JAVA export / import

Hi,
I am performing a Database migration from DB2 to MSSQL Server.
The JAVA system copy guide tells to use SAPINST to export Java. However I do not find any option in SAPINST 640 to do a Java export.
<u>Environment information:</u>
CRM 4.0 with WAS 640.
J2EE engine has MapBox SP08 installed on it. Need to migrate this as well.
Regds,
Mangesh Pise

Currently it is not supported with just sapinst.  There are other options that you need to use along with sapint(similar to HA installation).  You need to read the instguide that is described in oss note 785848.  This is the extract from the file:
"SAP will deliver the Java System Copy feature in SAP NetWeaver `04 Support Release 1. Since this is a new feature, SAP has decided that these projects can only be performed under SAP’s control during the introductory phase. Before you start a Java System Copy, you must contact SAP to get more information. To do this, open an SAP Service Marketplace message."
Then you will realize that you need to raise OSS Message under BC-INS-MIG since it should be recognition of SAP you should perform this task.  Create message with SUBJECT "JSCNW04SR1: {hom het} / <SRCDB>/<SRCOS> to <TRGDB>/<TRGOS>'"
All the best.

  • (ABAP+JAVA) system is too big to export/import

We have some NW04s and ECC6 dual stack systems that we want to frequently clone using homogeneous system copy method.
However they can be as big as many terabytes.
Is there a way to clone they using a way other than export/import?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0, you can copy ABAPJava systems in one run using either database-specific methods or database-independent methods. In a ABAPJAVA stack system, you need to run a separate export for the Java engine to archive SDM and application specific file contents. You will have to supply that java Export location on the target system, while performing DB specific system copy procedure.
Please refer [system copy guide for ABAP+JAVA stack |http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000670917&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000112&_OBJECT=011000358700000416402008E] along with the previously suggested links to get more information.

  • Functionality to handle JAVA Export and Imports in ChaRM covered under SP15

    Hi All,
Is the highly expected functionality of handling change request management for Java based systems (Export-Import for the Java transports) is covered under the Support pack 15 of SOLMAN4.0?
If anyone has any information regarding please share.
    Regards,
    Kathir

Don't believe this is possible without a manual process linked to it.
The only solution I see for now is that you first only release the TR that need to go to your follow-up system, import them, then perform the manual actions and then release the subsequent TRs, etc...
Same issue is popping-up when using XI Transports, as each TR has a Change List that needs to be activated. If two TRs within the same maintenance cycle contain the same object, the second TR will fail because the change list for that object is not yet activated. A manual process can solve the issue. At our project, we introduced a new user status for this.

  • SLTOOLS.SAR error when importing from JAVA export

I have done a standard system copy JAVA Export from a NW 7.01 EHP1 going to a new target system that is identical to the source.  I then moved the export files to the target and am running the import.
I am now getting an error stating: "error opening X:\EPD_EXPORT\JAVA/TOOLS/SLTOOLS.SAR (error 6). The system cannot find the path specified".
This TOOLS folder and SLTOOLS.SAR file does not exist because it was not created when I did the export from the source system.  Any idea why this was not created during the export?  Also, how can I obtain SLTOOLS.SAR?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Did you check "DB specic tools" during the export ? if not, try that option and export it.
SLtools should be under $SAPGlobalDir/sltools - (Please check whether your SOURCE system has it)

  • How to export/import customization infromation from a java portlet?

I created a java portlet using the methods in oracle.portal.provider.v2.personalize and oracle.portal.provider.v2.preference packages as described in the document adding.customization.pdk.java.v2.html. I am using DBPreferenceStore instead of FilePreferenceStore for my application.
When I am migrating from development to production, how do I export/import the portlet customizations to the new environment along with the pages?

Here is an Oracle doc explaining how to use PrefenceStores (File and limited DB)
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/PDK/ARTICLES/HOW.TO.USE.PDKJAVA.PREFSTORE.V2.HTML
But more directly applicable, the last paragraph of the API class documentation for DBPreferenceStore explains the information needed to do this.
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/PDK/JPDK/apidoc/oracle/portal/provider/v2/preference/DBPreferenceStore.html
It explains what table is used to store the data, the default is "JPDK_PREFERENCE_STORE2". And explains that if you use your own, you have to specify the table name in the provider.xml. Since you don't seem to know which table, the implication is that you used the default (and were lucky enough that it was installed...it wasn't on my install of the jpdk).
You should be able to extract the appropriate data from the "JPDK_PREFERENCE_STORE2" table.
    I hope this helps.

