Java XML parsers for Sun J2ME, Sun KVM

Here is a list of "small" XML parsers.
Some are specifically for the J2ME platform / Sun KVM:
kXML
http://kxml.enhydra.org/
NanoXML
http://nanoxml.sourceforge.net/
TinyXML
http://www.gibaradunn.srac.org/tiny/index.shtml
MinML
http://www.wilson.co.uk/xml/minml.htm
XMLtp
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jxmltp/
Al Sutton XML parser

Also:
JSR 118 is a specification for the "Mobile Information Device
Next Generation"
http://www.jcp.org/jsr/detail/118.jsp
The JSR 118 group is considering adding a "small, efficient XML parser to enable platform-independent data exchange" to MIDP.

    Thanks for your help.

    this to also create and manage the LDAP groups. We
    are using the Sun ONE 5.2 LDAP directory server. Are
    there significant advantages to using JNDI over the
    SunONE directory SDK, or vice versa?JNDI (bundled with J2SE) in combination with the Booster Pack release version 1.0, provides API support for accessing both static and dynamic Groups. It also provides API support for the new extensions and controls that are made available in Sun ONE DS 5.2.
    The Booster Pack can be downloaded from:
    http://java.sun.com/products/jndi/
    You can also check the LDAP trail of the JNDI Tutorial that contains detailed descriptions and examples of how to use JNDI . It is available at:

    There should be a file called javadocs.jar in your portal installation directory. Either under SUNWps/sdk or SUNWps/export.

  • 64 Bit XML libraries for Sun Solaris

    Will the libxml8.a and libxmlc8.a libraries be included in the 8.1.7 (64) release for Sun Solaris?

    Yes, all releases of Oracle 8.1.7 and Oracle 9i will contain the XDK (although you won't need the libxmlc8.a).

  • What is newest/best/simplest Java XML API for loading/saving/validating?

    Here's what I need to do:
    - Load XML files. Preferably validate using XSD validation referenced by "xsi:schemaLocation" hints.
    - Generate XML files. I'd like to be able to specify indentation (tabs?) and "xsi:schemaLocation" XSD hints
    - I'm working with fairly small configuration files, so I'd like to work with document-centric (and not streaming oriented) APIs.
    I've spent a full day reading articles showing different code snippets for different APIs. There are dozens of standards and APIs. Also, all the articles that I can find are several years old at the least.
    This is surprisingly complex for something so seemingly simple.
    What's the best XML API that fits my criteria? Any links for code snippets and up-to-date documentation?
    Thanks!

    Well, XML hasn't changed since it was formalized, and that was in 1999. So there's really no need for people to write new parsers every couple of years any more. And that's why you don't find new tutorials being written every year either. There's really not much need for that.
    Anyway, my recommendation would be to use the classes that are built into your current version of Java. Use them for a while. Once you have experience with them, all those tutorials about other products will start to make sense and you will be able to make an educated decision for yourself.

  • XSD size and Java XML Parsers (specifically SAX)

    Does the size of XSD matter in terms of performace runtime. I would like to create an XSD as one contract that houses all non-mandatory elements so the resulting xml out of this will use similar structure but wont use all of the XSD elements.
    Is there a problem with such an XSD which will be 1000 or more elements as far as Java parsing is concerned
    Pl. let me knwo thanks

    I do a lot of work with an international standard -- S1000D -- for documentation and technical manuals. It has 58 schema files (10 that are main files that are referenced by an XML file, and the other 48 get imbedded as needed). It does not slow down the parsing of files by any noticable amount.

  • Is java.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilder Thread Safe?

    Does anyone know if the DocumentBuilder is thread safe? Meaning,

    I would be happy if anyone can also point me to the documentation that says DocumentBuilder is or isn't thread safe.

    My Code Like Such:
    public class DigestUtil
    private static MessageDigest md_md5 = null;

    md_md5 = MessageDigest.getInstance("MD5");
    }catch(Exception ex)

  • Custom xml parser for EAR

    I am trying to specify a custom XML parser for my application to use as the default BEA one does not work with Apache Axis.

    <transformer-factory>org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl</transformer-factory>
    </parser-factory>
    </xml>
    I also updated the Manifest file for my EAR to include the following:

    This is not working. Any ideas?

    I am not sure what parser or interface you are trying to use.
    Our command line ones will print the output of the parse to the

    Not unless you use our print methods or pipe our commandline

    All of our XML Parsers for C, C++, and Java can work

    available here) to get parsed data in and out of the database.

    Vishal, thanks a lot for your reply. I used the App Server 2004Q4 beta and got the problem. When I switch to version 8.0.0_01 the things work well.
    But now I'm trying to understand this example and creating my own simple web app using encryption feature. From the files in the example dicrectory I can figure out the security applied at client by examining client stub files generated by the wscompile in the asant gen-client task. But I wonder when security is added to the server side. Is it when we use wsdeploy with the model part specifiedin jaxrpc-ri.xml? What is the procedure to apply the security to the web service?
    The last thing I want to ask is whether the deploytool bundled inside App Server can do the same things as ant task (eg. wsdeploy with some arguments).

