Java Webstart with Config Files

Hi,
Whats the best way to deploy a 3rd party jar program with a config file in the same dir level? Do I need to jar it all up into another jar again?

The normal practice qould be to jar up the config. file.
You might jar it along qith the classes, but I
would tend to give it a separate jar and simply
add a call to the 'config.jar' to the resources
element along with the main jar.

Jar files download problems in Java Webstart with JRE 1.6

We have encountered a few problems in Java Webstart with JRE 1.6
In JRE 1.5, the jar files are getting downloaded onto the client
machine with it's original names.
Example :
Server File Name : acm.jar
Client File Name : RMacm.jar
But in JRE 1.6, the jar files are getting downloaded with improper file names.
Example :
Server File Name : acm.jar
Client File Name : 4fb074cc-66fc7407
Moreover the path itself seems to be invalid.
Example Path :
JRE 1.5 path:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application
Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javaws\https\D17.16.23.11\P443\DMtest\DMwebStart
JRE 1.6 path:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application
Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\12
Due to this, we are facing Classpath problems.
What changes do we have to make to the code, for Java
Webstart to work ?
We are using JBoss 4.0.4 and JDK 1.5 in the Server
On the client machine, we have IE 6 and JRE 1.6.01

I presume, since EJB's do not - directly, at least - communicate with a web browser, that you intend for "Java WebStart" to somehow invoke an EJB?? Java WebStart is a technology for running client-side (Java) applications from the web browser - perceptively, the application resides on the server, but technically it, like an applet, is downloaded to the client and run there. Unlike an applet, however, it is not constrained by "sandbox" restrictions and does not have to be re-downloaded each time it is invoked - though the process allows for automagically updating the client-side with new versions of the application. ;) So, with this in mind, to "use Java WebStart with EJB" means little more than deploying an EJB client application with Java WebStart as the distribution channel.

JAAS problem with config file

EJB application, with JCA and JAAS.
My problem is, that I'm not able to read the config file. where i have to copy the .conf file that my application find that file.

I've done the following tasks:
Searched for jazn-data.xml file of OC4J-installation.
Added information of jaas.conf-file to a new entry of application.
e.g.

An issue (bug?) with Config File VIs?!

Hello to all!
When using Config File VIs I encountered a very interesting
and killing (me) issue.
I spent an hour before I knew where's a bug.
(Maybe because I'm a novice to LabView).
From one side, the bug was mine: I used a "for loop" to write string values to keys in section and provided to the loop an array that could be empty sometimes. And I absolutely forgot that "for loop" executes at least one time anyway even if array is empty.
Ok, no problem, then the function "Write Key" should say "ERROR" and I would find my bug at once on the output of my "for loop".
BUT IT DOESN'T DO IT. It says "OK".
And only the next function "write key (string value in my case)"
fails saying "Error: Config Data Registry.vi [get data]: invalid object 0". I certainly think that something wrong with this "write key", but what means this message?!
Ok, I found who responds for this (the previous "write key" in for loop).
But the most interesting thing is that if you set after this bad "for loop" one more such "for loop" you don't get error on the output of the 2nd "for loop" too. It appears only after "write key" that goes after 2nd "for loop".
Well, forget it. Just look at attached files.
Something wrong in this "Write Key" function if error goes far beyond its real source of arrising.
Are you agreed? Or maybe I'm wrong?

Hi Ben, this was a good hint, last time I had problems with that zero iteration issue, I worked with LV 6.1 and kept in mind, that the shift register output was the last value stored in the Shift register output node, it reminded to the use of an uninitialized SR. If somebody still has 6.1 on the machine, it would be nice to test this. But the test with 7.1 showed you are right, the SR- input is reached through. Great!

Error in running package with config file

I have a 2012 package and it is referring to a config file which has the DB connectionstring. This config file was created through the "Package Configuration Organizer". When I execute the package through VS 2012, it works fine(Reads the config

Problem with config file ssis

I have changed the server name from dev to test in config file, it worked fine but when I try to change it back to dev it reflect the change. Package still executes fro test configuration. What could be the problem. I have reloaded the package many times
also.

What I have noticed is that when I create a new config for a package and edit the server name, it is reflecting only once. Next time it is not changing.
Let me explain how I configured my package
-created a variable called servername and on configuration manager I have edited the expression to map property:Servername to the variable I have created .
-Next under configuration manager I have selected the value of variable which I'm editing by opening the config file in notepad

But i would choose MYSQL. Mapping files are used to store information correctly into database to avoid the need to write new code for each type of XML files. And can choose any programing langugage for implementation such as Java and C#.........and currently still looking on Java or VB

Java 3D with .obj files

Hi,
I'm pretty new to Java3D and so on a bit of an unphill struggle right now. I am trying to load a 3d obj file (that i created myself) into my program. It is a simple boat with a sail and a hull, I am trying to animate these parts of the object separately.
I have added the two different components to seperate TransformGroups (one called "boat" one called "sail") and the sail is a child of boat. I can move the boat around with my mouse, but when i try and rotate the sail (using .rotY(20D)) the sail rotates from the centre of its location in the object (i.e it moves away from the mast)
so my question is, how do i rotate this part of the object from one side only? is there a way to find out the length of it? then i could use the rotate "around the corner" method possibly.
Any help or theories on how to do this would be greatly appreciated - as i said, i'm trying to learn the basics so i can get on to some trickier things, and seem to be hitting hurdle after hurdle!.

for more info look at j3d tutorial, chapter 3, section 3.2. the .obj loader in j3d is not a full implementation of the file format, but you can extend it (it's possible to add colors in j3d program directly or extend the loader) and add what you need or you can write your own loader. i recommend to search the web for better implementation of obj. file loader written in java.

Distributing a java application with fewer files

I'd like to distribute an application with the JRE but would like to reduce the number of files in the distribution. The JRE alone requires several JARs and other license files. Can the JRE be repackaged into a consolidated JAR with my application without breaking the licensing rules?

This does not sound like a Java problem. Go into your W7 control panel and make sure the ODBC driver is correct. Make a new DSN for your system and see if you can connect. You may have to reinstall the ODBC, it souds like something there is having a problem.

Use ProcessBuilder to execute a java program with a file piped as input

Hi,
I am trying to execute a java program passing in input file as argument. I have to do this by forking a process and am using Processbuilder.
I have a main function which calls the executeCliTopologyDesigner method. I get a Java I/O exception
Caught IOException: Cannot run program "$JAVA_HOME/bin/java oracle.apps.fnd.provisioning.cli.TopologyDesigner ": java.io.IOException: error=2, No such file or directory
Can you please let me know if I am missing something?

I changed my command as I need a different classpath.

Having trouble with config files

I am new to text files, what is going on. No matter what network I am on Arch assigns itself 192.168.0.2 My net at home is a 1.1 at school they have 172.16.16.xxx.
This is preventing me from

Please help me out maybe we can open an email or phone dialog since that seems to be faster
