Java portlet caching problem

I am facing portlet state problem.
Problem is below,
step 1. I opened a page in java portlet, then set some filters for my list boxes and for check boxes, then executed i got all my search results,
then closed the page.
step 2. opened page again, which opens in the same portlet as step 1, then this portlet displays the page with results instead of default page
I tried setting _nfls parameter to false in request URL, but still it is loading the  page with state as in step1.(i'e page with filters set and with results)
Any suggestions on how to overcome this?

Raju,
Hope this thread helps you.

  • Forms10g JAR and Java Plugin Caching problems

    Hello,
    Does anybody know following problem:
    We are deploying the forms java classes in a jar-file
    signed with our own certificate.
    We have a our own second (JavaBeans for forms) and a third jar file signed and deploying it in the right order
    archive = 'f90...jar,f2.jar,f3.jar'
    We are using the Sun Java Plugin 1.4.2 on the Client.
    Everything starts and works correct when it loads
    from the Application server the first time.
    Then the jar-files are in the cache.
    If you restart your Browser the Java Console hangs...
    No error messages in the console
    If we only load the forms jar file starting works
    except the error message in the console:
    Deactivating Caching also helps.
    Any ideas why there are problems with the
    Caching?

  • I am facing a caching problem in the Web-Application that I've developed us

    Dear Friends,
    I am facing a caching problem in the Web-Application that I've developed using Java/JSP/Servlet.
    Problem Description: In this application when a hyperlink is clicked it is supposed to go the Handling Servlet and then servlet will fetch the data (using DAO layer) and will store in the session. After this the servlet will forward the request to the view JSP to present the data. The JSP access the object stored in the session and displays the data.
    However, when the link is clicked second time then the request is not received by our servlet and the cached(prev data) page is shown. If we refresh the page then request come to the servlet and we get correct data. But as you will also agree that we don't want the users to refresh the page again and again to get the updated data.
    We've included these lines in JSPs also but it does no good:
    <%
    response.setHeader("Expires", "0");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control" ,"no-cache, must-revalidate");
    response.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-store");
    %>
    Request you to please give a solution for the same.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Mohan

    However, when the link is clicked second time then the request is not received by our servlet Impossible mate.. can you show your code. You sure there are no javascript errors ?
    Why dont you just remove your object from the session after displaying the data from it and see if your page "automatically" hits the servlet when the link is clicked.
    cheers..

  • Creating a web provider for java portlets

    Hi all,
    i'm using
    - Oracle Database Server 8i (Rel3 - 8.1.7.1.1)
    - Oracle 9i Application Server (Rel2 - 1.0.2.2.2)
    - Oracle Portal 3.0.9.8.2
    I'm trying to crate a web provider in order to use java portlets, but there's a problem with:
    "An unexpected error occurred: ORA-29531: no method getPortletList in class oracle/webdb/provider/web/HttpProviderDispatcher"
    Does anyone know why?
    I've searched for the class mentioned above but I can't find it..
    thanks for the reply,
    Alessio ([email protected])

    The problem is probably caused by prohttp.jar becoming invalid or corrupt inside the database. The file is found in <IAS_HOME>/portal/lib (or jlib). Use the following command to reload.
    loadjava -resolve <portal user>/<portal pass> <file path>/prohttp.jar

  • Java Portlet (JSR 168) development with Portal

    Hello,
    We have been trying to dive back into Portal development lately. The release of 9.0.4 with support for standards-based portlets has convinced us to begin looking at 9iAS Portal as a practical portal product. We have a development environment setup with a workin 9.0.4 portal.
    Digging through the available docs on the portal studio site, I have come across a couple documents alluding to the installation of a portlet-container. Now, I have already downloaded the JSR 168 framework files. It seems that a good portion of this 'portlet container' consists of these files.
    The problem is that the documentation that is available is nothing more than a step by step set of instructions for setting up an OC4J instance with this 'portlet container', configuring an Oracle database for portlet customizations, and deploying a sample ear into the OC4J instance.
    This does nothing for me.
    What I want is documentation that indicates the requirements necessary to make a JSR-168 compliant portlet (even a 'hello world') exposed through portal with the least amount of effort, and with no references to proprietary tools. I would like to see instructions that are tailored towards a generic J2EE provider, not an OC4J one. I already have a very functional set of tools that should be able to accomodate a JSR-168 producer. We have had many problems with OC4J leading us to try to avoid it at all costs.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    -Sean

