  • Are New versions of Java Sun Certification Exams are available In India ?

    Hello,
    Any one tell me, Are these SCJP 6.0, SCWCD 5.0 & SCBCD 1.5 exams available in India or Not.
    Thanks

    its an online international certification.. Wrong.
    im pretty sure its available all over the world.Wrong again. It's not available in countries where it's illegal to export US products to. Places like Iran and North Korea.
    It's probably also unavailable whereever Sun and Prometric have no offices.
    It should also available to people like you who resurrect long dead threads with incorrect information.

  • New version of Java Developer Certification

    Hi!
    I' ve done the NW04 Dev Consultant Java Certification and am now wondering - as NW7.1 with Java EE 5.0 gets into Ramp-Up - when a new version (with a delta certification?) will be available for this educational path.
    Additionally I would like to take either Portal or ABAP certification - could anybody tell me which of these two skills would better fit to my skill set and be more valuable in future?
    Regards,
    Thomas

    I think you can do the Portal certification with little effort, at least I did. I just read the training material once (I had some experience in the Portal) and certified.
    ABAP is really a big plus, even if you just develop portal/java/webdynpro/caf applications or components. But I personally wouldn't spend the time to get certified in it. It might be a better idea to go for the Sun Java 5 certification.

    Regards
    danialI haven't seen anything like Java+SQLServer2000 certification. I know that you can get MCSE certification from Microsoft that has a branch that includes SQLServer2000, and you can get Java and J2SE certification from SUN. You can also get Oracle certification, which is a much better fit if you are thinking of combining a DBMS and Java.
    Microsoft and Sun don't get along, and nethier do their respective softwares (Sun is one of the only companies that took Microsoft to court and won.). Microsoft did release a beta JDBC driver awhile ago. I'm not sure if it has made it to production status yet. Doesn't really matter though, because Microsoft will guarantee that Java and SQLServer2000 will be hard to make work, the JDBC driver will be buggy, and performance of SQLServer2000/JDBC will be guaranteed to be significantly slower than any SQLServer2000/.net implementation.
    Microsoft has always made sure that a competing integrated technology looks bad when compared to Microsoft's. A perfect example is when Microsoft wrote an Oracle ODBC/OLEDB driver that supported Oracle under Microsoft's Visual InterDev. After they had gotten 1000's of Oracle customers up and running on Visual InterDev, they pulled support for the driver, made sure it didn't work in the next release, then provided the Oracle customer with a smooth and easy transition to SQL Server, that the customer had to take, or there applications were not going to work for 8 months. This particular move by Microsoft made my architectural decision look completely stupid (VID * Oracle), so I'm still angry about it. (BTW, subsequently Oracle is providing a working OLEDB driver that works well with VID, but there really was an 8-12 months swing when they did not work together).
    Yikes, I really got off the subject here, sorry... Must be all the caffeine and sugar I've had over the last 48 hours...

  • Infinite loop error after using Java Sun Tutorial for Learning Swing

    I have been attempting to create a GUI following Sun's learning swing by example (example two): http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/learn/example2.html
    In particular, the following lines were used almost word-for-word to avoid a non-static method call problem:
    SwingApplication app = new SwingApplication();
    Component contents = app.createComponents();
    frame.getContentPane().add(contents, BorderLayout.CENTER);I believe that I am accidentally creating a new instance of the gui class repeatedly (since it shows new GUI's constantly and then crashes my computer), possibly because I am creating an instance in the main class, but creating another instance in the GUI itself. I am not sure how to avoid this, given that the tutorials I have seen do not deal with having a main class as well as the GUI. I have googled (a nice new verb) this problem and have been through the rest of the swing by example tutorials, although I am sure I am simply missing a website that details this problem. Any pointers on websites to study to avoid this problem would be appreciated.
    Thanks for your time-

    um, yeah, you definitely have a recursion problem, that's going to create an infinite loop. you will eventually end up an out of memory error, if you don't first get the OS telling you you have too many windows. interestingly, because you are deferring execution, you won't get a stack overflow error, which you expect in an infinite recursion.
    lets examine why this is happening:
    in main, you call new MGui().
    new MGui() creates a runnable object which will be run on the event dispatch thread. That method ALSO calls new MGui(), which in turn ALSO creates a new object which will be run on the event dispatch thead. That obejct ALSO calls new MGui(), which ...
    well, hopefully you get the picture.
    you should never unconditionally call a method from within itself. that code that you have put in the constructor for MGui should REALLY be in the main method, and the first time you create the MGui in the main method as it currently exists is unnecessary.
    here's what you do: get rid of the MGui constructor altogether. since it is the implicit constructor anyway, if it doesn't do anything, you don't need to provide it.
    now, your main method should actually look like this:
    public static void main( String [] args ) {
      SwingUtilities.invokeLater( new Runnable() {
        public void run() {
          MGui app = new MGui();
          app.createAndShowGUI();
    }// end mainyou could also declare app and call the constructor before creating the Runnable, as many prefer, because you would have access to it from outside of the Runnable object. The catch there, though, is that app would need to be declared final.

