  • Two java.exe processes running in the Task Manager in Windows XP

    I tried to find the best possible place to post this and after spending about 20 minutes searching for an appropriate forum starting from java.com I ended up here. So forgive me if the is a wrong place and if there?s a more appropriate place for my question, please provide a pointer to it.
    I don't know much about java and what it does but as the title says when I open the Task manager there are two java.exe processes running at the same time with about 20 000 k each.
    One of the processes is coming from:
    C:\Program Files\Alias\Maya6.5\docs\jre\bin\java.exe
    and the other from:
    C:\Program Files\Alias\Maya7.0\docs\jre\bin\java.exe
    in addition to that a jusched.exe process is also running coming from
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\bin\jusched.exe
    I rarely open the Maya 6.5 and 7 documentations but the two java.exe process are running all the time and I would like to stop them running when I don?t need them but I don?t know how.
    I can't end these processes from the Task Manager; they reappear immediately after I end them.
    Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

  • Memory grows in javaw.exe but not in java.exe process

    Hi,
    I'm testing some heavy emoticons(most of them are animated). Emoticons are shown in a popmenu, each emoticon is inside a JLabel with borders that are draw on mouse over. These JLabels are in a GridLayout.
    The test itself consists in pressing repeatly on a button that opens the popupmenu with emoticons many times.
    I noticed that this test, as a webstart app process (javaw.exe), makes the memory grow continously until someone (SO or JVM) thinks its time to free the mem.
    As a standalone app process (java.exe), mem does not grow - ok it grow about 3 MB and stabilizes
    Is there some good reason for this to happen?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Metalink says that the OS is ok.
    But now i have found a workaround . I used the installer
    from the Oracle Designer patch 10.1.2.2 with the products.xml from the Oracle
    Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2. The installation cancels at the end. Doesn't
    matter. I continue with the installation of the Oracle Designer patch 10.1.2.2.
    The installation is terminating successful, i correct the tnsnames.ora and the
    Designer is running.
    No award of beauty - but useable as a workaround.

  • Rename java.exe process

    Is there a way to run a java program in Windows and have its process named something other than "jave.exe"? I have a problem where there are multiple java processes running and I would like to able to kill them selectively.

    Java programs don't run as native code. The Java runtime environment is the application that is actually executing under Windows, and your application runs under the JRE. This being the case, Windows isn't even aware that your application has a name other than "java.exe".
    That being said, I have been able to copy java.exe to a different name (but still in the jre1.5.0\bin directory) and run that version, which then shows up in the Task Manager.

  • Debugging java.exe (running in a browser) results in the process dying

    This question applies to java.exe when ran in the context of a web browser (tested with both IE and Firefox). That is, a java.exe process started as a result of an applet being loaded.
    When I attach to the java.exe process using a debugger (such as OllyDbg or Windbg) but don't resume the process within a few seconds when I do resume it the process (java.exe) terminates. It seems like there is something checking to see whether java.exe is responsive and signalling it should terminate if not. What I'm trying to figure out is whether that is a 'feature' of the JVM/java.exe or perhaps the browser process.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Cheers.

    Please vote for the following enhancement request if you are
    interested in having the ability to run AIR apps within a browser.
    It would be very nice to be able to develop a single
    application that can run either in a browser or as a desktop
    application (and have access to the AIR API). Many users may also
    prefer not to install desktop applications.

  • Problem with java applications - java.exe in loop

    Hi
    I just install j2sdk1.4.1_01
    I got a problem:
    when I run any code without graphics (clasic hello world with println) everything run fine
    when I try to run anythig else (with some swing) the java.exe process start to use 100% of the CPU and never end (probably a loop)
    The same think happen when I launch Java web Start so I suppose that the problem is not the code (I just use some dialog with one or two buttons and the application run fine on other pc).
    My system:
    OS: w2k server - SP3
    CPU: P4 1.8GHz
    RAM: 512 MB
    several services running: IIS with dhcp server, DNS server.
    The system was scanned and no viruses are found.
    I unistall everything (j2sdk, jre, web start) and I got the same after reinstalling them.
    I launch the application from the comand line and the results doesn't change.
    I install a different version of SDK (02 instead of 01) but nothing change.
    The same happens if I try to use jbuilder8.
    Any idea

    Try updating DirectX.

  • Java.exe not ending

    For some reason the java.exe process does not get removed from the Windows Task Manager when I exit out of my swing based java application. After awhile my pc runs into virtual memory errors because of the numerous java.exe's running. This only happens on my PC. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling my JDK and JRE, running my virus program, ad-aware, spy-bot, windows updates, all with no luck. Has anyone come across this problem before? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    If you have access to the code, make sure you exit with System.exit().
    If you relay on the return from main() to finish you application, there is no guarantee this will happen. If there are still threads running (created by you or by the libraries you use, for instance Swing), the task will not complete. Why it works on some machines and not on others? Maybe different JRE versions?

