JAVA parameters with Config tool

Hi,
I am new to working with the JAVA stack.
Could you please reveal us on the general parameters that we configure with the Config tool.
I have already referred the SNOTE: 723909 which describes all the parameters. But we need the details of the
parameters that are changed frequently with the JAVA stack administration.
Any link to the document would be more helpful.
Thanks & Regards

  • How to rset Java parameters in config tool

    Hello,
My Java server got down after i changed some parameters in Java Heap Memory settings. I did not note down the default values also. I would like to know how to revert into default Java parameters in config tool? Is there any way ?

  • Problems with Config Tool; ADS not running

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to create an Interactive Form, but I get the following error
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.pdfobject.core.PDFObjectRuntimeException: Service call exception; nested exception is:
com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (404) Not Found.
I assume that Adobe Document Services is not running. I typed http://localhost:50000/AdobeDocumentServices/config in my browser. The result was an Error 404, too.
In a documentation sheet about administration of ADS, I found that service IIOP in the config tool should be set to startup mode "always".
When I tried to apply the changes in the config tool, it terminated with a critical error. Logfile says the following:

What can I do about the two problems?

Just for the sake of learning how to use the tool i start with drawing a rectangle then click and drag the gradient tool across the box. i see the gradient line appear but when i release the mouse the gradient line disappears
i end up witha box with a gradient but all my editing has to be done in the gradient box as shown in this screen shot:

  • Log Configuration with config tool

    Hi All,
In my application, I am using Logging.
I have created  Location and Category controllers and it is working fine.My Application specific log files(destinations) are being updated correctly. Now my question are that:
    1. Can we access my application specific Controllers(Location and Category) in ConfigTool and configure them.?
My Application specific Controllers are not appearing in the ConfigTool.
Can you explain the usage Config tool from the perspective of logging?.
    Thanks
    Sampath

    Hi,
Just my question is: can we access/configure our application control Log Controllers from ConfigTool?.
    It is urgent.

  • Rendering java-parameters with JavaWebStart

    Hi,
how can I render java-parameters like -Xms128m to JavaWebStart?
Note, this has to be done within the jnlp-file, the client must not have to do anything!!!

I suppose you've read the Developers guide, if you have you'll know that nothind is said, so I suppose nothing could be done.
Realize to that th -X parameters of the VM are not garanteed to be implemented on al the VM, Sun usually does but third partys are not forced to implement them, so the client may hav a VM not hable to undestand them.
    Abraham.

  • How to deal with #ifdef in .java files with javadoc tool?

My .java file included some '#ifdef' & '#endif' sentence. So when I used javadoc tool to generate the .html files, error happened. Can anyone give me some indication how to resolve the problem, provided that the source code can not be changed because it was written by others. Waiting for your reply and thanks in advance!

Hi, got the same problem, have stuck for all day on this and yield no progress.
    my source code contain
    #ifdef
    and
    #endif
it is source code (not comment), the only compile with a special preprocessing tool call
    "sjpp.jar".
I need to generate Javadoc there.
    the error is

  • How to  change host name entry for java instance using config tool

    Hi Gurus,
We are trying to invoke DR for dual stack SAP PI system.Strategy followed is BR Tool  backup and restore method.
We are able bring up ABAP stack and it is still pointing to production Java stack.
Could any one please guide us with step by step procedure to change entries and bringing up java stack for DR system.
While bringing up java instance we are facing below issues
From starting framework it goes back to collecting data stack.
    Thanks,

    Hi Avadhesh,
For dual stack systems backup/restore method is not recommended procedure for DR.
As it will have hostnames from Production.
Good approach will be to have export of Production Java stack and import the same into DR  OR
Have the DR system installed using virtual hostnames which are similar to Production hostname.
When DR needs to be operational enable these virtual hostnames.
    Hope this helps.

  • Overwrite java parameters with environment variables or other mechanism???

I am using several java programs on my machine. Each of them uses some deeply nested startup script so I have no chance to modify the parameters of the java command.
I would need to change certain parameters though, e.g. the heap size or certain system properties.
Is there a way to do this by e.g. setting environment variables or modifying a user-specific configuration file?
I am using jdk 1.5.0_06 on Linux (Ubuntu).

Well the ones I am dealing with do not, unfortunately.
I am also interested in a general way to tune the JVM settings without modifying each and every call statement.
Surely there must be some mechanism to achieve this??