  • Why jave export and import need to be performed after sys copy Dual stack

    Dear All,
i have a question why do we have to perform JAVA export in the source and import in the target system
after system copy ( dual stack ). when whole database is copied. Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
The reason for this is: because most of the Java configuration lies in the file system and not in the database. This is the reason you need to export Java and then import in system copy.
    Thanks
    Sunny

  • Best choice for exporting / importing EUL

    Hi all
I have been tasked with migrating an EUL from a R11 to a R12 environment. The Discoverer version on both environments is 10.1.2 and the OS is Solaris on oracle db's.
I am unfortunately not experienced with Discoverer and there seems to be no one available to assist for various reasons. So I have been reading the manual and forum posts and viewing metalink articles.
I tried exporting the entire eul via the wizard and then importing it to the new environment but i was not successfull and experienced the system hanging for many hours with a white screen and the log file just ended.
I assumed this was a memory problem or slow network issues causing this delay. Someone suggested I export import the EUL in pieces and this seemed to be effective but I got missing item warnings when trying to open reports. This piece meal approach also worried me regarding consistency.
So I decided to try do the full import on the server to try negate the first problem I experienced. Due to the clients security policies I am not able to open the source eul and send it to our dev. I was able to get it from their dev 11 system but I dismissed this as the dev reports were not working and the only reliable eul is the Prod one. I managed to get a prod eex file from a client resource but the upload to my server was extremely slow.
I asked the dba to assit with the third option of exporting a db dump of the eul_us and importing this into my r12 dev environment. I managed this but had to export the db file using sys which alleviated a priviledge problem when logging in, I have reports that run and my user can see the reports but there are reports that were not shared to sysadmin in the source enviroment are now prefixed with the version 11 user_id in my desktop and the user cannot see her reports only the sysadmin ones.
I refreshed the BA's using a shell script I made up which uses the java cmd with parameters.
After some re reading I tried selecting all the options in the validate menu and refreshing in the discover admin tool.
If I validate and refresh the BA using the admin tool I get the hanging screen and a lot of warnings that items are missing( so much for my java cmd refresh!) and now the report will not open and I see the substitute missing item dialogue boxes.
My question to the forum is which would be the best approach to migrate the entire eul from a R11 instance to a R12 instance in these circumstances?
    Many thanks
    Regards
    Nick

    Hi Srini
The os and db details are as follows:
    Source:
    eBus 11.5.2
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    SunOS 5.10 Generic_142900-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V890
    Target:
    ebus 12.1.2
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production DEV12
    SunOS 5.10 Generic_142900-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V890
Yes the DBA initially did an exp for me using EUL_US as the owner but a strange thing happened with privileges and also, some of the imported tables appeared in the target environment under the apps schema(21 tables) even though the eul_us exp had been 48 tables.
I also had a problem on the db with "eul_us has insufficient privileges on table space discoverer" type errors.
I checked the eul_us db privileges and was unable to resolve this initial privilege error even though the privileges were granted to eul_us.
The dba managed to exp as system and then import it with the full=y flag in the import command which seems to bring in the privileges.
Then I ran the eul5_id.sql and then made up a list of the business areas and made a sh script to refresh the business areas as follows:
    java -jar eulbuilder.jar -connect sysadmin/oracle1@dev -apps_user -apps_responsibility "System Administrator" -refresh_business_area "ABM Activities" -log refresh.log
This runs successfully and I can log in select business area and grant access to the users. The reports return data.
Then one of the users said she can't see all her reports. I noticed some if I opened desktop that were sitting there prefixed with a hash and her version 11 user id.
So back to the manuals and in the disco admin help the instructions are to first go to view > validate > select all options then go to the business area and click file refresh. This gives me a lot of warnings about items that are missing. I assume this is because the item identifiers brought across in the db dump are the version 11 ones and thus not found in the new system.
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks
    Nick

  • R/3 Export & Import during Unicod Conversion via SOCKET Method

    Hi
We are in the process of upgrading our R/3 Enterprise to ECC 6.0. The size of the database is around 4 TeraBytes.
Can somebody help us with necessary documentation/ othe rinputs to handle R/3 Export & Import using SOCKET method?  FYI we referred the SAP given doucments on the same. Any particular DOs & DO NOTs would be highly appreciated.
    Thank You
    Sai