  • Java.exe - power hungary program?

    Ok, this is a very weird problem (I think). A few times now, I've run a java program (using java <classname>) and my computer (top of the line Dell Inspiron 9100, very fast, 1 gb of RAM) has slowed considerably. To put it in perspective, I've rendered a video using Premier, at the same time as playing Counter-Strike, with no noticable decline in performance. Now, for the real proof, I've used Task Manager every time to find the problem. Every time java.exe has been using greater then 95% of my CPU. It has Hyper Threading, and Both CPU's are hitting 100%. It's a very fast jump from normal operating to ~100%, and it'll platue there, until I close the java.exe process. I can't imagine why it's doing this, can you? Should I be using any sort of arguments in the command. I also (the last time, I can't remember the others) was using a batch file to run my program. Will THAT effect anything? (I've never in my years dealing with computers, seen a shortcut/batch file clobber the CPU).
    Ok, the other program factors. At the time this happened, I was running a Server I wrote for a game I'm making. I was also running the client (both are threaded) at the same time (well duh, when else would I run the client thwap). I can provide code for both, if need be, they're short enough. I have run both at the same time before, and did here for about two minutes before I noticed the CPU acting up.
    Any thoughts are appreciated, solutions even more so :) Thanks for your time!

    I was assuming that it was the "author of <classname>'s fault, namely, me. But the circumstances are weird, and I can't duplicate them. Here's an update.
    I just re-ran the combination of my two programs, and while one spiked to 73% when it loaded (the GUI client), neither of them took much CPU. It ran at about 15% the entire time kI was testing (and running some music, and browser). This is completly normal. So, I tested using multiple copies of the Client, multiple servers, and neither had the desired (or rather, undesired) effect. I tested running one from jGRASP< one from the Batch file. I tested both from the batch file, no luck. I'm completely stumped. Yes, I am running the latest 1.4, not going up to 1.5 (or should I say 5, or perhaps Tiger?) until it's out of Beta. This has happened, by my account, 4 times in the past, and it's always been with classes I use a lot. Now it's seemin to me that its some weird case that my classes are just eating java.exe, but I can't imagine how. Here's my two thread (i.e. the classes, minus the initializers).
        public class Server implements Runnable
           public void run()
             while(connected)
                try
                   socket = serverSocket.accept();
                   socket.setSoTimeout(200);
                   new Player(socket, me);
                   numberOfPlayers++;
                   System.out.println("New player " + numberOfPlayers + "!!\n" + socket.getInetAddress());
                    catch(IOException e)
                      e.printStackTrace();
        public class Player implements Runnable
           public void run()
             while(socket.isConnected())
                try
                   String toPrint = input.readLine();
                   System.out.println(toPrint);
                    catch(IOException e)
    }No, so far I don't actually talk to the Player class, it just creates itself. The Client class is just a GUI that accepts input from a Menu, or textField (not implemented yet, save to copy the text to a Text Area). If you select connect, you connect to my server, and it asks for a name. That's all I have so far, and I can't see that either of the threads would cause a problem. ANy suggestions appreciated. Thanks

  • 2x java.exe and j2launcher.exe !! with Java 1.7 Update 17

    Helo,
    Forms 10.1.2.3
    Java 1.7 17
    Windows 7
    I know Forms 10.1.2.3. does not support Java 7 !
    Still my question.
    I have provided the workaround with the parameter java.vendor = "Sun .....".
    Thus, the application works. With Java 1.7 Update 03 I had no problems.
    Now I've switched to 1.7 Update 17 and have the following behavior:
    The Java console is opened twice. Likewise, I see in the taskmanager suddenly two jp2launcher.exe and two java.exe processes.
    with Update 03, there was only one process !
    Can anyone tell me why?

  • 10g (10.2.01) setup/java.exe hangs on Windows 2000 SP4.

    Hi all,
    I'm currently having an issue with a 10g install on Windows 2000 (SP4) hosted on a Windows Virtual Machine.
    I remote to this machine using PCAnywhere.
    When I run setup.exe it just hangs on the java.exe process.
    I have run the setup with a -debug option and am not seeing anything out of the ordinary.
    I have also checked the the log and it does not seem to contain any errors.
    I have run through the 10g pre installation requirements and don't believe that is a problem as the
    machine and OS meets all the criteria.
    I have researched a similar setup.exe/java.exe hanging issues and have tried some of those solutions to no avail.
    For instance moving the 10g the install folder to C: drive and confirming there are no spaces in the install path.

    As Daniel stated on his previous post, this is not supported from the official oracle point of view, so if you are implementing this for production environments, even if it worked, you would be on your own. However, this should work. Check if you have any other java environment on the scope of the PATH environment variable. A virtual machine is from the OS configuration point of view the same as a physical machine, if the PATHs are scrambled and if you are accessing different versions of JRE at install time, this won't work, and the first symptom is a frozen java session.