    Hello
    I am probably not clear.
    In the OracleAS Portal architecture Java portlet are remote from the portal middle tier.
    In the non standard world (JPDK Portlet), the Portal Middlet tier use SOAP over HTTP to call the portlets.
    In the Standard world (JSR-168), the Portal Middle Tier will use WSRP (Web Service Remote Portlet) to call the portlets. When you use the Oracle JSR-168 container inside OC4J, these portlets are automatically accessible over remotely using WSRP.
    So, as you can see the Portal Middle Tier needs to support WSRP to be able to use JSR-168 portlet. And OracleAS 10g 904 does not currently support WSRP registration. It is why we have the "OracleAS Portal Verification Service for WSRP", to allow you to test your portlet.
    To be able to use JSR-168 (with WSRP) portlet on you internal Portal you'll have to install the OracleAS Portal Standard Developer Preview that will be available soon.
    Hope that clarify my previous statements.

  • PI Caching Problem

    Hello Experts,
    we are faced with a strange problem. We are using SAP PI 7.1 EHP 1 and we have developed some integration processes. Now we have transported our software component to another SAP PI 7.1 without EHP 1. Transport also was successful.
    Everything worked fine. Then we did some changes in our software component and transported it again. Now we are faced with the problem that one of our four intergration processes have not been upgraded after the transport. In the sxi_cache the integration process always have the date of the first transport of our software component.
    Can anybody help? All cache refreshes and a restart of the PI dont solved the problem.
    We also did a copy of this integration process and activated it. The copy is never shown in the sxi_cache. It seem like the integration process doesn't exist. But he is there.
    Have anybody ever had the same problem? How you solved this?
    Thanks for your help in advance.

    Go to http://<host>:<java port>/rwb/sub/cache_monitoring/notification_table and look into problems tab to get more details regarding cache problems on your system.
    You can fix the problem by creating a new version of the object in dev and transporting it
    OR
    Doing a full cache refresh in SXI_CACHE

  • BEA 8.1 SP3 / Java Portlets replaceDynamicMarkup() Javascript error

    Hi
    I have been using BEA Portal SP2 for a while and have swapped over to SP3 but I am now seeing a Javascript error in the BEA portal page within a javascript method replaceDynamicMarkup(). This occurs when I have multiple Java Portlets on a page (can be the same portlet multiple times) and you maximise the portlet either programmatically or via the maximise button.
    The problem appears to be that when you maximise the portlet, the contents of the replaceDynamicMarkup do not change and try to access html associated with portlets not being displayed on the page. For example, the method with one portlet maximized and with 2+ portlets in normal mode is the same.
    With one portlet maximised, so only one visible:
    function replaceDynamicMarkup()
    {  var elem = document.getElementById("0_32");
    elem.innerHTML = "<span id='0_32'>SP3Test</span>";
    var elem = document.getElementById("0_38");
    elem.innerHTML = "<span id='0_38'>SP3Test</span>";
    because the other portlet isnt present both netscape 7 and IE 6 throw a "null" Javascript errors. As there is no check to ensure that the element is actually retrieved from the dom. Is there a workaround / fix for this?
    Thanks
    Andrew.