    Hi Rahul
regarding your 'Unicode doubt"' some ideas:
    1) The Upgrade Master Guide SAP ERP 6.0 and the Master Guide SAP ERP 6.0 include introductory information. Among other, these guides reference the SAP Service Marketplace-location http://service.sap.com/unicode@sap.
    2) In Unicode@SAP can you find several (content-mighty) FAQs
Conclusion from the FAQ: First of all your strategy needs to follow your busienss model (which we can not see from here):
Example. The "Upgrade to mySAP ERP 2005"-FAQ includes interesting remarks in section "DO CUSTOMERS NEED TO CONVERT TO A UNICODE-COMPLIANT ENVIRONMENT?"
"...The Unicode conversion depends on the customer situation....
... - If your organization runs a single code page system prior to the upgrade to mySAP ERP 2005, then the use of Unicode is not mandatory. ..... However, using Unicode is recommended if the system is deployed globally to facilitate interfaces and connections.
    - If your organization uses Multiple Display Multiple Processing (MDMP) .... the use of Unicode is mandatory for the mySAP ERP 2005 upgrade....."
In the Technical Unicode FAQ you read under "What are the advantages of Unicode ...", that "Proper usage of JAVA is only possible with Unicode systems (for example, ESS/MSS or interfaces to Enterprise Portal). ....
=> Depending on the fact if your systems support global processes, or depending on your use of Java Applications, your strategy might need to look different
    3) In particular in view of your 3rd option, I recommend you to take a look into these FAQs, if not already done.
Remark: mySAP ERP 2005 is the former name of the application, which is named SAP ERP 6.0, now

  • Homogeneous system copy using export/import on WIn/Ora

    Dear experts,
i need to know the homogeneous system copy procedure using export/import method for following scenario as we are in the process of Data center migration of SAP systemsfrom location to another location.
    Source system:
    ECC6/BI7/APO(ABAP stack)
    OS:WIndows 2003
    D:B:Oracle 10g
Target System: New hardware installed on Virtual environment(VMware)
    No change of SID
    ECC6/BI//APO
    OS:WINDOWS2008
    D:B: Oracle 11g
It would be great if anyone can share the documentu2019s/links (Not SAP homogeneous system copy guide) which you have prepared for the homog. system copy using export/import on Windows/oracle  as i have done the system copy using backup/restore for ABAP stack and export/import for Java stack so far.
Therefore i am not sure about this procedure/prerequisites/checklist needs to prepare as i have gone through the SAP guide but it is not step by step document.
    Cheers

There are two approacahes for your  project
    1) First wether to use Oracle11g on target database
    2) Continue with Database Oracle 10.2 on traget database
If you want to use Oracle11.2 on your target database you have to search the installers which are supported for 11.2 database. If the installers are available then only you can install your target database using Oracle11.2.Other wise t use Oracle10.2.0.4 is supported on Win2008r2. You can use this version of Oracle database to build ur target database. It works fine . Absolutely no problem.
Later on you can upgrade the Oracle10.2 to 11.2 Onwards.
If installers are avialble you can use Oracle11.2 also. There is absolutely no problem.
As per my knowledge installers are available and supported with Oracle11.2.Also check the PAM before arriving on any deciscion.

  • Java Export hangs at 'Export Java Database Content' phase

    Hi All -
As part of system refresh activities,we are doing Java Export from our Production system(PE1) & we will use that export to import it in our Qulaity system(QE1).So while doing Java Export, the export gets stucks/hangs at 'Export Java Database Content" phase which is the last phase in Java Export steps. We have been doing this task since many years  & we did not encounter this kind of issue ever. There are no errors or at least warnings in the logs like sapinst_dev.log,jload.log,jload.java.log,sapinst.log etc.Our environment details are as below
    EP -6.0
    OS - AIX 5.3,64 BIT
    DB - DB2 UDB
    SAPINST version - 642
    Java version is below
    pe1adm> java -fullversion
    java full version "J2RE 1.4.2 IBM AIX 5L for PowerPC (64 bit JVM) build caix64142ifx-20100918 (SR13 FP6)"
Please note with the SAPINST we are using currently, the exports of remaining systems in EP & other solutions like ECC,CR,SRM,XI,BI are successfull. We are having this issue only in PE1.Looks like some bug in code.So request the experts in this forum to please take a look at it & provide me with solution if any of you have faced the similar situation.
    Thanks & regards,
    Nagendra.