  • A process java.exe uses 100% cpu

    This problem stops me start database 10g on Windows XP. I am wondering anyone might have same experience before and could share how to fix the issue. Here is situation:
    Every time when 10g database starts, a process java.exe which is loaded by nmesrvc.exe (I think it is OracleDBConsoleMyInstance, right?) uses 89% cpu forever. Because of this, OEM couldn't work! Shutdowning the database and restarting it didn't solve the problem. Killing nmesrvc.exe can stop the java.exe. SQL*Plus still works. But iSQL*Plus didn't works.
    If I stop process OracleDBConsoleMyInstance from Services of Windows, I got error: Error 1053.
    What is wrong here. Your help will be appreciated,

    I had the same problem and was able to resolve it.
    I am using 2 W2K3 servers, one for infrastructure and one for mid-tier (Portal). On the infrastructure machine I used the Administrative Tools -> Services Management Console and first stopped the OracleDBConsole, CPU was still 100% busy. Then I stopped the OracleINFRAControl and the CPU went to 0%. Then I restarted the OracleINFRAControl and then OracleDBConsole and now the CPU is hovering around 2%.
    I ran some tests from another machine and everything seems fine.

  • How to get Class Name given along with java.exe

    Hi friends,
    I am Mukesh, currently facing one problem
    On command prompt to execute any java program we give :
    C : \.-- > java ClassName
    This ClassName I need in my application, I want to do some post processing on that.
    Actually see what I want :
    public class Base
    static Base object;
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception
    object=(Base)Class.forName("Derived Class Name").newInstance();
    void main()
    public class Derived extends Base
    void main()
    System.out.println("Hello World");
    I am trying to Run Derived Class, since there is no entry point found, default JVM invoke the Base class's entry point, there I want to load
    Derived Class, but I am not getting any identity of derived class in Base class.
    I found one temporary solution to this problem :
    C: \ -- >java Derived Derived
    & in Base class, I have loaded class
    object=Class.forName(args[0]).newInstance();
    But I dont want to write the same thing twise just to know the Class name which is given along with java.exe.
    Is there any way to get the ClassName supplied with java.exe
    I have tried a lot, still I am trying !!!
    If any one knows the answer, help me.
    Regards.
    Mukesh.

  • Shared Services 9.3.1.1 HyS9SharedServices.exe process

    We recently started to notice that the HyS9SharedServices.exe process grows to use 1GB of memory. Currently this isn't causing any known issues, there aren't many users in the system. However about a month ago we had major performance issues with HFM / Smartview while there were "a lot" of users in the system. The problems in HFM were slow logins and slow switching between HFM applications. Smartview logins were also slow. Once in the HFM app things seemed to be fine. This lead us to look at Shared Services and we noticed that the HyS9SharedServices.exe had grown to 1GB.
    Note: there was nothing in the Shared Services logs including in debug mode.
    Ticket was opened with Oracle support and they first had us install HFM patch 9.3.1.4.10 siting this defect: 9056633 - HIGH NUMBER OF PROVIDER QUERIES WHEN USER BELONGS TO ONLY NATIVE GROUPS
    Our user security is MSAD accounts belonging to native groups so this patch made sense and seemed to resolve the issue. Oracle also had us upgrade Shared Services to SP1 so we're now on 9.3.1.1 previously on 9.3.1.0.13
    We've been monitoring the memory usage of the HyS9SharedServices.exe process over the last month and while it typically sits somewhere between 150-250MB memory usage twice, including yesterday we watched it grow to 1GB and get stuck there. Our servers are rebooted every Sunday so we expect the process to drop back down to normal again in a few days. Meanwhile we're concerned that something is triggering it to grow and get stuck at 1GB but we don't know what or if this is something that we should be concerned with. Oracle support is still working with us but still doesn't have much on this.
    One other thing of interest when looking at various logs, for example the SharedServices_Memory_Profile.log you can see memory use is ~25455 kb right up until it jumps to 167091 kb and then to 681665 kb starting at 12:01pm yesterday right when the process started to grow. Then at 12:11pm according to the log it's back down to 25516 kb but this is not how windows is reporting it as it's still currently showing it at 1,059,676 K. Could this just simply mean that windows isn't reporting things accurately or is it tomcat? Any one have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Eugene

    One of the problems that show similar sysmtoms is data explosion, caused by poorly written rules. Rules can dramatically populate a database with many more values than what was loaded from the source system. To determine if this issue is affecting your application, first determine how many records are in the DCE (Entity) table and see how close that is to the number of records in the load file. You can run a query that will order all the records, and give you a count of how many records there are for each account. Look for accounts that have dramatically larger frequencies than others, and then trace them back to the source. Do the same for the DCN (Node) table.
    The results of this can be compared with your load file to determine if you are experiencing data explosion from rules.
    Are you getting any subcube warnings in the HSVEvent log?
