Java Enterprise Studio 8.1 cannot create a websphere server

I just downloaded Java Enterprise Studio 8.1 and follows the instruction here
http://developers.sun.com/jsenterprise/reference/techart/jse8_1/websphere.html
to create a server to connect to a local websphere install. However, when I clicked the Next button after selecting Websphere on the first step, nothing
happens, although the wizard When I clicked the Next button
again, the wizard jumps to step 3 and the Finish button is disabled. So I cannot
create a websphere connection. The websphere seem to work for other server type. Am I missing something? Has anyone successfully created a websphere connection?

Hi,
you can start the Jdev by command line and then see the log that it is generating. Maybe there you can see the problem that is happening.
Also you can check if the server is running with
 telnet hostname 7001
Some possible reasons
 you have a firewall blocking the connection
 did you check /etc/hosts file entry ? should be something like this <ip address of host > hostname1

Sun java Enterprise Studio and ejb diagrams

Can I use the studio to create ejb diagrams?
If so, can I use the studio to reverse engineering existing ejbs and create these diagrams?

Can you clarify what you mean by EJB diagrams. You can create class diagrams that have model elements that represent EJB objects.
The UML tool has support for design patterns. We have a couple of design pattern catalogs that provide some EJB support. You can even graphically create you own design patterns.
The UML project will also reverse engineer Enterprise projects and create a UML model. With the UML model you can create UML diagrams.
Can you give me any information about EJB support that you would like to see in the UML tool?

DFS - Cannot Create Namespace - RPC Server Is Unavailable windows 2008R2

Hi guys, I am back again with another question
I am trying to create a domain based namespace, enabled Windows 2008 mode and get the following
error...\\Miracle-Adventure.com\dfs. The namespace cannot be queried. The RPC server is unavailable.
I have 3 DC's - 2 Virtual DC (windows 2008R2) / 01 DC on a Physical Box Windows 2008R2. I am trying
to create the DFS Namespace in my Physical Box DC01.
Any Idea?

Error converting image, cannot create thumbnail, linux server nightmare

 Hope everyone is doing really well
 
 I have finally decided to try to fix a problem I have had for almost two years now
 
 I have read all the posts about this problem but I still cannot find the answer
 
 Every time I apply a show thumbnail server behavior I get this error
 
 Error converting image (create thumbnail). The "/home2/mysite/public_html/images/thumbnails/" folder has no write permissions.
 
 Which sounds easy
 SO I reset the file permissions on the image file and the thumbnail fil and I still get the same error over and over again
 
 really frustrating as it means I have to have an extra field in my database and in my upload forms to store a tumb sized image
 
 I have read in one post to create a new php file and paste this code
 <? phpinfo(); ?>
 then check if GD library is enabled it IS enabled
 
 I read in another post that I should change something in my php.ini file on my server .... but I CANNOT find the file and I don't know what how or what to change.....
 
 Has anyone actually got the show thumbnail behavior to work on a linux server
 
 I would REALLY appreciate any help solving this problem

what write permissions value did you now define for the thumbnails directory ?
For every picture on my site I need to have three copies
One full size for the detail page
One thumbnail
One small picture , bigger than the thumb to display in a tooltip , when you hover over the thumbnail

Sorry to learn that you are having this issue.
Let's do this 1st
-Reboot the computer.
-Open the browser (Internet Explorer, chrome, FireFox, Safari,Opera ) of your preference and clear cookies and internet (Browsing) history. In the browser of your preference try singing-in or registering to e-print.
If the above did not solved your issue, Please try this step;
-Use another browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, firefox, safari, Opera).
If that did not work please try this;
- Set an static IP Address for your printer, This should be done outside the DHCP range (the range that your router uses to automaticly assing leasses to the clients or devices connecting to the network). You will have to do your research to see what is the procedure to accomplish this in your OS, Router and other peripheral in this case most probably your printer.
- Use Google public DNS Servers 8.8.8.8 and alternate 8.8.4.4 (the reason that I recommend this is because I have use them all the time and have not seem conflict of any kind)
- Make sure that your printer have the most current firmware and software available for them (remember most of the updates in firmware and software are to FIX ISSUES and in a lesser degree done are to add functionality). The issue that you having may have been fix in a firmware update.
- Make sure that your Operating system is updated (To a lesser extend this are also updated to FIX ISSUES although some times can create them as well, mostly they are updated to patch security issues) it may be important.
If that did not work and this is an acceptable option for you;
Sign-in with an alternative account (Shapfish form HP, google account, Facebook). If you do not have an account mention create one and follow this to sign-in with the new account. https://h30495.www3.hp.com/help#eprint
The steps aforementioned may fix the problem by them self but also will help establish that is not any of this circumstances creating the issue you are experiencing, moreover that is indeed a more isolated issue. And if this is the case please post again with all relevant information please

Also this is what I heard from other members of the forum.
I heard here (other members of the community) that there is an issue that engineer are working on diligently that may be affecting this particular process. At the same time I know that other members have some success using this steps aforementioned.

Cannot Create an Application Server Connection in JDeveloper

I am going through the tutorial titled "Building J2EE Web Applications" at the following URL:

I have been able to sucessfully setup a separate instance of OC4J. But when I try to establish the connection using JDeveloper's connection wizard and the instructions provided. I get the Invalid Username/Password Error.
Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

The default username/password combo is 'admin' and 'welcome', respectively. You can change this in the principals.xml file or look at http://otn.oracle.com/tech/java/oc4j/htdocs/how-to-jazn.html for info on how to encrypt the username/password.

Cannot find java.exe when executing Sun Java Enterprise 8.1

I downloaded and installed Sun Java Enterprise 8.1 (actually because I kept getting not enough space messages I downloaded it in 3 parts). When attempting to execute by clicking on the icon I keep getting a message saying "cannot find java.exe". I previously installed the java runtime successfully. Is anyone familiar with this and if so how do I get around it. I am running Win2k SP4 on a laptop. Thank you for any insight you can provide.

I faced same problem. I had jdk 1.5.0_05 installed on C: drive directly. But When I check the log though the installation found the version it was assuming it to be at 'C:\Program Files\Java' so even after finding the installed JDK it was failing. When I copied the JDK at 'C:\Program Files\Java' and then uninstalled and reinstalled the Sun java studio 8 again, at this time it asked me about which JDK to use! Then there I could point to C:\jdk1.5.0_05. Then everything went through fine. I guess this is some problem in installation code. Try this out.

Hi, I have rechecked this issue. In the bug they say that Big Integer should be changed to Big Decimal to resolve the issue. I checked my application and saw that there is no Big Interger. Please can you guide me further.

Ahem, when I try to compile the file below, "PhoneDirectory.java", I get the following compilation error message:

 Scanner fin = Scanner.create(file);After quite a bit of tweaking... I'm right back where I started. I'm a seasoned programmer, as far as concepts are concerned, but rather new to JAVA.
The error seems to be occuring where a new instance of "Scanner" is supposed to be created. It uses file I/O, and I had only used the Scanner class for the keyboard input in the past.
Looking at the Scanner class, everything seems to be right to me. I'm probably missing some simple fundamental concept, and I've been pulling my hair out trying to get it... Please help me shed some light on this situation!

I don't see a Scanner.create() method in the Scanner class but I do see a constructor with the signature you want. Change
Scanner fin = Scanner.create(file);
to
