Linux JDK 7 JavaFX 2.2 Path

It is stated that JavaFX is bundled with JDK 7, but I can't seem to find where it is being installed. I tried a system search, but with no luck. Can you help?
My JDK is version 1.7.0_07.
In the Oracle website there is no more Linux versions for any JavaFX SDK and RE.

It is not on bootclasspath by default because it is also change of behavior for non javafx applications.
Compatibility impact is being studied. Here is change request for this (not much public details so far):
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7166330
I expect it will be available on the bootclasspath in one of subsequent releases but i do not know when it will happen.
It takes time to converge two different platforms ...

    Lack of Mac & Linux Support Hurting Javafx 2.0 Early Adoption and traction.
    Oracle needs to come out with a Mac & Linux Beta built, or let developers know the real story behind Mac OS and Javafx 2.0.

    I too would like to at least be able to try the Mac/Linux ports, even knowing that they are behind the Windows version. But just knowing that Oracle is committed to them is enough to ease any nervous feeling that I'm choosing the wrong tech.
    I have no problems with the fact that Oracle is concentrating on Windows first. It makes sense. If you have to pick one platform to focus on while you are getting the kinks out, it makes sense for it to be the most popular platform. That's Windows. But there mustn't be too long of a wait for the others. (E.g. if they were in a public beta stage when the Windows version is at final release, that would help boost confidence in the platform.)
    So long as they don't make the same mistakes that were made with Swing, where there are too many assumptions that all platforms work the same - so things like Mac's screen menu bar had to be fit in after the fact by Apple using awkward hacks. (I notice that now even popular Linux distros (Ubuntu) are using the screen menu bar concept, though they have managed to fit that into the window manager in such a way that it didn't seem to cause much problems.)

  • JDK 7u6 JavaFX integration - Is jfxrt.jar supposed to be on the classpath?

    I have a Swing app that uses a JFXPanel. Running under Java 7u6 (dev preview b16) I expected the JavaFX classes to be on the classpath, but I found they were not.
    I added them with -XX:bootclasspath/a and all seemed to work, but I wondered if this was expected?

    I've just installed 7u6 b17 on OS X

    I had an existing NB JavaFX application project that was already built. I decided to use it to test running javafxpackager manually. From my projects folder I ran this:

  • Is there a way to find libjvm.so on Linux without it being in the path?

    On Windows, I know it's possible to find the location of jvm.dll using the RuntimeLib key in the registry, and I've used this technique in a program. Is there a UNIX/Linux equivalent to this?
    In other words, is it possible for me to find out the location of libjvm.so without the user having to enter it manually, or the path to the library be in an environment variable?

    From man ldconfig:
    ldconfig, being a user process, must be run manually and has no means
    of dynamically determining and relinking shared libraries for use by
    ld.so when a new DLL is installed.
    That said, you could run something like locate on the library, and then put it in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH for the user that's running the program.

    I only needed JAXB 1.0, why do I have to get the whole JWSDP? Why do I have to deal with this @$#! installer?

    I did,

    It does work so far.
    I would like to know what this is all about - but I don't

    Makes you wonder how Sun tests their own software before
    they release it.

  • Linux JDK 1.5.0_06 self-extracting archive doesn't work

    Hi,
    I downloaded jdk-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.bin and followed the instructions to install it, but nothing happens. That is, I execute:
    ./jdk-1_5_0_06-linux-i586.bin
    and nothing happens. No error messages, no output of any kind. I do have execute permissions on the file, so that's not the problem.
    I'm sure this is a problem with the (mis) configured lab machine I'm working on, but I don't really feel like trying to find what is going wrong.
    Does anyone have a zip, tar, ANYTHING of the directory structure that is supposed to result from the execution of this self-extracting file, which doesn't work for me? I googled everything I could think of but found nothing. Any help is appreciated.