Thank you for your reply Subhash. The below is the last entry in jload.log.It is at EP_ATTR_HEADERS.While doing the Java export,we asked our DBA to monitor to find out any errors at DB side.He monitored and said that no deadlocks or no infinite loops are found. Also he said that he cannot create index for that too because it is trying to do select *.In our first 2 or 3 attempts it used to hang at CA_PRODUCTS meta data exported,CA_PROPERTY meta data exported. Now here. Our DBA said that EP_ATTR_HEADERS has 1.4M rows.We tried to bounce the entire system also, but no luck.We have the same issue.Peculiar thing is we dont see any errors or warnings in the logs.

we have a distributed system witch I want to make a copy of
    Oracle Database on HP-UX
    CI + SCS on Windows
    Dual stack system  ABAP/Java
    1)  I have made an system copy with data base copy tools, and that works fine.
    2)  I have made a system copy export/import of a "central system"
If I try to make an export/import system copy on a distributed system it wont work.
( this work fine in a central system) I dont get anny error messages all gren checks marks !
It seems like the problem are in not finding the profiles from CI ?
It find the profiles for the sapgateway.
I someone are more interested I have more documentation with screen shots in a word document.
I Have used Installation Master SR3 and tryed with some older versions as well.
    I have read SAP Note 970518 - Hom./Het.System Copy SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) SR2
    SAPINST
Using virtual hosts for central and/or DB instances
    SYMPTOM:
You are using virtual host names for your central instance and/or the database instance (e.g. in a HA environment). Although SAPinst finishes successfully, some export steps are not being performed.
    SOLUTION:
Start the export with the property SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host>.
If the central instance and the database instance run on different hosts, run the database export with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host name of the DB server> and - if you run a Java or ABAP+Java system - run the central instance export with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host nameof the central instance host>.
If you run a central system with different host names in the profiles, handle the export as a distributed export, calling SAPinst with parameter SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME. Perform the export of the database instance on the DB server, calling SAPinst with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host of the DB server>.

Hi I have received folloving answer from SAP:
You're doing everything correct - besides one thing.
When you specify the profiles during the database export it cannot be
correct to specify the profiles of the gateway instance located on
    the same host.
As a consequence - it picks up the wrong instance G01 and sets the
property 'hasABAP' and 'hasJava' to 'false'...  - thus the export
is empty. You can see this within the corresponding 'sapinst.log' file.
The correct procedure would be to specify the profiles of the central
instance on the Windows Machine. If you cannot access them, you should
make them available by Samba or by any type of software which makes
it's possible to export filesystems or directories from windows to
    unix.

  • SAP JAVA Export alone NW7.3

    Hi All,
We are using NW7.3 for SAP BPM  Application.
We are planning for Source system java export alone in NW 7.3. But we don't find the option for central instance export under based on AS java in SAPINST. only database instance export option only exist. I know there is no central instance concept from NW7.3. We are trying to refresh the CATE system using Production system. we are already performed database refresh in CATE system and trying to export java profile in source system and import into CATE system.
Please tell us the procedure for central instance export in NW7.3.
    Regards,
    Raj

  • MS Office Export/Import to Excel

Do we have standard API to implement export/import functionality for MS Excel 2007. I am not sure if JXL/HSSF or any other APIs have come up for this new version of excel.
    Any thoughts?

  • Export / Import of Apex Data

    Hello,
We are planning to move our Oracle databases from Windows Servers to Linux ones. In a test lab, we have successfully exported all data from an Oracle DB instance on Windows and imported that data on an Oracle DB instance on Linux (with the old export/import Oracle tool)
But in fact...it was all data except Apex data. The complete Apex environment is available on our new Linux server but no trace of all our workspaces and applications. The only available workspace is Internal.
We do not want to export / import all workspaces, applications, images and files one by one (by hand on the Apex environment).
    - Is there a particular method to follow to include the Apex data in the export / import process ?
    OR
    - Is there a trick or a utility program that can automate the export / import of Apex data ?
    Thank you for your help.
    - Patrice

    Patrice,
There is an Apex utility (it's called ApexExport) that can be setup to run workspace, application and page exports. It's a Java based utility and sometimes can be a little maddening to get configured to run but it will do the job once you get it configured. The utility will be on the database machine in the Apex installation directory. There is pretty good documentation available from Oracle but John Scott blogged about it here http://jes.blogs.shellprompt.net/2006/12/12/backing-up-your-applications/ as well.