    Hi,
    I am not sure whether i am identifying the problem correctly or not, but we have seen this behavior with the portlets, as when we have two instances of a portlet on the same page and both are using same JavaScript function ,since all the portles are included in the same page we need to use Encode namespace for the java script functions so that a portlet Instance can identify its Java script function correctly
    While writing javascript function use
    function <portlet:nameSpace/>doSubmit()
    alert("good Morning ");
    While calling Javascript function use
    <input type=button value="Sumbit" onClick="javascript:<portlet:nameSpace/>doSubmit()"/>
    See if this can solve your Java Script problem.
    Thanks

  • My Upgrading Java Applets Cache won't finish

    I had to reinstall Java 6.0 and each time I try to run something requiring Java, it doesn't load. All I get is a box stating Upgrading Java Applets Chache, it runs about half way and then quits. I am getting very frustrated after working on this for 2 days.
    It says "Please wait while your stored Java Applets are updated for Java SE 6". Runs for about 20 secs and then stops and the box disappears. Does anybody have any suggestions? I am not very computer savvy so please explain in simple terms.
    Thanks

    Hi
    I had the exact same problem. took me days to find the solution, hope it works for you.
    Click on the START button bottom left on the screen, Then look for the CONTROL PANEL button and click, (this should bring up lots of icons for programmes) on some computers its under themes and sttings I think. Click on the JAVA icon this brings up a CONTROL PANEL. Click on SETTINGS at the bottom, then click DELETE FILES. (this took a while to complete on my computer) Just to make sure after you've done this bring up the JAVA CONTROL PANEL again but this time click on ADVANCED. Then at the bottom theres is Miscellaneous, click on this and there should be JAVA QUICK STARTER with a box ticked next to it, Click on the tick and get rid of it then click on OK..
    Try a website that uses Java. the cache box might appear again but just hit cancel. When I tried this i was able to use Java again.
    Hope it works

  • Portlet caching

    Portlet caching
    Scenario: An application consisting of several related portlets on different pages.
    Overview:
    1- Summary Status page displays summary status in a portlet. The status is obtained from a pageflow call to a database.
    2- Detail Status page displays detailed status in a portlet for several objects. The detailed status is obtained from a pageflow call to a database. From this page a call, via a link, is made to an Update Page.
    3- Update page contains a form where the status for an object(s) is entered and written to the database.
    Functionality:
    When the database is updated using the Update Page the status should be "immediately" visible to users who did the update when they navigate from the Update Page to either the Summary Status Page or the Detail Status Page.
    Problem:
    After updating the database the newly added values are not immediately available to the user who did the update. Other users logging onto the system see the updates but not the updater.
    Can someone provide some insight into how I can make the data immediately available? I would think that once the database is updated that a call to a status page, which does a pageflow call to the database, should update the data for the user.
    I have turned the Render Cacheable property in the portlets properties to false disabling caching but this has no effect.
    Thanks for your assistance.
    Everette

    Simon,
    The current version of Oracle Portal 3.0.6.6.5 and 3.0.7.6.2 does not handle web portlet caching as it is supposed to. This issue is fixed in the next release of 9iAS Portal which should be available the early half of this year. I apologize for the confusion in this.
    Also, you always use the parallel.jar that comes with your 9iAS Portal installation. The one we provide in the JPDK is for users of 9iAS Portal Early Adopters Release. Please do not use if you are using the production version of 9iAS Portal.

  • PDK Java Portlet looses edit default values everytime I redeploy EAR

    Hello All,
    I have a PDK Java portlet (Portal - Oracle 10g). It works as expected perfectly till I redeploy my EAR. As soon as I redeploy EAR, it looses the settings that user had set using edit defaults link. Is there anyway to prevent this? Application runs on OC4J server.
    I urgently need solution to this problem and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kinnaree

    Just to be sure, you are registering the PDK producer with a WebCenter portal?
    Or are you just using the PDK provider in an oracle portal environment and you don't use webcenter?
    If you are using webcenter, can you also test this behavior in Oracle portal? Do you also loose the values in oracle portal or is it just in webcenter? This way we can see if it's a webcenter or portlet issue.
    If you loose the values on both the oracle portal and webcenter side, than it has something to do with the portlet. If they are working correctly in oracle portal, than it might be a bug in the PDK bridge in Webcenter.

