Java.lang.NullPointerException within ZPM on ZCM 10.3

I'm trying to resolve a problem with Patch Management after applying the update for ZCM (10.3.0a) to my ZCM 10.2.2 server. I receive the following error when I select any patches in patch management.

I have also tried to remove the /share/tomcat/work/Catalina/localhost
as mentioned in TID 7000434, but this did not help.
We are running ZCM 10.3 on a Windows Server 2008 (32-bit) server.
If anyone has a suggestion, your help is much appreciated.

  • Java.lang.NullPointerException in 'Examine Account index' Tab

    When I open a ressource in the Examine Account index Tab I get the error message 'java.lang.NullPointerException' within a message window.
    Is there a Bug withing IDM?

    There is, It may or may not apply to your case.
    Bug#4252: Recon confused by account names only differing in case.
    description
    On resources where account names are case-sensitive, it is possible to have two accounts which are identical except for case differences. When this happens recon will effectively not see the instances beyond the first of the matching accounts.
    /description
    There must be other ways for the index to get messed up, I am seeing the same error and we're using a numeric value as our account name so this can't be it. You are supposed to be able to delete the account index and it will be recreated at your next FULL reconcile. I haven't tried this yet so your mileage may vary but it looks relitavely safe.
    I got this recomendation in a response to my ticket for the same problem I hate to pass on a solution I haven't had the opportunity to try yet (we use password sync so I can't afford to have my accounts unliked during the week.)
    3.3 My best guess is that there's a problem with one of the account
    index records. I would suggest:
    3.3.1 Save the current account index (lh console; export Account.xml
    Account)
    Note 1: I wouldn't suggest the "-v" ... there are almost certainly a
    huge number of accounts and this will only slow down the execution
    Note 2: This could produce 1-2 G of data (or more, depending on how
    many account objects)
    Note 3: This export could take a LONG TIME ... depending on size.
    This can be done while IdM is running.
    Note 4: This export isn't strictly necessary, deleting the account
    index is a safe operation ... meaning recon will rebuild it as
    necessary
    3.3.2 Run a full reconciliation to rebuild the account index

    Some possibly helpful suggestions:
    1) Create one JDesktopPane, and do it in the constructor of GUI. You should call this constructor only once.
    2) Get rid of GUII. The GUI constructor will do all this and more.
    3) Get rid of startFrame and startFrame2.
    4) In GUI2, change your width and height to static variables if you are going to use them in outside classes. There is no reason to have to create a GUI2 object just to get those values. Get them from the class, not the instances.
    5) You're doing something funky in your Top class with your mixing of static code and non-static code. My gut tells me that Top is just a static universe that exists to get your code up and running, and that the code within it should all be static, but that's just my personal opinion.
    6) In MyInternalFrame, get the height and width from GUI2 (if that's what you want to do) again in a static fashion. Rather than new GUI2().width which makes no sense, use GUI2.width.
    Why can't you put the button inside of the JInternalFrame object? I believe that the contentPane of this object which may hold your button (unless you embed a jpanel) uses BorderLayout, so you have to take care how you add jcomponents to the jinternalframe (or more precisely, it's contentPane).

  • Getting "java.lang.NullPointerException" error message when trying to run an OATS OpenScript file from Eclipse to Create a record in Oracle EBS

    Hello,
    I'm trying to run a simple OpenScript script in Eclipse that creates a record (a Supplier in this case) in Oracle E-Business Suite. So I copied the the script file from OpenScript and created it as a Class in Eclipse.  Then I created a main class to call the methods within the script class but no matter what method I call (initialize, run or finalize) I'm getting the java.lang.NullPointerException message. The error doesn't seem to be related with any specific line in the script but with the way that I'm calling it.
    Should I call the OpenScript class from my main class in a different way? (see my examples below)
    BTW, all external .jar files coming with OATS have been added to my project in Eclipse.
    1) Here's the main class I created to call the OpenScript method (Eclipse auto-corrected my main class adding a Try and Catch around the method call):
    public class Test {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            nvscript nvs = new nvscript();
            try {
                nvs.initialize();
            } catch (Exception e) {
                // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                e.printStackTrace();
    2) Here's the script from OpenScript (the actual script has more steps but I'm just using the first one for a proof of concept):
    import oracle.oats.scripting.modules.basic.api.*;
    import oracle.oats.scripting.modules.browser.api.*;

    UPDATE
    Compiling from command line I found out that the class definition for oracle.oats.scripting.modules.basic.api.IteratingVUserScript is missing. Do you know what .jar file contains this class?

