Java thread that start executing everyday on given time

Hello
I need to write an java file using thread
that can start executing everyday on given time say everyday 14:00.
Can any one have any example..?

If on a Windows platform, you could run your Java class via a [Task Scheduler|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308569].

Okay Iam at the ending stages of a Java Assignment that is a MySql database, Hibernate for Mapping with a Java Server Faces front-end. All I need to do now is send emails at set time every week. You can use the possibilities of your operating system, in this case Ubuntu.
Just drop a shell script that runs your java program in the /etc/cron.weekly directory.

Getting two midi threads to start at exactly the same time

Hello, is it possible to get two threads to start at exactly the same time because when I start two threads or more at the same time that playback midi using a synthesizer, they never start at exactly the same time.
Any help would be appreciated.

Use the Behavior framework for making changes in the scene. This uses an internal j3d thread which is in sync with the rendering thread.

I want to execute other java thread in the JNI.

Hi!
I would like to execute other java native thread concurrently in the Java Native Interface.
When a Java thread called a native thread to use java native interface, Java thread is blocking for processing native thread.
So, other java threads don't execute because they are blocking.
Why do these problems occur at JVM(personal basis profile:CVM)?
I hope you explain this reason in detail.

Basic query in JAVA Threads....Please reply !!

I have a class (say ABC) which extends Thread...This class basically
reads some file which provides some start-time and stop-time information..
File structure is like:-

<Entry1>Starttime = A and Stoptime = B
===========================================
Logic is that thread sleeps till time A arrived, then do some operations (which are written
in it's run() method) till stoptime..
The object of ABC class is being constructed in some other class.
Now there is a change....File can have multiple entries like..

<Entry1>starttime = A and stoptime = B
<Entry2>starttime = X and stoptime = Z
<Entry3>starttime = A and stoptime = B
<Entryn>starttime = X and stoptime = Z
======================================
The start-time and stop-time of any two Entries can be same or different.
The operations should start executing at the defined time..
In this case, multiple threads are required, which can do the operations
mentioned in Entry1,2 etc.....But how should it be implemented..
My query is:-
1) Can I have a common-wrapper class, which reads the file and based on
the number of Entries, instantiates that much number of threads...
But how to do that....I am new to JAVA...Should that class be a simple
class...or should it also implement Thread/Runnable interface.....
Or can I implement it as ThreadGroup......
Please give soem suggestions....Thanks...

Java Server unavailable (in yellow )- status "starting apps for a long time

J2ee Server unavailable in the NWDS instance and the dispatcher is running but the status of the Java Server is "Starting Apps " for a long time( in yellow).can anyone help me out in this ,solutions rewarded

A blocking problem of java thread.

Hi!
I would like to execute native thread concurrently in the Java Native Interface.
When a Java thread called a native thread to use java native interface, Java thread is blocking for processing native thread.
So, other java threads don't execute because they are blocking.
Why do these problems occur at JVM(personal basis profile:CVM)?

I can not see main class weblogic.jar file in your class path.
Under MW_HOME there is a file by name configure.cmd/sh, run it to set acl and class path. Then try to start weblogic server. U can edit the startWeblogic.sh/cmd so that every time it will execute after calling configure.sh/cmd file.

How can I use an java based app that starts via an inf or bat file?

I have java exe application that is started using a .bat file and a java exe application that is started using an inf file. Both the .bat and inf prevent the respective application from kicking off. Is there a way to convert these file types so that they execute on my MacBook?

I didn't expect you to have your customer run the command. I would expect you to create the executable and install it. However, there wouldn't be any difference in what you are creating and the .jar file. Either way it is a faceless icon. For that matter, it is no different than a batch file on Windows. I'm not sure what they wouldn't understand with, "copy the Vocab.jar file to wherever you want and double-click it to run the program." In addition, you probably ought to point out that Java is not installed on Mac OS X Lion (10.7.x) and when they double-click the jar file (or whatever you send them), the system will ask if they want to install Java.
What you really need to do is package up the app inside a Mac application package and provide the user with the application on a .dmg (disk image). Not quite sure how you've achieved all this: the Feedburner feed is presumably the Podbean Feed submitted to Feedburner and then the feed created from that by them submitted to iTunes - or did you create it entirely in Feedburner? - actually the descriptions are different so that seems more likely, or that you submitted another feed to Feedburner.
So, you want to keep the 'Running & Other Stuff'' version and get rid of 'Outside My Head'? You can ask to have a podcast removed from the Store - details here.
Are you happy to keep the existing feed for ''Running...'? If so, that's all you need do. Feedburner won't come into it.
If you want to do it through Feedburner it gets more complicated:
Submit the Podbean feed to Feedburner. It will rewrite the feed and give you a new URL.
In the Podbean feed, which is being read by iTunes, add the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag as described here, pointing to the new Feedburner feed (not the one in use for the other version of the podcast). However it's quite possible that Podbean will not allow you to do this, in which case you are stuck with their feed and will have to forget about Feedburner.

