classes

    For the past year I have been using Windows command window to compile Java Classes for my Servlets, Java Beans and Helper classes. I use Cold Fusion studio as my IDE for creating the Java classes. All of my Web Applications use MVC for Forms feeding small databases and I only have around 7 to 10 class files per Web application.
    Should I start to use Ant and/or what is recommended so I can keep up with current technology instead of using Windows Command Window to compile my Java classes?

    Try the following link.

    The download in the above link has NWDS and portal as well. Unzip the file and install NWDS studio.

  • JAXB - generation of extra java class.

    Hi Everyone,
    JDK 5, JWSDP 1.6
    My XML Schema is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
                   elementFormDefault="qualified">
      <xsd:element name="Participant">

              <xsd:sequence>

                <xsd:element name="FirstName" type="xsd:string"/>
                <xsd:element name="LastName" type="xsd:string"/>
                <xsd:element name="Location" type="xsd:string"/>
                <xsd:element name="RoleID" type="xsd:string"/>
                <xsd:element name="EmailAddress" type="xsd:string"/>
                <xsd:element name="MobileNumber" type="xsd:string"/>
              </xsd:sequence>
         </xsd:complexType>
      </xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>When I run JAXB I get an extra Participant.java class generated along with a ParticipantType.java class. Participant.java extends ParticipantType.java. Why is it necessary to generate this extra interface? Wouldn't ParticipantType.java suffice?
    TIA,
    Claire.

    probably, but using interfaces reduces the dependencies between client code and jaxb implementation, so as always, interfaces are a good thing.

  • Creating Web Service from Java Class-How to eliminate nillable="true"

    Does anyone know how to eliminate the attribute, nillable="true", from the element tags which describe the parameters in the WSDL created when creating a web service from a Java Class? It does this only for the string types. Is there something I need to set when creating the web service or before creating the web service? Or the only way is to modify this WSDL then recreate the web service from the WSDL.
    example part of wsdl:
    this is in the <types> tag:
    <complexType name="getData">
    <sequence>
    <element name="schema" type="string" nillable="true"/>
    <element name="table_or_view_name" type="string" nillable="true"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    <complexType name="getDataResponse">
    <sequence>
    <element name="result" type="string" nillable="true"/>
    </sequence>
    </complexType>

    I did do this and I got the following error when deploying to the Stand-alone OC4j:
    Operation failed with error:

Impl class Method: getData declares exceptions not declared by the interface (java.lang.Exception)
    I am quite sure what it is saying. It generated the code for the Interface: dbdatapackage.DVDataWS. Impl class. Why would it not do it right? What expection is it complaining about? java.lang.Exception?

  • WSDL generated from java class - how to include headers?

    I am using the servicegen ant task and generating a web service based on a java class. I would like to include a username and password in the soap header and read that info using a handler. I am able to get that working, but how do I get the auto-generated WSDL to include the username/password header information? Is there something that I have to do in the handler so that this information is included in the WSDL?
    Thanks,

  • Introspection in Class hierarchy

    Is it possible to have something like this in TOOL/Forte ? I am trying to introspect an Object vertically on its class hierarchy and horizontally on its data members.
    public static String toDesc(Object obj, Class cls)
    Class super_cls = cls.getSuperclass();
    if(super_cls != null)
    spr += toDesc(obj, cls.getSuperclass());
    Field[] fld = cls.getDeclaredFields();
    for(int i=0; i < fld.length; i++)
    try
    spr += "\n<" + fld.getName() + ">" + fld[i].get(obj) + "</" + fld[i].getName() + ">";
    catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    return spr;

    What version of UDS are you using? There are some capabilities for querying classes and set/get values. Check the UDS Programming Guidelines.
    The UDS help states the following that might be helpful for you:
    "...Before you can use the AttributeDesc Get and Set methods for primitive types, you must determine whether or not the type is primitive. The following code fragment accepts an object and determines if the attribute type is or is not primitive. The example also deals with subclasses of DataValue because those classes have some generic methods. The example does not actually retrieve any specific values, but the comments suggest what could be done.
    method Browser.InspectAttribute(
    obj : Object, attName : String)
    begin
    cls : ClassType = obj.GetClassType();
    att : AttributeDesc = cls.GetAttribute(attName);
    typ : ClassType = att.GetType();
    if (typ.IsPrimitive()) then
    // This type is primitive. It can be retrieved
    // (and set) by using one of the Get/Set methods.
    pd : PrimitiveDesc = PrimitiveDesc(typ);
    elseif (typ.IsArray()) then
    // This type is an array type. Determine the element
    // type (if it is set) to make it possible
    // to further inspect the array's elements.
    ad : ArrayDesc = ArrayDesc(typ);
    eType : ClassType = ad.GetElementType(); // Can be NIL
    elseif (typ.IsInterface()) then
    // This type is an interface type. The inspector might
    // further interrogate the real object implementing
    // the interface, like any other object, or
    // do something special when inspecting interfaces.
    else
    // This type is an object type. If the type
    // is a subclass of DataValue you might want to deal
    // with it separately. Otherwise, if it's a simple object
    dvType : ClassType = DataValue;
    if (dvType.IsSuperOf(typ)) then
    // The type is a subclass of DataValue.
    // Once the attribute value is retrieved,
    // its value can be gotten by using the
    // DataValue.TextValue attribute.
    else
    // This is a simple object that, if not
    // NIL, requires further reflection.
    end if;
    end if ;
    end method; ..."
    The key I guess is here"
    "...Getting and setting the value of an attribute that is not a primitive type requires that the application know more about the current object than is necessary if its type is primitive. For example, an attribute of type Boolean might be assumed to have a default value of FALSE. But an attribute of type Array of IntegerData might have as its default value a NIL value or an empty array, or an array with a single IntegerData element initialized to 0.
    To get or set the value of the current attribute when the data type is a class or interface, use the GetValue and SetValue methods. If the data type is a class, specify an object whose class is a subtype of the class. If the data type is an interface, specify an object whose class implements the interface. ..."
    Remember that UDS reflection has been modeled following the Java Reflection Framework but it is not a full implementation of it.
    Let me know if I can be of any further help