    I did a test by stripping out the attachment being sent by the client and just let it send the string,
    then in the webservice I stripped out the lines for the attachment and just returned the string and it worked ok, so it has been deployed correctly.
    I have the Java Activation framework both in tomcat commons and my webapps lib dir.
    I'm pretty sure the error is being thrown here,

    Ok, I have now successfully got the stack trace to show where the exception bubbled, Im suprised its in the axis client as I assumed it was in the webservice, but this whole exercise has been extremely beneficial,
    anyway this is the client code again and the stack trace error, I now think the problem lies within the JAF, possibly, however, im doing something incorrectly,

    Hi Maksim,
    Thanks for the reply. you are right NPE is at 798 line but this issue is only with one user, for others it works fine. That is my issue.
    Here is the code at 798 :
    wdThis.wdFireEventCallContractView(wdContext.currentNewOutputElement().getW_Zzconnum(),flag);
    public INewOutputElement(InternalContract delegate, com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.gci.IGCINodeInfo info, Object modelInstance) {

          this.gen_modelInstance = (com.s.insertmodel.Z_Bapi_Insert_Contract_Data_Output) modelInstance;
          gen_delegate = delegate;
    Can you look at this code and tell me what is wrong?

  • Java.lang.NullPointerException? only on firefox? HELP

    ok, so while running any java applets, i get this error
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at com.sun.deploy.net.proxy.DynamicProxyManager.reset(Unknown Source)
    at com.sun.deploy.net.proxy.DeployProxySelector.reset(Unknown Source)
    at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.initEnvironment(Unknown Source)
    i am not a java coder, i am just trying to use java applets created by people.
    the strange thing is, this only happens on mozzila firefox, and only on my one desktop, someone else who has a desktop on my computer can run java perfectly! PLEASE HELP! how can i fix this so i can use java applets?

    I had exactly this same problem appear from out of the blue a week ago.
    The solution for me was to reset the general.useragent.override config parameter.
    To be precise, I opened the about:config page, searched for and found the general.useragent.override parameter, right-clicked it and selected the "reset" option. The value was thereby replaced with an empty string, like "", and after I closed and re-opened firefox even the base entry for general.useragent.override was gone.
    Considerable time was spent on this problem, and none of the following made any difference: un/reinstalling the JRE, un/reinstalling firefox, deleted various java directories from c:\ such as in program files, temp, windows, application data, etc.
    Curiously, using the Java control panel config tool to change Network Settings did have some effect. Selecting Direct Connection for proxy settings would eliminate the nullpointerexception, but also disable the java plugin. the error could be recreated simply by opening the Java Console from within firefox, and typing the "P" command, which reloads the proxy configuration.
    For those who may care to research this further, my exact useragent override string was, between the quotes: "Mozilla/4.0 (Macromedia Flash Player 8/8;compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; (R1 1.5); .NET CLR 1.1.4322) " Now, that parameter was set months ago, and java applets had been working fine until just recently, so clearly there is some odd combination of problems at work. I can't help but suspect some automatic update, perhaps to firefox 2.0.0.7, was responsible?

  • Java.lang.NullPointerException when writing to a textfield..help please?

    Hi guys,
    I'm getting a java.lang.NullPointerException (with no other details of error) when i try to write to a textfield on my GUI. the line: TF1.setText("F"); is where the problem is occurring. that line is within a loop ->
                   if(freq >87 && freq < 100)
                                       System.out.println("Note =F" +freq);
                                       TF1.setText("F");
    the textfield has been constructed and initialised and given an initial value. what i need to happen is the string in the textfield to be constantly updated (overwritten) with the new string.
    the initial value from      TextField TF1= new TextField("", 10);
    TF1.setText("blank");
    works fine, but one the loop above is entered, the current frequency is printed to the command line and then "java.lang.NullPointerException" is thrown.
    I'm struggling with this, and have a deadline to meet so I would much appreciate some help.

