Java webstart - authentication required

Hello and thank you for reading my post,
I need to get the username written in the "Authentication required" dialog. System.getenv("User.name") gets the username used to login to OS.
Would be grateful for any help.
Best regards,
S.Renani

Followup:
Alternatively, is there a way to turn off the authenticator? (Not an optimum solution but in some cases necessarily)
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/properties.html describes depolyment.config and how one can turn it off from there but it seems that it can only be turned off at client side. I need to do that at server side.

  • The steps to enable Java Webstart in OSX Mavericks are not working.

    The steps located here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5559 are not re-enabling the Java Webstart for Java 6 in OSX Mavericks.  I have tried all four steps about 20 times and looked at all the settings in all my browsers (chrome, safari, and firefox) and all say "missing plugin" when I go to any website that requires Java -- in this case, the NY Times Crossword Puzzle's "solve with a friend", which is incompatible with Java 7 so upgrading does not help me.  I've tried searching for other answers and all keep directing me to the same four steps that have not worked.
    A note, those steps worked when I had the same problem after upgrading to Mountain Lion.  Should something be altered for Mavericks?
    Please advise.

    You'll possibly need to remove Oracle Java altogether before, see these notes on their WebSite:
    http://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_uninstall_java.xml
    After you remove it, go through the steps to re-enable Apple Java again; and, inside Safari, you can also go to its menu and choose "Reset Safari".
    Hope this helps.

  • Proxy Authentication required(Acess denied)

    I created simple java web service (java class with single method it takes two arguments) with SAOP messgae format as document/wrapped using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.
    I created one ESB project in ESB for this same application.
    In ESB project i created one Routing service here i givven physical path of WSDL file.
    And also i created one SOAP service here i given URL of WSDl file.
    After that I register that web service in ESB.Registration was done successfully.
    After that I log in to OC4J console, here i able to find my web service under webservices tab.
    Now i tested this webservice ,but it is giving some exception proxy Authentication required(Acess denied).

  • How to launch a Java WebStart application with older JREs when Java 7u25 is on the client?

    How can I launch older versions of my Java WebStart application, that are built and run with Java 7u21 or earlier, even if Java 7u25 is installed locally on the client? Application launch and behaviour must be reliable and consistent.
    Background:
    As of 7u25 (and later), Java Webstart applications launch with a different class loader than pre-7u25.
    My Java Webstart application has supported versions that were built with older versions of the JDK (e.g. Java 5, 6, 7u21 or earlier). These applications run with their required JRE version, enforced through JNLP. Once Java 7u25 is installed locally, these older applications fail to launch, due to classloader differences.
    The question is: what is required to run older Java WebStart applications even if 7u25 (or later) Java Webstart is installed locally on the client?

    I confirm your findings when using shortcuts to try specific versions of JavaWS with 7u25 or later installed:
    JRE 5u14 launched and the classloader was as pre 7u25
    JRE 6u43 would not launch
    JRE 7u21 launched but the classloader was not as pre 7u25
    You can launch the shortcut with the JavaWS -verbose option to display a messagebox with valuable information.
    I am keeping a close watch on this thread.

  • Java 6 Update 12 64bit Java Webstart documentation

    I notice that 64bit 6 Update 12 comes with 64bit version of Java Webstart - I am just wondering whether there are any documentation on how 64bit Java Webstart works? For example:
    1) By default it will use the 64bit JRE to launch an application. What if an JNLP embedded some 32bit JNI DLLs that requires the use of 32bit JRE?
    2) How can an app specify larger heap if it runs on 64bit host, but less on a 32bit host?
    3) Is there any new extensions to JNLP to support 64bit Java?
    Thanks.

    1.) The initial release of the 64 bit version of javaws will work only with 64 bit JRe's. There is no support yet for mixing.
    2.) You can specify different dlls for use with 64 bit and 32 architectures just as you can with operating systems as follows:
    <resources>
    <java version="1.6+"/>
    <jar href="myapp.jar" main="true"/>
    <resources os="Windows" arch="i586">
    <nativelib href="mydll32.jar"/>
    </resources>
    <resources os="Windows" arch="amd64">
    <nativelib href="mydll64.jar"/>
    </resources>
    </resources>
    3.) There are no new JNLP extensions.
    /Andy

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

    </jnlp>
    Then when I start my application via webstart
    it gives the following error
    An error occurred while launching/running the application.