  • Can I get java/sun on my iPad2?

    The site I wish to have requires.  Java/sun.    Can I have that on my iPad2?      thanks.   [email protected]

    If you do want to run Java apps (or even applets), your best bet is subscribing to a 24/7 remote desktop service. It won't have the best responsiveness (after all, it's remote desktop) but you'll be able to run and operate(!) your stuff on your iPad.
    For example, AlwaysOnPC has JRE 1.7.0 installed, also freely usable by users.
    It's a highly popular service (see e.g. http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/how-you-will-want-watch-flash-only-videos-and- use-dynamic-flash-content for a review of it runnign Flash.) You can even try it for free on your desktop at http://www.alwaysonpc.com/signup.php . Note that there might be other, similar services as well.
    If, for some reason, the desktop version doesn't work for you, let me know if you have a Java app you'd like to be tested so that you can avoid having to pay for the iOS version of AlwaysOnPC so that you can test it.

    there aren't many (recognised) certificates that cover secure implementation

  • I still have this "SHA1 with RSA" problem in Java (Sun, are you listening?)

    I posted this (in bold) a few days ago:
    I obtained a CSR from GoDaddy. The only cipher suite GoDaddy supports is "SHA1 with RSA", which is not in the list of Java 1.6.0_01 supported ciphers.
    Can I get "SHA1 with RSA" for Java somewhere?
    Should I revoke my CSR from GoDaddy and get a CSR from somebody who can provide me with a Java-supported cipher?
    If the answer to the above question is "yes", to whom should I go for the CSR?
    Thanks.
    It was suggested that I try another certificate provider. I tried Thawte. Here is the response I got from Thawte (in bold):
    Unfortunately all Certificate Authorities will have their certificates on SHA1
    with RSA as that is the latest in encryption technology. We have a product
    that you can use to sign your Java files, which is called the JavaSoft code
    signing certificate.
    For the setup that you are attempting, our SSL certificates will not work. I recommend
    that you attempt to update the Java version that you are using in order to ascertain
    if this will resolve the issue that you are experiencing.
    I am running JRE 1.6.0_01. That is the latest version of Java, to my knowledge. And yet it does not support "SHA1 with RSA".
    What can I do to get Java to support "SHA1 with RSA".
    Thanks.

    Blimey, everybody is crazy?
    Can I suggest you post this issue to the java-security mailing list. You will definitely get a response from Sun there. [email protected]:

  • Upgrade From the Microsoft VM to Java Sun JRE

    Hello,
    I am trying to upgrade my applet to java sun 1.5.
    I am using this tutorials:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/upgrade-guide/
    the problem is,
    when I run the applet local, I am not calling to the JAR file. instead I am using the class files. (only when I release an update I create a JAR file).
    so why am I getting this error?
    I understand that this error occur when the jar file is unsigned.

    Well I found the problem
    I was using <applet> tag in the html instead of <object>.
    but now I get another problem.
    I had some issues with the 1.5 jre so I downgraded to 1.4.2_16.
    I get 2 wired errors now.
    this is one:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: il/co/d/coreapplet/Fonts/FontReader
         at il.co.d.coreapplet.ConfigManager.<init>(ConfigManager.java:33)
         at il.co.d.coreapplet.Manager.init(Manager.java:113)
         at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)There is no problem with the FontReader class. the path and java home are correct.
    I dont know what does he want from me.
    the other error is: Server returned HTTP response code: 403 for URL
    I didn't get this error on microsoft VM and not on JVM 1.5
    when I press 'S' at the java console, I can still see some jre1.5 properties. maybe it related somehow....

  • Java 2 Certification

    For anyone who's certified, what book/s do you recommend to prepare for the tests?
    Thanks,
    Heath

    HI,
    I got my cert last week.
    I highly recommend "Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide" by Roberts, Heller & Enerst ( known as RHE )
    I also reccomend you get into a good certification forum. www.javaranch.com has excellent and very professional forums on almost every aspect of java - including special cert forums.
    Do as many mock exams as you can in the run up to the test but first go through your book twice as mock exams are time-consuming and you want to be passing them to stick at it.
    Hope that helps and good luck!