    The Gui class is this:
    import java.awt.BorderLayout;
    import java.awt.FlowLayout;
    import java.awt.GridLayout;
    import java.awt.Panel;
    import java.awt.TextField;
    import javax.swing.JFrame;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Gui extends JFrame{
    public static void main(String args[])
    Project project = new Project();
    project.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
         project.setSize( 250, 200 ); // set frame size
    project.setVisible( true ); // display frame
    // new Project(){//constructor
         Panel p, p1;
    p = new Panel();
              p.setLayout (new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.LEFT,5,5));
              project.add(p, BorderLayout.NORTH);
         p1 = new Panel();
         p1.setLayout (new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.LEFT,5,5));
    p1.setLayout (new GridLayout(4,1));
    project.setTitle("Guitar Tuner Prototype");
         TextField TF1= new TextField("", 10);
    TF1.setText("blank");
         p1.add(TF1);
         TF1.setVisible(true);
         p1.setVisible(true);
         p.add(p1);
    //Capture input data from the microphone
    project.captureAudio();
    project.captureThread();
    }//end constructor
    //end main
    The project.java class has the "private TextField TF1; at the top. the project.java class also contains the loop thats writing to the texfield as specified in th original post..

    Sorry for the long post but I would also like to send in wsdls so that someone can try to reproduce the problem. Can anyone tell me what this error means? What could be wrong in my process or wsdls?
    Thank you,
    Meghana

    I think I have found when I get this error and probably I have found a bug. I will appreciate if someone can confirm this.
    In my BPEL project setup, my BPEL process's wsdl file imports another wsdl from different namespace. Here is sample snippet -
    <wsdl:definitions targetNamespace="http://namespace/1">
    <wsdl:import namespace="http://namespace/2" location="resources/another.wsdl"/>
    <plnk:partnerLinkType....../>
    </wsdl:definitions>
    Please let me know. I checked the bundled samples with Oracle BPEL PM and did not find any similar case where process wsdl imports another wsdl.
    Thank you.

  • "java.lang.NullPointerException" using the calender-iview

    Hi,
    We are using SAP NetWeaver Portal 6.0.14.0.0, KM-Version 6.0.14.2.0 and Microsoft Exchange 2000.
    Our SysAdmin has integrated Exchange into the portal and I integrated two calender-iviews (one-month-overview & one-daay-overview). Until last week everything worked fine and everybody was able to see his appointments within this two iviews. But now we get the error-message "
    java.lang.NullPointerException" in this iviews.
    We haven´t changed anything, this error-message appeared suddenly. Has anybody an idea what´s wrong?
    Thanks for help.
    Greetings,
    Sven

    Hi Sven,
    (a) You should definitely check the log files (default.X.trc) to get a more specific idea where the error comes from.
    (b) If you don't realise immediately where the problem comes from when watching the traces, consider opening an OSS message, for at least a NPE should never be thrown on the UI.
    Hope it helps
    Detlev

  • Java.lang.NullPointerException and javaBeans

    I think that part of the problem is due to some wonky requirements, but maybe not. There are three classes:
    lab02.util.MySlider -- has a JSlider and a few other bits
    lab02.util.ColorSelector -- has three JSliders and creates a Color (not a JColorChooser)
    lab02.view.View -- the driver and JFrame, has two ColorSelectors and JTextField
    However, a requirement is to have ColorSelector load as a jar file. The only way I could find of doing that was create two parallel projects: beans and lab2.
    I added MySlider to the palette for ColorSelector, and then added ColorSelector to the palette. Switching over the lab2 project, I added ColorSelector to View. When I received the following error:
    xception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NullPointerException
            at a00720398.lab02.util.MySlider.jSlider1StateChanged(MySlider.java:53)
            at a00720398.lab02.util.MySlider.access$000(MySlider.java:6)
            at a00720398.lab02.util.MySlider$1.stateChanged(MySlider.java:39)I then added both MySlider and ColorSlider to the Library Manager, and then added them to the library for lab2 project. Same result.
    Is it a coding problem? A netbeans problem? A packaging problem? I've tried some System.out statements to try to track it down but couldn't get anywhere.
    Keepin in mind that there are two projects with overlapping package structures, here's the code:

    Hello all,
    I've been trying this morning to configure backup settings in the 10g Enterprise Manager. I logged in as SYSOPER, selected Maintenance/Configure Backup Settings, set the Disk Backup Logation to "e:\oracle_backups", but when I click OK, I get the following:

    Can anyone suggest what's causing this error and how to resolve it?

    I've since discovered the immediate cause of this problem - it was because I was logged in as SYSOPER rather than as SYSDBA. Once I logged back in as SYSDBA, the crash disappeared and the settings were saved successfully.
    It'd be nice if the EM trapped this and gave a proper error message rather than crashing within Java, though.