  • Oracle PDK Java Portlet

    Hello,
    I am using jDeveloper 9.0.4 and currently have a stand-alone server. I create a new project, then create a Portlet using the Item Oracle PDK Java Portlet. The project is generated, however when I try to run the jsp to see the output, I receive a null pointer error.
    There is a line that says:
    PortletRenderRequest pReq = (PortletRenderRequest)request.getAttribute(HttpCommonConstants.PORTLET_RENDER_REQUEST);
    String name = pReq.getUser().getName();
    If I comment out these two lines I am able to view the jsp file. However, if I leave this as is and upload to the Oracle 10g Application Server, register the portlet, I am able to add this portlet to my pagegroup and it will show the username you are currently logged in as.
    My question is how can I set up my jDeveloper so I can run this jsp without having to upload and register the portlet?
    Thank you

    Hello Kevin
    However, if they enter a wrong password or username, will it bring up the screen indicating the wrong credentials were entered and the user needs to try again?
    tug: To alert portal that the cedentials are wrong you have to raise an AuthenticationException that will show the "login message" in the portlet.
    I am trying to figure out if this tutorial makes a url based external application or if this is a web based.
    tug: in my example I am using the SSO External Application just to send the credential information to the portlet and the login mechanism is fully programmatic. (it is not related to URL based portlet.
    Also, once you have created the java class, SQLProviderInstance were do you put it on the server?
    tug: in my case I am creating a portlet from scratch, so it is a J2EE application deploys using WAR/EAR file.
    The application I am trying to do this for is a web based authentication that has a username/password field, but also 5 hidden fields. I have sucessfully configured the application with external application, but I am having problems when I am trying to use a url based portlet.
    tug: Please explain step by step how you have done the portlet. Also I will invite you to using the Web Clipping portlet instead of URL Portlet since it is browser based, easy to use and support also SSO External Application

  • Anyone using Java Portlet Tools?

    Is anyone using the Java Portlet Tools to develop portlets?
    You can read about it here:
    http://dev2dev.bea.com/pub/a/2006/05/java-portlet-tools.html
    I was told by BEA that this is unsupported but I don't think thats going to be a problem.
    If you are not using this then how do you build portlets in java without resorting to scriptlet code?

    Thanks for the reply Chris.
    It looks like the portlet tools does 3 things:
    1 - filters content like the DotNet WCC http module to make existing apps behave when run inside the portal
    2 - drops a bean in the request automatically for you so that you can access portlet functionality on the jsp with JSTL and no scriptlet code
    3 - gives you some custom tags to read and write session prefs and publish and subscribe to events without javascript
    Items 2 and 3 are very desirable to me for new portlet development.
    So who is using this toolkit and are you using it with JSF or Struts or just straight JSP?

    I have developped a Java portlet with a customization display, depending user belongs a specific OID group or not.
    I used a preparedStatement to call the wwsec_api.is_user_in_group PL/SQL procedure.
    My problem is that it seems that OID does not close connections as our portal falls after 2 or 3 days when I install this portlet in production.
    Therefore I wonder if there is a bug in the API wwsec_api.is_user_in_group (if it close OID connection after returning the boolean result).
    Is there a more efficient way in a Java portlet to check if a user belongs an OID group ?
    Is there a bug in wwsec_api.is_user_in_group ?
    Thanks for your help,
    Best Regards,
    Jean-Christophe

    Hi Rajiv,
    I tried out the following code for getting the database reference which I got from some posts on net.
    tcDataProvider db;
                        tcUtilityFactory tcu;
                        ConfigurationClient.ComplexSetting config = ConfigurationClient.getComplexSettingByPath("Discovery.CoreServer");
                        final Hashtable env2 = config.getAllSettings();
                        tcu = new tcUtilityFactory(env2, "xelsysadm","Password");
                        tcBaseUtility mBaseUtil = (tcBaseUtility) tcu.getUtility("Thor.API.Base.tcUtilityOperationsIntf");
                        DBReference=mBaseUtil.getDataBase();
    But when I execute the code, I get an error :
    Error while getting utility Thor.API.Base.tcUtilityOperationsIntf[Ljava.lang.StackTraceElement;@619eeaaThis must be at the getUtility method call.
    Can you please guide me as to what I might be doing wrong here?
    Thanks,
