JavaDB bundled in JDK 6

hi, it says that the JavaDB is included in JDK 6, when it is installed, there should be a JavaDB folder somewhere in the directories, but i cant find it on my PC,
there is no JavaDB folder anywhere or even Program Files/Sun/JavaDB exists, is there a way to extract the JavaDB in the installation manually? or is it really included?
i downloaded the lates version of JDK6u34 with Bundled Netbeans IDE, double clicked it , followed the installation process, nothing is there, i tried to uninstall-install it many times, but there seems no JavaDB embedded database that is being installed

thank you very much for tracking down the causes. i understand somehow the problem now, I followed what you said, downloading the x64, no netbeans bundled, only the installer itself, run it, but i don't see any custom options or check box that asks if the JavaDB should be installed, as i carefully proceed with the Wizard dialog i come up with the part of the Wizard saying "Custom setup" but i only got three options , the "Development Tools", the "Source Code" and the "Public JRE", so i decided to proceed again, until the installation, waited, when it was done, i tried to check the /Sun/ folder, tried to search it, but still no JavaDB installed.
oh i would like to add, just now, i downloaded Jdk 7(just like the 6, only the installer itself), installed it after installing the JDK 6, there is still no JavaDB or SUN folder, but as i look carefully, there is a /db/ sub-folder on the jdk 7 folder, it includes all the necessary derby jar files, for derby, but i'm still hoping to know why can't i install the jdk 6 properly.

  • Specifiying different JRE than the bundled with JDK

    We are migrating out web application previously deployed on Sun ONE 6.0 to Sun ONE 6.1 and upgrading to JRE 1.5_06 but JDK will remain to be 1.4.x. My question is how I can use a differnt JRE because in the "Java" tab in the admin interface we can set the Java path which points to the JDK and I'm assuming it uses the same JRE that is in that folder. I can ofcourse explicitly delete the jre folder and replace it with the upgraded JRE 1.5 but just wondering if thats the best option...
    Thanks
    SA

    yeah i understand it wont be a good idea to mix and match the jre but the requiremnet for my product is to move to jre 1.5 so i need to do move to the higher JRE.
    For those who may wanna know one of doing that is to procompile all your JSPs and in the server.xml you can manually set the java-home and then make sure in the start script those changes are reflected by setting the relative paths right..

  • When installed JDK but I have problem with System vars may install bundle

    When installed JDK but I have problem with System vars may install bundle [netbeans&JDK] WITHOUT UNISTALLING initial JDK or needed uninstall first ?

    With the word 'automatically', yes you do need pulseaudio. I'm sure you could cook up some udev or related rule to do that in Alsa, but pulseaudio would be easier.

  • Where is Java DB in JDK 6?

    The Java DB documentation seems to tell us only that it's now in JDK 6. The JDK 6 documentation seems to tell us only that JDK 6 "co-bundles" Java DB. If the documentation answers my question, the answer is not easy to find.
    Attempting to follow the NetBeans instructions for [Working with the Java DB (Derby) Database|http://www.netbeans.org/kb/docs/ide/java-db.html], "Configuring the Database" starts with "If you have the GlassFish Server registered in your NetBeans IDE installation ... If you downloaded GlassFish (or Sun Java System Application Server) separately ... If you just downloaded Java DB on its own ..." None of those apply, so I skip ahead to "Registering the Database in NetBeans IDE".
    In NetBeans, I opened the "Java DB Properties" dialog. The instructions then tell us, "For the Java DB Installation text field, enter the path to the Java DB root directory (javadb) ...".
    I tried to find "javadb" on a Solaris 10 computer, where JDK 6 is installed:

  • Javadb "table does not exist" Problem

    Hi,
    I am learning to program jsp's, please help me.
    I created a new database HelloWorld and a table named Languages in HelloWorld, i used javaDb bundled with Java System Application Server 9, java EE 5 and Netbeans 5.5.
    When I created it in netbeans, the table is shown in Databases node but while I try to get data from my Jsp it is giving me error
    org.apache.derby.client.am.SqlException: Table 'LANGUAGES' does not exist.
    I tried the example with the sample travel database and it is working but not with the database and tables I created.
    Please suggest me what I am doing wrong, My code is as follows.