  • Error in Sun XML schema for servlet2.4 deployment descriptor?

    Hi,
    I'm including the new XML schema for version 2.4 of the servlet standard in my web.xml deployment descriptor, using http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd
    When I try to save the XML file, XMLSpy reports an error in the schema file itself: "Undefined schema component 'base' encountered - simpleContext can not have a base that is a complexType with complexContent"
    This error is on line 744, and is caused by the snippet:
    <xsd:simpleContent>
    <xsd:extension base="j2ee:nonEmptyStringType"/>
    </xsd:simpleContent>
    Can anyone explain why I'm getting a validation failure on this schema? Surely someone else must have experienced the same thing, but I can't track down any reference to it anywhere. Help!

    XMLSpy is known to be flawed. From my own experience of implementing
    validators and data-binding tools, and from my experience of working in the
    W3C Schema working group, I can tell you that there are countless cases
    where XMLSpy violates the schema specification.
    I checked the corresponding part of the schema, but it looks correct to me.
    So I suspect that this is another bug in XMLSpy.
    Try Xerces. That's probably the best in terms of conformance to the spec.

    along with wlfullclient.jar please add wseeclient.jar
    Copy the file WL_HOME/server/lib/wseeclient.zip from the computer hosting WebLogic Server to the client computer( where WL_HOME refers to the WebLogic Server installation directory, such as /Oracle/Middleware/wlserver_12.1)
    Unzip the wseeclient.zip file into the appropriate directory. For example, you might unzip the file into a directory that contains other classes used by your client application.
    Add the wseeclient.jar file (unzipped from the wseeclient.zip file) to your CLASSPATH.
    Note:
    Also be sure that your CLASSPATH includes the JAR file that contains the Ant classes (ant.jar). This JAR file is typically located in the lib directory of the Ant distribution.

    Hi,
    I got this error when my servlet is trying to parse a xml document:
    RuntimeRemoteException( java.io.WriteAbortedException: Writing aborted by exception; java.io.NotSerializableException: com.sun.xml.tree.XmlDocument )
    And my application runs ok when Tomcat is used as servlet container, but it runs into problem when iPlanet is used.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for your reply.
    The EJBs in the application are all stateless beans. The error happens at the servlet side, not the EJB side. When the servlet tries to parse the returned XML document using xalan 1.0, the error happened. However, I can not reproduce the error when I use Tomcat as servlet container.
    here is how I coded:
    XSLTProcessor processor = XSLTProcessorFactory.getProcessor(new org.apache.xalan.xpath.xdom.XercesLiaison());
    XSLTInputSource xmlSource = new XSLTInputSource(doc);
    XSLTInputSource xslSheet = new XSLTInputSource("file:"+xslFile);
    Writer out = new StringWriter();
    XSLTResultTarget xmlResult= new XSLTResultTarget(out);
    processor.process(xmlSource,xslSheet,xmlResult);

  • Using Linux/Red Hat/Intel for Sun ONE/Java Directory Server

    Anybody have any experience of this? We're looking to get off AIX, and Total Cost of Ownership for using Solaris/Sparc versus Linux/Intel is very similar.
    The decider will be if no-one is using Linux as a platform for Sun ONE/Java Directory Server....
    Any feedback would be appreciated....

    We run Directory 5.1 in production on Solaris/Sparc, but I've tried it with sucess on Red Hat 7.2 on Intel. We have not been able to get it to work on Red Hat Enterprise 2.1 or 3.0. The main problem has been that the administration server fails on startup. Obvious the lack of support for the latest enterprise class Linux is a huge drawback. At this point I've decided to stay on Solaris/Sparc until Red Hat comes out with its own release of Netscape's Directory. When that happens we're going to evaluate whether to move the whole environment to Red Hat. The Sun and Netscape servers are almost identical in terms of features and performance, but having an open source version that can run on less expensive hardware would be a terrific win for us.

  • Php plugin 1.0 for sun java system webserver

    Hi,

    Using PHP with NSAPI plugin will definitely get you the best performance. However, if you are using PHP with NSAPI plugin enabled then you might have to be careful when you are installing any of the PHP extensions from PECL to make sure that they are thread safe.
    Note: There can be a potential issue only when using any of PECL (http://pecl.php.net) extension and not with any PEAR (http://pear.php.net) extensions.
    For example, if you PHP built for NSAPI and then using on top of WordPress or Drupal or on top of frameworks like ZF etc should not be a problem
    To compile PHP 5.3 with NSAPI, you would do some thing like
    ./configure --with-nsapi=<web-server7-install-directory>
    To compile PHP 5.3 with FastCGI, you would do some thing like
    ./configure enable-cgi enable-force-cgi-redirect