I just downloaded and instaled firefox 4. Now, everytime I institute a command I get a po[p-up from Java script that tells me to uninstal set. I cannot go on untin I press ok and then I am good for one more command and it starts with the pop-up again.

I'm not even sure if this is an extension or plug-in and all I can tell you is what I have already stated. I can only make one command at a time and after each one I get a pop-up from Java script that says uninstal set. I must depress ok to move on, but only for one more command and it starts over again. This also happened when I tried to instal firefox 4 a couple months ago and I deleted the program and went back to an earlier version.

Java stack not starting in a PI 7.1 instance

Hi experts,
We are facing a probling while starting a PI 7.1 instance. the Java stack is not getting up. It is coming up to the phase 'starting apps' and failing from there. We had recently updated the support pack of the instance from 6 to 7. But the instance was running fine for around 12 hours after the application. Now, suddenly we seem to have got this issue. Killing a Thread that runs a C code

Hi,
In my Java application, i use a library written in C++ using JNI. The tasks that are executed by the C library sometimes take a lot of time, so I was considering adding an option for the user to be able to stop it. As these tasks are running in a thread, i was wondering whether there is a way to safely do this?
I have searched the forum, but did not manage to find some post with similar problem. As far as I could see, stopping a thread in general is not safe...
Suggestions guys?

Java Thread.. System Clock gets slower..

I have never came accross such problem in my last 4 years of java development but right now its sucking my brain like any thing..
Let me clerify what my application is doing.
A node which is basically thread is executed and as it performs its job it is stopped by breaking the while loop like logic and then a method isRunnable() is called to calculate the time to run the thread again on the basis of pre-defined schedule (e.g. after 1 minute). so what i was doing in this method i was calling wait (sheduledMinutes*60*1000).
There are multiple nodes which can be run in parallel. Problem occured when some nodes started immediately or after a time much shorter than the value defined in wait() method.
So as an alternative way i decided to not rely on wait() and wrote my own implementaion i.e. i call wait(1000) in isRunnable() and the check if the current system time is less then the scheduled time. But it didn't work either.
The problem revealed when i printed the valued of current time taken by the system and the scheduled one. The System clock gives the current time which is less than the actual System time shown on windows clock. I dont know why but it seems like as my threads continue to run the system clock gets slower or something and returns an old time. Hence nodes start immediately.
Any solution to this problem would be highly appreciable.

Well yeah u r right. I figured it out that it was just my threads running slowly. But the threads ran immediately there was another reason for that. My threads were waiting for the sheduled minutes to run again. In the mean while if i presed the stop button to stop the thread i was just setting the stop variable value to true. Which was basically the check in the while loop in run method. U can notice the thread still sleeping due to the call to wait method. And then if again mean while i press start button i called System.gc(). and then pass the current thread to new Thread like Threa t = new Thread(node); t.start();
Now u can c another thread has been created but the last one was not collected by the garbage collector as it was still waiting and doing something ofcourse not dead. So now when new thread stops these was a possiblity of last thread ( one in waiting state) to run according to schedule and it make the current thread run immediately.
I hope u can understand how difficult it was for me to figure this thing out :)
But after 3/4 hours hair tearing i got the bug and then when i was stopping a thread i infact broke the waiting loop as well. Now the thread was dead and collected by garbage collector before new thread could start :)
Hhhhhhhhhhhhhh sometimes programmign really sucks.

Some Java Thread error in Xp (Urgent)

HI all,
I am working on a 3 tier software and it is running fine on all machines except one "The XP Machine",
The problem is when i m going tru http://appserv:13000 it starts executing but in between an error comes that shows that some java thread or null pointer error and execution stops, i have faced similar type of error in WIN 98 but after installing java virtual machine it was sorted.
but on this perticular machine i have already installed this JVM, but still problem is as it is.
Please help me to sort this problem,