    Statement stmt;
    ResultSet rset;
    stmt = conn.createStatement();
    rset = stmt.executeQuery("select language_id,language_name from Languages");
    while (rset.next())
    result += rset.getString("language_name")+"<BR>";
    rset.close();
    stmt.close();
    return result;
    public void closeConnection()
    throws SQLException
    conn.close();
    error is on line
    rset = stmt.executeQuery("select language_id,language_name from Languages");thanks in advance

    please check the table 'LANGUAGES' is in which database. It may be paoosible that you are trying to access the table created in other database inside derby.

  • Oracle JDK

    Is there any SQL that can be run in order to find the current jdk version supported
    by an Oracle server? If this is too "fancy", is there a place to find such information?
    I did some searches on OTN, but to find this seems less obvious than it might look.
    Particularly I am interested in 8.1.5 and 8.1.6.
    thanks

    When you compile on the command line, what version of Java do you have? Are you using JDK 1.3.1, too?
    If not, would your command line compile still work if you downloaded that earlier JDK 1.3.1?
    That's the problem - I believe the Oracle instance only uses its internal JDK. It doesn't access any external JDKs, because it doesn't want to depend on the fact that they exist. They bundle a JDK inside Oracle to guarantee their stuff will work even if you haven't downloaded a JDK. - MOD

    There isn't such a class. BeanInfo instances are
    generated for classes. Are you sure you understand
    what BeanInfo is for? It describes a class, not an
    instance of that classSo what's this (found inside of dt.jar) ?

  • New installation woes - SQLDeveloper on Oracle Linux x64 and Oracle 11g XE

    Note that as an experienced Oracle developer in enterprise environments running MS Windows OS, I am familiar with SQLDeveloper for Windows. I don't have a lot of experience with Linux however. I don't find it intimidating, I just don't have a lot of accumulated knowledge.
    I have recently been trying to set up a development environment on my Windows7 Professional x64 laptop.
    1. Installed Oracle VBox
    2. Installed Oracle Linux 5.2 inside the VBox (because Oracle 11g XE is not certified on 64 bit Windows, needed to go with a Linux OS)
    3. Installed Oracle DB 11.2 XE
    4. Installed JDK as instructed in the SQLDeveloper release notes for Linux x64
    5. Installed SQLDeveloper 3.1.07.42-1
    No apparent issues with any of the installations.
    Problem : I can run SQL Plus from the command line, but when I click on the icon for SQLDeveloper, nothing happens. No error messages, nothing else.
    Question #1 : Unsure how to debug/troubleshoot this. Will read through the installation and release notes for SQLDeveloper, but any suggestions would be welcome.
    Question #2 : Could this be due to an issue with the JDK installation? It appeared to be successful (no obvious issues) but I can't see anything in the Oracle Linux menu system that tells me the JDK was installed successfully. How can I confirm that the JDK installation was successful?
    Edited by: Peter Hartgerink on Jun 19, 2012 9:12 AM

    >
    The Linux x64 version of SQLDeveloper doesn't come bundled with JDK. There is a version of JDK recommended, with an advisory to install it before installing SQLDeveloper. This I did, with apparent success. I guess I'll have to install the JDK again and check my Java versions afterwards. Thanks.
    >
    I don't know what JDK you downloaded since you didn't say. What version was it? Post the link.
    I find it hard to believe that the JDK version recommended was 1.4.2 since that is an ANCIENT version of Java, you have to hunt to even find it for download and most importantly the sql developer main download page clearly announces what version of Java is needed.

    JDK Support
    Oracle SQL Developer 3.1 is shipped with JDK1.6.0_11. However, you can connect to and use any JDK 1.6.0_11 or above. To use an existing JDK, download the zip files listed below "with JDK already installed."
    >
    As you can see you need JDK 1.6.0_11 or above.
    If the version you say was recommended was actually 1.4.2 then that is an error; post the details so the developers can get that error fixed.
    I don't know what is on your system and can only go by the information you provide
    >
    4. Installed JDK as instructed in the SQLDeveloper release notes for Linux x64
    java version "1.4.2"
    >
    You either downloaded version 1.4.2, which seems unlikely, or your Linux included 1.4.2 and it is being used when you try to launch sql developer.
    Perhaps your system now has multiple versions of Java on it but the version being used by sql developer is the wrong one. If so that is the issue you need to resolve.