    Hi,
    I have deployed a J2EE application in SAP WAS 7.0 and this aplication wants to access an application from internet.
    I have set the proxy server details in Visual Admin -> Web Service Container -> setting.
    The server is installed locally in my PC.
    I am able to run the same java application in my command prompt wit the same proxy details and it is able to access the 3rd party application , but when I am trying to access through web application through SAP WAS I am getting 407 Proxy authentication required.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Hari

    Hi,
    it seems like your Proxy requires authentication (e.g. Basic authentication)
    I am able to run the same java application in my command prompt wit the same proxy details and it is able to access the 3rd party application
    Are you providing any credentials here in order to access the internet via Proxy?
    What kind of Proxy are you using
    Cheers

  • HTTP/1.1 407 Proxy Authentication Required for cloud connection

    I am using Jdeveloper version 11.1.1.7.1 for ADF deployment on cloud service(Java and DB services).As instructed ,I have followed all the steps and in jdeveloper .when I tried to Authenticate the created connection with username and password, i am getting HTTP/1.1 407 Proxy Authentication Required .I am clueless how to solve this,Followed all the blogs but no luck.Please help on this,

    Presumably you are behind a FW, does your proxy require authentication if so did you set it with "Tools > Preferences > Web Browser and Proxy > Proxy Server Requires Authentication". Also what is the version of your JCS SDK ? You can check it by:
    java -jar javacloud.jar -version
    It should be something like 15.1.2.0 or later ..

  • Integrating Java Webstart feature at later stage?

    Hello All,
    It's me again with more query.:) I have a requirement now that I don't want to deploy my application using Java WebStart. Imagine the application is already installed on my system from the last 1 year. At that time Java webstart was not used for deployment but now I want to use webstart just for automatic update. Is it possible to integrate this automatic update feature at later stage? By using plugin or smthing else? Please show some light.Many thanks in advance.

    Hello Luca-Sanna ,
    Yesterday only I got solution for this. I referred this link
    "http://today.java.net/pub/a/today/2008/07/10/distributing-web-start-via-cd-rom.html" I am little confused about this point "Jar shouldn't get re-downloaded". Actually what I am doing is , I am just copying my jars in JWS cache using this command "javaws –codebase <application-path> –import <application path>/<xxxx>.jnlp." I also copy a JNLP file in my installation folder of my application where all my jars are present. So now when I click on JNLP & launch the application & if updates for jars is available server side, it should re-download the jars. Right?
    One more thing what is the problem with desktop shortcut?

  • The difference between Java webstart and Java Applet?

    Hi all!
    I'm preparing deploy my application. But I'm in two minds I should deploy My application follow Java Webstart model or Java Applet Model.
    if i deploy application by using Java webstart then what will I get benefit? and otherwise?
    Could you tell me some advices?
    Thanks!

    Applet runs in the context of a browser, Webstart requires a small piece of software to be installed on the client and then when you click on your link/icon webstart downloads your application from the server and runs as a Java application (not within a browser).

  • Too Many Authentication Required Dialogs

    Hi,
    I'm using Java 1.6.0_u10, at a client site, behind a Microsoft Proxy (Poxy?) Firewall.
    when I try any Applets, or Java Web Start Apps, I get way too many "Authentication Required" Dialogs.
    How many is too many? well for me 1, really, but I'm giving up after typing my username/password
    - and clicking the "save this password in your password list" - (not sure what that's supposed to do,
    if not save me from these dialogs) - for the *+6th+ time*. It seems to be once for every resource accessed, even though
    they all come from the same domain - or they should.
    In the Java Control Panel, I have tried Manual Proxy Settings, with the same settings from Firefox, System settings and Browser settings.
    I'm getting a bit fed up.
    Question: Does anyone have trouble free experience of Java Web Start (and plug-in) apps/applets behind an authenticating proxy Firewall?
    If so, what's your secret?
    After 12 years of Java development, I'm not exactly a newbie. I haven't noticed any of this stuff happening with Flash..and Firefox seems to cope. (although Acrobat reader doesn't manage to update itself, and Netbeans 6.5 is repeated getting me locked out of Windows, but that's another story)
    I know the firewall is a nuisance, but if Sun really wants to catch up in the RIA market, it just has to... just work.
    Rgds, and thanks for reading, rant over,
    Matthew.

    That's really odd.
    I'm behind a NTLM authenticating MS Proxy server at work and I don't have an issue with Applets or JNLP.
    I'm on Java 1.6.11
    There a definitely issues with other software, for instance neither Apple's Safari or Google Chrome (both webkit) will work through the proxy server.
    But Java does.

    Details

    You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
    Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
    If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
    Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
    Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
    To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
    You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. The error I see is you did not specify the proper authentication for the smtp server.
    In the Mail preferences for the account, smtp popup, select Edit SMTP Server List.  A sheet will drop down.  Select Advanced tab on that sheet.  You should, I assume, set the Authentication to password, and set the proper username and password.  That's where the poper would be set if 587 is not the one you should be using.  Maybe it is.  I only bring it up since I see it trying to use port 587.
    If you got this stuff already set correctly then I don't know.  Mail has a problem in your setup.  Maybe delete the account and recreate it from scratch.