  • Remove java paramters using config tool

    Hi All,
What is the benefits from the following parameters? because i want to delete it from  java settings of EP 7.0 with ESS
    -Dorg.xml.sax.driver=com.sap.engine.lib.xml.parser.SAXParser
    -Dorg.w3c.www.protocol.http.connections.max=100
    -Dorg.w3c.www.protocol.http.connections.connTimeout=10000
    -Dorg.w3c.www.protocol.http.connections.timeout=10000
    Please advice,
    regards,
    OS4SE
    Edited by: Osama4SE on May 3, 2010 10:37 AM

Described parameters are used for following things.
    1. Dorg.w3c.www.protocol.http.connections.max
Use:- The maximum number of connections the client side API is allowed to use to external servers.
    type
    2. Dorg.w3c.www.protocol.http.connections.timeout
    Use:-
The timeout on the client socket
    3. Dorg.w3c.www.protocol.http.connections.conntime
    Use:-
The Connection timings to the RAC instances
Hope this information will help you.
    Thanks,

  • Java Webstart with Config Files

    Hi,
Whats the best way to deploy a 3rd party jar program with a config file in the same dir level? Do I need to jar it all up into another jar again?
    Cheers,
    John.

The normal practice qould be to jar up the config. file.
You might jar it along qith the classes, but I
would tend to give it a separate jar and simply
add a call to the 'config.jar' to the resources
element along with the main jar.

  • SAP Note 723909 (Java VM): At what node to enter in Config Tool?

    Hello all,
I have problems to understand where to enter the information from the SAP Note 723909 in Config Tool since it has multiple nodes in Config Tool.
    I see it's possible at:
cluster-data > instance  (Tab: "Servers General")
    cluster-data > instance > dispatcher  (Tab: "General")
    cluster-data > instance > server  (Tab: "General")
Or do I have to copy the information in all nodes?
Do I have to adapt the combo box "Max heap size (in MB)" also in all nodes?
Thank you for answering my questions! Rewarding Points (for helpful answers) guaranteed.
    Philipp

    Achim,
thank you for your helpful and quick answer.
So the parent node "cluster-data > instance" is not of interest to me?
Or when I edit this one, does it reversely copy the data to the child node?
My (second) problem is, that I already edited the settings ... I don't feel confident, that the settings really match.
    I have 12GB RAM machine.
My cluster-data>Instance "Max heap size" is 2048
My cluster-data>Instance>Dispatcher "Max heap size" is 170
My cluster-data>Instance>Server "Max heap size" is 1024
(Excerpt of) Java Parameters in cluster-data>Instance is
    -Xmx2048m
    -Xms2048m
    -Djco.jarm=1
    -XX:PermSize=512m
    -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
    -XX:NewSize=320m
    -XX:MaxNewSize=320m
(Excerpt of) Java Parameters in cluster-data>Instance>Server is
    -XX:MaxPermSize=256M
    -XX:PermSize=256M
    -Xms1024M
    -XX:NewSize=171M
    -XX:MaxNewSize=171M
Am I right with my feeling that these settings somehow differ to much?
From what you say do I have to copy (overwrite) the settings in cluster-data>Instance>Server with the ones from cluster-data>Instance?
Thank you for helping me out!
    Philipp

  • Change J2ee parameters on WAS 640-J2EE add in -config tool

I have started the config tool to change java paramters per SAP.
However I notice that config tool shows dispatcher and server and below that an instance (xxx-318782 for example) which has a dispatcher and server also.....
Why is this and which do I modify to change java parameters?
Alos where can I find the setting, it is somewhere under services directory?
    Thanks
    John R

    Hi,
the dispatcher and server nodes that appear right below the root of the tree in the Config tool contain global properties (services and managers' properties). This means those properties are used globally instead of the default properties. For more info, refer to this page: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/36/e71bbee9ab4677a744d4c4484b0bf4/frameset.htm
Next, the dispatcher and server you find under the instance xxx, are actually the elements that you've installed for your system. Changing a property on any of them applies locally, i.e. to the corresponding node (server or dispatcher).
To set java parameters, you need to click on the dispatcher or server (depending on which element's java props you need to modify). On the right side, under General tab you'll see the Java parameters field. Here is the relevant documentation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/39/7796e0a7be604ab63c2924045710a8/frameset.htm
    Hope that helps!

  • Error starting the Config Tool with NW04s Sneak Preview

    All...
I am running the Java NW04s Sneak Preview (SP9).
When I try to start the config tool, I get the following error on the dos session
<b>The system cannot find the path specified.
    Program terminated abnormally
    Press any key to continue...</b>
I realize that this is probably a very simple problem to fix... so can anyone tell me how?
Also... when I log on to the Visual Administrator or the NetWeaver Administrator, I cannot edit any parameters.  I have tried logging in as "Administrator" and as "admin".  Is the Sneak Preview locked out, or am I doing something wrong?

I did check the bat file, and it says:

I have JAVA_HOME set in my environment variables.