  • OS authentication gives ORA-01005

    We are new to ODP.NET and are trying to connect to our Unix databases which are configured with OS authentication. When we connect with sqlplus we enter "/" as the userid, leave the password column null and enter the database name in the required location. This connects OK. However, when we try the same thing with ODP.NET we are getting an ORA-01005 error. It doesn't like the null password. We do not set sqlnet.authentication_services in our sqlnet.ora file which means it defaults to none. Does ODP.NET support OS authentication? My configuration files are obviously working for SQL*Plus. Do I need to do something special for ODP.NET?

    I think that the driver should be included by the
    development team directly within the SQL Developer
    directory - especially since 10g is currently the
    most distributed version...They include the jdbc driver, but they can't include the rest of it without installing an oracle client. That means two of the selling points are gone - runs on anything with a JVM, and doesn't need an oracle client -; and a lot of extra effort providing operating system dependent distributions. Currently there are only 2 - windows and everything else, and the only difference is that the windows version bundles the jdk. You can install the everything else version on windows too.

    We are proud to announce the release of JAX-WS 2.1 RI FCS. JAX-WS 2.1 is
    a major re-architecture over JAX-WS 2.0 without changing the standard
    JAX-WS APIs or programming model. The benefits of this is a very fast
    implementation and an extremely flexible, extensible architecture. To
    read more about how fast the RI is and the new functionality that it
    contains, read Vivek's blog at:
    http://weblogs.java.net/blog/vivekp/archive/2007/02/jaxws_21_fcs_fa_1.html

  • Empty tabs in BAM Active Studio (SOA Suite 11.1.1.3)

    Hi all,
    I experienced an issue with BAM Active Studio and the SUN jdk 1.60_18 in SOA Suite 11.1.1.3. When I click "edit view" in a report, the "Data" tabs are all empty. The issue only occurs with the bundled SUN jdk 1.60_18 (under Windows 7). It does not occur when using the bundled jrockit 1.60_17.

    Hi,
    I successfully installed SOA Suite 11.1.1.3 too on windows 2003server
    I first Installed oracle database11.2.0.2
    then Created RCU - 11.1.1.2.1 using prefix "DEV",but no use the RCU 11.1.1.3
    after Installed WLS 10.3.3 full install
    Finally Installed SOA Suite 11.1.1.2.0 in the middleware home created in Step 3
    and Upgraded SOA Suite from 11.1.1.2 to 11.1.1.3
    so we hava the same steps.I run the em and console successful,and all the soa Components are run Operating normally!
    and I found not any different between RCU 11.1.1.2.1 and RCU 11.1.1.3 on install soa suite.
    I want to know you to Exchange our soa Experience!

  • Applet - Oracle 8.0 database connectivity failing in Netscape Browser

    I have written a Java Applet to connect to the Oracle (8.0) database. My Applet is residing in a remote server. The Applet connected to the database when run in Internet Explorer, but failed to connect to the database using Netscape Navigator (4.08) and resulted in the following error

    </applet>
    </body>
    </html>
    Please somebody help me in resolving this problem. This is urgent.
    Please reply to [email protected]
    Regards,
    Raju.

    Hi,
    If ur Applet Needs to Access the System Resouces(JDBC API calls) u have to Make ur Applet trusted.U can Use the Keytool utility Bundled with JDK to Achecive this.The Actual Problem u may get is a Security Exception Due to which u cannot create a Connection Object which results in a Null Pointer Exception
    thankx,

  • Making element in wsdl as required

    Hi,
    I am using jaxws (comes bundled in jdk 1.6) and when a wsdl is created by publishing the web service, the element in the "types" section is optional. Please see "minOccurs=0" below:
    - <xs:complexType name="holderClass1">
    - <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="i" type="xs:int" />
    <xs:element name="name" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0" />
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    I want to make it required. How do I specify the cardinality?
    Thanks
    G

    Got it. use JAXB to specify whether it is required or not.