    I only used the getSystemResource because it is slightly more convenient. The
    getResource version requires a "/" in front of the filename, as in:
    java.net.URL imageURL = getClass().getResource("/" + imageName);
    System.out.println("Loading icon: " + imageName);
    for (int i = 0; i < 32000; i++)
    System.out.println(i);
    icon = new ImageIcon(imageURL);
    Unfortunately, this still deadlocks after a few thousand hits.
    Of course, I don't need thousands of icons in my application, but the real-world issue is that the program locks up every few times it is started, which is a real drag for the customers!
    I suppose the InputStream way would work, though it is not very elegant compared to loading the resource in the usual manner. I'll try it if there are no other suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi
    The path is now managed by Windows 7 and not the autoexec.bat or autoexec.nt files. To change the system environment variables, follow the below steps.
    1.From the desktop, right-click My Computer and click Properties.
    2.In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.
    3.In the Advanced section, click the Environment Variables button.
    4.Finally, In Environment Variable window User variables in Techno
    Click on Add button and provide below information
    Variable Name: JAVA_HOME
    Value: D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24
    Again Click on Add button and enter below details
    Variable Name: path
    Value: %path%;D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24\bin;D:\Oracle\Middleware\jre160_24\bin
    Again Click on Add button and enter below details
    Variable Name: ODI_JAVA_HOME (same jdk location should provide in odiparam.bat file in ODI_HOME\oracledi\agent\bin location)
    Value: D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24
    Note: Better Don't gove jdk path from D:\OdiHome\rcu\rcuHome\jdk\bin. Please give jdk path from Drive:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24 (*eg: D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24*) for more details see below URL

    hi all,
        This is santhosh, I have a problem with xml path in flash. Iam trying to load some swf files into another swf file, it's woking fine in windows os but when I check this file in linux it is not taking the path which I gave for loading external swf files.So, any help on the same will be grate for me.

    Thanks and regards

    duplicate {thread:id=2418158} ?
    I guess the path you are using is wrong. It works on your mashiene as the src path is available. When you run the app on a server (jspx file) there is no src path as long as you don't include it in your WAR wich you should not do anyway.
    If you need to access such data you can create a folder in your webroot folder and the the resources from there as /xml_folder_name or if the xml files shouldn't be visible from the outside put the folder under hte web-inf folder.

  • JavaFX linux version

    Hi!
    I know it's getting a bit annoying, but I would really like to know.
    Is there an (semi)official place, where I can find information about the progress of the linux version of JavaFX ?
    (I have the mac version of the sdk, so it's enough for a start, and I don't plan to use rich media yet, only the basic graphics functionality, and it works fine in linux too)
    I can wait of course, but now everyone who uses linux is in the dark except a few sentences here and there, that it's on the way.

    +1
    I'm not sure where sun gets it OS usage statistics from for its developer base :-) I want very VERY much to use OR at least have a place to check on the status of the Linux version of JFX as its being (allegedly) developed as a priority. For Petes sake say ANYTHING about it on the downloads page other than: "JavaFX 1.0 is not currently supported on your operating system. We encourage you to try JavaFX on Windows XP, Windows Vista or Mac OS X. (See system requirements for details.)".
    Suggestion: Replace that message (which translates to: "Eff Linux") with something like: "Were hard at work on a version of Java FX for Linux, please check back regularly or register for our Java FX insiders mailing list". Feel free to use that copy!!! See this way you're not just pis*ing off the worlds most talented development community.

    You mean both Disk1 and Disk2 should comes under database folder?? I already extracted them in one folder.
    Let me know if still need details!!
    Let's say you have both zip files in one directory.  For the sake of discussion let's call it /downloads. So, with /downloads set as your pwd, simply issue the commands:
    unzip disk1.zip
    unzip disk2.zip
    that will result in /downloads/database, which will contain the contents of both of the zip files.
    I don't know why it was suggested that you unzip them in Windows then transfer to unix.  If you try to unzip them in Windows from the GUI, the default behavior will be to unzip disk1.zip into a folder called disk1 and disk2.zip into a folder called disk2.
    But it still comes back to the fact you are trying to install on Ubuntu which has already been pointed out to be not a certified platform for Oracle.  Why are you not using a certified OS like Oracle Linux or Red Hat Linux?  The licensing cost of Oracle Linux is exactly the same as Ubuntu -- US$0.00.

  • Can I change the path where my app reads native code?

    I have created an application that is using a native code file. It is (that is the DLL file) stored in the JDK folder in (jdk1.6.0_16\jre\bin) and my application reads from there.
    Is it possible to make the application to read the native file from somwhere else? From the JAR file?

    You can get the VM to look for native files (DLLs on Windows, SOs on Linux) by specifying
    java -Djava.library.path="path to your DLL/SO" etc. when you start your app.
